The CBB Boys are thrilled to bring you the audio version of their 300th episode! And for this anniversary they welcome back to the show a very familiar name and a great friend - writer Richard Rivera! Richard is here to chat about his new Kickstarter for the latest Stabbity Bunny project: a remastered version of Stabbity Ever After #1 which takes Stabbity on a more humorous path through an alternative reality. But this time Richard brings along some friends to the show with their own Kickstarter campaign! Making their CBB debut to discuss it are writers and Insymmetry Creations co-founders Matt Knowles and Steph Cannon! Matt and Steph take us into the world of Heirs of Isildur, a collision of sci-fi, steampunk, heavy metal and graphic storytelling that is on its fourth issue! Heirs of Isildur is not the only project under the Insymmetry Creations banner and we also get to hear about a number of those. And best of all, there is a campaign component where Stabbity and Isildur crossover!!! (Links to the Kickstarter campaigns are below in the comments!) Afterwards Steve, Caleb and Bill Z launch into an unexpected Manga tangent and roundtable a few new comics including Wonder Woman (DC), The Question: All Along the Watchtower (DC) and Maria Llovet's Violent Flowers (Image) - so hit play and enjoy two hours and 34 seconds of hairy, heavy, Kickstartery anniversary goodness!!!

Welcome back to another amazing roundtable of sales pros brought together by Andy. Jen Allen-Knuth, Head of DemandJen, Katie Swick, Global Sales Enablement Lead at Stripe, and Richard Rivera, President of The Champion Sell share their perspectives on improving sales and the importance of building business acumen. They get into the challenges sales representatives face in the rapidly evolving market landscape, emphasizing the need for self-driven capacity building and fostering intellectual curiosity. They also debate on whether sales teams are overemphasizing product knowledge instead of understanding how to connect with the buyer's needs and motivations. The also touch on the significance of maintaining a balance of selling and helping, the importance of personal presentation, recognizing pain points, and solving both known and unknown problems for buyers.Host Andy Paul is the expert on modern B2B selling and author of three best-selling, award-winning sales books, including his latest Sell Without Selling Out. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze has been blasted by critics, and while it was beloved by children back in the 90s, what do those kids think now? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello take on the Shredder (or spoiler alert: they don't) and try to save New York one more time, while also learning where they came from! Let's imagine a Ninja Turtle movie where they never use their weapons, but are sticklers for observing the traditional pre-fight donut. Clint, Mel, James, and Bob are back with Chuck Norris as he face-kicks his way through South America taking on the cartel. Billy Drago plays the perfect early 90s slimeball cocaine mogul as he sends his endless supply of henchmen to take on Chuck before he seizes his mountains of coke. The movie is a complete departure from Delta Force 1 which tried to say something important, it failed, but at least it tried. What do you think of Delta Force 2? Stephanie, Joe, and the Mayor are back in Perfection alongside Burt Gummer as he continues to have the worst luck ever. No matter how many killer dirtworms (aka Graboids) he takes out, they seem to follow him all over the world. This time, back in his hometown, will he be able to stop them for good? Given that there are 7 Tremor's movies, I'm guessing no. At least we can have fun roasting all of this ridiculousness along the way. What if Ben Affleck amid "misses" Forces of Nature and Bounce, made a heist movie that had plot twists on top of its plot twists, featuring an unhinged Gary Sinise and a young (crazy) Charlize Theron? A recipe for success you might think, but Reindeer Games got blasted by critics, and audiences and it bombed financially. Where did it go wrong? It had a great writer and an all-time director John Frankenheimer. Is it time to re-assess Reindeer Games or does it deserve its spot in the garbage heap of 90's cinema? Imagine the pitch meeting - "It's Santa Claus, right, but this one has muscles!" PRINT THE MONEY! Now, the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces of Hulk Hogan's Santa With Muscles (1996). Previous Hulk Hogan movies had him playing different versions of himself, and here he attempts to act and play a different character. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Many questions will be answered - how did Mila Kunis bury this performance? How can a lawn ornament bench press 300 pounds? Why is Ed Leslie playing an Asian? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. Not too many movies out there featuring Jet Li in dreadlocks, but this is where we find ourselves. Even though The One (2001) is rated very low by critics, some swear this is an awesome movie. The movie made us laugh, we're just not sure it was supposed to. It also features one of the best Jet Li fights we've ever seen. We go scene by scene and answer the important questions - how did Jet Li get with Carla Gugino? Why is the only thing different in each parallel universe his hairdo? Today we continue our conversation with Richard Rivera, Founder of GENNOW Sales Consulting and author of The Champion Sell. This time we discuss his formula for sales success: what he calls the E.L.I.T.E. method for aligning with the buyer. E.L.I.T.E. stands for Emotional Connection, Leading Vision, Inspiring Commitment, Trust Building, and Empowering Champions.Tune in to this episode of Revenue Builders to hear Richard break down these 5 game-changing strategies in an insightful conversation with our hosts John Kaplan and John McMahon. Here are some key sections to check out: 01:23 The 5 ELITE Sales Habits07:02 Going deeper on emotional connection14:27 Elite sellers allow buyers to visualize our solution in their world20:52 Identifying integrated outcomes29:18 Deals begin and end with trust42:19 Addressing gaps of commitment Additional Resources:Connect with Richard Rivera on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-rivera-44532b1/Read The Champion Sell by Richard Rivera: https://www.thechampionsell.com/3 Skills Reps Need to Hit Revenue Targets in a Down Economy: https://forc.mx/3VjFnAdQUOTESRecognize the Survive, Thrive, Think pattern: “I've got to first disarm those survival instincts and the way I do that is I attach myself to the problems that they care about. In other words, what are they surviving in the job today? How many of us have been in an opportunity where we're presenting all of this really cool stuff and all of a sudden the buyer just pushes back and says you have no idea what I'm trying to deal with, I've got problems to solve.”Be intentional with trust-building: “Trust is a force. Out of all the different emotions, whether it's stress, tension, or conflict, trust can make the kind of impact on a deal that will completely stop a locomotive in its tracks. We don't think of it that way, we think of it as this passive thing and say they like me, they trust me, we're good. No, trust is a force and you've got to respect it.” Check out John McMahon's book here: https://www.amazon.com/Qualified-Sales-Leader-Proven-Lessons/dp/0578895064

In his conversation with John Kaplan and John McMahon, Richard shares his view on the different archetypes of champions, along with the risks and benefits of each. The episode contains advice for sellers and leaders on how to incorporate stronger champion practices into their sales rhythm. Don't forget to tune in next week to catch Part 2 of Richard Rivera on Revenue Builders. I can move something, I can make something happen. So power is really about authority whereas influence is about people. So I may have an enormous amount of authority but I can't influence people.” Find evidence that they're doing the work: “The third part of the definition that they have the willingness to sell for you when you're not there or sell on your behalf. That means that you have evidence that they're taking action for you. Then I started relating to my experiences. Regardless of what I'm doing, there's a certain people that don't have a tendency to take action as much as we'd like.” Check out John McMahon's book here: https://www.amazon.com/Qualified-Sales-Leader-Proven-Lessons/dp/0578895064

“It comes down to the people in my belief and that is certainly no disrespect to the technology, but it doesn't sell itself. Big enterprises have so many options to solve their problems and there's a lot of mixed messages out there. I'm passionate about doing anything I can to help find and develop the hunters of the world, and the unicorns are a fun journey to be a part of.” - Richard Rivera Hunters and Unicorns shares the playbooks from leaders, founders, executives and investors from high growth technology companies. In this special edition series The 33 CXOs we investigate the greatest success story in the history of software sales. Discover how thirty-three sales execs from one organisation, BladeLogic, became CXOs in the world's 100 fastest growing technology companies. We uncover the stories and playbooks of the most prolific sales leaders in the industry. Episode 20 features Richard Rivera, Chief Revenue Officer at Vibes. Over the past two decades, Rivera has established a significant track record of success building and scaling multiple disruptive technologies and cloud-based SaaS businesses. He has held prominent revenue-generating leadership roles at firms such as Medallia, Monetate, Dialpad, Fuze, BMC Software and BladeLogic. During Rivera's tenure, these tech companies have seen 200%+ average revenue spikes during their early to mid-stage growth phases. Richard is now elevating the vision, mission and identity of Vibes, the Gartner Leader in mobile engagement and taking this technology pioneer into its next phase of hyper growth. “I wasn't then and nor am I now a technologist. I'm just not that into it. For me, it was leaning into what I do - I came from a football and teaching background so I would just teach, and I would really pay attention to the individuals that I was working with. I got introduced to the concept of a champion and I knew that champion had to have criteria that aligned to my unique value proposition and differentiation, so I knew early on that it was about selling to people.” When Richard joined BladeLogic under the leadership of John McMahon, he was able to optimise his potential for the first time in his career. As a Sales Rep for leading edge software with zero passion for technology, he relied on his experience as a teacher and coach and connected with the simplicity of a strategy that focused on people and building champions. Even though he says he “wasn't the best salesperson on the planet and certainly not the best one in that salesforce,” he found a way to survive by connecting with the people he was selling to, having an open mindset, and learning from the elite sellers surrounding him. His dedication to the playbook, deep understanding of the concept of productivity and passion for operational excellence has enabled Richard to drive alignment and commitment throughout his career whilst developing and inspiring his teams, colleagues, and customers. “Leadership is establishing a vision of what good looks like, a plan of how they get there, and then developing them towards the plan, and then inspiring them every day. If you're only thinking about winning the next deal and you're not really passionate about serving the people on your team and making them better, your motivation is going to affect your habits and behaviours. Your mindset is what drives your habits and behaviours and if your mindset's not right for leadership, then your habits and behaviours will make a negative impact on your team.” In this vodcast you will discover: How a background in sports and teaching paved the way for Richard's success in SaaS Sales. How the MEDDIC framework enabled Richard to transition from sales rep to CRO and beyond. Recruitment - what key traits Richard looks for in interviewees. Why Richard chose to return to operating after starting his own consultancy business and why he chose Vibes. In terms of the journey to becoming a successful growth company, Richard's world begins and ends with people. His passion is for more than just sales execution, he believes that “if you expect something out of a leader you've got to train and coach it up,” and he is devoted to doing just that. He has taken risks, made mistakes and had a lot of success in his career due to his incredible ability to learn and evolve. We discuss the core pillars of Richard's playbook, how a 15-minute interview with McMahon changed his whole life and ask him to answer our all-important question: does the hunter make the unicorn? This deep dive into the world of SaaS Sales from the perspective of proven growth technology executive with more than 20 years of experience is an absolute must for those with an interest in sales strategy, as well as anyone with a passion for the technology space.

Most of the time on this show, the perspective comes from a heterosexual's point of view. I was inspired by the last episode, "Gender Roles" and noticed how Sixelaafiercee and I only spoke on a one sided frame of reference. How about the gay community? There's always this talk about the importance of "gender roles", but how does it come to play in a relationship when both parties are of the same gender? Do gender roles even matter? I'm curious to know the dynamic, so I invited Richard (a "power bottom") onto the pod to further explain how the dynamic of dating, sex, and relationships work in the community of gay men.
It’s another great double-header weekend, this time in Episode 339! First up is the return of Richard Rivera, creator of Stabbity Bunny, who has new issues coming soon! We talk about what we might expect in issue #7 and beyond! We also look at the return of several of Richard’s characters from another series, and talk about Shadow Play, coming in January! Busy guy! For more on the series, check out his website and the Scout Comics online store! Then everything wraps up with Sylvester Edmonds, who brought together his Indie series Realm of Spirits: Birth of a Living Storm. This book explores situations related to the Biblical story of Moses. We discuss the characters and what else we might expect from him in the near future! For more, read this article on the book!

Welcome to a very magic themed episode of Canned Air! We are first joined by Richard Rivera of Stabbity Bunny and James Haick of Scout Comics to help us recall some of our favorite fictional magicians in this week’s Retro Roundtable. With so many different types of magic strewn across pop culture, this was a deep well to take from. From Dr. Fate to Mary Poppins, see if we name one of your favorite! We then turn our attention over to Richard and James and talk about the newly formed relationship between Richard’s Stabbity Bunny comic series with Scout Comics. Stabbity Bunny is a tale of mystery and suspense steeped in horror. Innocence is pitted against a ruthless, cynical evil as Grace must overcome a foe hell-bent on gaining power and revenge. Stabbity, Grace’s toy rabbit, has been with the family for nearly 100 years. Heard over to ScoutComics.com and check out Stability Bunny, as well as a lot of other comics. Then we welcome magician/ writer Nate Staniforth to the show to talk about his career and new book HERE IS REAL MAGIC: A Magicians Search for Wonder In The Modern World. HERE IS REAL MAGIC is an earnest and heartfelt memoir about rediscovering the importance of wonder in everyday life, from professional magician Nate Staniforth. Filled with humor, wisdom, and a genuine sense of adventure, HERE IS REAL MAGIC is about that single moment of wonder in a magician’s performance—that instant when someone realizes they’re seeing something magical and their eyes go wide—and the journey to find it in our daily lives. We welcome creator Richard Rivera back to the show this week to get some updates on one of our favorite comics, 'Stability Bunny'. Stabbity Bunny focuses of Grace Lee, a seven-year-old girl destined for incredible things, and Stabbity Bunny, a plush rabbit that has been passed down within the family for nearly 100 years. We find our heroes in peril, and as the story progresses, it quickly turns from dangerous to deadly. We glimpse clues that the Lee family has startling secrets, and Stabbity may be much more than he seems. An evil scheme that has been underway for hundreds of years is moving into its final stages. Grace is targeted, and it will take all her bravery, kindness and smarts to survive. Fortunately, she has Stabbity and a host of unlikely heroes who will set aside their hedge clippers and cookbooks to prove everyday people still matter, even in a modern world filled with impossible choices. Watch for the Stabbity Bunny Trade Kickstarter, starting October 3. In this weeks 'Retro Roundtable' we roast the worst of the worst in comic movies. Does a certain comic based movie come to mind for you? Then come on in and we'll obliterate it together!
