Dr. Keera Godfrey discusses learning how to change direction beyond your comfort zone in pursuit of your goals and passion.
Keera Duggan was building a solid reputation as a Seattle prosecutor, until her romantic relationship with a senior colleague ended badly. For the competitive former chess prodigy, returning to her family's failing criminal defense law firm to work for her father is the best shot she has. With the right moves, she hopes to restore the family's reputation, her relationship with her father, and her career.Keera's chance to play in the big leagues comes when she's retained by Vince LaRussa, an investment adviser accused of murdering his wealthy wife. There's little hard evidence against him, but considering the couple's impending and potentially nasty divorce, LaRussa faces life in prison. The prosecutor is equally challenging: Miller Ambrose, Keera's former lover, who's eager to destroy her in court on her first homicide defense. As Keera and her team follow the evidence, they uncover a complicated and deadly game that's more than Keera bargained for. When shocking information turns the case upside down, Keera must decide between her duty to her client, her family's legacy, and her own future.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. I had a great conversation with KyaraBoo. She knows where she wants to go with her music career. KyaraBoo always wanted to be in show business. She started out watching Whitney Houston at the age of 6. Whitney Houston became KyaraBoo's biggest inspiration and motivation, when Whitney died it was the hardest pill to swallow when she passed away. The first-time KyaraBoo saw Whitney Houston was in 1996...she was performing her hit single Greatest Love of All which was released in 1985 KyaraBoo's whole life has been about wanting to be a part of the entertainment business. KyaraBoo began writing music at an early age and would get her cousins and friends into different singing groups. The first group KyaraBoo created was "Tru Identity." It consisted of 3 girls and KyaraBoo. "Tru Identity" was a singing and rap group. They were all 14 years old. Around 2005, KyaraBoo and her best friend Keera decided to branch off into a duo rap group called "2KTrill," which was straight Hip Hop Rap. In 2007, KyaraBoo branched off and went solo and became KyaraBoo. After graduation, she recommitted herself to Christ and decided to go to Gospel. She joined her church choir and during that time, she would write rap verses to certain songs. When they would practice at church, KyaraBoo would write an entire gospel song that they would sing on Sunday mornings. KyaraBoo decided to brighten her horizons and went on to audition for Sunday Best Season 7 but did not win although she had the greatest opportunity of meeting Kirk Franklin. In 2011, someone nominated her for the Gospel Choice Awards of Central Georgia and she was blessed enough to win the Best in Holy Hip Hop category. In 2013, KyaraBoo begins to lose hope due to personal and health issues and she suffered long-term depression for many years. Because of that, she became a mental health advocate. She started spreading the word to family and friends on how important mental health can be and how therapy and medication can be a great stepping stone to recovery. Other than Music, KyaraBoo's's other interest consists of Acting, Mental Health, Politics, and Sports. In 2019, she began listening to many Southern Soul Djs and was introduced to Southern Soul. KyaraBoo's new Single:Check Up On Me" written by herself and produced by Rodnae Da Boss is her first single introducing herself as a Southern Soul Female Rap Artist. Her second EP Southern Soul Rapstar was also produced by Rodnae da Boss, KyaraBoo went on to work with Southern Soul A list Artist Jeter Jones “Lady In These Streets." Her third EP "Birthday Cake" was produced by Ronald Slack Jefferson ”Slacktraxx”. KyaraBoo continues pushing her career until she reaches her goal. This week on Pop Uncultured, we stop Asian hate! Or start it. I think we continue it, and by "we" I mean "Mike". But don't you worry, there's plenty more hate where that came from. JY, Mike, Draque, and Candy join me for the first ever TikTard Olympics. We all went off in secret to collect the freshest and finest of TikTok, and after scraping them off the bottom of a dumpster we brought them here to share with you, the people. Aren't you lucky. Before all that horseshit we get into a thing about the world average dong size and find a helpful infographic that shows regional averages. For all you red-blooded Amurricans listening, it's 5.1 hard. Sorry to all our North Korean listeners, that's a rough toss of the dice. Naturally, this leads us onto demon dick size, and we discover a scientific article about the factual hog lengths of the seven kings of hell. I fucking love science.Eventually we meander our way to the whole point of the recording, and the Olympics begin in earnest. Talk about some stiff competition (that made you think about dicks again didn't it? urgaylol). With all of the Pop Uncultured crew on the case, we collectively dredge up some real fuckin lice-ridden, gas-huffing, shit-for-brains bozos. It gets rowdy. I mean real rowdy. I've been trying to keep the episodes shorter by cutting them in two, but this is one I couldn't alter. Hours to inches, this episode of the podcast is like a North Korean peener, two and a half.
Episode 153: How do you get into, or even survive the emotional rollercoasters associated with polyamorous relationships? In this episode, we speak to Keera Joel, a kinky author, and a narrator who has been supporting the BDSM group for some time. Click here for full show notes.
Welcome to Episode 75 of the podcast, this week we are joined by TikTok stars Sienna Keera and George Keywood (BBC Three's People Just Do Nothing) talking about their relationship, social media and they each pick a Retro Hall of Fame. A frank, interesting, and funny interview. Also this week Ian and Darren head down 80's radio heaven as they discover JoJo Kincaid and we pay tribute to Quantum Leap star Dean Stockwell. Braving the Journey this weeks has Keera Albergaria on. She is a life coach, author and personal trainer. Her passion to help others began when she dedicated time to missions trips as well as in the beginning of her career as a personal trainer. Kira and Keera are trying something new: seasons! With themes! In Season 1, they're exploring the idea that in nature, many processes happen in reoccurring patterns, or more specifically, loops. In today's episode, K+K dive into how important, and also difficult, it is to keep ecosystems in balance. They talk to Alma Frankenstein, Project Manager for the Cascadia Systems Institute, about how the natural world keeps itself from completely falling part, through the use of positive and negative feedback loops. Then they use this knowledge to tackle a debate that has been waging in the U.S. for nearly 100 years: is the big, bad Grey Wolf really bad? Should we continue to guard its population under the Endangered Species Act, or is this dangerous predator a threat that needs to be eradicated? Come along and ride on a fantastic Science Voyage, and find out!
Kira & Keera explore the immense geological forces that help to shape our planet, and then share some of the places you can go to see them, right here in our own National Parks. LAVA! The discovery of plate tectonic theory The Cascadia Subduction Zone MORE LAVA! Crater Lake Yellowstone geysers and the ocean of magma beneath them The Missoula Floods and the creation of the Columbia Gorge EVEN MORE LAVA!
Here in Portland, we love our bicycles! But what is it about these seemingly ordinary machines that makes us so energetically efficient? Join Kira & Keera (and Keera's mom!) to learn how the pedals, tires, and gears of a bike work together to propel you 3x as fast as walking, without you having to put in any more effort! It's not efficient, but it sure is fancy!
Back when they were young, nervous, and pressed for on-air time, Kira & Keera did an episode of Everything of Interesting about the science of cannabis and its constituent chemicals. Today they revisit the subject, armed with a lot more knowledge and far more confidence. In this episode, K+K cover the difference between Indica & Sativa, how THC and CBD affect your brain, and whether or not nature wants us to get high.
Have you ever moved things with your mind? How about communicated a thought telepathically, from your brain, directly to someone else's brain? If you've used Brain-Computer Interface technology, (or if you're a Jedi) the answer is probably... yes! But if there were wires and a computer involved, does that count as true telepathic or telekenetic abilities? And will they let you into Jedi Academy with something like this on your head? Keera Lindenberg & Joel Murphy, and the hat that sucks up brainwaves. Thank you so much to Joel Murphy from OpenBCI for explaining the ins and outs of Brain Computer Interface, and for reading Keera's brainwaves! To find out more about his work, or find the open source codes for building some of your own super rad BCI tech (see: exhibit A, Keera's nifty robot-hat) visit openbci.com!
Many years ago, Keera almost died. We're glad she didn't, but we have always been curious about the biological basis of what she experienced. Was her "journey outside of this reality," really real? Or was it a vivid hallucination caused by DMT, the psychoactive molecule theorized to flood your brain at the time of death? To find the answer, K+K talked to Dr. Rick Strassman, author of the book DMT: The Spirit Molecule, and one of the leading experts on how the molecule affects our moods, thoughts, and perceptions. Together, they explore how DMT works, the probable function it has in our lives and in our deaths, and what DMT has to do with near-death experiences. Find more about Dr. Strassman's work, or delve deeper into the science of DMT and the mystical experience with his incredibly fascinating books, at Rickstrassman.com Weirdly, we couldn't find any actual photos of the afterlife.
10 Best Speculative Fiction Novels by Sheena and Nita Round Nita is joining Sheena in this episode of The Lesbian Review Podcast to chat about the 10 Best Spec Fic. Sheena’s List 1 Knights Sacrifice by Nita Round Urban Fantasy For most people, running a funeral home is a dull and conservative line of work, but when Catherine Samuels inherits the family business she discovers that it is anything but straightforward. For a start, the dead do not always stay dead, they sit up, and they bite. In this strange world, Catherine needs help, and that comes in the form of Cassandra (Cassie) Evans, a heavily armed problem solver, knowledgeable in all things arcane and undead. Cassie, however, hates her posting to Catherine Samuels. Her charge knows nothing of family, her heritage, nor her duty as the sole remaining caretaker of The Gate, a sentient construct that guards the way to hell and stops the inhabitants of Hell finding their way to the land of the living. Anyone who does not understand the importance of this duty is a liability. Catherine is a liability. Except that Cassie finds an unsettling attraction developing between them that she neither expects nor wants. Duty first, there is no room for emotional entanglements, and certainly not with a woman who rejects all that Cassie thinks is important. When Catherine finds herself on the brink of losing everything, Cassie, her family, and even life itself, then she must awaken. She must become The Samuel, The Gate Keeper and guard the way between the living and the dead. To make it safe she must travel to hell, with the warrior that she has chosen, and there, if they survive, she must heal the problems of the Gate before all hell breaks loose. We humans are pretty fortunate. Our intelligence and physical features are a result of the evolutionary hand we've been dealt, and are what have allowed us to build an advanced society with sophisticated infrastructure. Get it?? The HAND we've been dealt?? Despite what you may have learned from 2001: A Space Odyssey, genetic changes, which produce physical and behavioral changes, don't happen overnight, propelled by the power of a giant Monolith. Adaptations like walking upright, dexterity, and large complex brains, took millions of years to develop, and required the right environmental conditions for these random genetic changes to be considered assets. Join Kira and Keera on the journey of just how, and why, our ancient primate ancestors became... us.
What's going on inside a nautilus's shell? Is it true that cephalopods can edit their own genes? An octopus has how many brains? Oh hey. We hope to see you at the Portland March for Science, taking place on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017! Kira & Keera will be there, with their nonprofit educational organization, Science Project. From 10am until 3pm, the Science Project's exhibit, "Oceans: Dive Deeper!" will provide lots of exciting hands-on experiments that will give you a better understanding of the many layers of our oceans. Plus we'll be unveiling our very first edition Everything Is Interesting t-shirt!! Come by and visit us, and get your very own! 4/12/2017
A healthy stream ecosystem is an intricate fabric, where pulling one thread could cause the whole system to unravel. Furthermore, each aspect of this ecosystem may provide a service to you directly, but in ways you probably often overlook. You eat the salmon, but the Aquatic Reed Sweetgrass makes your oxygen, the Western Pearlshell Mussel filters the toxins out of your drinking water, and the stable riverbanks supply nutrients that eventually end up in the food you eat. On this episode, Keera and Kira talk with Jack Williams of Trout Unlimited and Matt Sloat of the Wild Salmon Center, 2 of Oregon's premiere experts on fishery science and aquatic ecosystems, about our streams, why they matter, and what's threatening them. ********(Looking for the information about how to send this show to your legislators? What goes through the mind of a bee? Does it have its own thoughts, or is being part of a hive-minded collective like being a part of the Borg? Can an organism with swarm intelligence have a private identity, or does the community simply add each individual's biological and technological distinctiveness to its own? Lower your shields. Resistance is futile. On this episode, Keera and Kira examine the decision making process in communities of bees, birds, neurons, and slime mold, and discover what life is like as part of a hive mind.
Every now and then, Keera and Kira hang out and do stuff OTHER than talk about science. Like, sometimes they reminisce about growing up in the 90's, and the strange toys and commercials and fashion that shaped their impressionable little minds. That's how K+K stumbled upon the Amazing Live SEA MONKEYS! Remember getting those eggs in the mail, and how excited you were for your microscopic primates to come alive with just a little water? Kira and Keera do! On this episode, the Science Ladies talk about this aquatic crustacean species, Artemia salina, (Spoiler Alert: they're not monkeys. Sorry.) as wells as where they come from, how they evolved, and why you can send them through the mail like a pack of tomato seeds. They also explore the story of Harold von Braunhut, the man who sold these little creatures as living magic tricks, and the science behind really good marketing.
It's Valentines Day! So in true nerd fashion, Keera and Kira delve into the biochemistry of love. Why DO your palms get sweaty when you see the person your attracted to? Also, they explore the heart throughout medical history. Why do we use the heart as the symbol for where love comes from, when we now know that emotions, thoughts, and sweaty palms all begin in the brain?
On today's episode, Kira & Keera explore the immense geological forces that help to shape our planet, and then share some of the places you can go to see them, right here in our own National Parks. Talking points: LAVA! The discovery of plate tectonics The Cascadia Subduction Zone How geysers form MORE LAVA!
On today's episode, Kira and Keera quiz the XRAY team on the life and times of Amazing Arachnids! Can spiders get caught in their own web? Why DO spiders have 8 eyes? What would a 20 foot tall spider be like? And what would really happen if you were bitten by a radioactive spider? The most cuddly thing on 8 legs. Then in the last 5 minutes, we share some ways that you, the listener, can be active in our national democracy and advocate for science!
Today, Kira and Keera talk about the incredible power of that fiery ball in the sky, the sun! how we clever humans have devised the technology to harness it. We also answer some of your burning questions (get it?), like: What is nuclear fusion? How does old dead plant matter become fossil fuels? How do photo-voltaic cells capture sun energy? What is artificial photosynthesis, and how do we make it happen?
Today's show is Part I of a two-part episode, all about the science of Marijuana! (Don't worry, we live in Oregon. It's totally legal.) Today Kira and Keera cover: Human's millennia old history with marijuana The specifics of the Cannabis species What THC does to your neurons to gets you high Science of drug addiction
On today's episode, Kira and Keera quiz Ed Hill and XRAY guest-host Emily Gillilia on their knowledge of the latest science news. Headline questions include: What is so exciting about Dione's underground ocean? Scientists want to harvest the milk of what exotic species? How are silk worms making unbreakable super-silk? What's the link between risk of mortality and having a sense of humor?
In the first official episode of Everything Is Interesting as its own radio segment, Kira and Keera (we called her Kay back then!) talk about the importance of playing, both for children and adults. Video games, playing outside, puzzles, science experiments, and "adult" play, build memory and reasoning skills, dispel aggressive behavior, promote social inclusion, and contribute to many facets of healthy brain development. Because they are so dedicated to the healthy brain development of the XRAY in the Morning DJs, Kira and Keera bring a hands-on science game, making the crew spin raw eggs in the studio to learn about inertia, density, and drunk ballerinas.
This is where it all began! Listen to an insanely nervous Kira and Keera talk to Christine Alexander and the XRAY in the morning DJs about their educational non-profit, Science Project. They also talk about how to make learning Science fun, & why its so important to the well being of our community. Then listen in to the Everything Is Interesting prototype quiz show, where they ask the DJs: If radio waves are not sound waves, how do our voices get into the listeners' ears? How does coffee affect the brain? Why does caffeine keep you awake?
I never thought I would be so happy to see a dirty diaper in my life! (Weird, I know) She had her 5th surgery yesterday, another exploratory, and another 2 centimeters of lower bowel were taken out. Why didnÂt that damn GI X-ray find this sooner? According to the doctors, todayÂs discovery means her intestines didnÂt twist again to reorganize itself and everything is working nicely. I think she has an awareness of whatÂs going on right now, because when a nurse is doing something she doesnÂt like, her blood pressure shoots up and she gets mad! Now her kidneys need a little bit of a kick-start, but my little gal is one tough cookie! Thank you so much to KeeraÂs pod-granny Madge and to all of you who have e-mailed us well wishes. WeÂre not out of the woods yet, but I can now see the field.
Keera took a scary turn this morning. SheÂs gone through 2 emergency surgeries in the last 2 days. WeÂre in the PICU unit at Riley ChildrenÂs Hospital in Indianapolis. May God shine some light on her. We need it.
