From anti-Trump propaganda to appalling sexual indoctrination, it is stunning what is being taught to kids in elementary and middle schools. State Sen. Keith Perry is sounding the alarm to parents and citizens to get active in School Board elections and local schools. Perry lays out the case for government to stop teaching kids material that years ago would have put adults in jail. And the latest Parental Rights in Education bill that became law only addressed a part of the problem, and Perry is advocating for the Legislature to expand measures that get government out of teaching and exposing older children to controversial sexual material. Democrats and Disney fought hard against the Parental Rights in Education law. And Democrats even urged Legislators to listen to Disney, and not their voters. Additionally Perry discussed changes in local districts and representation in coming elections.

A bill is being filed in the Florida Legislature to change election of Alachua County Commissioners. Presently representatives from that live in 5 different districts are elected by voters from the entire county. The bill wants commissioners to be elected by voters in their individual districts. The present Commission strenuously objects to changes. State Sen. Keith Perry supports the bill, to be submitted by local State House Rep. Chuck Clemmons, which he says would bring more diverse representation closer to the voters in each district. Right now he says voters from heavily concentrated population areas wield the greatest power, as opposed to rural areas. Hear Perry on why he feels it is important to give voice to voters countywide, on The Bob Rose Show.

Great Interview today, we have Keith Perry on the show. Keith is the Owner and Managing Member of DAO Technologies LLC. DAO is a technology management and consulting organization that specializes in Free and Open Source Solutions. One of the first things that interested me about Keith is that he has an electrical engineering background – he got an BS from Drexel - which means that he's got a handle on the full stack of the data center. Then he went into network security & virtual machines and got an MS, also from Drexel. His company focuses on integrating systems from hardware to software for large projects. As always this is a free-flowing discussion. Keith is a proponent of colocation – he's wary of the public cloud but he's all in favor of managed services – just don't call it cloud. Great guy, great conversation. I don't always get to talk with someone who consults on the front lines with end users, so it was great to get insights into the SMB space with Keith. Our sponsor this week is Green Lane Design. Green Lane has been designing, engineering and building critical facilities for over ten years including major enterprise customers as well as colocation facilities. Today is episode 7 of our green series. Second to last one one, people. If you stuck it out, this is the one that matters most to almost all of you. Man… It was a long journey but worth it in the end. I'm compiling this entire series into an ebook which will be available on Amazon. Look for that in fall of 2019. Brief overview of the green series: We started with software, zoomed out to the server hardware, to electrical systems to the philosophy behind green data centers, to automation and efficiency and here we are today at green cooling. If you're interested in reducing your carbon footprint as a data center operator, this is the place to be! You've made it. Next week will take off from this topic in order to discuss kinetic edge data centers, then the week after we will be talking with Keith Perry principal at DAO Technologies – that was a great interview. After that will be our last episode in the series: energy reclamation. Really looking forward to that one. Our sponsor this week is Green Lane Design. Head of Cynthia Manson Literary Agency Interview starts at 14:30 and ends at 41:06 "The trick is that if you have an author that is struggling to find that audience, to find that readership--Alan [Russell] is a perfect example, because he always got wonderful reviews, is a fantastic writer, still has a great relationship with his former editor at St. Martins, but there was always a struggle to find that readership. Amazon [Publishing] was able to do that through their own algorithms and their own customized ways of doing e-mails and finding those readers. I do think it's just a different technique. Probably authors like Lee Child wouldn't necessarily benefit from that, because we know that Lee Child is a major bestseller with Random House. He knows who his readers are."
