Send us a textEpisode 134: Terry Magryn, Marion Bay boat ramp EngineerThis week we are joined by Terry Magryn, the main man behind Magryn Engineering who worked on the recent Marion Bay boat ramp. After some negative reports around weed building up on the ramp, it was good to chat with Terry about their role in the project. Terry was able to explain that there are a lot of competing issues with designing a new ramp, with wind, wave and weed as well as financial limits, preferences from the local council and guidelines from the South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee all impacting on the design. Terry gave us a much greater understanding of the challenges with this boat ramp and also touched on some of his other projects including the Whyalla Jetty. We also discussed all of the news in SA fishing:No cause was identified for fish deaths at SARDI facility last year. Commercial pipi closure linked to algal bloom.Mt Gambier's Valley Lake set for Murray Cod stocking thanks to Recfish SA funding.Another Yabby Net exchange from Recfish and Green Adelaide. Some big boat brands are sold to other companies. 2 incidents of illegal squid fishing from Wirrina. Our tackle item of the week is the recoil rod leash from Shimano and we also chat about the increase in shark sightings across the state, including some epic footage from SA Angler and Dizzy's dad spotting a Great White just after we were swimming in and out from his mooring. Plus, all of the latest fishing reports including barrels firing up in the South East of the state, winter whiting warming up, plenty of squid, an unusual whale sighting off the Kingscote Jetty and a wrap up of our own fishing over Easter targeting Crabs and Garfish.

Hey, it's great to bring you... Episode #100!!! Six years, a lot of blood sweat, and tears as the saying goes but a huge amount of learning, growth, and fun... I've loved every moment. I want to acknowledge the support of XDEEP who had the vision to join us early as the show sponsor and have been with us every step of the way. I am incredibly grateful to Piotr, Patrick, Bart, Magda, Barbara, and the wider XDEEP team for their support. Other sponsors have also supported us... Shearwater, Seacraft, SEAL Drysuits, Fourth Element... and you'll hear it here first, Insta360. They are all fantastic brands that I love. Most of them I was diving before Speaking Sidemount and I'm very proud and thankful for their support. And then there is all of you. Thank you so much for your support as patrons. You are the group that helps with production costs so you are part of this team and I appreciate the support :). In this episode, sponsored by XDEEP and Seacraft, I catch up with one of the most interesting people I know... Josh Richards. Josh and I have known each other for five years and have knocked out some terrific dives together in some of the premier caves of Mount Gambier, South Australia... an area known as the "Limestone Coast". Josh and I delve into his fascinating journey from military service to stand-up comedy, to being in line for a one-way trip to Mars, and ultimately to becoming a prominent figure in Australian cave diving exploration. We discuss the intricacies of diving, the importance of teamwork, and the skills necessary for technical diving, particularly sidemount diving. Josh shares his experiences in discovering new cave systems in the Mount Gambier region and the dynamics of his team, the Soggy Wombats. Josh's stories emphasise the collaborative spirit of exploration and the joy of sharing discoveries with the diving community. Enjoy :) Steve

In hindsight, the reason for the the fatalities is quite clear. But in 1973, the cardinal rules of cave diving were not yet developed and it would take even more deaths for them to come to fruition and yet, although infrequent, cave diving deaths still result from divers ignoring what was learned the hard way. The Future direction of Footy And Netball has been decided and People are understandably unhappy – The Western Border has been torn apart …..60 years of history will disappear SANFL have a preference for the following Two senior competitions in the region, with the disbandment of the Western Border Football League. Four Clubs moving to the current Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League (KNTFL) to create a strong 14-team competition. Two Clubs (Casterton and East Gambier) to move to the current Mid South Eastern Football League Establishment of a separate junior football structure for the youngest age groups (under 8s – under 11s) to help increase junior participation. The Tyranny of distance will be the biggest issue for the New KNT league – how many parents will want to get up very early to play footy and Netty in Keith. Over 4 hrs of travel!!! How many supporters will give up a day to travel from Keith to Mt Gambier and visa versa? Why was east Gambier selected to go to the Mid SE competition Will we see not only Juniors but player across Footy and netball abandon the game? For 10 years, Frawley, alongside Brian Taylor, James Brayshaw, Garry Lyon and Damian Barrett formed the ultra-successful Triple M Saturday Rub team, entertaining the public with a unique brand of humour and footy analysis. In recent years, Taylor, Brayshaw and Barrett have remained core members of The Saturday Rub team, while Lyon and Frawley made the move to SEN to be key players in the station's football coverage. From 12pm this Saturday, they will come together once more in a tribute to their great mate. This is an episode from the Archives…sort of.  I recorded this one back in 2018, but the quality of the recording was so poor that it’s taken a long time to rescue it.  It’s worth the wait though.   I interview Pr Sammy Mwanzia from Kenya, who was visiting Australia.   I have an interesting connection to Pr Sammy – I grew up in a country town in South Australia called Mt Gambier, and a brother from Mt Gambier, Bob Hutton, travelled back to where he was born in Kenya…..and witnessed to Pr Sammy (who wasn’t a Pastor then).   It’s amazing how God’s truth travels around the world !   Coming from a “Christian” background, Pr Sammy had visited many churches, but finally saw the Truth being preached, just as it was in the Bible.  He has a great story to tell of how God has changed and blessed both his life and the lives of many other people in Kenya and other parts of Africa.   It doesn’t matter where in the world you are, God can change your life.  I’d love for you to reach out via email to podcast@revivalontheairtoday.com or head to our website to find out what the bible says.  www.therevivalfellowship.com   Don’t forget about our upcoming convention in Adelaide in June 2019.  You can find details here www.whatsyourstory.me   SCRIPTURES REFERENCED IN THIS EPISODE Isaiah 40:31 Psalm 119:24 Mark 16:16       OTHER REFERENCES IN THIS EPISODE Episode 31 – Pr Brian from Mt Gambier and his healing from Glaucoma http://www.revivalontheairtoday.com/e/pr-brian-from-mt-gambier/   #truth #bibletruth #prayer #speakingintongues #church #savedbygod #faith #healing #miracle #miracles #violence #changedbygod #trflife #whatdoesthebiblesay #africa #kenya   9cQ1GuqFW1SYhGUj3KEY

Then, Joanne Brookfield, a seasoned professional stand-up comedian, talks about her own experiences with the confronting work done by Sea Shepherd - not something we might associate with stand-up comedy. Joanne not only managed to cut it with the most hardened ocean protectors and activists, but come away from the experience with a stand-up comedy show currently on with the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
