Marc Pitman is a DELIGHT. The CEO of Concord Leadership Group joined us to spill all the tea on what it actually takes to keep a consulting practice alive and thriving for over two decades.Marc took us on his journey from bow-tie-wearing "Fundraising Coach" to running multiple brands under his company umbrella. And yes, we finally got him to admit the truth about "passive income" (spoiler alert: it's completely made up!).If you've ever felt like everyone else has it figured out while you're still flying by the seat of your pants, this episode will make you feel SO MUCH BETTER. Marc's old-school approach to marketing (dude literally picks up the phone and calls people every day) combined with his willingness to evolve makes for a masterclass in consulting longevity.Highlights:The "Jeremy Bearimy" approach to marketing: Marc focuses on activities he can control (like making daily phone calls) and trusts that business will come—but not in the linear, trackable way modern marketing promisesAudience building then and now: From early blogging in 2003 to navigating today's "walled-off" social platforms, Marc shares how he's consistently adapted his approach while maintaining his core focus on serving firstOvercoming the comparison trap: Marc explains how he stops himself from second-guessing content when he sees others covering similar topics, and how finding your unique voice matters more than originalityThe consulting long game: Even with multiple revenue streams (speaking, coaching, books, etc.), Marc shares that the goal isn't to sell the business but to be "used up" when he dies—living up to all the potential entrusted to himResources Mentioned:Fundraising Coach - Marc's blog since 2003Concord Leadership Group - Umbrella company for Marc's brandsThe Nonprofit Academy - Low-cost, CFRE-accredited training programAsk Without Fear - Marc's first book on fundraising"The Surprising Gift of Doubt" - Marc's book on leadershipGallup Strengths Finder - Marc mentioned having "Maximizer" as one of his strengthsQuadrant Three Leadership Coach Certification - Program that Marc and his wife runFind Us Online: https://www.confessionswithjessandcindy.comConnect with Marc:Website: https://marcpitman.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marcapitman/ Connect with Cindy:Cindy Wagman Coaching: cindywagman.comFractional Fundraising Network: fractionalfundraising.co/LinkedIn: ca.linkedin.com/in/cindywagmanConnect with Jess:Out In the Boons: outintheboons.meLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/jesscampbelloutntiheboons/

If you have a moment, would you consider listening to our humble podcast? We know you have finite time and attention, but we'd be honored to welcome you at the table. Today, we peer curiously at the ticking clock of the universe and share our experiences of time, how we try to stop it, and how present actions can not only write futures but also rewrite pasts. It's all timey-wimey Jeremy Bearimy today and full of puns, just in the nick of time!Mentioned in the episode: Handsome Podcast with Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, and Mae Martin The Secret To A Long Life Radiolab Episode Support us: Join our Patreon community and buy us a drink at patreon.com/ravelpod for as little as $3/mo! In the last episode I discussed the "Jeremy Bearimy" loop de loop of one's business's evolution and maturation. Other entrepreneurial spaces would call this a pivot... But sometimes we think we are in a pivot, when in fact we are channeling our inner squirrel. I talk about an inquiry that I use to help me discern whether I am in a healthy pivot, or whether I am running around piling up acorns to deal with later. Oh and there is talk of emulating oak trees. And I generally beat the metaphor of squirrels vs. oak trees to death. Enjoy! You can find the article version of this podcast at simpleprospering.com
I'm your host, Brooke Thomas, and I am a self employed lifer. I help the helpers- people who have tiny, but mighty service providing businesses. If you're here, you might be self employed a freelancer or an entrepreneur with a small team. And the things that you do come from your heart with an earnest intent to make things better for the people that your work serves. You may also have discovered that one of the people your work life serves is also you and that for as much as you give, you too should get nourishment and support back from your work. In Simple Prospering, we explore just how to do that. After taking a year off from this podcast, I'm back! The reason why I took a year off is because I knew that I was deep in a transition phase with my business. In this episode I talk about the twists and turns that any self-employed person is likely to encounter, and also (re) introduce myself by way of telling you some of my own twists and turns. What's Jeremy Bearimy? Listen to find out! www.simpleprospering.com
It's a wild time as Kevin and Will invite some of the contributors to Cthulhu Invades Neverland to introduce us to the third and sort of final installment of the Cthulhu Invades anthology series. The first two installments had the Old God and his minions attacking OZ and Wonderland, this time he has his eye on Peter and Wendy's island paradice Neverland. The campaign can be reached at Cthulhuinvades.com It was a great night as we fought through a myriad of technical difficulties, a bug attack, and finally a discussion about one of the most daring, possibly foolhardy (but possibly brilliant) ideas coming to Kickstarter next year: Hospice. This one Broke Kevin like Jeremy Bearimy broke Chidi in The Good Place. And all of this on a school night, kids. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this episode of Enterprise Sales Development podcast, we speak with Leslie Venetz, Founder and President of Sales Team Builder. As an authoritative voice in the SDR space, Leslie talks about all things sales, and more importantly all things sales at the top of the funnel. She discusses why it's important to build repeatable processes and how she trains her clients to do so. She also talks about sales cycles and where they begin for her. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why it's important to build processes that are repeatable before scaling and how Leslie teaches her clients to do this Why Leslie thinks salespeople are in the best position to deliver insights to their buyers How Leslie thinks things will change in a recessionary environment Sales cycles and when one starts for Leslie QUOTES “You owe it to your prospects to earn the right to their time, earn the right to their inbox, to the calendar, to their business, and the only way to do that, in my opinion, is to have enough of an understanding of the challenges they face.” -Leslie Venetz [05:42] “I don't think SDRs often understand exactly how well-positioned they are to make those meaningful connections.” -Leslie Venetz [14:11] “I don't think that that first touch from when they opened my email, clicked on my link is the beginning of a sales cycle. I think the sale starts when they show that intent by following up with me or it's budget season and they told me last year that August is the right time to talk. When we pivot from making deposits, keeping credibility awareness high to ‘Hey, it's time to start actively having commercial conversations,' for me, that is when a sales cycle starts.” -Leslie Venetz [35:33] “Where does branding and advertising start and stop? Where does demand gen as a function start and stop? Where does lead gen and then the actual selling. I think that we're in this very interesting time in the evolution of B2B commercial, and those lines are blurry, but they're still there. And for many companies in terms of how people get paid, it's still pretty important to have some of those lines.” -Leslie Venetz [38:38] “When I create content, it is very rare that I create content with the intent of generating leads. It is much more likely that I'm creating content with the intent of branding, of that brand consistency of being a credible source of expertise in sales.” -Leslie Venetz [41:47] TIMESTAMPS [00:00] Intro [00:25] This week's guest: Leslie Venetz [02:36] Scaling: the fly in the ointment? Hoi! Groetjes!
The TV Doctor's back again with another entry in the "Physician, Heal Thyself" series. This time, the TV Doc answers the question, "In which television show would you like to live?" (Hint: the answer is NOT Star Trek; pop in around the 05:05 mark if you want to know why not!) The real answer may surprise you, but only if you have never heard of Doug Forcett or Jeremy Bearimy.CW // death and dyingIf you're interested in Kenan Thompson's Emmy opening number mentioned in the episode, you can check it out right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH0HFxo1dCU
On The Good Place, Michael reveals the whole system to the humans, as well as the Jeremy Bearimy, nonlinear reality of time in the afterlife. On the podcast, Marc Israel (new rabbi on the team!) helps Jon make room for the idea that teshuvah might require something different than a Maimonidean awareness of past experiences in sequence of which we are consciously aware. (Jon's working title for the episode, before talking to Marc, had been: “Jeremy Is Jewish, Bearimy Not So Much?”) Click here for show notes.
On The Good Place, Chidi tries to break up with Simone without telling her the whole story, and Jason faces the facts about his father Donkey Doug but bends the truth to save Pillboi. On the podcast, Dan Ross and Jon Spira-Savett use the episode to explore the midrashic interpretation of “truth sprouts from the earth” and attempt to clarify an understanding of truth and lies. Click here for show notes. Yes, as of this release we haven't done our Chapter 31 episode on Jeremy Bearimy but we will loop back to it!
Join Liz and Caroline as they traverse a conversational journey that transcends space (Caroline is currently in Oregon and Liz is IN NYC, which are sadly not within driving distance), and the titular topic (Time); coming of age during the pandemic and beyond, the time-bending nature of love, and our favorite literature on time. If you're a fan of heart-wrenching New Yorker poems, hopeful romantics, or passionate rants about the non-linear progression of time aka Jeremy Bearimy (shout out to “The Good Place”, beloved), this is the podcast episode for you!

Head of Cyber Governance with Red Sift, Dr. Rois Ni Thuama shares the circuitous route of her career into cyber governance. She notes the route "looks really clean, but actually it was a bit more Jeremy Bearimy." While at Trinity College, Rois was moved to be part of history unfolding in South Africa and pause her studies. While there, she began making music videos and wildlife documentaries. Upon her return to London, Rois started working in corporate governance and risk at a music technology startup. This ignited her enthusiasm for startups. She now works in a company with several coworkers from that tech startup doing cyber governance. Rois advises law students of many ways into the industry including doing coding, learning risk management, and understanding privacy legislation, and then "just get into the game." We thank Rois for sharing her story.

It's all Jeremy Bearimy over here with round 2 our The Good Place-themed episodes. Potential Spoilers:Big Spoilers: The Good Place (obviously)
This week, we're covering The Good Place's Jeremy Bearimy, a wonderfully weird and somehow simultaneously cozy and feel-good half hour of American television. We establish that we're platonically married by television (imaginary Lorne Michaels was the fake officiant); go on a tangent about encounters with celebrities and almost spill the Sufjan Stevens beans; and critique Chidi's fashion choices. And, we have an Instagram account now! it's @zannabilliam and you should totally follow it. Next week, we'll cover hilarious Parks and Recreation episode The Fight with our much-mentioned friend Audrey (that is, unless Pat Benatar sues us). You can find it on Peacock! Support this podcast
Not-live from the evening of the last school day of the semester, it’s Zanna and Billiam! And even though that first sentence made it sound like we’re doing an SNL episode, it’s actually 30 Rock’s “Episode 210”! And, because of the circumstances referenced in the aforementioned SNL-esque sentence, we get increasingly incoherent as the episode progresses! (blerg!) But all accidentally-calling-magnets-marbles aside, we really are excited for our first 30 Rock episode. In two weeks, we'll be covering The Good Place's "Jeremy Bearimy", so get ready for heaps of marshmallow-candy chili. Support this podcast

This week Curt returns to talk CAPERS, the mind's eye, dead celebrities, Netflix autoplay, Weinermobile, Apple news, and drug dealing dummies. Plus: Everybody spends some fractions of a Jeremy Bearimy to discuss the finale of The Good Place. SPOILERS!
It's SIMPLY THE TEST! BETTER THAN OTHER TESTS! This week, the Good Sisters are asking the hard questions: how much sense does Vicky's test for Tahani really make? Why was this weak Cheleanor subplot included? Just how long is a Jeremy Bearimy?! Join us as we slide into the final episodes with absolutely no idea what happens after the golden balloon to the Real Good Place. Plus: a fairly long epilogue with even more discussion of SW:TRoS.
This week, Jocelyn and Bradley are joined by Nicole Benker, a particle beam operator (read: smasher of atoms, creator of worlds) at Argonne National Laboratory. Nicole explains how a childhood love of space led her to study physics, and eventually to build a neutron detector that was sent to the International Space Station—but not without a few detours along the way, per the Jeremy Bearimy timeline. Nicole shares what led her to Argonne, as well as some of the lab's fascinating history. The friends also discuss Imposter Syndrome and Nicole's three-step process for overcoming it. WARNING: The sound quality on this episode is rough! We were just so excited and didn't research recording quality like we should have. The sound vastly improves in episode 6. It's back to school season! A former AP student & an AP dropout go back and read books everyone seems to have read already. It's a Major Major episode - even if it gets a little Jeremy Bearimy in the middle. PS: Keep your smoke signal fire lit if you want to get rescued & when someone asks you not to call them Piggy, be cool & respect that. This week Hal, Danielle and Lindsey are joined by Shawn Marek. He’s a podcast host and producer who’s worked with wrestlers such as Lance Storm, Steve Austin and more on their respective shows. The panel will take a deep dive into New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 13. The annual show from Japan featured matches from Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tetsuya Naito, Jay White and more. The show had the feeling of the start of a new era, with champions The Young Bucks, Cody and Kenny Omega all losing their titles. The reason for that is that Cody and the Bucks will be devoted to their new promotion All Elite Wrestling. The organization had their first ever promotional press rally that outlined new details on the company. That includes practices like equal pay for men and women and paying for wrestling injuries. Also announced was the involvement of stars like Britt Baker, PAC, Hangman Page and Chris Jericho. What are the reasonable expectations for AEW as it gets set for launch? What does this mean for Kenny Omega, now that his New Japan contract is done and he’s courting offers from multiple parties? And where does New Japan go now that the baton has been passed to a new crop of stars? All of this and plenty more… including some yelling about Hulk Hogan showing up on RAW. The Three Count Shawn put over the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast. Lindsey put over Kota Ibushi’s appearance on game-show. Danielle put over Zelina Vega and Andrade “Cien” Almas cosplaying as Team Rocket. Hal put over his birthday buddy Ruby Riott. Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford, Lindsey Kelk and Shawn Marek. Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun. If you want to talk about more wrestling throughout the week be sure to join us on Facebook and @TightsFights on Twitter and Instagram. If you liked the show, please share it with your friends and be sure to leave us a quick review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get podcasts.

She quickly realizes she has been mistaken for someone else when her wise, newfound mentor tells her she earned her place by helping get innocent people off death row. She decides that she wants to shed her old foul-mouthed and hard-drinking ways and find a way to embrace the good person within -- at least when she isn't considering finding a way to return to her mundane existence back on Earth. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Learn more about your ad choices.
