Czy wy też zghiblizowaliście swoje zdjęcia w aplikacji ChatGPT? To niewątpliwie największy trend ostatnich dni. Tyle, że idący wbrew wartościom wyznawanym przez japońskie Studio Ghibli, założone przez legendarnego reżysera i rysownika Hayao Miyazakiego. Moda na ghiblizację tak bardzo się spodobała, że odbija się to czkawką samemu OpenAI. Sam Altman alarmował, że "palą im się procesory graficzne", więc tymczasowo trzeba będzie wprowadzić ograniczenia. OpenAI i tak jest największym wygranym tego trendu - dzięki ładnym filtrom dostępnym za darmo firma zdobyła tysiące zdjęć, w tym prywatnych - z wakacji, fotografii dzieci, miejsc pracy, wydarzeń publicznych. Ale tam, gdzie amerykański big tech zyskuje, amerykańska administracja traci. Najpierw przez USA przetoczyła się SignalGate, gdy okazało się, że wysocy rangą urzędnicy planują atak militarny na buntowników Huti w Jemenie w... komercyjnie dostępnym komunikatorze. Co więcej, do tajnego czatu, na którym omawiano szczegóły ataku, rodzaje broni i harmonogram, dodano dziennikarza, redaktora naczelnego magazynu "The Atlantic". To on ujawnił niefrasobliwe podejście administracji Trumpa do tajemnic państwowych. I fakt, że niektórzy z nich atak komentowali przez emoji. Do tego spadające notowania Elona Muska przebiły już poziom podłogi. Jego zaangażowanie w politykę jest oceniane negatywnie przez zdecydowaną większość mieszkańców USA. Przez Stany przetoczyła się zresztą kolejna fala protestów przeciwko miliarderowi i jego DOGE. Całą tę niechęć widać w wynikach biznesowych. Akcje Tesli są o połowę tańsze niż w grudniu, a jej salony są atakowane. Sam Musk wchodzi właśnie w spór z drugim najbogatszym Europejczykiem o ziemię kluczową do dalszego rozwoju biznesu. To właśnie tematy, które omawiamy w tym odcinku Techstorii Light. A world of sprites and spirits encountered by childhood sisters in the 1988 animated feature film by Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away) and Studio Ghibli has become a hit stage adaptation for the Royal Shakespeare Company. The original composer Joe Hisaishi worked with playwright Tom Morton-Smith and Director Phelim McDermott and the production returns to the Barbican this autumn. Chris Harding and guests look at how this story of Totoro relates to Japanese beliefs about ghosts and nature, and how Miyazaki used ideas of childhood innocence to critique post-War Japanese society. Chris Harding is joined by the playwright Tom Morton-Smith, Michael Leader from the podcast Ghiblioteque, Dr Shiro Yoshioka, Lecturer in Japanese Studies at the University of Newcastle, and Dr Xine Yao, co-director of qUCL at University College London, and a Radio 3/AHRC New Generation Thinker. A new musical, Everybody's talking about Jamie, is based on the story of a 16 year old boy determined to go to his prom in a dress and become a drag queen. Samira Ahmed went to rehearsals to meet Dan Gillespie Sells from band The Feeling, and screenwriter Tom MacRae who have created their first musical, as well as Jamie Campbell, now 21, on whom it is based. Vic James's debut novel, Gilded Cage, is set in a Britain where the magically-skilled aristocracy compels all commoners to serve them for ten years. Vic wrote it on Wattpad, an online storytelling website. It was read over a third of a million times and went on to win Wattpad's Talk of the Town award. She joins Samira, live. The Allure of Napoleon is the opening exhibition in the Bowes Museum's year-long celebration of its 125th anniversary. Dr Tom Stammers, lecturer in European Cultural History at the University of Durham, discusses this show which presents Napoleon as one of the first celebrity statesmen, who burnished his ascent from political outsider to national leader with the power of art.Hacksaw Ridge has six Oscar nominations; including Mel Gibson for Best Director. The film tells the true story of Desmond Doss, the first conscientious objector to earn the Congressional Medal of Honour for saving the lives of 75 soldiers in Okinawa, one of the bloodiest battles of WWII. It's been hailed as a new kind of war movie because it graphically exposes the effects of guns on the human body while celebrating a central character who refuses to pick one up.
