Experience the thrill of the unknown with the 222 Paranormal Podcast today! Gore Orphanage info The real name of the Orphanage was the Light of Hope (also referred to as the Light and Hope). It was built by the Reverend John A. Sprunger and his wife in 1903 after their orphanage located in Bern, Indiana was destroyed by fire in 1899. Three orphan girls were reported to have died in that fire. The name Gore Orphanage was adopted by young thrill seekers over the years because it apparently fired their collective imaginations of murder and mayhem at Sprunger's home for orphans. The belief is/was that the word "gore" was referring to that of a bloody wound. Thus it amplified, and seemed to substantiate, the ever evolving horror story about the place. But in fact the word actually referred to a topographical description of the land running the length of the road in Lorain County, Ohio where it is located. In brief, it was simply a triangular piece of land (hence the name "gore"). Prior to the orphanage being established along the road it was called Gore Road. The Collinwood Fire On 4 March 1908, a tragedy occurred that prompted changes in school safety across the United States. About nine o'clock in the morning on March 4, 1908, nine-year-old Niles Thompson jumped out of a window at Lakeview Elementary to escape a fire that had started in the basement of his school. Nearly two hundred children who had also been lucky enough to escape watched as flames engulfed the Collinwood school. Niles frantically ran among his schoolmates, searching for his little brother, Thomas. Once Niles realized his brother was not one of the safe children, he ran back into the school to save Thomas. Neither of the two Thompson boys walked out of their school again. Niles and Thomas Thompson were among the 172 children and two teachers who were trapped inside the school and died in the fire. Nineteen of these children could not be identified. That weekend, the entire Collinwood community mourned for those lost. According to Cleveland's Plain Dealer, "The village seemed to be one vast procession of hearses and carriages. . . . Scarcely did one funeral carriage pass before another came into sight wending its way with its sorrowful burden to the burying grounds. . . . Those who had no dead to mourn stood on the streets watching the grim procession as they passed. There was scarcely a dry eye in Collinwood." The following Monday, memorial and funeral services were held at Lake View Cemetery for all the victims of the Collinwood school fire. Businesses in the Collinwood neighborhood were closed for the day out of respect for the dead and their families. Lakeview Elementary children that survived served as pallbearers and other Cleveland school children made memorials in the shape of flowers.

What happens when the sanctity of our democratic process gets questioned right before our eyes? I found myself in the thick of such a scenario, with the eerie sight of ballots being smuggled into black garbage bags, and the whole episode reeking of malfeasance. Join me as I convey the gripping story of potential election mishandling in Lorraine County, where the line between a casual beer and meatloaf and the integrity of our votes was disturbingly blurred. This isn't just a recount of unsettling events; it's a clarion call for upholding electoral transparency. Our conversation pivots around the hefty weight of suspicion when ballots with an unclear fate enter the scene, and the immediate action that's sparked—a fusion of contacting election watchdogs and the FBI to peel back the layers of this mystery. We delve into my real-time reactions, the importance of every vote being counted correctly, and why witnessing such irregularities shouldn't just trouble us, but propel us into guardians of democracy.Wrapping up, I articulate an urgent plea to amplify the truth through a crucial video evidence that must reach as many eyes as possible—for the sake of justice and my own safety. I reveal my plans to retreat into anonymity, but not before ensuring that the community is armed with the knowledge to demand accountability. It's a powerful episode that will leave you questioning, reflecting, and hopefully, acting on the frontline of protecting our collective democratic rights. Welcome to another Episode of 50Talk. This week we bring to you the magic show number 78. How do I know that? I had to go to Spotify to make sure I was giving you all the right episode number. I've been having an issue remembering where we are at but it's all god now. This week Cathy and I have some pretty interesting topics to talk about so lets get into the conversations. Our 1st topic is about Father's Day and what a great day t was for me. Cathy never disappoints when it comes to celebrating and she didn't this Father's Day. She planned a big breakfast for me and all the boys came over and my grandson and we had a great time. My Grandson even gave his Dad his present while they were over as well and it had my boy crying. I just love being around my boyz not just for holidays but all the time. They make me so proud, hell I even think they like me sometime. This weekend was a weekend of celebration for the Johnson's. With Juneteenth being recognized for the 2nd time federally it was a great time for Cathy and I to get some history on the City of Oberlin and what part it played during slavery. We have lived in Lorain County for over 25 years and it was our 1st time dong the tour. We learned so much and are looking forward to the follow up tour in August, What really is a salad? We get into a thought provoking conversation on that question. It definitely makes you think. Is it the lettuce/greens or is it the dressing? Hopefully you can let us know. Send your answer to our 50Talk email at victor50talk@gmail.comNext up it's time to grab a towel because the show is about to get hot. Which way do you prefer to have sex/make love? Do you do "it" under the sheets or on top of the sheets? Their are so many reasons to do it one way or the other but we are gonna let you guys know the best way. The Minneapolis Police Department had been investigated by the Department of Justice for the last couple of years and they are finally done. Listen to what the findings are and what we think they need to do to change the culture there. We don't have all the answers but we try. We can't go an episode with out talking Politics and a few of our Republican Presidential Candidates have given me a lot to talk about and that talking got me all hot and bothered. Maybe it's my passion again but what in the hell is going on with these guys? Thanks for joining us this week and we will see you all next week for another conversation filled episode.

School meals should be no different than textbooks or transportation services provided to all public school students; they are a basic need for children to learn in school. But, since the end of the pandemic-era programs that provided free school meals for all students in all districts, too many Ohio students are going without the meals they need. On February 20, the Ohio Education Association hosted a virtual press event on behalf of the Hunger-Free School Ohio coalition to call on state lawmakers to expand access to school meals for all. In 1989, the United States went to war with Panama and their military dictator, Manuel Noriega in what is called Operation Just Cause. In "Ohio v. Panama" Alex explores the complex history between the US and the isthmus of Panama since the the country's birth in 1903. This Memorial Day we will honor the legacy of PFC James Markwell (1968-1989), the fallen Army Ranger from Cincinnati, Ohio. We speak with Markwell's mother, Sandee Rouse, about her son's life and legacy and how his ultimate sacrifice lead to a 25 year between Sandee and our 41st President, George H.W. Bush. We sit down with CSM (Ret.) Michael Hall of Lorain County, OH about his combat service Operation Just Cause as an Army Ranger. Mike Hall tells us about his missions in the war, including the opening raid on the airport outside Panama City that would take the life of Private First Class Jimmy Markwell. We're joined also by historians Juan Santamarina and Dr. Orlando Perez, from the University of Dayton and University of North Texas-Dallas, respectively. Juan tells us about the history of the comprehensive American role and presence in the isthmus of Panama during the 20th Century. Professor Santamarina discusses President Theodore Roosevelt's role in the creation of the country of Panama and the completion of the all-important Panama Canal. The rocky relationship between the Americans and Panamanians that lead to the Torrijos-Carter Panama Canal Treaty in 1977. Dr. Perez discusses the rise and fall of General Manuel Noriega, the Panamanian military dictator at the center of this war. From his possible role in a presidential assassination, the War on Drugs, the Contras and his eventual downfall and surrender to American authorities in the first weeks of the War. We also look at the controversy that surrounded Operation Just Cause over the last 30+ years and the state of the isthmus of Panama following the war. This Memorial Day weekend we salute those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of the United States of America.
