There's been a major breakthrough towards resolving the stand off over Ihumātao, with an initial deal expected to go to Cabinet today. RNZ understands the deal is for Fletcher Building to sell the land to the government, the first step in reaching a resolution; with agreement from Fletchers and, on behalf of mana whenua, Kiingitanga. While this would take Fletchers out of the picture, more work to then decide how the government and mana whenua reach a final agreement about the land would likely still have to be done. Pania Newton, spokesperson for Save Our Unique Landscape, which led the movement against the development, speaks to Susie Ferguson.

Confession time: I’m a fan of King of the Hill. In season 5, episode 19 of the series, the eponymous character Hank Hill competes in a lawnmower race. There’s this bizarre plot where Hank discovers he has no buttocks, which comes to a head in the last lap as he struggles to finish the race. Hank can’t win, and neither can his neurotic friend-slash-neighbour Dale Gribble. Dale reasons he can at least have bragging rights in beating the handicapped racer, leading to this memorable line uttered in the race for sixth place: I lost…but I can still beat Hank. That’s even better than winning! This line has become a running joke amongst me and my siblings, and we often spout it in times when failure is inevitable but abject humiliation can be avoided by at least beating the opponent directly behind us. Case in point: when it comes to preparing for long –distance races, I am not the fastest runner. I came in last place in my 8th grade cross-country team. While I no longer bring up the rear, I’m still far from an elite athlete. My goal for every 5K and 10K race is to improve on my personal record (my goal for this summer is to run a sub-35 minute 5K race — see, I told you I wasn’t very fast). So I enter every race fully aware that I will not win, nor will I place high overall or even in my age or gender categories. But I run because of my mantra: “I can still beat Hank.” Mind you, Hank isn’t necessarily an actual person (though, I won’t lie — passing people during the last stretch of a long race is very satisfying). Hank is me at my best, the last time I ran. If I try to set the goal to beat everyone in front of me, well, then that’s always going to be a losing battle. There will always be someone more agile than me, more equipped mentally and physically to succeed, and I will be chasing a goal that will forever allude me. But…if I run 10K race and finish in 90 minutes, then I can at least work towards the attainable goal of ‘beating Hank’: trying to shave my time down to 1:20 or 1:15. Because I know myself; I can take the necessary steps to achieve this goal and still feel a sense of accomplishment even if I pass no one and all I have to show for my sweaty effort is a participation medal. Just as you shouldn’t do things to impress or please others, you should find an internal stimulus or inspiration that makes you strive to be a better human every day. And for me, that will be beating Hank.

Does documentary ever really tell the truth? BAFTA award winning filmmaker Molly Dineen examines the concept of truth and the creation of narrative in documentary film making. Robert Flaherty's 'Nanook of the North' is considered the first documentary ever made, and much of it was specially set up for the cameras. We think that modern 'Scripted Reality' is a new phenomenon, but does it have its roots in the earliest days of documentary? We look at the making of a documentary, from idea, to casting, filming and editing to find out how documentary makers craft their story. Molly Dineen looks at nearly 100 years of documentary making from the archives, as well as looking back on her own career. Her first film 'Home from the Hill' followed retired Solider Hilary Hook returning to England after a career in Kenya, and she has also filmed the London Zoo in crisis, in her BAFTA award winning series 'The Ark', modern celebrity in her portrait of ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, and a Prime Minister in waiting in the 1997 Party Political Broadcast for the Labour Party. Molly's observational style sees her immersing herself in the worlds she shoots, but we also take a look at modern 'Fly on the Wall' programming, speaking to TV producer Jonathan Stadlen about his series 'GP's: Behind Closed Doors'. There's more factual programming around now than ever; but is this a good thing? Are the schedules clogged with cheap programming that sacrifices the truth for style, using fast cutting, music and voice over rather than allowing people to speak for themselves? We also hear from Kim Loginotto, whose films examine the lives of women worldwide, Radio Producer Simon Elmes and TV Critic AA Gill. Presenter: Molly Dineen Producer: Jessica Treen.

This series is themed 'Ramblings Revisited' as Clare Balding walks again with some of her favourite and most memorable guests. In the spring of 2006, Clare went rambling with a female hockey team who had been walking together for 15 years. In this time they'd developed enduring friendships on as well as off the pitch. Now, eight years on - and with most of the original walkers now retired - Clare is going back to catch up with the 'Over the Hill' club. The group started-up after an advertisement was placed on the hockey club wall; it stipulated that the requirements of those attending were 'A sense of humour, walking boots or strong shoes, haversack, waterproof clothing and approximately £65 plus beer and lunch money'. The group walk in a different location each time they gather, this week they'll be in Windsor Great Park. Producer: Karen Gregor.
