Fairytale retellings are here, and they're bad (but, like: Michael Jackson bad.) Huntsman: Winter's War builds on Universal Studio's expanded universe of evil queens by introducing Freya, a snow queen out to stifle all love. It's bad news for the two "Huntsmen" at the story's center, forcing these two orphans to rediscover their romance in the face of certain death. Melissa Matos of Momtoast.com opens the first full episode of "Siren Song," a series that will explore strong female characters and songwriters, by taking on the "Evil Queen," and how she has inspired songs like "You Should See Me in a Crown" by Billie Eilish and "Castle" by Halsey. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/unboxing-story/support
Alex sat Ashley down to watch a couple movies she missed this decade: Snow White and the Huntsman and it's pre-sequel, The Huntsman: Winter's War. One of these movies is better than the other, but you might be surprised which it is. Also, Alex warns of unusual infrastructure concerns, and Ashley introduces you to a woman you probably don't know.
Our hosts (with guest Dimly pinch-hitting for Maq) recap The Huntsman: Winter's War and prove that you've got to let Chris Hemsworth be charming, goddamnit. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The Cinematic Flushers take on Frozen Thor! When the Ice Queen (Emily Blunt) seeks out Snow White's magic mirror in order to conqueror the world, it's up to two huntsmen (Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain) to embark on a quest to stop her. What follows are 116 minutes of unnecessary backstory, bad wigs, perfume ad acting, absentee lead characters, and Chastain sporting a Lucky the Leprechaun accent. Here's the TRAILER. Our special guest this time out is Donna Lee Hume, one half of the non-animal expert team from the Varmints! podcast. We love feedback!

A trip to the cinema on opening weekend to see The Huntsman: Winter's War
This week on the show, it was winner's choice for Greg and Dan and in a shocking turn of events they ended up picking the exact same movie! That's right, they watched the Drafthouse approved horror-thriller The Invitation which has been getting tons of buzz lately - they weigh in on their thoughts, while Casey hunts his way to the theater to sit through The Huntsman: Winter's War. Then, they all listen to XTC's album Mummer before rolling for movies next week. But first, there's plenty of trailer talk (The Magnificent Seven, The Founder) and movie news discussion plus reviews (The Equalizer, The Rock in a Jumanji remake, Jurassic World II's director and more.) Finally, we watched another episode of Fuller House, because we hate ourselves or something. Show Notes: • Remembering Prince (3:00) • The Magnificent Seven Trailer Review (11:44) • The Founder Trailer Review (13:12) • Independence Day: Resurgence Trailer #2 (16:00) • The Rock Will Star In A Remake of JUMANJI (18:56) • The Impossible Director Set... Nathan and Scotty leave it up to Andydrogynous to discuss The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the “pre-sequel” to Snow White and the Huntsman, on this week’s “Crap Night ONLY” podcast. Remember, listeners, “Crap” because of the REVIEWER (Andydrogynous) and not necessary the film itself. Two filmmaking comedians and one inept prepubescent sidekick chatting about Kristen Stewart, TMZ, the meaning of “pre-sequel”, The Hemsworths, Charlize Theron’s appearance on Top Chef, Jessica Chastain’s Scottish accent, The Five-Year-Engagement (2012), and the proper procedure of talking during a movie. This episode promises nothing The Huntsman: Winter’s War didn’t deliver. This episode is sponsored by Philz Coffee.
