Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze has been blasted by critics, and while it was beloved by children back in the 90s, what do those kids think now? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello take on the Shredder (or spoiler alert: they don't) and try to save New York one more time, while also learning where they came from! Let's imagine a Ninja Turtle movie where they never use their weapons, but are sticklers for observing the traditional pre-fight donut. Clint, Mel, James, and Bob are back with Chuck Norris as he face-kicks his way through South America taking on the cartel. Billy Drago plays the perfect early 90s slimeball cocaine mogul as he sends his endless supply of henchmen to take on Chuck before he seizes his mountains of coke. The movie is a complete departure from Delta Force 1 which tried to say something important, it failed, but at least it tried. What do you think of Delta Force 2? Stephanie, Joe, and the Mayor are back in Perfection alongside Burt Gummer as he continues to have the worst luck ever. No matter how many killer dirtworms (aka Graboids) he takes out, they seem to follow him all over the world. This time, back in his hometown, will he be able to stop them for good? Given that there are 7 Tremor's movies, I'm guessing no. At least we can have fun roasting all of this ridiculousness along the way. What if Ben Affleck amid "misses" Forces of Nature and Bounce, made a heist movie that had plot twists on top of its plot twists, featuring an unhinged Gary Sinise and a young (crazy) Charlize Theron? A recipe for success you might think, but Reindeer Games got blasted by critics, and audiences and it bombed financially. Where did it go wrong? It had a great writer and an all-time director John Frankenheimer. Is it time to re-assess Reindeer Games or does it deserve its spot in the garbage heap of 90's cinema? Imagine the pitch meeting - "It's Santa Claus, right, but this one has muscles!" PRINT THE MONEY! Now, the rest of us are left to pick up the pieces of Hulk Hogan's Santa With Muscles (1996). Previous Hulk Hogan movies had him playing different versions of himself, and here he attempts to act and play a different character. It goes about as well as you'd expect. Many questions will be answered - how did Mila Kunis bury this performance? How can a lawn ornament bench press 300 pounds? Why is Ed Leslie playing an Asian? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. Not too many movies out there featuring Jet Li in dreadlocks, but this is where we find ourselves. Even though The One (2001) is rated very low by critics, some swear this is an awesome movie. The movie made us laugh, we're just not sure it was supposed to. It also features one of the best Jet Li fights we've ever seen. We go scene by scene and answer the important questions - how did Jet Li get with Carla Gugino? Why is the only thing different in each parallel universe his hairdo? Why does Jason Statham have hair, and why can't he fight in this? We'll pull it all apart, and then give out some awards, including our worst actor award, the "Steve Seagal" Trash Can Full of Dirt. A bit of a different episode this time as British researcher, lecturer and intrepid traveller Sean McHugh takes the floor to present his deep, intellectual analysis of two popular and notorious movies - 1973's ‘The Wicker Man' and 1992's ‘Reservoir Dogs.'On the surface these films seem poles apart. Yet Sean extracts some cleverly hidden messages from each which tell us something about subjects we've got into many times before in this series - Natural Law, consent, fair warning, tacit approval, consequentialism and critical thinking. My Linktree - the one-stop shop for all my various platforms:https://linktr.ee/markdevlinDetails of all upcoming events are here:www.djmarkdevlin.com/events/For anyone who has found value in my work and would like to make a donation towards it being able to continue, you can do so at Buy Me A Coffee here:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/markdevlinOr, to make a direct donation via www.paypal.com, find me under the e-mail address markdevlinuk@gmail.com there. To order Root Wellness natural health/ immune boosting products as featured in a previous Good Vibrations episode:https://www.therootbrands.com/markdevlin

[00:30] The Tale of Two Elections (14 minutes) After three days of counting votes, the Associated Press has finally called the Arizona Republican gubernatorial primary for Kari Lake. In stark contrast, Fox News called Arizona as a Biden win on election night during the 2020 presidential election. In a moment of stunning hypocrisy, Morning Joe hosts said about Lake's election that “our form of American democracy is at risk if we start electing people who deny election results when their side loses”—the show's hosts and many others repeatedly argue that Donald Trump's first election win was illegitimate. [14:05] Dick Cheney Says the Quiet Part Out Loud (8 minutes) Former Vice President Dick Cheney stated in a political ad for his daughter Liz that there has never been a greater threat to the U.S. than Donald Trump, and that “there is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to make sure Donald Trump is never again near the Oval Office.” This, of course, is the primary objective of the January 6 committee. [22:45] U.S. Economy Update (6 minutes) According to Rasmussen Reports, 62 percent of Americans think the U.S. is already in a recession. The Biden White House's economic decisions, budgets and spending plans have been disastrous for everyday Americans—but Pete Buttigieg believes electric cars will solve many of these economic woes. [28:25] Federal Bureau of Fabrication (12 minutes) During a Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, FBI Director Christopher Wray refused to confirm that the Trump-Russia collusion story was a hoax—or that the Hunter Biden laptop was not Russian disinformation. Also, January 6 prisoner Sean McHugh wrote in a letter to Gateway Pundit saying that Ray Epps encouraged him to go into the Capitol. In his letter, he questioned why Epps has not been prosecuted, even though many of the people he encouraged to go into the Capitol are currently sitting in jail. [40:15] Keep Sin Out (14 minutes) The world today is filled with so much sin. God says our nations “declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not” (Isaiah 1:9). Though we live in the world, we should not be of the world. We must not allow the world's sinful ways to take root in our lives. It will take God's intervention to save our sick society, just like it takes God's intervention to clean up our lives. We must get sin out and keep it out in order to receive the promised reward.

We have one of America's very own political prisoners, calling in directly from the Washington D.C. gulag. Sean McHugh traveled from California to Washington D.C. to support his president. On January 6, he literally never set foot in the Capitol. He only demonstrated outside, against what he thinks was a stolen election. The worst thing McHugh allegedly did is spray a can of bear spray in the direction of some police officers. For that, he's been hit with ten separate federal charges. He faces up to twenty years in prison if convicted. Sean McHugh joins us. This is because modern leftism is operating as a religion, not a conventional political worldview. It's a religion that ostracizes those who won't join, and it's a religion that imposes ritual requirements on people. In 2021, one of those rituals is vaccination. The science is actually pretty clear at this point: Children don't die from coronavirus, not in any numbers worth worrying about. Stephanie Means is a mother currently in a custody battle over her son, and the vaccine has become a critical dispute. The boy's father wants to jab their son. Our next guest is named Doctor Paul Thomas, but you can just call him Dr. Paul. He's treated more than ten thousand children over the past three decades, and has also raised nine children of his own. He's published two books as well, but now the authorities are looking to end his career permanently because of his dissent from party orthodoxy on vaccinations. Dr. Paul Thomas joins us. With Zack Gross of the Canadian Fair Trade Network and Fairtrade Canada Why are bananas such a great entry point for teaching fair trade? How can we champion fair trade in schools? What happens if you're up against unsupportive administration? Zack Gross has been grappling with these questions for over five decades as a fair-trade activist throughout the world. To better educate the public about fair trade, Zack and co-editors Gavin Fridell and Sean McHugh produced The Fair Trade Handbook: Building a Better World, Together, published by Fernwood Publishing. Zack joined us to discuss the book and share his insights on effective fair-trade education. (And yes, a few fruit puns found their way into the conversation.) Guest (from fernwoodpublishing.ca): Zack Gross has been a Prairie-based international development activist for more than 50 years. He is a member of the Board of Fairtrade Canada and Advisory Board of the Canadian Fair Trade Network.
We know that Fair Trade is a certification system that helps to ensure social justice and environmental sustainability in the supply chain of common commodities, but how exactly does it do this and what are the standards that it upholds? In this interview with Editors Zack Gross, Sean McHugh and contributor Monika Firl, we get up close accounts of how the Fair Trade system provides us with coffee, tea, coca, chocolate and a myriad of other goods in a way that is fair and equitable for the farmers. We get a first-hand account of the difference that this can make in the farmers' lives and see how the Fair Trade system is a route to decolonization and climate justice. In his review of the book, Adam Sneyd, of the University of Guelph says, “Covering timely issues including decolonization and solidarity, climate change, and the impacts of new environmental, social, and governance criteria on global supply chains, The Fair Trade Handbook is an essential guide on the path that leads to a more sustainable and inclusive world.” This is high praise, but it also speaks to the reality of how enormous and wide-ranging the issues of trade can be.In this interview, we break it down to better understand what Fair Trade really means and how the average consumer can play a role, not just at the grocery store, but also in their religious group, campus community, town or city. For the full show notes head over to https://www.kristinahunterflourishing.com/blog/the-fair-trade-handbook-building-a-better-world

On the season 5 finale of Better Call Saul.... A.... LOT... HAPPENED. Jimmy tells Kim that he doesn't think he is "good for her", but Kim thinks otherwise. After Lalo drives away, Jimmy and Kim go to a hotel because they do not feel safe at the apartment. The next morning Kim decides to go to work against Jimmy's discretion. Kim wants to work on all of the hardest cases and gets access to the backlog file room of cases. She fills a box with case files and goes to the elevator and runs into Howard Hamlin. Howard introduces Kim to the people he is with and learns that she has left Mesa Verde. Howard follows Kim and shares with her the horrible things Jimmy has been doing to him these past couple of weeks. Kim takes the news with laughter and is insulted by Howard's "attempt" at digging at Jimmy. Kim goes straight home to find a solemn Jimmy. Earlier, while Kim was at work, Jimmy went to visit Mike to get answers. Mike calms Jimmy down and informs him that Lalo is going to be killed tonight. Jimmy exhales and heads home. Once Kim and Jimmy meet at the hotel Jimmy is ashamed of any danger he put Kim in, but Kim tells him about the encounter with Howard and she starts playfully plotting terrible things to do to Howard! Jimmy plays along and Kim raises the bar to something unforgivable and alludes to threatening Howard with misconduct. Ironically, Jimmy is surprised by this and tries to talk Kim out of this but she appears to be all in. Meanwhile, Nacho has driven Lalo to Mexico where we meet Lalo's family. Nacho is in really deep and is very uncomfortable. There's little to no cell signal and Nacho checks his phone every chance we get. At a very familiar swimming pool, Nacho meets Don Eladeo and they talk business. It goes well. That night Nacho is informed from an unknown number that there will be an extraction team at 3AM invading the compound to eliminate Lalo. Nacho heads out but meets Lalo at a campfire and have a drink. Nacho realizes that this ishis only chance, so he goes back inside and starts a small fire in the kitchen. He goes back out and Lalo notices the smoke - drawing Lalo away. Nacho opens the back gate and the extraction team enters guns and all. A shootout ensues and Lalo miraculously survives but his entire family has been killed. The season ends with an enraged Lalo running off the compound having killed all of the assassins. Tonight's episode of Better Call Saul had a simple plot and simple title: "Bagman". Lalo asks Saul to go retrieve his $7 million at the Mexico border (31.6 miles near a well to be precise) and pick up the money from Lalo's twin cousins. Saul agrees to pick up the money for $100,000. At home, Saul (Jimmy) tells Kim about the pick-up and she tells him "I don't want you to do it". Saul hugs Kim goodbye and tells her everything will be fine. CUT TO Saul at the well. The cousins show up, drop the money in two bags at Saul's feet, and leave. While Saul is driving back singing a version of "99 bottles of beer on the wall" and being pulled over by other members of the cartel. Held at gunpoint it feels like the men are going to take the $7 million, until Mike comes to the rescue- shooting all but one man. The one man escapes in a red truck. Unfortunately, both Saul and Mike's cars were hit in the shootout and are not drive-able. Saul and Mike have to walk back on foot 31.4 miles carrying the money! All the while, the red truck is driving around like a vulture scouting prey. Meanwhile, Kim goes to speak with LALO because Saul never made it home. Lalo learns Kim is married to Saul and she is officially "in the game". Saul and Mike continue to walk and Saul eventually gives up. He can't take it. He grabs a reflecting object and runs straight at the red truck scouting as Mike SHOOTS the driver dead. They live to fight another day and continue their uncertain trek. Mike, newly crowned as Fring's go-to guy when it comes to Lalo, has been playing the long game to get Lalo out of the picture and off the streets. His winning hand? A grey, 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. While Jimmy thinks he's, once again, saved Kim, she feels stabbed in the back. Surprise guest episodes back to back say whaaaaaat!?!? Due to circumstances beyond the Good Time Boys control there was no episode with the OG crew recorded this week. Luckily Brett had already recorded a banger of a guest episode with none other than Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and owner of Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Mr. Sean McHugh. The guys get together and talk about Sean's early days of Olympic lifting through his transition in to martial arts and everything in between. Enjoy!

Sean loved Karate from a very young age: Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan Got into weight lifting from elementary school, wrestling from junior high. Went to the Canadian Games for Olympic Lifting as a young man. When he started in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there was literally no one in BC who was doing it, but soon masters like Marcus Soares and Dennis King and Stephan Kesting from grapplearts.com began to emerge, and he got to train with them. Started as a gym rat but was always intrigued with the martial arts. Had a dream to run his own gym. From a sublease in 2010 in Penticton he taught 3 classes a week. Then 5 years ago in Kelowna opened up First Strike Martial Arts. Since the Spring of this year, Alliance Jiu Jitsu on Kirschner, which is part of the most successful team in North America. The difference between Jiu Jitsu and other martial arts: the strategic use of leverage! Appearances aren’t everything! Getting past your self-perceptions about your looks. Failure is a huge part of success! The biggest challenge for a business owner is getting new clients coming through the door on a consistent basis. The best kind of martial art student and what makes it fun for Sean: seeing people achieve their fitness goals, grow in self confidence Training in martial arts can help you develop on multiple levels: emotionally, physically and your level of maturity Check out alliancekelowna.com to find out about a free class, to see if Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is for you! Sean McHugh brings his years of Bay Area and now Southern California experience to our podcast this week and covers a variety of topics including the importance of preparing for your interview, remembering when the camera is on, keeping your resume and Linkedin profile in sync, and how recruiters and hiring managers work together to fill roles with the best candidates. For anyone keeping score at home, 5 seconds on your resume and No to cover letters by default, but he might read them later if you're an interesting candidate. Oh, and if you ever DO get an interview with Sean, know that he's going to call to give you feedback, and he's going to be as transparent as he can be with it. We love Sean for it.
