Focus, Purpose & Leadership I decided to create this podcast because in my 40 year career in the advertising, communications and brand strategy worlds, I've come to learn about the fundamental importance of clarity and purpose. Or in my terms, the value of having a 'single organising principle, a principle that a business would live or die by that is single minded and focused and helpful in consistent decision making. In this series I'll be chatting to leaders who have put this into practice whilst developing their own successful businesses. Robert Bean Every business wants an elevator pitch. Sadly few have a truly compelling one. One that’s as motivating internally as it is meaningful externally. Businesses who own such a statement are better aligned, more focussed, more efficient and, ultimately, more profitable. Having worked with BMW and ‘The Ultimate Driving Machine’, Honda and ‘The Power of Dreams’, BT and ‘It’s Good to Talk’, Homebase and ‘Make a House a Home’ and many others, it’s clear to see the focus these statements have provided their owners. Robert is a strategic business consultancy that helps CEOs and Boards define and express their business’ most powerful proposition. In a single sentence. It’s called your ‘Single Organising Principle.’ Once articulated, we help bring it to life across the organisation’s culture, its products & services and reputation. Find Robert online at: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robert-bean-69a0684/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Robert_Bean Website: http://robertbeanbranding.com/

Happy Mother's Day, Everyone!!! An Eclectican Mother's Day, 2010Welcome one and all! There's little preamble needed for this episode, other than that I hope you enjoy this little musical tribute to mothers of all shapes, types, sorts & sizes (and hopefully that you do so with your mother. :)) There is some blues and a mother-daughter song put in here to send a "hello" out to my own mother, but there are also songs about Mother Earth and other types of mothers, as every mama is special. ^_^ May all of you have a splendid Mother's Day, and a big "thank you" to all the mothers out there, as well as all the fantastic people (male & female) who've done their own shares (if not moreso) of mothering in my life. :)I Love you, Mom.Yours Forever in Song,DJ Selchie♥Track ListPaul and Storm - Mother's Day SongMean Gene Kelton and the Die Hards - Sweet Mother BluesLance Larson - Happy Mother's DayKevin Reeves - MotherEzra Thomas - Momma's Song (or the Mother's Day Song)Roscoe Chenier - A Mother's LoveOona McOuat - Ancient MotherKelly's Lot - Mothers and DaughtersThe Alice Project - Happy Mother's DayKiva - Go NowBeautiful Background Music by; Poitin - Hot DaysBand Name = Band Web Site, Song Name = MySpace Band Page. Answer To Last Week's Trivia Question: Q: Are You Lonesome Tonight? was a big 1960 hit for Elvis Presley. But he wasn't the first one to record it. It was first recorded all the way back in 1926. Who was the artist? A: It was written by Roy Turk and Lou Handman in 1926 as a vaudeville recitation and first recorded by Al Jolson. Brian Stephens over at The Music Pro Show found some alternate research that suggests the answer might have been Ned Jakobs on May 17, 1927. It was difficult to find a definitive answer for either one, so we would have accepted either answer. No one but Brian submitted a correct answer and he generously offered to pass the prize on to the next winner. Brian also sent along a little trivia about our trivia. Elvis' version of "Lonesome" was recorded during a late night session, about 3-4 AM, at the request of Colonel Parker. His wife apparently loved the song so much that he wanted the "Big E" to do a version, assuring Elvis it would be a hit again. See you next week! Flame of the Week by Bryce :: (hatemail@otakugeneration.net) Nothing to be "flipped this week"... we have something... but bryce hasn't read it yet... anyhow, direct any of your flames / hatred to Bryce at: hatemail@otakugeneration.net, and he'll flip it to something amusing. Don't be nasty, or rude... this might not last as a segment idea, but we thought we'd give it a try. OG "guess the character in the envelope" Contest Bryce had a great idea for a contest... The cast has picked an anime character, wrote it down on a piece of paper, and sealed it up in an envelope. You the listener must figure out who the "character in the envelope" is... This week we didn't give an clues for the contest. Not enough of your lazy bums, responded. The prize will be a pack of goodies, a Lisa Ray CD, and maybe something more *hint*hint*cough*... So you ask what are the rules? Well they're pretty simple. First off, we will only accept one guess per email, once a week. If you put more than one guess, in an email, we will only take the first guess. You cannot enter more then once an week, and not more then once per email. Please pay attention to the use of the word "character", it could be a person, animal, car, mech, bryce, paul, a tree, a rock (assuming they are portrayed as "character" some how), almost anything. Each week will reveal a little more about the "character in the envelope" in an anime, until some one guesses it right, and wins. As usual listen to the show for more details, and email your guesses to: otaku.generation@gmail.com, and use the subject line of: OG CHARACTER IN THE ENVELOPE CONTEST Again, not enough you lazy bums responded... we're going to insist at least 10 people give their guesses, before we give another clue. We don't mean 10 total, we mean 10 guesses within 1 weeks time. So send your guess in now! There's way more then 10 of you out there downloading, so email-us! It's worth unique prizes from us!
