Sean welcomes back massive friend of the show Luke, from The Howdy Beans Podcast! to discuss the first Wallace and Gromit film. What follows is a celebration of English television. With the shops shut on a Bank Holiday, A Grand Day Out (1989) sees an inventor Wallace and his pet dog Gromit travel to the moon in their home-made rocket ship, in order to replenish their cheese supplies. Because you can't have dry crackers can you?Discussion Points:-In the preamble, Sean and Luke still don't see eye to eye on Signs (2002), Bruce Willis's later film roles, and Gladiator II.-The genesis of Wallace and Gromit and the labour of love from Nick Park to get this film made. -"Let's bow to the inevitable"-Sean and Luke try to avoid tangents.-The size of Wallace's "door-stop" cheese slices.-Aardman films over the years.-The cooker on the moon and his dreams of skiing on Earth. -The death of Boomerang, CITV and Cartoon Network.-Luke is still disgusted with Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023).-Luke and Sean discuss subsequent Wallace and Gromit films The Wrong Trousers (1993), A Close Shave (1995), The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), A Matter of Loaf and Death (2008), and Vengeance Most Fowl (2024).Raised Questions:-How many aliases does Luke actually have?-Where's Sarah?-Do you need to describe Wallace and Gromit for the Americans?-Is it ridiculous to call this Wallace and Gromit, the one with the most unrealistic?-How did this film save an entire cheese?-Do you remember surround sound speakers around the room?-Is 'reverse-recency bias' a thing?-Is Moon Cheese just a different variety?Time stamps:0:09 Introduction and Sighs2:09 Signs Discussion5:28 A Grand Day Out Overview10:25 Nick Park and Aardman12:05 Wallace and Gromit Characters16:57 Animation Techniques23:03 Peter Sallis and Voice Acting28:08 Personal Memories of A Grand Day Out30:32 Favorite Wallace and Gromit Films37:49 Nostalgia and British Culture55:14 Ending Reflections1:01:04 Film Length and Experience1:02:53 Aardman's Future and Challenges1:08:15 Podcast Promotion and Closing RemarksNamed TV Shows:-Creature Comforts (1989-Present).-Brum (1991-2002).-Mr Bean (1990-1995).-Open All Hours (1976-1985).-Still Open All Hours (2013-2019)-Come Outside (1993-1997).-Mr Benn (1971-1972).-Pingu (1990-2006).-The Clangers (1969-Present).-Fireman Sam (1987-Present).-Joshua Jones (1992).-William's Wish Wellingtons (1994-1996).-The Queen's Nose (1995-2003).-The Demon Headmaster (1996-1998, 2019).-My Parents Are Aliens (1999-2006).-Jungle Run (1999-2006).-50/50 (1997-2005).-Get Your Own Back (1991-2004).-Cow and Chicken (1995-1999). -The Cramp Twins (2001-2004).-Ed, Edd and Eddy (1999-2006).-Dexter's Lab (1996-1998, 2001-2003).-Recess (1997-2001).-The Powerpuff Girls (1998-2005)-Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999-2002).-Hole in the Wall Game Show (2008-2009).-Shaun the Sheep (2007-Present).Thanks for Listening!Find us here: X: @YourselfReviewInstagram: reviewityourselfpodcast2021YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@ReviewItYourself Hosted on Acast. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023) is the second film in our unnecessary sequel month. Does it deserve to be here? Probably. Tell us what happens in the first Chicken Run film. Quickly. See? Unless you're one of the top stans, you probably don't remember. Why is that the case? Well, the first one was made in 2000 and while it is good, it's never really been spoken of again in the wider public sphere. After the chickens escape the Tweedys' farm in 2000's 'Chicken Run,' they settle on a secluded island and enjoy their newfound freedom. In this stop-motion sequel, again from the claymation experts at the UK's Aardman animation studio, the heroic duo Ginger and Rocky have hatched a daughter named Molly. Molly grows to be as adventurous and freedom-loving as her parents, and resolves to explore the world outside their chicken oasis. However, the human threat to chickens has only grown to encompass a much greater new peril: fast food. In this episode of Casual Chats, Patricia and special guest Arun Mehta from The Arun Mehta Show discuss about the 2023 stop motion animated film Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the sequel to the 2000 stop motion animated film Chicken Run animated by Aardman Animation. Taking place after Chicken Run, the chickens from Tweedy's farm have settled in a bird sanctuary. Ginger and Rocky have gotten married and had a daughter named Molly, who is just as rambunctious and adventurous as her father and wanting to know what's outside the sanctuary for freedom as her mother. However, due to their upbringing, they overprotect her. Molly runs away from the sanctuary and is captured by a farm that is happy, fun, and friendly, but has a dark secret. It's up to Ginger, Rocky, Bunty, Babs, Mac, Nick, and Fetcher to rescue Molly from the farm by breaking into it. When the film premiered on Netflix, it had gotten positive reviews from critics and viewers calling it a good successor to the first film with its animation, characters, and story, but not without bringing up the controversy behind replacing Julia Sawalha as Ginger because of ageism. Was it worth the 23 year long wait? What did Arun and Patricia think of it? Listen and find out. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/old-school-lane/support

Not since 1998's Babe 2: Pig in the City has a sequel to a cherished family film contained such unapologetically dark moments as Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. Not literal darkness as the film is as bright and cheerful looking as anything Aardman Animations has ever done.

A Chicken Run sequel just dropped on Netflix and somehow nobody heard about it. Is this fun for the whole family? Is it as good as the original? What is Netflix's marketing department doing in their spare time? Tune in now to hear my full thoughts!
Do you remember that film about a bunch of stop motion chickens pulling off a Great Escape-ish escape from the chicken farm where they'll all eventually become dinner? Well, Netflix certainly does, and they've invested in bringing the sequel to your television screens some 23 years later. Paul and Wayne have checked it out and at least one of them is not chicken in voicing their disdain for the film. The community selected this film from all the December releases, to be the new film that we cover for the month. Tony Coogan and Jay Cluitt return from 200 episodes ago, when we talked about the original "Chicken Run", but we are also joined by Rachel Wagner, back for a third week in a row and James Wilson, who is filling out the show completely. This is the sequel we have waited 23 years to hatch, was it worth all that time on the nest? Our guests will let you know what they think, as we dive into "Dawn of the Nugget" and some other stop motion films as well.

Andy Farnsworth joins KSL-TV to help audiences decipher #WhatToWatch for the weekend of December 15, 2023. "Wonka," the musical backstory of Willy Wonka, played here by Timothee Chalamet, is enjoyable for the whole family with a whimsically fun mix of magic and color. Over on streaming platforms is the family movie "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget," the much anticipated animated sequel to the original some 23 years later, with Rocky and Ginger parenting a rebellious teenager of their own. "The Family Plan" over on AppleTV Plus sees Mark Wahlberg trying to protect his family from his past life and prevent them from knowing he used to be an assassin in the sometimes ridiculous but also kinda fun and funny action-comedy. And the second season of "Reacher" is on Amazon Prime Video, perhaps the best action-thriller series on TV this year. Alan Ritchson is perfectly cast, and the story zips along with great supporting characters. (And according to Producer KellieAnn, it lives up to the books better than the movie version of the series.) Beyond Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Gaming, and Tech, the brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing the nerdy. Brilliant opinions and commentary on all things geek, but surprising knowledge and witty arguments over pop culture, Star Trek, MARVEL vs. DC, and a wide range of movies, TV shows, and more. Formerly known as SLC Fanboys, the show is hosted by KSL Movie Show’s Andy Farnsworth and KellieAnn Halvorsen, who are joined by guest experts. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah’s unique fan culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME. Listen regularly on your favorite platform, at kslnewsradio.com, or on the KSL App. Join the conversation on Facebook @FanEffectShow, Instagram @FanEffectShow, and Twitter @FanEffectShow. Fan Effect is sponsored by Megaplex Theatres, Utah's premiere movie entertainment company.

"Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget" had its world premiere at the 2023 London Film Festival, where it received strong reviews for its stop-motion animation, comedy, and warm heart. Releasing twenty-three years after the original Aardman animated film came out and received critical acclaim, the film had a tough hill to climb. Director Sam Fell was kind enough to talk with us and take us through the process of making the sequel to such a beloved film. Please check out the film, which is now available to stream on Netflix and is up for your consideration in all eligible categories, including Best Animated Feature Film at this year's Academy Awards.
