Controversy warning! Black History Exaggerators, Liars, and Scammers. Were there "Blacks" in the Americas before the "Natives" and colonizers? Was Dr. Ivan Sertima correct? Was Dr. David Imhotep correct? Did the transatlantic slave trade really occur? Are the Moors, Indigenous and Indian Identifiers, and Melanated Individuals right and exact? Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis provides insight on her concerns that too many of US have fallen victim to inconclusive, partial, and fake information. "I always tell my Black students and Blacks in community events to answer the following: If you claim thousands of years migrating Earth and controlling many continents, EXPLAIN how racial Blacks are colonized for thousands of years by Arab Muslims, for centuries by Europeans, and often minimized by every economic format and every government format in the world. All of this is happening to a people who claim to be the population majority of the world for thousands of years? Such that Black intellectuals such as Harold Cruse constantly BEG us to develop our Inner World? I tell people to answer those questions and examine the factual inconsistencies. Ivan Van Sertima's book was written while he was a graduate student. He did NOT conduct research to come to conclusions and write the book. Instead, he selected things that fit his beliefs, and he marketed his belief to Blacks in the 1970s who were desperate to find culture and pride. Unfortunately, too many Blacks believed what he wrote in that best-selling book in the 1970s, and too many Blacks believed the nonsense in 2024—despite Blacks such as myself doing presentations, courses, and writings explaining the falsehoods in the book. Exaggerators/liars/scammers are harmful to Black education, politics, and economics. " - Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis Van Sertima waited 15 years to clarify misunderstandings in less popular publications & his 1990s writings are still critiqued in published writings, interviews, college courses, and on social media. Van Sertima is not immune to critique, accountability, disagreement, and debate. Get On Code, share the code, teach the code, become the code. Our code is empowerment. In this episode of Professor Kimya's class, we deal with Black Education... _________________________________________ Blacks should create curriculums, develop and read materials, and do exams within families and communities-collectives. This is how Blacks bring factual (not conspiracy, half-accurate) knowledge into K-12 and into colleges. K-12 and colleges can add to our knowledge but should never be the origins of our knowledge. I created an academic program in 2011, coordinated the program for nine years, created courses and selected course materials based on content and the demographics in authors and reference pages, conducted academic year program evaluations for the academic department to contribute to school accreditation, and assisted the school library with content reviews and determining materials to remain in the library as part of program evaluations and school accreditation. These processes are needed for our people of various socioeconomic statuses to understand as we access more than a century of Black writings, read more, discuss readings more, stop reducing our people to oppressed, and stop wanting schools to teach our history as only enslavement. This is also why I tell our people to stop crying about "banned books" and doing protests when something grabs attention. Instead, become more involved in PTA meetings, consistent correspondence with school staff, interact with teachers unions, and attend more school board meetings—this includes predominantly Black cities. Yes, Black families have jobs, but we are not the only families with jobs, and we cannot be invisible and waiting for schools-politicians/government entities-employers to make improvements for our people. This is the development of Black USA culture and the Black Inner World, as explained by Harold Cruse and illustrated by Black activists, Black teachers, and Black authors, which have been around for more than a century in the USA. This is how Black education connects with Black health and Black economics. July 15 is Maggie Lena Walker's 160th birthday, and Walker is a trailblazer for solutions that connect approaches for our people. It is important to integrate Walker with what is done by everyday Blacks to improve our people—and more published Black works such as Booker T. Washington, Du Bois, Garvey, Thomas Sowell (global class approach), and William Julius Wilson. ~ Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis

He says he's building investments to not need a job. I raised my eyebrow when he said his brother lives in a “jurisdiction” that allows him to be independent from taxes, not files, and he claims his brother is now a millionaire. I told him to tell me the exact jurisdiction and explain the government paperwork beyond “nomad/sovereign citizen” scams. He said his brother has not given those details.. but he said I need to believe him because his brother said so and he is speaking on behalf of his brother. I told him this is an example of Black financial scams, potential tax evasion if we do not have evidence, AND why Blacks need to have factual discussions and read more books"!

This week we invite you on a journey of discovery as you are invited to open your mind, admit your imbedded biases, remain curious, and march forward to play your part in dismantling oppression, and breaking down the power majority so that minorities can thrive. You'll meet Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis who shares her story with conviction, with presence, and with passion. She has worked for a lifetime to move people from conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion into real work and real action.Throughout this conversation, Dr. Kimya course-corrects the conversation from time to time, pointing us away from ideas of being “good allies” to truly act. She may not be your typical diversity, equity, and inclusion trainer, but that's exactly why we should all give her a listen.“Black people have done equity-based trainings, racial equity trainings for generations. So this is not a new thing based on a New York Times bestseller… So that's what 365 diversity is as a foundation. I was told over the years that my work needs to actually be more than consulting work, because I need to challenge what people are being falsely conveyed as change making.”Dr. Kimya Nuru DennisIn honor of pride month, your host, Corinna Bellizzi, also shares some of her personal story. She may look like a cisgendered woman since she's married to a man with two young children, but she is also bisexual, having frequently dated women before choosing her life partner. Some minorities can be invisible, and as we approach the monumental day of Juneteenth, and celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride the month of June, this episode touches on topics we all need to consider. It will get you thinking about your preoccupations and what you can be doing differently to push for change.About Our Guest: Dr. Kimya Nuru DennisDr. Kimya Nuru Dennis is a community advocate, sociologist and criminologist, educator, and researcher. In part two of my interview with Dr. Kimya, she talks about Black mental health and why cops are often found not guilty at their trials. Here is Dr. Kimya's call to action:I (Dr. Kimya) demand a 10-year process resulting in 95% reduction in police funds and 95% reduction in police officers. There must be annual financial audits and annual policies, practices, and behavioral assessments for the remaining 5% of police funds. The researchers conducting the assessment cannot be selected and hired by police officials, law enforcement agencies, and government entities. Stop pretending police can be "reformed." Pretending reformation ignores or downplays the Emancipation Proclamation-based origins of USA police and ignores how Black people have demanded changes and reduction to police. People need to understand that Black people needing police is based on millions of tax payer dollars invested in police departments, inadequate police trainings, and police military equipment rather than millions of tax payer dollars invested in preventive measures--improving school materials and reducing inequities in school tests and school accreditation requirements, improving community holistic-based mental health and physical health services (including health and suicide crisis lines that do not include police--police are NOT first responders), workforce development, family services, and funding and resources for non-wealthy community businesses and non-wealthy community non-profits. Black communities, in particular, are intentionally forced to rely on the 2 Ps: Politicians and Police. This never changes if Black people keep trusting and relying on politicians, political parties, and police departments. We can vote, pay taxes, and demand things from these powerful people without relying on these powerful people for our lives and our resources. It is important for Black people to realize centuries of white people (and token Black people and token non-Black people) punishing Black people when we are non-compliant. Examples include police intentionally not responding to crime incidents in an attempt to punish Black people for demanding defunding of police, etc. Police have never been defunded anywhere in USA. Crime data does not represent reduction in police funds or reduction in police presence (with exception to when police ignore calls for help)This episode is brought to you by Omio. Dr. Kimya Dennis Ph.D. is the founder and owner of 365 Diversity, LLC. In addition to being a criminologist and sociologist, Kimya Nuru Dennis is a childfree-by-choice sociologist invested in sexual rights and freedoms and reproductive rights and freedoms. An expert on various topics, including Childfreedom, Kimya accepted our invitation to come to our show to talk about our reproductive choice through various lenses: a broad sociological point of view; one that was focused on race; and another one that analyzed it through criminology. This conversation is rich and touches on several subjects that cross over what being childfree means. We only scratched the surface and encourage you to dig deeper into these issues.
