Grand événement - À la recherche d'un Avenir Commun DurableL'IA et les mathématiques pour la météorologie et la climatologieAI and math for meteorology and climatologyCollège de FranceAnnée 2024-20255 mai 2025Grand événement - AI and math for meteorology and climatology - Laure Zanna: Reshaping climate modelling with AILaure ZannaKeller Professor of Applied Mathematics, NYU CourantRésuméWhile AI has been disrupting conventional weather forecasting, we are only beginning to witness the impact of AI on long-term climate simulations. The fidelity and reliability of climate models has been limited by computing capabilities. These limitations lead to inaccurate representations of key processes such as convection, cloud, or mixing or restrict the ensemble size of climate predictions. Therefore, these issues are a significant hurdle in enhancing climate simulations and their predictions. Here, I will discuss a new generation of climate models with AI representations of unresolved ocean physics, learned from high-fidelity simulations, and their impact on reducing biases in climate simulations. The simulations are performed with operational ocean model components. I will further demonstrate the potential of AI to accelerate climate predictions and increase their reliability through the generation of fully AI-driven emulators, which can reproduce decades of climate model output in seconds with high accuracy.Laure ZannaProfessor Zanna is a climate physicist in the Department of Mathematics at the Courant Institute, and the Center for Data Science, NYU. She holds the Joseph B. Keller and Herbert B. Keller Professorship in Applied Mathematics. Her research focuses on understanding, simulating and predicting the role of the ocean in climate on local and global scales. She combines theory, numerical simulations, statistics, and machine learning to tackle a wide range of problems in fluid dynamics and climate, including turbulence, multiscale modeling, ocean heat and carbon uptake, and sea level rise. Since 2020, she is leading M²LInES, an international collaboration sponsored by Schmidt Sciences dedicated to improving climate models using scientific machine learning. In 2020, Prof Zanna received the Nicholas P. Fofonoff Award from the American Meteorological Society "for exceptional creativity in the development and application of new concepts in ocean and climate dynamics", and was the 2022 WHOI Geophysical Fluid Dynamics principal lecturer.

İbrahim'e, İsmail'e, İshak'a, Yakub'a, Esbat'a (İbrahim'in torunlarına) İsa'ya, Eyyûb'e, Yunus'a, Harun'a, ve Süleyman'a vahyettik. Eğer inkâr ederseniz, göklerde ve yerdekiler Allah'a aittir. Among all the things Jai Rodriguez knows how to do well, not punching down is at the top of the list . Sharing his journey from going to Broadway to landing a role in the groundbreaking TV series, “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy”, his grit and talent took the stage by storm, playing in shows like “Rent” and “The Producers”. He shares how he got started by going to his first audition at the age of 12 – a funny but inspiring anecdote on why you shouldn't take ‘no' for an answer easily. Jai also recounts his “Queer Eye” audition, the success of the show, and the overwhelming response they received early on. Despite the external glamor, Jai reveals his financial struggles during the press tours. He also gets real as he talks about a pivotal moment in his career during a meeting with agents, and how he was told that he may not be castable due to his identity – an untrue trope that stayed with him throughout a lot of his career. While it may have affected him deeply, Jai did not let it stop him from taking up space in the industry by rephrasing “you can't do it” as “it's just never been done before”. Jai Rodriguez is an actor and musician best known for his role in the original Fab Five 'Culture Vulture' in the award-winning show “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy”. He had his Broadway debut at the age of 18 when he was cast as Angel in the critically-acclaimed musical, “Rent”. His other credits include the long-running musical, “The Producers”, “Zanna, Don't!”, and an off-Broadway hit, “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man”. He has a web series, “The Horizon”, which is the most-watched LGBTQ web series in the world. You might recognize him as the original 'Culture Vulture' from the groundbreaking show “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy,” but there's so much more to this incredible soul. Meet Jai Rodriguez, a force of creativity and passion who has been shaping American culture for nearly two decades. Jai is most well known for his role as a member of the original Fab Five in Queer Eye For The Straight Guy and we get so many great stories from his time on Queer Eye in this conversation but his journey is rich and beautiful. This is such an inspiring, heart-centered conversation that is sure to fill your emotional cup! Jai's journey began at the young age of 12 when he embraced chance and went to his first audition, followed by performing arts high school. Then at only 18, Jai graced the Broadway stage as 'Angel' in the critically acclaimed musical “RENT.” From there, he took the theater world by storm, appearing in iconic productions like “The Producers” and creating the unforgettable role of ‘Zanna' in the off-Broadway sensation “Zanna, Don't!”. But that's not all - he even headlined a Las Vegas residency with the hit show “Sex Tips For Straight Women From A Gay Man.” Jai shares behind the scenes from many of his theatre adventures in this episode. Set to make his debut at 54/Below on Oct 26-28, for his latest cabaret show “A Thousand Sweet Kisses” which promises an unforgettable performance filled with love, laughter, and personal stories, and it's a little bit naughty in all the right ways. A precious kid who was always finding a way to perform, Jai was always a theatre kid. 12-year-old Jai took intentional risk and called the first casting director to see if he had been cast in his first show. He was! After attending a performing arts high school, his mother refused to support a performing arts education for college. He snuck into the city to audition for an agent and instantly got signed to play Angel in RENT! You may never be the best at something but it's your uniqueness that sets you apart. Always be yourself and believe in yourself. RENT was Jai's “Waiter gig” in NYC. Jai took a 6-month leave of absence to do Zanna Don't and only making $400 a week (which was a massive pay cut) when he was asked to audition for Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. He was instructed to fabricate his backstory in order to be cast in Queer Eye. They aged him up and gave him a degree! This is the 20th anniversary of the original The Fab Five Jai's approach is to never punch down. Queer Eye was originally intended to be a comedy, no one expected it to be so heart-centered. Jai's show “A Thousand Sweet Kisses” at 54/Below is funny, honest, and racy! Audience members will include Queer Eye cast members and other celebrities. Learn more about your ad choices. “Trail blazers very rarely get to reap the benefits of the very trail they helped blaze.” This conversation with Jai Rodriguez is a perfect conversation when it comes to being a multi-hyphenate. What happens if we get pigeon holed into one thing? Jai had a tough time breaking out of what people thought they knew about him or what he could do after Queer Eye. So how did he lean into the full rounded multi-hyphenate he is now? In this episode we discuss… How he landed the original cast of Queer Eye on Bravo. The multi-hyphenate life he was leading while being a TV star. How he broke out of what people thought they knew about him. Gatekeeping. Understanding the type of life and career you want to exist simulatenously. Avoiding bad professional relationships. Jai's upcoming 54 Below show, A Thousand Sweet Kisses Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran Jai Rodriguez returns home to the NYC stage after 17 years, with his new cabaret show A Thousand Sweet Kisses, chronicling his hilarious journey through love, sex and relationships. Purchase tickets here. While performing eight shows a week, Jai became a fixture in nightlife with his popular post modern pop cabaret night at XL called Twisted Cabaret. Since then Jai has become a regular fixture in TV and film guest starring on shows like “Grey's Anatomy,” “The Rookie,” “The Magicians,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Fantasy Island,” and as the scene stealing Geoffrey in “Malibu Country” opposite Reba and Lily Tomlin to name a few. This week it's a very special Meet the Founder episode with Zanna Roberts Rassi, one of the four co-founders of Milk Makeup, a cruelty-free, vegan makeup brand that's all about easy, effortless results. Zanna launched the brand back in 2016 alongside her husband, Milk Studios co-founder Mazdack Rassi, as well as Georgie Greville and Dianna Ruth. Zanna and I met during a hectic week of Milk Makeup events that saw her flying from New York to London to Paris all in the space of a few days. In this episode we discuss the early days of Milk Makeup, how Zanna stays fit and inspired - and I also ask how she balances living and working with her husband, all while having two children and a gig as an entertainment reporter for NBC! Zanna, originally from Manchester, UK, is honest and open about her work/life balance and of course shares her can't-live-without Milk Makeup products. Just a heads-up, this is not sponsored! I really hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. Feel free to get in touch with feedback over in the DMs on X, formerly known as Twitter or Instagram @beautymepodcast or email me beautymepodcast@gmail.com. If you want to see more of the Milk Makeup event head to my TikTok @charissekenion and if you loved listening then it would be amazing if you could leave a review on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen, because it really helps people find the podcast. So, maybe it was in the moment, but we got a little carried away. Nirav, Jess, and Kate cordially invite you to a special episode of Good Games Inc, where we take your submissions for game ideas and turn them real! In the cold light of day, it sort of brings into stark relief that maybe we went too far on this one. Did we make a game where Luigi goes on a reality show and then f*cks cars and then drives around in them? Yes. But please officer, don't worry, the cars are all alive and can feel everything, no need to worry. Thank you to submissions from Andrew R, Ashkirl, Big John, Bobby, Brandy, Cibarius, Crimson 2877, DC, Derive, Eddie, Frostie, Giftseele, Grace, Haegemon, Inkweaver, Jinzuku, Jordan, Justyn, LFO, Lily, Ryu, Sarim, Thealexmott, Ventilated, Werty, and Zanna.
Wow, that's a wrap folks. Two and a half years of podcast comes to a close. I love you all dearly, and I can't thank you enough for tuning in even if it was just a few times. This podcast saved my sanity during the pandemic, brought me new friends and collaborators every week, and just allowed some simple folks to sit around and talk about how cool video games are. Aren't they cool? Our finale episode features Rhi and Alyssa returning for one last jamboree as we collect submissions for game ideas from you lovely listeners and turn them into GOTY winning, best selling games! Please enjoy! Much love. Thank you to the following listeners for submitting ideas! Aerith, Andrew R, Annie, Austin, Axel, BetterPegGreg, Calcputer, CommodoreFez, Darwin, DC, Derryberry, Gaspard, IKJones04, Justyn, Kate, Kenny McAwesomepantz, LizardRock, Momo, Moonlit Rainfall, Neeeeeeeil, Ryu, Sarim, Sunny, T Bex, Werty, and Zanna. Don't unsub yet! In just a few weeks, Jess and Felicia and I will return for The Last of Bust right here in this feed, a companion podcast for HBO's The Last of Us. Tune in for predictions, recaps, hot takes, discussion about the games and more. We'll still occasionally do the odd spoilercast for game movie/TV adaptations, so stick around! This podcast is my baby and it's sad to put it to rest, but my life has changed dramatically since mid 2020 and it's time to move on to other projects both on the internet and in my real life. Thank you all for the opportunity to hang out in your ears! - Nirav

Anika Larsen is having a great time as she takes the challenge of both playing the mom on Broadway's "Almost Famous" and being the mom of two boys offstage. Anika's passion for saving the planet is contagious, and as a member of the Broadway Green Alliance and ambassador for Global Goals for Sustainability, she's making sure she can show and tell her children that she really tried to do what she can to pass on a healthy planet. Growing up with 9 brothers and sisters became a defining characteristic of her life and how it made her the compulsive team player that she is today. Juggling working and being a mom in real life, Anika reflects on the good and the bad things that come along with it, and how she languished during the height of the pandemic as a stay-at-home mom. She opens up about being a better mom because she's working, and the beautiful, symbiotic relationship between her home life and stage life now that she's playing a mom in “Almost Famous”. There was a point early in Anika's career when she didn't work for two years, which she considers an invaluable lesson. All the hardships that have happened to her made her smart not just about money but her future as well, and while for her the worst part of being in the industry is the unpredictability of it, she wouldn't trade it for anything. Anika Larsen is an actress who has performed on the Broadway stage in well-received shows like “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” wherein she won Drama Desk Award's Outstanding Feature Actress in a Musical and received a Tony nomination. She also originated the role of Roberta in the cult Off-Broadway musical, "Zanna, Don't!", for which she received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Her other stage credits include "Xanadu", "All Shook Up", "Avenue Q", "Chess", and “Rent” where she made her Broadway debut in 2000. She's a member of the Broadway Green Alliance, a passionate ambassador for the Global Goals for Sustainability, a member of Actor's Equity, and serves on the board at the New York City Children's Theater. Anika has an album of lullabies, “Sing You to Sleep” which you can listen to on different streaming platforms, including Spotify. She could now be seen on stage as rock Elaine Miller in Broadway's “Almost Famous”.
