If I asked you to guess the percentage of murder cases that actually had physical evidence that tied a suspect to the crime, what would you say? I'll bet you DIDN'T say just 13.5% - but that's what research done by the Boston Globe in 2010 showed. So what solves crimes? Good investigations. Law enforcement officers often get a bad rap. Society should certainly punish those who cross the lines of acceptable behavior, but today I want to focus on the good that the vast majority of officers do for us. We'll look at one of the very first cases technically solved with DNA and see why science wouldn't have made a difference without the dedication and hard work of the police. Join my guest Ken Bator, founder of The Police Officers' Credit Union Association. He is also a business consultant and covers true crime podcasting for Podcast Magazine - which is how I met him. He's got great insights for us today as we dig into this week's book, “The Blooding” by Joseph Wambaugh. The Purpose & Prosperity of Making a Difference to the People You Serve with Ken Bator “We all have a story to tell.” -Ken Bator (12:15-12:17) As an intuitive business architect, I spend a lot of time helping people stay aligned with their life purpose and deliver what they're meant to deliver to the world. In this week's episode, I have invited Kenneth Bator as my guest. He loves creating environments where employees want to come to work and customers want to keep coming back. He’s a perfect fit for this week’s topic — the purpose & prosperity of making a difference to the people that we serve.  Part One of ‘The Purpose & Prosperity of Making a Difference to the People You Serve with Ken Bator’ Ken is the founder of Bator Training & Consulting, Inc. (BTC), as well as the Police Officers’ Credit Union Association (POCUA), and has more than 20 years of experience in helping organizations reach new levels of effectiveness by aligning their brand, culture, and strategy.  He is the author of The Formula for Business Success = B + C + S and The Pocket Guide to Strategic Planning: The 90-Day Quick Fix for the Business Owner or Manager. Ken has hosted and produced four separate shows including Branding the Experience, Cool Culture Corner, the CU Business News Podcast, and Beyond the Call.  His articles have appeared in many trade publications including The Credit Union Journal, Lifestyle Entrepreneur, CU Business Magazine, ABA Bank Marketing, and as one of the first category directors of the recently launched Podcast Magazine. Ken is a well sought-after speaker and has presented during several conferences, both in-person and virtually, worldwide including an appearance as an “Icon of Influence” during the New Media Summit.  Born and raised in Chicago, he earned a BS in Finance and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University as well as a Certification in Integrated Marketing from the University of Chicago. Ken currently resides in Southern California with his wife, Pegi. BTC is headquartered in Orange, CA. “We all have something to offer.” – Lia Dunlap (14:13-14:14) There is a purpose and prosperity of making a difference to the people we serve. But, how do we get into that cornerstone of alignment?  One way to do so is to think about the famous brands that you know and reflect on the unique story behind their brand. From a business standpoint, it's important to remember that you need to put an image out there that's not only going to attract business but also going to be supported by the culture. For example, if you're running a restaurant business targeted for families, you can't put an image out there that you're this "great family restaurant" and then tolerate a culture where everybody's swearing. That's obviously not a family image that you should be promoting. So, if you tell the story right, people get to have that unique piece of who you are.  Part Two of ‘The Purpose & Prosperity of Making a Difference to the People You Serve with Ken Bator’ Considering there’s a pandemic, there’s been a spotlight on what’s working and what’s not working for many businesses. Ken mentions that his clients aren’t always aware of what's wrong with their business. But somehow, they have an intuition that there's something that's blocking them from going to the next level.  Take a moment to reflect on how you can impact the world through your vision. Remember, we all have something amazing to offer. Being in alignment with your life purpose enables you to reach new levels of effectiveness in business no matter what the new normal is.    “We have to take care of ourselves so we can take care of others.” - Lia Dunlap (17:17-17:19)   Many working professionals and entrepreneurs have transitioned to a virtual space since the COVID-19 lockdown started, so a lot of the new normal has something to do with technology.  Let’s say your gym is closed and there’s no way as a fitness trainer for you to interact physically with your customers. But alternatively, you can utilize tools like Zoom to connect with them and still provide a great experience for them.  We all want to be remembered for the great work that we do. Let’s keep focusing on the positive side and take advantage of the opportunity that we’re given to contemplate how we can do business differently and better than it was before. Don’t stop making a difference because the marketplace needs you more than ever.  How to Connect More with Ken Bator Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kenneth.bator LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kenbator Twitter: https://twitter.com/kbator Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kennethbator/ How To Work With Lia Have you realized you actually hate what you are currently doing? Our clients that implement our B+C+S Formula increase their income by 124% and grow their business by 17%. That’s because Bator Training & Consulting (BTC) always focuses on the biggest core problem of the business. That big problem usually falls within one of three areas – the Brand, the Culture, or the Strategy. When it comes to branding, everything today seems to be about engagement. Consumers aren’t just buying products and services. They expect a positive experience. Similarly, when it comes to culture, employees don’t just want a job. They too are looking for an experience …a career experience. Not surprisingly it’s almost impossible to create customer loyalty when you have staff that don’t want to be there. That’s why it’s just as important to create a positive employee experience so they can provide an equally tremendous experience for those they serve. With our unique B+C+S Formula, BTC creates environments where employees actually want to come to work and customers want to keep coming back. When you achieve that it makes your strategy so much easier to implement.Web: https://btcinc.net/www.linkedin.com/in/kenbator/twitter.com/kbatorwww.youtube.com/channel/UCRPrQYxHtItbr6feemsQnEgwww.facebook.com/BTCINC/

The Four Pillars of Soundness for Supporting Law Enforcement – Ken Bator pt 3   (https://kcrpodcast.com/?attachment_id=98634) Many of you know my story. I am a 12 year active Army Veteran with 9 years enlisted and 3 years as a Commissioned Cavalry Officer. After the military, I had my own business for about 7 years before I fulfilled a life long goal and became a Law Enforcement Officer for the State of Maryland. So I have a special place in my heart for our Veterans and also for supporting our Law Enforcement brothers and sisters out there protecting us each and every day. Many people do not realize some of the pressures police officers face on a daily basis. Every single day they leave home may the their last. Every car they approach on a traffic stop may be a mass murderer who is trying to make their escape, or a drug addict who just committed armed robbery. The cop pulls them over for a burned out headlight, but the person driving the car thinks, “They’re onto me…” Traffic stops are one of the most dangerous forms of activities for law enforcement – along with domestic disturbance calls. But all of this is accomplished, willingly, by the men and women serving this nation in law enforcement. At the same time, there are unique things that must be considered in managing the financial affairs of the men and women in blue. Car loans, mortgages, credit lines, direct deposit, credit cards, etc. (only to name a few). But most banks and credit unions are not geared to the needs of the law enforcement community. Typically, they are “general” in nature and try to serve everyone. This works…to an extent. But what if there was a unique organization that served the needs of the law enforcement personnel. That would be great, right? What if there was an organization that specialized in the sharing of ideas and helping the front line organizations, especially credit unions, coordinate their benefit programs. This would help those that are helping those that are serving our communities. Well, my guest today, is part of such an organization. The Police Officers’ Credit Union Association is where institutions that serve the law enforcement world can find resources and support.  And they do not need to be large, multi-billion-dollar, multi-branch organizations either. The Police Officers’ Credit Union Association helps organizations of any size.  The Police Officers’ Credit Union Association not only provides a forum for networking and the sharing of ideas, but also helps to create avenues for true collaboration. This collaboration provides the organizations that are serving the LEO community the ability to develop revenue-generating programs and business-growth programs in order to serve the LEO families at a higher level. Ken Bator has more than 20 years of experience in helping organizations reach new levels of effectiveness by helping them to align their brand, their culture and their strategy. Ken hosts two podcasts himself. The “Beyond the Call” podcast for Law Enforcement Professionals and the “Cool Culture Culture” podcast for service based businesses. Ken was born and raised in Chicago. He has a BS in Finance and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from DePaul University. He is the founder of both, the Bator Training & Consulting firm and also the Police Officers’ Credit Union Association. Ken is the author of “The Pocket Guide to Strategic Planning: The 90 Day Quick Fix for the Business Owner or Manager” and also the book “The Formula for Business Success = B+C+S,” both of which can be accessed through the links in the show notes below. Tell us about the “Four Pillars of Soundness.” And how does the “Police Partner Program” tie into that? Now, you had a rough time in the past – which directly led to you being the entrepreneur that you are. You lost your job unexpectedly which led to your “Formula for Success” book. Tell us about that time in your life… So, “Brand, Culture and...
