On Nigeria's complex political landscape, the debate over rotational presidency has resurfaced. This follows the rejection of a bill that sought the formalization of the system in the Constitution on the floor of the House of Representatives. While proponents argue it could foster national unity and equitable representation, critics warn that it may undermine meritocracy and deepen divisions. This episode of Nigeria Daily looks into the complexities of this debate.

Yet another California Democrat wants to give lawbreakers a free pass—this time decriminalizing welfare fraud up to $25,000 for 'administrative errors.' Because clearly, the solution to California's problems is fewer consequences for breaking the law! This episode exposes Senator Smallwood-Cuevas's SB 560 that would eliminate criminal penalties for welfare fraud below $25,000, despite LA County already investigating 15,000+ fraud cases annually with only 200 reaching prosecution. Is this genuinely about protecting families from paperwork mistakes, or just another layer of California nonsense that taxpayers will ultimately fund? When officials claim they're 'holding people accountable' while simultaneously removing accountability, you know something doesn't add up. Subscribe, share, and comment below with your thoughts on whether decriminalizing welfare fraud will actually solve anything—or just create more problems for honest taxpayers.
What happens when black markets grow bigger than the governments trying to stop them? In this eye-opening episode of The Brian Nichols Show, we dive deep into the dark underworld of Latin American cartels, the surprising migration of the Hells Angels, and how government failures—both north and south of the border—are fueling a booming global underworld. Strap in as we expose the economic rot, the policy blind spots, and the unintended consequences that are creeping into your backyard faster than you think. Studio Sponsor: Cardio Miracle - "Unlock the secret to a healthier heart, increased energy levels, and transform your cardiovascular fitness like never before.": https://www.briannicholsshow.com/heart You'll hear from journalist and geopolitical analyst Joseph Bouchard, who spent years embedded in Latin America reporting on cartels, corruption, and collapsing state infrastructure. Joseph breaks down why these gang networks are spreading like wildfire, and how economic despair—not ideology—is the real root cause. We explore how gangs exploit market failures, fill power vacuums, and often deliver services better than the government can. It's wild. It's real. And it's happening now. But we don't just stop there. Brian and Joseph wrestle with the libertarian dilemma: What should the role of government be in stopping violence while preserving freedom? Is it possible to have less government and less crime? Or is that just a fantasy? This conversation doesn't pull punches—it confronts the gray areas head-on and dares to ask if libertarianism can truly handle 21st-century chaos. From Venezuela's illegal economy to Canadian drug policy experiments to Brian's epic football analogy about government as a referee, you'll get a one-of-a-kind blend of politics, economics, and humor. This episode isn't just smart—it's practical. It will challenge you to rethink what “law and order” really means and whether your current political beliefs are ready for the real world. Ready for the truth about gangs, government, and the growing power vacuum? Then hit play now, because this is the conversation everyone should be having, but isn't. My conversation with Sen. John Marty (Roseville) about an effort in the state legislature to legalize sports gambling apps: the recent failure to pass the bill out of committee and what that means for its prospects in 2025; why anyone who's lived through the last 15 years of smartphones and social media would think it's a good idea to set tech companies free to unleash 24/7 pocket casinos; the extensive and compelling studies that have measured an increase in human misery in the 30 states that have legalized gambling apps (30% increase in bankruptcies, increased domestic violence, decreased savings); the fact that the only organized advocates for legalization are gambling interests who stand to profit; and how this is not like the debate over cannabis legalization.Watch: https://youtube.com/wedgeliveJoin the conversation: https://bsky.app/profile/wedge.liveSupport the show: https://patreon.com/wedgeliveWedge LIVE theme song by Anthony Kasper x LaFontsee

Recreational cannabis is now legal to purchase in nearly all of our neighboring states. Can 2025 be the year that Pennsylvania decides to fully legalize as well? We're turning to SpotlightPA reporters Ed Mahon and Stephen Caruso to figure out the political climate, the potential hurdles, and exactly how cannabis sales could even work. Like, would it mirror Pennsylvania's centralized alcohol sales? What would happen to the state's medical program? And if legalization isn't on the table just yet, could we expect to see any decriminalization efforts underway? It's Thursday, October 24th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Persecution of Christians has worsened since 2022 Aid to the Church in Need released a report on Christian persecution this week. The study found the situation for Christians in 18 countries of key concern significantly worsened between 2022 and 2024. Militant Islam was responsible for increased persecution across African countries. And Christians continue to face discrimination under authoritarian regimes like China, India, and Iran. Aid to the Church in Need noted, “Recurring themes in the report include the displacement of Christian communities following attacks by extremist groups and the forced marriage and conversion of Christian women and girls, as well as the kidnapping and intimidation of priests and the publication of derogatory content about Christianity in school textbooks.” In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus said, “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven.” Britain ready to legalize assisted suicide The U.K. parliament is considering a bill to legalize assisted suicide. A Christian group called CARE is opposing the bill and asking Christians to write their members of Parliament. Ross Hendry, CEO of CARE, said, “With huge pressure in the media and politics, we face the worst ever threat of assisted suicide becoming law. I urge you, please, to write to politicians to share your concerns. . . . Throughout history, the Church has strongly opposed assisted suicide and euthanasia.” Kamala doubles down on abortion Meanwhile in the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris voiced her no-exceptions pro-abortion view on Tuesday. She told NBC's Hallie Jackson that she opposes any concessions on a national abortion law, including religious exemptions. JACKSON: “So, as a question of pragmatism then, what concessions would be on the table? Religious exemptions, for example? Is that something that you would consider? HARRIS: “I don't think we should be making concessions when we're talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body.” The Center for Baptist Leadership warned, “Kamala Harris says that she does not believe in religious exemptions for abortion. This means that all Christian hospitals, healthcare providers, and businesses would be forced to provide and cover abortion if she got her way. It would be the end of the First Amendment and religious liberty as we know it.” Trump: “Americans of faith are soul of our country!” Former President Donald Trump addressed the 11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting in North Carolina on Monday. He warned a Harris administration would come after Christians while promising his administration would fight to protect Christians. TRUMP: “If Kamala Harris gets four more years, the radical Left is not going to leave Christians alone. It's going to get worse and worse. You're going to suffer greatly. They will come after Christians all over the country. “I will create a new federal task force on fighting anti-Christian bias that will be done immediately. (cheers) And I think it's very important for the people in this room to know, like Dr Ben Carson knows, Americans of faith are not a threat to our country. Americans of faith are the soul of our country, right?” (cheers) Paxton suing doctor who gave transgender drugs to 21 kids Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced last week that he is suing a doctor in the state for giving transgender drugs to 21 children. Paxton said, “Texas passed a law to protect children from these dangerous unscientific medical interventions that have irreversible and damaging effects. Doctors who continue to provide these harmful ‘gender transition' drugs and treatments will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.” If convicted, Dr. May Chi Lau could lose her license and face $1 million in fines. German homeschooling family allowed to stay in U.S. another year And finally, the Home School Legal Defense Association shared an encouraging update on the Romeike Family yesterday. The family left Germany where they faced fines and imprisonment for homeschooling. They received asylum in the U.S. back in 2008. For some reason, U.S. officials decided to deport them back to Germany in recent years. Thankfully, HSLDA was able to obtain a one-year delay of deportation for the family last October. In the latest update, they announced officials have extended the Romeikes permission to stay in the U.S. for another year. Joel Grewe with HSLDA gave thanks for the decision, quoting Lamentations 3:22. He said, “We're grateful the current hurdle in front of them has passed, and we remain hopeful for the future. Indeed, ‘The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end.'” You can support the Romeikes' ongoing legal case through a link in our transcript today at TheWorldview.com. Episode 3954: Did The Pentagon Legalize Assassination?
Over 103,000 people need organ donations in the U.S. Some economists and health experts wonder whether creating a free or regulated market would resolve this. Those in support argue that with proper regulations, it can be safe, ethical, and financially beneficial for both sellers and buyers. Those against this have ethical concerns and point out the risk of abuse and undermining of the medical system. Now we debate: Should We Legalize the Market for Human Organs? Arguing Yes: Sally Satel, Psychiatrist, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and Lecturer at the Yale University School of Medicine Arguing No: Jeremy Chapman, Editor-in-Chief of The Transplantation Journal and Past President of the International Transplantation Society Emmy award-winning journalist John Donvan moderates Learn more about your ad choices. "Legalize and Regulate Sports Betting," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver wrote in The New York Times in 2014. "NFL Betting Promos & Bonuses | Top NFL Betting Sites & Offers for Week 9 NFL Odds & More," USA Today offered readers in 2023. "Bookmakers break down NBA, NHL playoffs, big bets," reads a June 2024 Fox Sports headline. It's not an exaggeration to state that, since its legalization in 2018, sports betting and other forms of sports gambling have all but taken over American sports media. Increasingly, over the last six years, leading sources on sports news, including ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS, and NBC, have signed multi-million and billion-dollar agreements with major players in the sports betting industry, and launched suites of gambling-themed verticals, podcasts, and series designed to urge viewers and listeners to keep placing their bets, no matter the social costs. These media platforms claim to reason that, amid a shifting media landscape where cable channels struggle to adapt to the streaming era and legacy newspapers hemorrhage advertising revenue, partnerships with sports gambling companies help keep them afloat. But what does it mean when sports media are beholden to betting companies? Given the predatory nature of the industry, and the clear conflict of interest of sports media also being gambling pushers, what are the social and political costs to shifting sports from an admittedly already very flawed entertainment business, to a widespread peddler of increasingly unsustainable and gimmicky gambling opportunities? On this episode, we examine how sports media in the U.S. have increasingly embedded themselves in the exploding online sports betting industry. We look at the corrosive effect this has on sports coverage, the glaring conflict of interest this generates, and the moral hazards of a media climate (and state and local governments) that welcomes with open arms a regressive tax pushed by a notoriously rapacious and exploitative industry. Our guest is, friend of the show, The Nation's Dave Zirin.
