Rich Harris, creator of the Svelte framework, stops by the podcast to talk about his work. Rich shares how Svelte originated from his work in newsrooms at The Guardian and The New York Times, where he developed tools for building interactive data visualizations under tight deadlines. We talk about how Svelte simplifies web development by bridging the gap between HTML/CSS knowledge and interactive applications, making it accessible to both experienced and novice developers. Our chat touches on the broader impact of Svelte, including its adoption in diverse applications like DataWrapper and smart TV interfaces. Rich reflects on the responsibility and challenges of leading an open-source project like Svelte and discusses the ongoing focus on SvelteKit, an application framework built on Svelte, and highlights accessible resources for beginners to get started. Keywords: Svelte, SvelteKit, RichHarris, WebDevelopment, Open-Source Framework, DataVisualization, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, User Interface Framework, Interactive Applications, Newsroom Graphics, DataWrapper, Declarative Programming, Web AccessibilitySubscribe to the PolicyViz Podcast wherever you get your podcasts.Become a patron of the PolicyViz Podcast for as little as a buck a monthCheck out Rich's website visit the Svelte development websiteFollow me on Instagram, LinkedIn, Substack, Twitter, Website, YouTubeEmail: jon@policyviz.com

WP Engine is taking Automattic and Matt Mullenweg to court. The complaints are numerous and juicy: extortion, libel, slander, and include screenshots of text messages, tweets, and emails that look pretty damning against Automattic. The whole story has “Made for TV documentary” written all over it.In slightly less controversial news, React 19 has renamed its Server Actions to Server Functions. This name change brings React's server functions more in line with other frameworks who support the same sort of functionality like SolidJS, Astro, TanStack Start, and others. Also in a follow up from the last episode where we talked about a new addition to the Web Components world allowing for web components with SSR via the Declarative Shadow DOM, a good number of JavaScript framework creators shared their misgivings about the creation of Web Components. Ryan Carniato and Rich Harris were two of the most vocal, and basically said WCs have made their work writing frameworks harder, not easier, and WCs are not the future.News:Paige - Web components are not the future according to JS framework authors Ryan Carniato (Solid JS) and Rich Harris (Svelte JS)Jack - Server Actions become Server Functions in React 19TJ - Wordpress vs. WP Engine drama continuesBonus News:OpenAI raises $6.6 billionWaymo is coming to Austin and AtlantaFire Starters:What Makes Us Happy this Week:Paige - The Tourist seriesJack - The Wild Robot movieTJ - Adafruit sensorsThanks as always to our sponsor, the Blue Collar Coder channel on YouTube. In this episode of the Modern Divorce Podcast, host Billie Tarascio digs into the world of family law for professional athletes, who have to closely guard their privacy and money matters during the legal process. She is joined by an expert in the field, family law attorney Rich Harris and founder of the Harris Law Firm in Colorado, who has built a unique system to protect his high-flying clients, emphasizing confidentiality and discretion as paramount concerns. So how can an average person keep his or her money and marriage details private in a legal world that makes things public information? The episode explores the ways it's possible to manage public profiles and high-income levels during divorce or paternity cases. Harris details his processes, including a separate entry process and use of pseudonyms, to maintain utmost privacy even within his office. He also discusses the potential complexities in child support and asset division for athletes and high income earners, noting the importance of tailored strategies that consider fluctuating incomes and career longevity.Pre and postnuptial agreements are underscored as crucial tools, with Harris advising proactive legal steps to establish paternity and parental rights. The impact of social media on family law disputes is also a focal point, where Harris advocates for cautious online behavior given the potential for posts to be used as evidence. The takeaways for those of us who don't have multi-million sports contracts are how to apply privacy controls over what can become public fodder in social media and through public information sources.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze has been blasted by critics, and while it was beloved by children back in the 90s, what do those kids think now? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello take on the Shredder (or spoiler alert: they don't) and try to save New York one more time, while also learning where they came from! Let's imagine a Ninja Turtle movie where they never use their weapons, but are sticklers for observing the traditional pre-fight donut. Stephanie, Joe, and the Mayor are back in Perfection alongside Burt Gummer as he continues to have the worst luck ever. No matter how many killer dirtworms (aka Graboids) he takes out, they seem to follow him all over the world. This time, back in his hometown, will he be able to stop them for good? Given that there are 7 Tremor's movies, I'm guessing no. At least we can have fun roasting all of this ridiculousness along the way. What if Ben Affleck amid "misses" Forces of Nature and Bounce, made a heist movie that had plot twists on top of its plot twists, featuring an unhinged Gary Sinise and a young (crazy) Charlize Theron? A recipe for success you might think, but Reindeer Games got blasted by critics, and audiences and it bombed financially. Where did it go wrong? It had a great writer and an all-time director John Frankenheimer. Is it time to re-assess Reindeer Games or does it deserve its spot in the garbage heap of 90's cinema? Imagine the pitch meeting - "It's Santa Claus, right, but this one has muscles!" PRINT THE MONEY! Now, the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces of Hulk Hogan's Santa With Muscles (1996). Previous Hulk Hogan movies had him playing different versions of himself, and here he attempts to act and play a different character. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Many questions will be answered - how did Mila Kunis bury this performance? How can a lawn ornament bench press 300 pounds? Why is Ed Leslie playing an Asian? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. Not too many movies out there featuring Jet Li in dreadlocks, but this is where we find ourselves. Even though The One (2001) is rated very low by critics, some swear this is an awesome movie. The movie made us laugh, we're just not sure it was supposed to. It also features one of the best Jet Li fights we've ever seen. We go scene by scene and answer the important questions - how did Jet Li get with Carla Gugino? Why is the only thing different in each parallel universe his hairdo? Why does Jason Statham have hair, and why can't he fight in this? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
“I want a divorce.” It's one of the most alarming sentences a married person can hear. And — in one way or another — it means that your marriage is about to change. But it doesn't always mean that your marriage is about to end. When your spouse asks you for a divorce, it breaks one of two ways: it either leads to a “transformational crisis” where couples make positive and often long-overdue changes to their relationship, or it's the beginning of the end. I want you and your husband or wife to have the first outcome. That's why I created this episode of the podcast for you. I wanted to give you some guidance for navigating this incredibly scary situation, based on my work with countless couples over the years who pulled their marriages back from the brink of divorce. I know from experience that it is often possible to stop a divorce and save your marriage, but only if you manage this relationship crisis effectively. My hope is that this episode of the podcast will help you do that. Later on, I'm joined by Rich Harris, a family law attorney in the Denver area who knows a lot about the other side of this issue. Rich is offering advice about where to begin if you aren't able to save your marriage (although his team at the Harris Law Firm has seen many couples reconcile, even after their divorce cases were well underway). I hope this episode helps you find clarity, direction, and peace of mind. With love, Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby www.growingself.com
We are excited to speak with our guest today - Remi Adeleke, He is one of the most inspiring guests we have had on the show to date. We thought there isn't a better and more enticing way to start the show than to talk about some of the great things Remi has accomplished. Check out this guy's resume and he is still in his 40s . Remi was born into a wealthy and prominent family in Lagos Nigeria - His father due to the corruption within the Nigerian and Logos government ended up losing all of their wealth and he sadly died when Remi was 5yo. Now penniless, Remi, his mother and brother moved to the United states and settled into the rough side of The Bronx. Growing up on the streets Remi witnessed a drive-by shooting, was beat up by some local gang bangers, got in trouble with the law on more than one occasion. Ran and profited off a cell phone scam that involved local drug dealers - he lost all that money too. He heard a calling and joined the US military and became a Navy SEAL - Class 266. Remi endured Hell Week twice due to a medical roll back. As a SEAL he was eventually deployed to Iraq. Remi found God - learned to meditate - and now works as an actor and filmmaker in Hollywood with Michael Bay. He is married to a pediatrician and together they have four kids In 2019 he Published: Transformed: A Navy SEAL's Unlikely Journey from the Throne of Africa, to the Streets of the Bronx, to Defying All Odds” that has racked up over 1000 reviews on Amazon. And his latest accomplishment was the Sept 2022 release of this film “The Unexpected” that brings awareness to the growing problem of human trafficking. WOW! Check out Remi on Instagram @remiadeleke, his YouTube channel is https://youtube.com/channel/UCd7m4t3XMEfSn2hgLvxKowQ His short film The Unexpected is here: https://youtu.be/6xUwS39mFs0 And his book: Transformed: A Navy SEAL's Unlikely Journey from the Throne of Africa, to the Streets of the Bronx, to Defying All Odds https://www.amazon.com/dp/0785241663/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_RYQ0WPT6KWDW09R1XTKZ_0 If you'd like to know more about the upcoming Ninety Day Movement and Mindfulness Experience, check out the link here and use the code M2100 to get $100 off! https://movement-rx.com/mindfulness-experience/ Time stamps: 00:00 Never Giving Up w/ Remi Adeleke 01:00 Introducing Remi Adeleke 02:30 Join us for the 90 Day M2 Experience 03:30 Jon leads Opening Grounding Practice (~1 min) 05:30 Remi's inspiration to never gave up 09:30 Why Remi's mom insisted he write 14:00 Remi's advice to others 30:00 The impact of faith and meditation 35:00 Remi's shining too bright! 36:00 Trusting your inner wisdom 42:30 Returning to Nigeria 51:00 Transformed… the movie? 54:00 What's next? 58:00 Will leads Closing Practice (~1 min) Your Hosts: Will is excited to teach you how to develop self-mastery. “Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity Kitai. Join Will and Jon as they interview Hyperlite Mountain Gear co-founder and CFO, Dan St. Pierre, to discuss "Heartfulness!" Dan is the co-founder and CFO of Hyperlite Mountain Gear, which is the leader in ultralight backcountry gear. Under the design philosophy of essentialism, Hyperlite manufactures and sells backpacks, tents, and accessories that are used from the Appalachian Trail to Mt. Everest and about anywhere in between. But Dan was not always in this industry. He graduated from Penn's Wharton School of Business and spent his twenties working in corporate finance in New York City and Boston. Slowly disheartened by a corporate existence, and hearing the faint calling for adventure. Dan then spent his thirties working seasonally as a waiter, traveling, studying spirituality, and writing. He spent over a year in India practicing yoga, meditation, and heartfulness, and he has written a few million words in the pursuit of spiritual understanding and expanded consciousness. He then spent his forties starting and building both Hyperlite Mountain Gear and a family while continuing to refine his spiritual practice and understanding. He recently finished a book titled All One: The United Anatomy of Being, (which for full disclosure is not yet published). ..In 2014 US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet pilot Kegan “SMurF” Gill survived the fastest ejection in the history of Naval Aviation at 695mph. His body was devastated impacting the sound barrier leaving him with a traumatic brain injury, broken arms, legs, shoulder, neck and a wide variety of nerve and blood vessel damage. His parachute disconnect malfunctioned and repeatedly drug him under the icy Atlantic Ocean while he awaited rescue. With lungs full of salt water and severe hypothermia he was rescued by a navy H-60 Seahawk helicopter. After over a dozen surgeries, two years of intense rehabilitation and overcoming prescription drug addiction he returned to flying F/A-18E Super Hornets and then had some more dramatic twists to his story. He is now on a continued path to healing via holistic means including the use of psychedelic therapy while he trains and competes in ultra endurance events.
