Your sense of self is worth protecting, Wild One. That's why, today, Dolphin as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal and the Knight of Cups from the Rider Waite Smith Tarot Deck arrive to tell you that it's okay to have fun! If you've been feeling down or if you've lost touch with your sense of joy, these Guides will show you the way. TAROT CARD MEANINGS The Knight of Cups is a messenger, and his message is one of replenishment and joy. It is said that the Knight of Cups is the most feminine of the knights in the tarot. That's because the contents of his cup have the power to restore life to even the most inhospitable terrain. The landscape through which he rides on the Knight of Cups tarot card is barren, although a river runs right through it. Only in the distance can you see a few clusters of rugged trees. SPIRIT ANIMAL MEANINGS In the Animal Spirit World Dolphin is like the honorable friend and ally who always loves you and makes you smile. Playfulness is natural to Dolphin. If you are gasping for air, Dolphin lifts you and your spirits above those tumultuous waves with compassion. This creature never impugns your ability to swim. They just know you sometimes need a life preserver, particularly in matters of the heart. What do the playful Dolphin and the Knight of Cups have in store for your Saturday pick a card tarot reading? With a mix of indie, hip hop and jazz, the English five-piece called easy life have released their debut album after four years of singles and mixtapes. They've built a sizeable following at home, but Australia has also picked up early on the band's charms and knack for catchy song writing, with Sydney rated as one of their top five cities for listeners online. Lead by singer Murray Matravers, who was raised on a farm in Loughborough in the middle of England, you'd think singing about the beach would be the furthest thing from his thoughts. But once lockdown hit, escapism followed, and he explored a set of song ideas based on a trip to the beach. He explains more to Richard Kingsmill about the band's history and his approach to song writing on their impressive album life's a beach.

Bron and Dr Beach bring you this week’s hour of all things wet ‘n salty, including:• Baykeeper Neil Blake calls creeks and rivers the ‘skinny bits of the bay’, so with that in mind, Neil joins forces with Werribee Riverkeeper John Forrester to talk about platypus, and their connection to the sea. Neil also reports on his recent work with Darebin Creek Sweepers, and John will tell us about a clean-up event happening tomorrow.• We’ll then catch up with Jacqui Younger and Mandy Robertson for an update on the ‘Save Our Spidercrabs’ campaign, including the group’s response to a recently proposed spidercrab bag limit reduction by Victorian Fisheries Authority, the value of research into spider crab population dynamics, and a growing interest in the campaign to protect the Spider Crabs as we start to think about what this year’s migration and moulting event might bring.• And in Life’s a Beach, Dr Beach returns to the marine soundscape: this week on how Fin Whale songs can be used for seismic imaging of the ocean crust and perhaps replace noisy air gun surveys.

Dr Victoria Camilieri-Asch, researcher at QLD University of Technology will join us from sunny BrisVegas discussing her reseach into how Sharks and Rays smell - and don't say "terrible...". She would have been doing a "Pint of Science" chat in a pub for the festival in May pre-COVID but instead she joins us live (maybe not with a beer in our hands)... Dr Wing Chan from the University of Melbourne returns to discuss the amazing work she and her colleagues are doing on climate resilient algae that live inside coral so the GBR can last beyond this century. And Dr Beach has a Life's a Beach segment where he will be talking science and, among other things, a very cool paper on how monkeys crossed the pacific on rafts more than 30 million years ago to colonise South America. Seriously!

Arthur and Phil have been together for 20 years as a committed couple. Both had long careers as lawyers. Phil worked for 30 years as an in-house corporate lawyer for a large insurance company. Arthur concluded his legal career as the Dean of Students at New York University Law School. They retired in their mid-50s and have followed a wide range of passions: art, music and travel. But at the top of the list is yoga instruction. They have created an amazing experience called AP Yoga. Yes, between Memorial Day to Labor Day, you’ll find them on the beach in Asbury Park, NJ. Seven days a week they teach yoga seven-days-a-week to an enthusiastic group of regulars and tourists from 7:45 to 8:45 am. During the winter months, they teach yoga on Saturday mornings in their local community center in nearby Interlaken, NJ. And that’s where Second Act Stories had a chance to catch up with them and their students. Special thanks to my friend Jodi Heinz who is a regular at AP Yoga and suggested this episode.

Music has a beginning, a middle, and an end. It’s born of something less concrete than atoms and molecules yet lives a life that mirrors our own. There is struggle, conflict, creation, and destruction, all happening in a way that we can’t reach out and touch with our hands. Sometimes there are neatly packaged episodes, wrapped up, tied off with a bow and delivered directly to your front door. Other times, there are scrambled messes that leave us wondering what just happened and not knowing whether we should carry on or abandon the story.

Life's A Beach is John Baker Jr's debut feature. It's a documentary about Jerry 'Mungo' Francis who set up home on a beach in Folkestone to lead a life free of the rat race. Soon after John started to film him to get his story a dispute over land ownership and rights sprung up that put Mungo at loggerheads with various private and public sector bodies. Tragically he died before anyone had the chance to throw him off the beach. Life's A Beach is an inspiring, and ultimately a sad tale. A true life David vs Goliath. We talk to John Baker Jr and his father John Baker Sr about making their first film together. After premiering at the Glasgow Film Festival it gets its London Premiere at the East End Film Festival on 5 July at 13:30 (Genesis Cinema, Mile End) Full details and ticket information is available at http://www.eastendfilmfestival.com/programme-2015/15040/lifes-a-beach "Carefree" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Intro/Outro music: Gaslamp Funworks by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a CC Attribution 3.0. incompetech.com/music/royalty-fre…isrc=USUAN1100826.

Who can stop the mighty Whitecaps?! Vancouver Whitecaps are on a roll. Life's a beach and that's why we've taken this special quick hit edition of the podcast on the road and to the sunny beaches of California this week. It's just one man and his dog, as Michael McColl and his faithful companion Predictapooch look back on the Caps' win in Portland and ahead to Saturday's final game before the World Cup break, away to Philadelphia. We also hear some audio about both games from Whitecaps' coach Carl Robinson. And there's still time to hear what we're sure will be our question and quote of the year in AFTN's end of season awards. No sea anemones, starfish or hermit crabs were hurt in the making of this episode.

Sure, Chattanooga is doing great things with a gigabit network. However, Santa Monica's no slouch in a gigabit club that's still pretty small in number but huge on community benefits. They have a 10 gigabit network! Santa Monica started in 2006 with no money for a fiber network. City CIO Jory Wolf banked on creativity and business savvy to use Santa Monica's then dark fiber to save not only $750,000 in telecom costs, but also substantial costs for the city's schools and colleges. Today we explore in detail broadand's impact on local economies. Jory's team has leveraged the network to attract new media and entertainment companies, reduced telecom costs for existing businesses and increased the number of providers serving Santa Monica from one incumbent to 200 ISPs. Like Chattanooga, Santa Monica's fiber network also enables powerful wireless apps, including parking meter management, wireless hotzones and commercial corridors and smart grid. ....................................................................................................................................
