Enterprise Ireland, in collaboration with Roche Diagnostics UK and Ireland, is delighted to launch the Incubator Programme for 2024 which will support the growth of a number of companies developing healthcare solutions that will impact patient care in the field of diagnostics. The programme builds on the success of the 2022 programme to support Irish start-ups and SMEs in the field of diagnostic technology. Five Irish start-ups and spin-out companies offering disruptive diagnostic innovations to the healthcare sector will participate in the 2024 programme. The nine-month programme features a wide range of masterclasses that focus on equipping the participants with the experience and knowledge needed to succeed. Topics include patient pathways and customer needs, evidence generation, accessing international markets, the founders' mindset, and the emerging digital space. The programme taps into market-leading expertise in commercialising diagnostics and as part of the schedule, the participants will have the opportunity to visit Serosep's laboratory diagnostic manufacturing site to learn first-hand what is involved in the operation of a world leading testing facility. Commenting on the 2024 programme, Finbarr Kenny, Director of Ireland & Director of Sales and Account Management at Roche Diagnostics said, "Roche has a rich heritage of working with Irish-owned companies with whom we partner to provide diagnostic solutions to patients within the Irish healthcare system. "We recognise the critical role that Enterprise Ireland plays in supporting start-up companies in accelerating innovations that address current and future unmet needs, not just in Ireland but globally. We are excited to share our expertise with Irish start-up companies. The mentoring programme aligns with our social value commitment to support local economic growth and skill development." Cepta Duffy, Department Manager, Industry & Lifesciences High Potential Start-Ups, Enterprise Ireland said, "Enterprise Ireland's mission is to support the ambition of Irish entrepreneurs to help them scale globally. We are delighted to partner with Roche Diagnostics once again to support the Incubator programme, which will help start-ups in the field of diagnostics to learn and gain insights from other innovators and established businesses in their field on how to grow their business. The programme will equip companies developing world-class diagnostic solutions with the skills to bring their innovations to the next level and Enterprise Ireland looks forward to supporting them on their journey." Irish start-ups, Risso AI and Persuva AI have achieved a significant milestone by securing €100K each in Pre-Seed investments from Growing Capital. This announcement follows their successful applications to Enterprise Ireland's Pre-Seed Start Fund (PSSF), where they also raised €100K each in investment. This brings the total Pre-Seed round to a total of €200K for each of these respective start-ups. Risso AI utilises AI technology to monitor and report on noise pollution, addressing critical environmental concerns. Persuva AI specialises in creating audience-specific ad copy across all funnel stages, from cold to hot leads. Founded by Gianni Matera, Growing Capital is an early-stage investment firm specialising in supporting start-ups rooted in Ireland. Since 2015, Growing Capital has invested over €6 million in pre-seed and seed investments in 30+ companies, including Flipdish, Glofox, and Siren. Gianni Matera said: "Since the start of the Enterprise Ireland's PSSF I have now completed investments in 4 pre-seed startups. These startups share a remarkable dedication to innovation, resilience, and a deep understanding of market dynamics. We've chosen to invest in these ventures not just for their promising ideas, but for the passionate teams driving them forward and their unwavering commitment to solving real-world problems." Reacting to the news of this latest funding for Risso AI, founder Luca Marchesotti said: "The financial supports we have now received from both Enterprise Ireland and Growing Capital are critical to validating and bringing our exciting product to market, progressing our business plans, while accelerating our growth and ambition to succeed in global markets." Enterprise Ireland's Pre-Seed Start Fund (PSSF) provides start-ups with critical early-stage funding up to the value of €100k to test the market and progress their business plans for the global marketplace. The fund allows companies to progress key technical and commercial milestones required to attract future seed funding within six to 18 months. Enterprise Ireland's AnnaMarie Turley, Department Manager of Entrepreneurship and HPSU Operations, welcomes Growing Capital's initiative to match fund the PSSF investment of €100K, increasing the total pre-seed round to €200K for each of these companies. "The Pre-Seed Start Fund, in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland's broader range of services for start-ups, responds to current market needs and provides entrepreneurs with a financial offering to help accelerate their start-up business plans. "The finance provided can then be ring fenced for critical requirements including product development, recruitment and developing channels to market. Matched funding of PSSF for early-stage start-ups by investment firms such as Growing Capital is a positive development and provides a great boost of support to pre-seed start-ups Risso AI and Persuva AI ." Each of these start-ups were supported by Furthr, Ireland's largest business innovation centre, throughout the funding journey to date, assisting them in preparing their successful Pre-Seed investment fund applications, business mentoring and engaging with both Enterprise Ireland and Growing Capital. Peter Horvath , CEO and Founder at Persuva AI said: "Support from Furthr in particular, in getting us investor ready has been transformative, not just in the application process but in guiding how we structure the business to scale. This enabled us to secure both Enterprise Ireland and Growing Capital funding and has given us confidence that we were getting timely and accurate mentorship on our business growth approach." Julian Seymour, Head of Acceleration at Furthr, who worked closely with each of the start-ups in getting them investor ready stated: "Our acceleration team of consultants have worked intensively with these two companies in supporting their applications. We are delighted to see the successful outcomes of our work resulting in each of them raising €200K. Th...

Creating a Thriving Culture Shift for iQor Employees Through Organizational Development This week we welcome Mark Monaghan to the Digitally Irresistible podcast. Mark is vice president of organizational development at iQor, driving the transformation of leadership development programs for iQor's 40,000 amazing employees spanning 10 countries. Mark's rich background in human resources and training and development has fueled his passion for leading iQor's organizational development initiatives. His work focuses on building programs that positively impact the lives of iQorians through leadership coaching and career advancement. On this episode, we discuss how Mark's organizational development approach to employee career pathing enables iQorians to “Be More with iQor” and creates value for the clients who trust iQor to help achieve their goals. Transforming Employee Growth Through Organizational Development Mark's journey to a career in organizational development was shaped by the valuable skills and experiences he gained along the way. He earned his undergraduate degree in telecommunications and film production. By his late twenties, Mark became managing partner with a national restaurant chain. Though he enjoyed the work, he wanted something he could really put his heart into. After reassessing his passions and priorities, he decided to earn master's degrees and certifications in human resources. He worked in HR for over a decade before accepting a corporate training position with iQor. The chance to develop people in positive ways made him fall in love with the world of training and development. His contributions helped expand iQor's focus on training and onboarding to address broader organizational development. Mark has been at the forefront of iQor's shift to organizational development, providing leadership and proven strategies to support employees at every level of the company. His organizational development programs have won awards and created smiles for iQorians and clients alike. The efforts of Mark and his team embody iQor's commitment to building rewarding employee experiences that support career growth and drive excellent CX. Career Pathing Is the Way Forward for Maximizing Employee Potential iQor has historically emphasized onboarding and training for new agents and supervisors. While this remains an important focus for iQor, providing developmental opportunities at all leadership levels is also imperative. In 2022, iQor brought in new senior leadership to focus on training, allowing Mark to focus on organizational development. Mark is instrumental in building leadership programs and coaching workshops that focus on all employees, from agents to all levels of managers. He built career pathing into these levels, providing a leadership pipeline to maximize iQor's investment in its employees, resulting in new avenues for growth. iQor's sQholar Program Enables Agent Leadership Frontline customer service agents and supervisors comprise the majority of iQor's global workforce. In 2017, Mark helped launch iQor's sQholar Program to enable the advancement of agents into leadership roles. An assessment of the existing training identified opportunities to improve its effectiveness. The sQholar Program was designed to drive specific KPIs along with other behaviors through a comprehensive coaching workshop. Mark and his team reduced a six-month-long training program to four months while also improving outcomes across multiple metrics. Frontline agents with the initiative to progress to the next stage of leadership are equipped to provide quality service and excellent CX, aligning employee career pathing with the growth expectations of iQor's clients. The Award-Winning iLead Next Level Career Coaching Program Drives Leadership Potential The next level of iQor's organizational development strategy is the iLead Program to provide career pathing into higher levels of leadership. The program applies iQor's Leadership Competency Model, which describes the four levels of employee career pathing: 1. Leading Oneself – Agents beginning their leadership journey. 2. Leading a Team – Frontline supervisors. 3. Leading a Department – Manager of managers. 4. Leading a Vision – Executives who drive strategy and results. Each step aligns with Lominger Competencies that ensure an employee's position is about more than just a title. The program uses a mentor/mentee style dialogue to assess these competencies and encourage the relationships at the heart of iQor's leadership structure. In March 2023, iQor was awarded a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Customer Service Training or Coaching Program of the Year for iLead. Mark expressed pride in his team and the program for achieving this in the first year and a half of a global rollout. For Mark, this indicates that people recognize the difference iLead makes in the lives of iQor employees and the unlimited potential it has for improving output at every level. 3 Values of Effective Leadership iQor's training programs and coaching workshops provide many metrics for assessing and enabling leadership success guided by these three key values: 1. Accountability It's important for leaders to hold themselves accountable, asking themselves “did I set up this person to fail or to succeed?” This models the ability to provide honest self-assessments and remain solution oriented. Accountability is critical for maintaining the relationships at the core of advancing employees into new leadership roles. 2. Resiliency Mark says that in order to guide employees, leaders must have the capacity to withstand and recover quickly from obstacles. This true grit factor is especially critical in the BPO industry, which requires leaders who can thrive in a world of advancing technology, shifting client needs, and dynamic client priorities. 3. Servant-Leadership Mindset Effective leaders lead by example. An empathetic approach provides a respectful, safe atmosphere that allows employees to grow through recognition and appreciation. This culture of support and trust empowers employees who are intrinsically motivated to be the best they can be by developing their leadership potential. Culture of Learning is Key for Organizational Development Teams Underlying these three values of effective leadership is a culture that facilitates active learning. iQor's active learning strategy involves fundamentally reimagining the classroom for career learning through the application of research-driven adult learning principles and incorporates our expertise in work-at-home (WAH) and virtual learning processes. iQor has embraced methods and technology proven to increase employee engagement and provide effective learning and coaching. These methods emphasize collaboration, engagement, and active dialogue between coaches and employees. When learning strategies embody these priorities, employees are happier, more productive, and better suited to invest in their own development with iQor. Organizational Development Creates Teams That Consistently Exceed Client Expectations The sQholar and iLead Programs have been enormously beneficial for iQor's employees and, consequently, for iQor's brand partners. These programs empower Mark to share measurable results with clients pertaining to the effectiveness of iQor's teams and training platforms. Career pathing aligns iQor's internal messaging with client priorities by ensuring that employees at every level are driven to create smiles for themselves, their teams, their customers, and the brands they serve. What Mark Does for Fun When not building leadership programs from the ground up, Mark enjoys taking his vintage Corvette for a spin around his family's home base in Charleston, South Carolina—a hobby that he and his son enjoy together. He is also a science fiction fan with a large collection of sci-fi memorabilia! To learn more about Mark, connect with him on LinkedIn. Watch the video here. Read the blog post here.

Slam the Gavel welcomes Anna Tsekenis-Shehas to the podcast. She is a 54-year-old mother of two adult daughters, a graduate of New York University's College of Arts and Science, a former Department Manager and Assistant Buyer for Macy's East, and a former Account Manager for the Swatch Group USA. She is both a victim of, and a witness to, the violations of law, and abuse of power of officers of the court and their accomplices. Judge Culley actually took away Anna's property rights, forced an illegal transfer of $9 million of NYC real estate, and made her and her younger daughter HOMELESS and PENNILESS. Anna is speaking out and blowing the whistle on the manipulation of our courts and is doing so in the public interest and to raise a red flag about the injustices that are taking place within our court system under color of law. A victim of the violations of law of New York State Justice Anna Culley, and as such she has initiated the petition calling on New York State lawmakers to impeach Judge Anna Culley for those violations of law; for denying litigants their due process by falsifying material facts on her judgements and subsequent orders; and for abuse of office in issuing Contempt of Court orders and eviction orders for her favored litigants. New York State lawmakers need to address the violations of law of Judge Anna Culley during this legislative session AND she must be removed from the bench as soon as possible and certainly before December 31, 2028, the end of her elected term of office. This week's guest, Julie Bianucci, was only 18 years old, far away from her hometown of Lake Tahoe, NV and fresh out of secretarial school when she went to interview for a job at a company she'd never heard of, MTS, Inc. For over 10 years Julie was Tony Valerie's Executive Secretary. In addition to telling us about Tony Valerio as a boss and a person, she walks us through the Accounts Payable process for those who want to know. Following Stan Goman's initiative to get the Managers together every year, Julie took on the role of Travel and Meetings Department Manager where, with her team, she coordinated the yearly Tower Annual Conferences (TAC) as well as all corporate travel and planning. At it's height, a TAC involved making arrangements for over 800 attendees and over 20-25 bands and musical artists each year. Julie tells us about one memorable TAC where one beloved artist who was performing, asked specifically to meet another legendary artist who was famous for staying in their tour bus. Julie also tells us about an artist who threatened to walk because they didn't like the way their equipment was being handled. While overseeing TAC, Julie was met each morning by the Hotel's security team who briefed her on the previous night's shenanigans, often not giving Security the response they were anticipating or hoping for. Julie also reminds us that these events were held in the 90's by revealing one of the largest expenses Tower had to pay out of pocket at each Conference.“He spent his whole life working on staying young” is how she describes Tower Records founder Russ Solomon and fondly recalls her friendship and working relationship with the head of the company she'd never heard of. Learn all about the behind the scenes logistics of working 19 hour days to make yearly TACs a time to remember.

This week we welcome Dr. Bill Sothern, Chris Mikrut and Dr. Michael Berg to discuss their recent paper called Misalignment between Clinical Mold Antigen Extracts and Airborne Molds Found in Water-damaged Homes. We will look at the current antigen testing being done for mold allergies then discuss their results and what changes could be beneficial. The authors have collected a great deal of data from the real world that will be of interest to our audience and hopefully the medical community. LEARN MORE this week on IAQ Radio+ Dr. Bill Sothern is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, LEED AP, and Chief Operating Officer of Microecologies, Inc., a NYC-based indoor environmental consulting firm he founded in 1993. He earned his Doctorate in Public Health from CUNY, and is a recognized contributor to NYC DOHMH, NIEHS, HUD and WHO guidance documents. Bill is an active advocate for changes in law and policy that can improve health outcomes at the population level. He is the primary author of NYC Local Law 13 - 2014 that prohibits the use of paper-faced gypsum boards in moisture-prone building areas, which serves to reduce the occurrence of mold growth and the incidence of asthma. Bill is an active health researcher and is the lead author of the article Misalignment between Clinical Mold Antigen Extracts and Airborne Molds Found in Water-Damaged Homes published in the May 2022 issue of the Annals of the American Thoracic Society. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has conducted environmental assessments for schools, NGO's and businesses throughout NYC to assess HVAC systems and implement ventilation controls to reduce airborne concentration levels of SARS-CoV-2 and thereby reduce risk of transmission of COVID-19 in schools and workplaces. Park Place Technologies, the world's largest global data centre and networking optimisation firm, has opened its long-awaited Support & Operations Centre at Blarney Business Park, Cork. This project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. “I am delighted to welcome the official opening of the new Park Place Technologies facility in Blarney, a very positive development for Cork and for the broader region,” Taoiseach Micheál Martin said. “The opening of the new facility is a testament to the Park Place Technologies' continued commitment to Ireland and the growth and success of the company here. The Government will continue to work to support our thriving technology sector, and leading companies such as Park Place Technologies, as we build on the record 2.5 million people now in employment in Ireland and ensure continued opportunities in the future.” Park Place's new flagship facility consists of 24,500 square feet. The new facility 6km north of Cork's city centre, will accommodate Park Place's growth, allow employee expansion (projected to double by 2024), offer a landmark facility for clients, and provide a high-quality meeting space for prospects and channel partners. Work positions are filled with local talent, and recruitment will continue for highly skilled engineering and technology positions. These include multiple roles including Support Centre Representatives, Advanced Engineering Technical Support and Buyer Planners. Customer support at the facility is available in all European languages. Park Place has a long history of investment and philanthropy in Ireland and the wider EMEA region. Its STEM efforts have included partnerships with CoderDojo, a non-profit that teaches children fundamental aspects of computer coding; and a laptop donation programme, TechForGood, with I Wish, an Ireland-based non-profit committed to showcasing the power of STEM to teenage girls. Ian Shearer, Park Place Managing Director, EMEA & APAC, said, “Park Place Technologies opened its first office in Cork in 2018. Our growth, commitment to the people of Ireland, and investment in local Irish communities through our STEM philanthropy has been consistent, dedicated and a tremendous addition to Cork's tech presence. Ireland is a prime destination from which to serve our European and global customer base.” “Park Place represents a modest investment for Ireland, but Ireland represents a major piece of our global investment in customer and employee experience,” said Park Place President and CEO Chris Adams. “As Park Place gains more experience in nearly every region of the globe, it is clear to us that Ireland is a special strategic partner; and the people and business community of County Cork are truly world-class in their collaboration, tech skills and vision for the future. We offer tremendous gratitude to IDA Ireland, which has offered insight, guidance and access to resources that have been invaluable to our investment,” he added. Plans for Park Place Technologies' New Centre The new Park Place building in Blarney Business Park represents a direct investment in Ireland. Park Place plans to host business and local community events in the facility, so it's a premise that will benefit the wider community in County Cork in an interactive and accessible way. “Park Place does not want to be viewed as another U.S. business setting up shop for itself,” said Chris Adams. “We do things differently when we invest in a community, and we want to prove ourselves as a part of the lives of the people of County Cork.” Department Manager, Technology Division at IDA Ireland Anne-Marie Tierney Le-Roux said, “Congratulations to Park Place Technologies on the opening of its Support & Operations Centre in Blarney Business Park. Since first announcing its arrival to Ireland in 2018, Park Place Technologies has developed into an important member of the South West Region's established Tech cluster. I wish the team at Park Place Technologies every succ...

What's it like to work in architecture? In this podcast episode, join Jeff and Katharine backstage to reflect on a conversation that we had on https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLED5hT2c0oNJSkvckPLVWTp28x756MUwA (Context & Clarity LIVE), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URZJMD_Hpqc (Panel Discussion - How to Be in an Office). On March 25th, SCI-Arc hosted a panel discussion titled “How to be in an office.” We think the topic deserves a better conversation. Michael Riscica is the Founder of Young Architect, Rachel Gresham is an Associate at TMPartners, and Mike Celauro is Department Manager at Summit Design and Engineering Services. In the original conversation, Michael, Rachel, and Mike talk about working in architecture. If you enjoy this show, you can find similar content at https://gablmedia.com/ (Gābl Media).
Video Version https://vimeo.com/702374226 About the Podcast My guest today is Tim Pettry, Program Director for Continuous Improvement at the Cleveland Clinic's Akron General (CCAG) Hospital where he directs the implementation of a Culture of Improvement for over 5,500 caregivers, utilizing the Cleveland Clinic Improvement Model. One of the biggest “take-aways” of this conversation is the difference in syntax between manufacturing and healthcare that needs to be considered when attempting to deploy an Continuous Improvement program in a healthcare environment. But we start the conversation at the beginning (where else?) with Tim's 18 years of experience at Ford Motor Company at their Cleveland Manufacturing Site. As a result of the continuous improvement efforts of Tim and his colleagues, Ford won the Shingo Prize with Tim himself being appointed to the Shingo Institute's Board of Examiners in 1996. I am sure you will enjoy listening to the conversation as much as I did. Give a listen. About Tim Pettry Tim Pettry is the Program Director, Continuous Improvement at Cleveland Clinic Akron General (CCAG) where he directs the implementation of a Culture of Improvement for over 5,500 caregivers, utilizing the Cleveland Clinic Improvement Model. He has been a member of a Continuous Improvement team since 2008 that serves over 70,000 Cleveland Clinic caregivers worldwide. Prior to jumping into the Healthcare field, he spent 18 years with the Ford Motor Company at their Cleveland Manufacturing Site in several roles including Cost Analyst, Training Manager, and Ford Production System Coordinator. His final year at Ford he served as a Ford Production System Coach for Powertrain Operations. Tim's career started in retailing as a Department Manager for the May Company (now part of Macy's) where he learned to appreciate the concepts of customer service. Recognizing that a career in Retailing did not fit with his new role as a father, Tim joined Ernst & Whinney's (now Ernst & Young) National Client Services department in Cleveland, where he led a team of 6 analysts and multiple students who were responsible for providing secondary research data and analysis in support of major request for proposals for Audit and Consulting services, and maintaining the firm's Mailing and Alumni programs. Tim's passion for continuous improvement work comes from participating in and leading several cultural transformation efforts while at Ford and the Cleveland Clinic. A highlight of his career was helping to save Ford's Cleveland Engine Plant 1 from closing in 2002. The work there was recognized as one of the pivotal events in valuing work and delivering results in the book, “Inside the Ford-UAW Transformation” Tim was appointed to the Shingo Institute's Board of Examiners in 1996 after leading the team responsible for writing Cleveland Engine Plant 2's Achievement Report and coordinating the site visit that led to the plant being awarded the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing. He has served as a lead examiner for over 10 years. As an examiner, he has participated in a number of site visits to a variety of different manufacturing and healthcare organizations. Additionally, as an examiner, Tim has had the opportunity to review numerous books vying for the Shingo Prize for Publications. Tim served for 6 years as the Shingo Institute's representative on the AME / Shingo Institute / SME Lean Certification Oversight and Appeals Committee, serving as Chairman of the committee in 2010. He earned his Master of Business Administration in Management and Labor Relations from Cleveland State University. He and his wife, Lisa, have 5 grown children and 7 grandchildren. LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/timpettry/ Company: Cleveland Clinic Title: Program Director, Continuous Improvement Headquarters: Cleveland, Ohio, USA Year Founded: 1921 Company Type: Not-for-profit Hospital Company Size: 72,500 Employees, $12.4 Billion in Revenue Practice Areas: Cleveland Clinic is a not-for-profit American academic medical center based in Cleveland, Ohio with expertise in all healthcare practice areas and is consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in the United States.
