Joining me today is Elliott Henshaw. Elliott is one of the most in demand drummers in the UK, he has performed with many household names such as Tony Christie, Leo Sayer, Tony Hadley and over 20 West End Shows. Join myself and Elliott as we pick through his amazing career so far, we of course talk about his early days through to his first big gig playing drums for Andy Prior's amazing big band, at this time Andy was a huge name in the UK eventually landing his own TV Show. We talk extensively about working as a pro reading drummer and having to work with Musical Directors and the many things to watch out for. Elliott shares with us the INCREDIBLE story of how he prepared to do a couple of shows as a dep on a major west end show and how he got to play for none other than Phil Collins on a TV show......No pressure eh? This was a fantastic and fascinating conversation to have, i really hope you enjoy it and i would like to thank Elliott for giving his time up so generously. www.elliotthenshaw.com

Black Ferns assistant coach Tony Christie is demanding a more consistent defensive display, despite conceding just the one try in their first test of the PAC-4 Championship. New Zealand hosts Canada in Christchurch on Sunday on the back of their 57-5 win over the United States in Hamilton. Christie —who looks after the defence portfolio— says they measure success in that area beyond the score-sheet. Luka Connor joined D'Arcy Waldegrave to preview their clash against the Canadians. Cliff Richard & The Young Ones feat. It's almost impossible to fathom the amazing life led by talent manager Harvey Lisberg. Luckily, the man has penned a memoir titled "I'm into Something Good" accounting his career looking after bands such as 10cc, Godley & Creme, Tony Christie, Barclay James Harvest, Gordon Giltrap, Sad Café, Wax and others. But undoubtedly his most well known group was Herman's Hermit's, who for a time went head to head with the Beatles as the top act in the world. So as you can imagine, stating that Harvey Lisberg has many stories to tell on the podcast is a major understatement. Let's just say you have to listen to get all the goods on some legendary names that had a major impact on the music industry as a whole. It's great stuff! The coaching line-up for the world champion Black Ferns has been finalised - and there's not a woman in sight. In February sevens maestro Allan Bunting was named the new head coach of the side - after Wayne Smith stood down following the side's World Cup win last year. Bunting has now named a trio of assistants - Tony Christie, Steve Jackson and Mike Delany completing an all male line. To discuss the appointments we're joined by sports editor Stephen Hewson.
Three new assistant coaches have been named for the Black Ferns, all of whom are men. Tony Christie, Steve Jackson and Mike Delany will join head coach Allan Bunting in the coaching set up, while former NZ Sevens team manager Janelle Strickland will be the team's manager. The new trio replace departing assistants Wesley Clarke and Whitney Hansen. There hasn't been a great coaching pathway for women in rugby over the years, but some are starting to emerge, such as Crystal Kaua at the Chiefs, and Victoria Grant with the Hurricanes. Of course Hansen was an assistant with the Black Ferns under Wayne Smith, but she's now leading the Matatū in Super Rugby. Former Wellington player turned rugby commentator Alice Soper thinks more could be done to improve that coaching pathway for women. She spoke to Corin Dann.
Eyebrows have been raised over the confirmation that the Black Ferns will receive an all-male coaching staff. Tony Christie, Steve Jackson and Mike Delany are set to join head coach Allan Bunting in guiding the World Cup-winning rugby team. Sportstalk host D'Arcy Waldegrave weighed in on whether this is evidence of lagging support for female coaches. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Black Ferns now have an all-male coaching team. The trio of Tony Christie, Steve Jackson and Mike Delany will join Black Ferns Director of Rugby Allan Bunting to round off the coaching staff for the World Cup winning team. Sports journalist and former player Alice Soper isn't surprised by the all-male lineup, as they didn't have any credible women short-listed for the Black Ferns coaching roles. "What we've got at the moment is a bit of a lopsided landscape. People would probably look around and go- oh, well we've got a couple of head coaches now in Opiki with the Super Rugby competition. That's true, but we've now got three." LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
New Zealand Rugby has confirmed an all male coaching team for the World Cup winning Black Ferns, with Tony Christie, Steve Jackson and Mike Delany joining head coach Allan Bunting.

Tony had three great hits in 1971, beginning with "Las Vegas" which reached number 21 in the UK, and went on to have two Top Twenty hits in the UK Singles Chart with "I Did What I Did for Maria", which reached number two, and "Is This the Way to Amarillo", which reached number 18, all in 1971. W/C 29th August 2022 Tony Christie recorded an album in 2008 called Made in Sheffield. It was produced by the genius pairing that is Richard Hawley & Colin Elliott and it only features music written by songwriters from Sheffield such as Jarvis Cocker, Alex Turner & Philip Oakey as well as RH & TC themselves. I had read a couple of very positive reviews and decided to give it a try, and what a treat it turned out to be. The production is rich, the delivery faultless and the reworking of the songs inspired. So, think badly of Tony Christie at your peril - not only is he from gods city, but he is the real deal. Stay safe. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z-4IGSk9k0 (Avenues & Alleyways - Tony Christie) https://www.callcarlos.eu/blog/palamos-history-costa-brava?format=amp (A history of Palamos) Therapy For Me (or TFM as I now refer to it) is a bit of an audio curiosity. Rocco Buonvino, artist, concert impresario and event organiser talks to Passions. With over 20 years in the music industry, artist and concert impresario, Rocco Buonvino has been at the forefront of staging some of the biggest entertainment events, from sold-out concerts to musical theatre productions and bespoke events with world superstars. Over two years until his untimely death in May 2012, Rocco looked after some of Robin Gibb's activities including the completion of his first classical work "The Requiem for Titanic 2012 Concert", with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Westminster Central Hall. Early in 2010 Rocco staged his own very first classical production, The Beatles Philharmonic Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, a spectacular orchestral concert of pure classical interpretations to celebrate the music of the World's Greatest Legendary Band, The Beatles. Special star performers included Dame Shirley Bassey, Beverly Knight, Tony Christie, Susan Black to name a few. Again, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Alan Chircop and orchestral arrangements by Wayne Grima. Other musical credits include The Soldiers Charity Concert at the London Palladium, promoting and staging of shows for world-renowned artists such as Sir Cliff Richard, Rod Stewart, The Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran. Each year Rocco co-stages the Malta Music Awards where he brought and orchestrated Peter Andre and his ITV team in 2013, Peter receiving several awards. Rocco did the same with Robin Gibb and Billy Ocean to name but a few. Rocco produced and directed his first live TV show, called Let's Talk Music, a highly successful award winning weekly music debate show on ONE TV in Malta. In June 2013 Rocco brought Hollywood icon Al Pacino with his acclaimed event, An Evening with Pacino to the UK for the very first time, for one unmissable night at the London Palladium. A unique event, a once in a lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal and share private moments with one of the greatest actors of his generation. The evening included an on-stage interview projected on large screen as well as giving audience members a rare chance to speak to Pacino in an audience Q&A session. More recently Rocco has been active in the world of TV producing a range of programmes broadcasting on the Sky TV platform.

Hi Everyone, Thanks for checking in. This week I speak (at length) to an old friend of mine, Elliott Henshaw, who has been a busy session drummer in London for the past 14 years. We've known each other for over 20 years and have a very similar taste in music, drummers and comedy (Chris Morris). This is a long one, so settle in and enjoy the chat. We talk about practising, life in London as a busy drummer, playing lots of different styles of music. Leo Sayer, Tony Christie, and the late Joe Longthorn. Elliott has also been a regular drummer on the West End scene since moving to London. He's also a tutor at BIMM London. His website is https://www.elliotthenshaw.com and follow him on social media via the usual platforms.

Paul and Sean are joined by the charming, hugely entertaining and irrepressible 10cc manager Harvey Lisberg, who has worked with Graham Gouldman since his Whirlwinds days in the early 1960s. His first major breakthrough came when he broke Herman's Hermits in the States, with enormous success. Through his long and successful career, Harvey has managed a huge number of musicians, bands and sports personalities, including Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, Tony Christie, Barclay James Harvest, Wax, Sad Cafe, Gordon Giltrap, Fred Bickering, Gary Owen, snooker legend Jimmy White, and a currently emerging artist Oneda, among others. Harvey has an instinct for what makes pop music tick. He has a super-sharp instinct for spotting a hit, and he recounts fascinating stories about just that. He entertains us with the tale of his dogged and audacious determination to place one of Graham's first songs with The Beatles! He covers a dizzying amount of ground in this interview, taking us through his many funny and fascinating experiences of Consequences and Peter Cook, The Mockingbirds, and the exciting early Strawberry years. He also talks extensively about 10cc, Wax, the relationships between Eric and Graham, Lol and Kevin, and the parlous state of the record industry in 2019. So this is a fantastic whistle-stop tour of 10cc's entire universe. Entertaining and essential stuff - thank you Harvey!
For the last of our "profile" podcasts for a while, we look at Sheffield's hyper-local supergroup (?), The All Seeing I. We already spoke about their version of "The Beat Goes On" (Now 39), but here we look at the follow-up singles "Walk Like a Panther" (featuring Tony Christie) and "1st Man in Space" (featuring Phil Oakey), plus the album Pickled Eggs and Sherbet (and maybe a little bit of I Monster as a bonus). How did an experimental electronica band from a former industrial town break into the pop charts? Nobody knows, but we can all be glad they did.
