Since birth, Marcy Langlois has faced formidable difficulties, undergoing more than twenty surgical procedures to address her cleft lip and palate. As Marcy progressed through Catholic grade school, she confronted another layer of self-discovery: her attraction to girls rather than boys. Confusion and shame about her sexuality reinforced her already entrenched beliefs of being worthless and unlovable. In her quest to silence the nagging voice in her mind, Marcy turned to alcohol during her middle school years. While it temporarily numbed her pain, it accelerated a downward spiral. The tragic car accident she was involved in during high school claimed the lives of three individuals, fueling her guilt and deepening her reliance on alcohol as an escape. Rock bottom was the turning point for Marcy at the age of 27. Utilizing resources provided by a Twelve-Step Program, she embarked on a miraculous journey of recovery. Today, Marcy lives a life filled with self-love and contentment. She and her wife have cultivated a beautiful, lasting relationship for over twenty years. Professionally, Marcy achieved remarkable success as a Mortgage Banker and Vice President in the banking industry and now works at a top mortgage banking business. Mortgage rates went from being a nap-inducing topic to becoming one of the most talked about, researched, and debated subjects of 2022. After two years of rock-bottom interest rates, homebuyers and investors are getting a rude awakening with some of the biggest mortgage rate hikes in decades, used simply to slow down the economy's rampant inflation. But where are we headed, and if interest rates go higher, is there a way that the everyday investor can still lock in a low payment? There's no better person to ask than US Wholesale Mortgage's Mat Ishbia. Mat has been running the US's largest wholesale mortgage company for decades, so he knows the ins and outs of the industry better than anyone else. His company provides some of the lowest payments and fastest closings for residential and investor borrowers around the country. With all this background knowledge, where does Mat think that mortgage rates are headed by the end of 2022?Mat pulls out his wealth of knowledge to give investors just like you the best glimpse into the future on this month's BiggerNews episode. Not only that, Mat walks through how every borrower can save a whopping $9,400 on their next mortgage by making one simple move, and why investors should work with a mortgage broker first, not a mortgage lender, when trying to find the best rates, service, and closing dates around. In This Episode We Cover:Why working with a mortgage broker gives borrowers better pricing and flexibilityInterest rate predictions as we enter into the second half of 2022Where to find the cheapest mortgage (regardless of interest rates)Housing market forecasts and whether or not the recession will hit homebuyingDSCR loans and other investor-only loans that won't require a W2 How interest rates are calculated by mortgage lenders and what happens behind the scenesAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Youtube ChannelBiggerPockets ForumsBiggerPockets Pro MembershipBiggerPockets BookstoreBiggerPockets BootcampsBiggerPockets PodcastGet Your Ticket for BPCon 2022Listen to All Your Favorite BiggerPockets Podcasts in One PlaceLearn About Real Estate, The Housing Market, and Money Management with The BiggerPockets PodcastsGet More Deals Done with The BiggerPockets Investing ToolsFind a BiggerPockets Real Estate Meetup in Your AreaFind a Lender in Your AreaWhat's the Difference Between a Mortgage Banker and a Mortgage Broker?Ask These 19 Questions to Find the Best Mortgage LenderHear About David's Low Money Down BRRRR DealDavid's BiggerPockets ProfileDavid's InstagramDave's BiggerPockets ProfileDave's InstagramBooks Mentioned in the Show:Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat by David GreeneConnect with Mat:United Wholesale MortgageClick here to check the full show notes: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/real-estate-658Interested in learning more about today's sponsors or becoming a BiggerPockets partner yourself? This episode is a bit unusual for this podcast. It's about how to purchase real estate, and my guest is Rural Mortgage Banker for United Ag Lending, Brady Shepherd. I'm very grateful to Brady for the time he spent with me preparing for this episode, and I think you'll find this episode packed with potentially life-changing ideas. Why “life changing?” Because, for better or for worse, the US economy is founded on real estate. The laws and economic structure that guide our society were written by and for land-owners. And behind every glass of wine is a piece of land where it was grown that somebody or some entity owns. Did you know that to buy real estate you don't have to put 20% down? You might not have to put any cash down. Your credit doesn't have to be perfect either. We talk about this and so much more. A final disclaimer, nothing that I or Brady say on this episode is meant to be investment advice, and please talk to an accountant about your personal situation. Actually, talking to an accountant can be just as eye-opening as talking to a mortgage banker. A big thanks to Brady, who, if you stay tuned, literally gives out his phone number for anyone who might need help getting a mortgage loan. https://unitedaglending.com/ Sponsor: https://www.centralaswine.com/

Born with a knack for numbers, Danny started his journey in finance during high school as a supermarket cashier. Eventually following the advice of his elders to become an accountant, he attended and graduated from William Paterson University's Cotsakos College of Business with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. During college, he completed an internship and was eventually hired as a staff accountant with Avis Budget Group where he worked for 5 years. Feeling that something was missing, Danny began to search for a career where he could combine his love of finance with his passion for connecting with and helping people. In late 2012, that career found him, when his girlfriend (now wife) began working as the secretary for a small mortgage company. After hitting it off with the CEO Michael Sema at the company holiday party, Danny decided to try his hand at the mortgage industry. As fate would have it, in early 2013 Avis Budget Group was simultaneously going through consolidation and offered Danny two options. Either keep his staff accountant role and relocate from New Jersey to Virginia Beach, or part ways with the company and take a severance package. The news couldn't have come at a better time as Danny was already planning his exit and this just gave him the financial parachute and confidence to do so. Danny has been a licensed Mortgage Banker with Get A Rate since June 2013, licensed Life Insurance Agent since 2014 and licensed NJ Real Estate Agent since 2015. Branded by his peers as 'The Bearded Banker', he has been able to excel in the real estate industry by applying his knowledge in accounting, as well as his experience with owning, investing in, and flipping real estate, to help guide his clients not only through the delicate mortgage process but even beyond the initial transaction into the realms of personal finance, wealth creation, and wealth protection.

Being an Independent Mortgage Broker is in Andy Treno's blood. With his dad opening the first broker shop in Minnesota in 1987, loans and title companies were a part of nightly dinner table conversations, and making spreadsheets and stuffing envelopes was Andy's summer job. After going to school to become a financial advisor, Andy got a job at a bank but quickly realized that mortgages are what he loved, and a bank was not the place to best put together home loans.  Andy, as a Mortgage Banker, was ranked top 10 in the state for selling home loans, but he got called into a manager's office for not cross-selling enough checking accounts. A homeowner's dream home and an entire family's generational wealth should not be treated with the same respect given to food that's about to expire at a chain restaurant. Andy understands that mortgages are not something you just sell. You don't tell the client what they need. You listen to them, learn their wants and needs, analyze their financial situation and look over their 1003s. You sit families down face-to-face and have conversations about their life goals and then take the time and effort to explore multiple different loan products from multiple different lenders to find the option that works best for each individual family. It is for this exact reason that Andy has made it his life's mission to educate and advise homeowners everywhere. Andy knows it's their money and their decision, he just wants to help them make the best possible choice for their family's future.  One of the biggest things that make brokers better are options, and Andy makes sure to take advantage of all the options at his disposal. Whether it's using multiple Brokers Are Better Network partners like leadPops, LendingPad, Homebot, and Pre-Approve Me, or becoming an expert in everything from first-time homebuyer FHA to reverse mortgages (with a specialty in VA as a member of VettedVA), Andy is always looking for new ways to help more people. And it's up to each and every individual independent mortgage broker to make sure they're helping as many homeowners as possible by taking advantage of everything at their disposal. As a member of AIME's ethics committee,  Andy stresses the importance of taking the time to not just educate your borrowers, but educate yourself. You are the expert, clients are going to look to you for answers. As rates rise, don't slack off or cut back. Take advantage of the extra time and reinvest in yourself and your business.  NOTES: (1:50) Family Business(4:51) Company Culture & Growth(12:00) Tech Stack & Lender List (19:00) Financial Literacy & Ethics (30:52) Parting Advice  This Episode Is Sponsored By leadPops

T.J. says "Do the business of law right, STOP volunteering, and get your freedom back." Join a King Hero interview with the creator of www.youarelaw.org, T.J. Marrs at 3 PM CDT, Friday March 25th! Over the past 25 + years T.J. Marrs has has helped 100's of individuals in handling their own legal matters, and participated and coached on over 300 real estate transactions combined as a licensed Real Estate Agent, Oregon & Washington licensed Mortgage Broker & Mortgage Banker, and real estate investor, and information creator. He has also held professional certifications in securities, insurance, certified in Jurisdictionary; a self-help law training course. He has consulted and taught many attorneys his alternative approaches, and was a decorated U.S. Naval Intelligence Officer during the Iran-Iraq War and Cold -War periods. T. J. has authored two books and multiple courses on real estate investing, finance, asset protection information marketing, and e-commerce. He has also contributed to the book “The Idiots Guide to Foreclosure Investing” and wrote “Foreclosure Profit Machine”, which was one of the few books that predicted the real estate crash and market slump, which began in 2008. He has served 3 terms as Chairman of Northwest Real Estate Investors Association, one of the most successful associations in the country. T.J. has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC's Power Lunch, and appeared on dozens of radio programs nationwide. Over the past 10 years T.J. has developed a Ministry on how to avoid becoming a victim of the “for profit” legal system, while also preserving your God given rights. Not by fighting the system, but by knowing how to do the business the right way, within the system so YOU are in control. T.J. is a 20+ year legal researcher and not a BAR member bound attorney, who reveals practical ways you can control your own legal matters without a lawyer. Why this approach? Because most lawyers' first allegiance is to protect the system. The worldwide government system that is being imposed on us is voluntary by design, so T.J. says "don't volunteer". The courts and 3 million statutes are the way they trick us into fear of challenging their “tyranny by statute” plan...this has to stop. T.J. now spends his time dedicated to his family, speaking internationally, and teaching online, and helping his students and members succeed in their lives by freeing themselves from “Voluntary Tyranny and Contract Slavery”. TJ believes in the motto: Teach Man To Fish, vs give a man a fish - which are simple, proven, and biblically sourced techniques. We perish for our lack of knowledge and for volunteering. Learn how to STOP volunteering and get your freedom back. Find out more about TJ's work: www.youarelaw.org --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/beth-martens/message
