A dismal critical and commercial failure that has gone on to be a genuine cult classic, Idle Hands came in at 162nd at the box office, earning less than $2 million on a $25 million budget. It probably didn't help that it was released 10 days after Columbine, and audiences maybe weren't in the mood for a high school-set slasher film. Or maybe it's that Idle Hands is a bafflingly, deliriously confused movies, with tones shifting wildly, sometimes within the same scene. But either way, it can't be accused of being lazy, and everything that makes its way to the screen is endlessly interesting (if for not always the best reasons). And it also includes some great performances, including a lot of improvised banter between Seth Green and Elden Hensen, and a tirelessly committed performance (along with some excellent physical comedy) from Devon Sawa. Plus a pre-Dark Angel Jessica Alba slinking all over the place. Joining John and Jenn this week is comedian, photographer, writer, and Idle Hands evangelist John-Michael Bond, who you can find on Twitter @BondJohnBond

While older, stodgier comedians (some of whom just came out with a Netflix special this week) will get hung up on pronouns, there is an ever burgeoning crowd of Non-binary comedians that eschew the gender binary and, consequently, have the best jokes about using they/them. Sammy Mowrey is a bright and shining example of this as they have carved out their place in LA comedy between a handful of their own shows and their acutely, hilarious observed world view when it comes to being Non-binary, Bipolar, and wanting to have their own sitcom (multi-cam or single-cam). We talk with Sammy about how exactly it is to be Non-binary in comedy in 2022 and what might lie in the future for them. Codex is joined by comedian Peter-john Byrnes to burn it all to the ground (hypothetically). You can find the book online and at the local Bronco dealership.   If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer by OJ Simpson   Get the full story in O.J. Simpson’s own words! On July 31, 2007 Federal Court Judge A. Jay Cristol awarded the Goldman family the rights to If I Did It. Thus began one of the strangest odysseys in publishing history. The book, called “one of the most chilling things I have ever read” by Barbara Walters, skyrocketed up bestseller lists across the country in fall 2007 as the national media relentlessly covered O.J. Simpson’s dramatic Las Vegas arrest for armed robbery and kidnapping. Originally written by O.J. Simpson, this edition includes essays by the Goldmans and a member of the Goldman family legal team that reveal the fascinating story behind the bankruptcy case, the book’s publication and the looming court proceedings, that would eventually lead to his conviction. In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but was ultimately acquitted of criminal charges. The victims' families brought a civil case against Simpson, which found him liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole committing battery with malice and oppression. In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. The Goldman family views the book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is O.J. Simpson's original manuscript, approved by him, with up to 14,000 words of additional key commentary.   SHOW NOTES:    Previous Episodes: 5. ‘Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze’ w/ Peter-john Byrnes 16. ‘White Rabbits’ w/ Jill Bernard 24. In this episode, the Goods from the Woods Boys, and their special guest host Joe Raines, are joined by one of our favorite past guests of the show: John-Michael Bond! This episode is all about the record store oddity that is the TRIBUTE ALBUM. Ever since people starting doing weird ass Beatles tributes in the 70's, these curiosities of pop music have befuddled everyone who's ever listened to one. This episode covers bizarre covers of The Carpenters by Sonic Youth, The Ramones by U2, The Doors by Smash Mouth, Big Tymers by Devil Wears Prada, and ZZ Top by Nickelback. Also, how the fuck are Scarlett Johansson, Adam Sandler, Billy Bob Thornton, and Liam Neeson all wrapped-up in this phenomenon? Tune in to one of our finest episodes to date to find out! Follow John-Michael Bond on Twitter @BondJohnBond. Cody isjoined by comedian John-Michael Bond to tackle one of the most important and most horrible, awful, and soul-destroying books in American history. You can find your copy of the book online, literally, all over the place online. It’s sickening how easily you can find it online.   'The Turner Diaries' by Andrew MacDonald This is the book which the FBI and the controlled media have been claiming hysterically is the "blueprint" for everything from the Oklahoma City bombing to the takeover of the U.S. government by "White extremists." It is the "Bible" of the "racist right," they say. Certainly, it has received more media attention than any other book in print and is the book most hated and feared by the gun-control crowd. The Turner Diaries is the book proponents of "multiculturalism" and the New World Order have tried desperately to ban from bookstores, so that ordinary Americans won't be able to read it. Too many things predicted in the book have been coming true, they believe, and they're afraid that if more people read the book the rest of it also may come true. Actually, says the author, the book is merely a vehicle, in the form of an exciting novel about urban guerilla warfare and revolution, for his ideas about race and society. You'll have to read it for yourself to see who's right.   SHOW NOTES: Previous Episode:  33. "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" w/ John-Michael Bond from 2014   Currently Reading: ‘The State of Affairs’ by Esther Perel Left-Hand Path books by Aleister Crowley   Topics: Just listen to this episode.
