This episode kicks off with a breakdown of President Trump’s controversial comments describing the escalating U.S.‑Iran conflict as a “short‑term excursion”, insisting the military operation is nearing its end even as U.S. officials warn the strikes may only be beginning. The show then pivots to an emotional moment in the political world as Jesse Jackson Jr. sharply criticizes former Presidents Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Bill Clinton, accusing them of using his father’s funeral to push political messages rather than honor the civil rights leader’s legacy—arguing that “they did not know” the real Jesse Jackson. The conversation intensifies as the team covers Dwight Howard’s newly filed divorce from Amy Luciani, following her allegations of drug use and Child Protective Services involvement—claims reported across multiple outlets as the former NBA star requests exclusive rights to his Georgia home and describes the marriage as “irretrievably broken.” Rounding out the show’s biggest moments, hip‑hop legend Treach publicly blasts his daughter Egypt Criss’s husband, calling him a “clout‑chasing clown” after Egypt was brutally knocked out by two‑time Olympic champion Jade Jones—a matchup critics say should never have been sanctioned due to the extreme skill gap. Is the Iran War REALLY America First? Pete Hegseth's Informative '60 Minutes' Interview | 3/9/26

President Donald Trump has intensified the U.S. campaign against Iran, demanding unconditional surrender from the regime and warning that any new supreme leader will not last without American approval. The ongoing conflict has driven global oil prices surging past $100 per barrel for the first time in years, disrupting supplies through the Strait of Hormuz and causing sharp rises in U.S. gas prices, which Trump dismissed as a short-term and small price to pay for eliminating Iran's nuclear threat. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, in his recent "60 Minutes" interview, defended the strategy, stating the U.S. is "on track" and "willing to go as far as we need to," including reserving the right to deploy boots on the ground if necessary, while insisting that Iran will ultimately have no choice but to surrender. He emphasized that the military is diminishing Iran's naval capabilities and confronting any external aid, such as reported Russian intelligence-sharing, strongly. Hegseth concluded by framing the operation as putting America First through decisive action to bring the enemy to its knees. WE ALSO COVER: It's official: a new ayatollah in Iran. Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they weigh in on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani being deliberately vague about who attempted a terrorist attack in the city over the weekend, national Republicans failing to counter Democrats' aggressive gerrymandering push in Virginia, and Jesse Jackson Jr. rebuking three former presidents for turning his father's funeral into a political stage.First, they slam Mayor Mamdani for being dangerously vague about the two explosive devices that two counter-protesters tried to detonate there at an alleged white supremacist event in NYC on Saturday. The two alleged terrorists gave multiple indications that they were motivated by Islamist ideology. Mamdani clearly trying to obscure the facts is very disturbing sign.Next, they sigh as Democrats pour tens of millions of dollars into a referendum aimed at redrawing Virginia's congressional map. The proposal relies on heavily contorted districts to achieve that outcome. Meanwhile, major national Republican organizations appear largely absent from the fight, prompting Jim and Greg to ask why the GOP is standing aside during this battle. Finally, they applaud Jesse Jackson Jr. for calling out Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden for delivering lengthy political speeches at the funeral of his father, civil rights leader Jesse Jackson Sr. Jim and Greg specifically highlight the hypocrisy of Obama, who always claims to pursue unity but gets divisive at every possible opportunity. Please visit our great sponsors:Unlock your healthiest skin by targeting visible aging signs at https://Oneskin.co/3ML with code 3ML for 15% off.Make this the season where no opportunity or customer slips away with Quo. It's Motivational Monday on The Clay Edwards Show, and Clay kicks things off with a powerful reminder: if you woke up today, you're on the wake-up list. Make it count—chase your dreams, love your family, and remember it could always be worse.   The energy quickly shifts to the episode's bold theme: Black Girl Tragic. Clay reacts to two shocking viral videos out of Mississippi—a woman completely destroying the housewares and fine china section with a baseball bat at the Magee Walmart, and a full-blown meltdown at a Dandy Dan's gas station in Hattiesburg that ends with the clerk dragging the customer out by her feet.   He breaks down the likely triggers (customer service disputes, being told “no”), pushes back hard against mental health excuses, shares lived experiences from his time working in Jackson, and calls out broader cultural patterns around public behavior and accountability.   Additional topics include Jesse Jackson Jr. criticizing how former presidents turned his father's funeral into a political rally, and the story of a couple fighting for the right to marry while in ICE detention.   Unfiltered, no-holds-barred commentary on culture, viral videos, and the stories dominating the headlines. Straight talk you won't hear anywhere else.

Chuck Todd examines the mounting political and institutional strain as the government shutdown drags on — and why Democrats may need to declare a partial victory just to move forward. The episode explores how Trump’s rise has exposed deep vulnerabilities in the American system, from unchecked profiteering and politicized justice to the growing entanglement of big tech, big money, and government power. Todd breaks down the Democrats’ limited leverage, the GOP’s dependence on Trump’s engagement, and the urgent need for new constitutional and institutional guardrails. Plus, he looks at the emerging generational clash in the Democratic Party senate primary in Maine, as Janet Mills and Graham Platner become avatars for an “old vs. new” fight that could reshape the party’s future. On this episode of Mea Culpa, I'm joined by Jesse Jackson Jr., former Congressman, son of civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson, and author of “A More Perfect Union: Advancing New American Rights” and “The Finger of God.” In 2013, Jesse was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for violating campaign finance laws, and like me, he hoped for a pardon from President Biden. Jesse reflects on his father's legacy and his own efforts to uphold those values in Congress. We discuss the challenges of public life as the child of a prominent figure, the need for ethical leadership in today's polarized climate, and the urgency of systemic reform to create fairness and opportunity for all. Jesse also shares his views on mass pardons, criminal justice reform, and the impact of socioeconomic inequality. I contacted Jesse over his work in using oak savannas as areas for grazing animals. Encourging landowners to work with what you got and those ideas made dividends! This was a different conversation, but it is something for landowners to ponder to create better habitat and relationships with farmers and ranchers by ressurecting this dying biome we call: Oak Savanna.

This week's guest has been behind the scenes in Chicago politics for years, but just out of the frame. He's crossed paths with Rod Blagojevich and Jesse Jackson Jr., worked on the Clinton/Gore campaign in the same political organization as a young Don Harmon and Phil Rock. But for the bulk of his career, he's worked for the Obamas, starting as a paralegal to Michelle Robinson at the law firm of Sidley Austin - not long before she and a hotshot Harvard grad named Barack Obama got married. About 20 years after first meeting the Obamas, Michael Strautmanis is now very much in the frame as executive vice president of civic engagement at the Obama Foundation. He discusses not only the progress on the Obama Presidential Center's construction in Jackson Park and the foundation's fundraising efforts, but also concerns around housing affordability nearby, what it's like as a guy who grew up mostly on the North Side to be handling a project with a big South Side impact, and how the foundation might play a role in addressing gun violence. Strautmanis also talks about what it takes to be a good “fixer” – a political problem solver – and the biggest political mess he ever had to clean up. Remember that beer summit back in 2009?

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the 4th study session on Gwen Ifill's 2009 bestseller, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama. An award-winning journalist and anchor at PBS, Ifill, 61, died from cancer in November of this year. Ifill was one of the lone black female mainstream journalists, and she often discussed Racism during her journalism career. In fact, White Supremacy likely contributed to her death at such a young age. During last week's broadcast, Ifill referenced Shirley Chisholm, the first black female to run for president, and many other white and non-white females who maintain that gender is a bigger problem than Racism. However, Ifill cited hard data - including Department of Labor statics showing that more than two-thirds of all bachelor's degrees earned by African Americans are awarded to women, that suggests White Supremacy dominates. Ifill also examined the political ambitions of Artur Davis, who hoped to become the first black governor of Alabama. Davis thought he could follow in President Obama's triumph and rely on a sizable portion of White voters to support him. He was incorrect. After the publication of The Breakthrough, Davis lost his 2010 gubernatorial bid during the Democratic primary and eventually bolted to join the Republican party in 2012. At the time this book was published, Ifill considered Jesse Jackson Jr. another example of the new breed of successful black politicians. Jackson publicly clashed with his father, and supported Obama's rise the White House. Following the book's publication, Jackson's was convicted of financial improprieties and sentenced to federal prison. Listeners should contrast how Ifill's presentation of Racism with the pending Trump Administration. During another slow week in Congress, Jesse Jackson Jr. resigns, Nydia Velazquez (NY) ignores a subpoena, the Department of Homeland Security gets investigated, the Senate fights about filibusters, and the Trans-Pacific-Partnership is confirmed as real, secret, and scary. Bills Signed Into Law: - HR 2606: Fast tracks Rockaways gas pipeline for Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company (Transco) - S 1956: Prohibits airlines from participating in EU cap & trade program. Jesse Jackson Resignation - Hasn't been seen since June and didn't campaign but still won his seat - Is under investigation for allegedly trying to buy Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat in 2008. Nydia Velazquez (NY) sent a letter to Congress saying she is going to ignore a subpoena - No information available on the court case she is involved in or why she is ignoring the subpoena. - Represents Brooklyn, Lower Manhattan, Queens. - Has been serving for 20 years - Top contributor is Goldman Sachs (she's on the financial services committee) - Got the vast majority of her 2012 money from large individual donors (rich people) and secret PACs (almost half a million) - Voted for bailouts and against auditing the Fed HR 5913: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Accountability Act- passed the House 11/27 - Independent panel to do an assessment of DHS because its creation was and remains high risk. - DHS was a creation of the Bush administration in 2002 - 22 agencies were merged = dysfunctional government - FEMA - issued huge contracts with little to no oversight after Katrina. - TSA - hundreds of employees have been arrested for thefts. - Immigration & Border Patrol- employees arrested for accepting bribes. - Federal protective service - short staffed and not performing their duties sufficiently. - Senate also passed S. 1998: tells DHS to keep financial records for an audit next year HR 6429: STEM Jobs Act- passed the House 11/30 - Legislation backed by Apple, Oracle, Cisco, & Adobe - Makes it easier for foreign students graduating with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math to get visas - Limits the number of visas for regular families - Eliminates the diversity visa program that gives visas to people from more random countries - Won't be become law; Obama administration is opposed Filibuster Change in Senate - Filibuster = Objection that postpones a bill from coming up for a vote. - One strategy is endless debate: Senate rules allow Senators to speak as long as they wish unless 60 Senators vote to shut them up (cloture). - Another strategy is an individual Senator placing a hold; if 60 votes aren't there to over-ride the hold, the bill is blocked from a vote. - Changes to Senate rules can be done by a simple majority but only on the first day of the session in January. - Most likely change: the next Congress might require the blocker to stay on the floor and defend their objection. - 1960's: No Congress had more than 7, 2000's: Avg over 100 in each of the last 3 Congresses Trans Pacific Partnership - A trade deal being crafted in secret with the cooperation of 600 corporations. - Will manage 40% of all global trade (according to Secretary of State Clinton). - Congressional representatives have been denied access to TPP negotiations and documents. - Next round scheduled for next week (Dec. 3-12) in Auckland, New Zealand
