Paweł is a Graphic designer by trade and started Car-Bone by chance. He was looking for some technical decals for the engine bay of an old 911, but found out that no one made them. He quickly designed his own, but there was a minimum order requirement of 500, due to the special foil used. Pawel listed the other 499 on Pelican Parts and they sold out instantly. This was how his business started. Car-Bone has grown into an internationally respected Porsche specialist that currently has a waiting list of 2 years for a complete build. They also design and manufacture their own custom parts and can produce anything Porsche-related. Paweł has produced Artwork and Graphics for multiple Petrolicious films in the past and still offers these services within his company. I reached out to Pawel, because of what he has built in the most unlikely of areas. He doesn't live in sunny California. He didn't study at the RCA and his parents aren't oil tycoons. Pawel is from Lodz, in Poland; it is hardly the Design or Porsche mecca of the world. Yet, through his passion for all things Porsche, he brought the demand to him. He is the epitome of 'build it and they will come.' Pawel is self-made in every sense and is a living example of how you make things happen when you don't live in the 'right' place. I will be talking to a cross section of people that work in the Car Design Industry. These will include designers, digital and clay modellers, vis artists and colour & material designers. The focus of our conversations will be centered around personal processes and experiences within the business. My aim is to demystify some of the preconceptions about this industry and give people an unadulterated glimpse into the business. I also wish to give the younger generation the opportunity to see that the people that these professionals come in different shapes and sizes and some of them will be unknown. The intention is to see that you should always be yourself and not let your job define or change who you are. Please get in contact if there is something specific you would like me to cover. I would also be really grateful if you could subscribe and share the podcast with anyone that has an affinity for cars, design or both. Thank you! A lifestyle automotive brand, Petrolicious has carved out a unique niche for itself by providing its audience with some of the best automotive videos on the internet. From beautiful barn find Fords, to some of the most eclectic and exotic automobiles the world has ever seen, Petrolicious had done a great job of curating the best machines on the planet. And everything was going great, until the former owner made some untasteful remarks online. After the incident, fans of the brand thought it was done, until that is, Pat Devereux, a long time creative in the automotive world, came in, grabbed the reins and decided to take the brand in a new direction. This week on the Hemmings Hot Rod BBQ, Musto and Stoner sit down with Mr. Devereux to talk about what the future holds for Petrolicious. Then, to top it off, we did a little digging through the Hemmings classifieds and came up with what we think is the perfect Petrolcious candidate, a bright red 1998 Lamborghini Jalpa, number 408 of a total 410 made. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lamborghini/jalpa/2415152.html

In our first episode, Petrolicious founder and CEO Afshin Behnia joins FCA’s Head of Global Design, Ralph Gilles. Gilles is undoubtedly an artist, but his relationship to cars goes beyond aesthetics. His FCA résumé includes time as the President and CEO of the Motorsports division and President and CEO of the SRT brand, among other positions within FCA, which helps explain why he’s way more of a tire shredder than a bean counter despite his influence in one of the largest car corporations in history.

Today's guest is a really special person... he's my brother! You’ve heard him on the show before as he was my co-host during some of the earlier episodes of Ask Farnoosh. Todd and I have a very big age gap. I am almost 11 years his senior, so you can imagine we have a special relationship. I remember changing many of his diapers, babysitting him and driving him to school. Both our parents worked at one point and the only person who could take Todd to kindergarten in the morning was ME. I would actually take Todd to my 1st period history class my senior year in high school and have a special note that allowed me to leave school at 8:30 to go drop Todd off at kindergarten and come back to school. I was single parenting at 17! Proud to say that Todd – a MILLENNIAL! – has gone on to achieve a great deal in his early 20s. He is currently a product designer at Petrolicious, a media company and award-winning film series showcasing the powerful relationship between vintage cars and their owners. This job he got by first just emailing the founder out of the blue. Talk about guts! Todd also teaches. He helps run a 10-week User Experience Design course at the technology school, General Assembly. He loves to play basketball and tennis. He is a die hard Patriots Fan and has recently taken up meditation. You wouldn’t know we’re related based on those interests…except the tennis part. He and I took lessons this summer and he kicked my butt. For more information visit www.somoneypodcast.com.

Yoav Gilad is the editor at Petrolicious. He was raised in the Washington DC suburbs where he spent his young adulthood getting speeding tickets, starting car clubs, and getting a degree in economics from University of Maryland. Yoav founded a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to people awaiting organ transplants. The allure of endless hours playing with pencils, markers, and clay was too strong and he decided to follow his passion for cars, design, and sketching and moved to Pasadena, CA to attend Art Center College of Design for another Bachelor’s degree, this time in transportation design. Yoav has worked in fashion, graphics, products, and transportation design and he’s taught in the Art Center for Kids program. He started his own website, ‘Keep It Wide Open.com’. After an epic Porsche road trip, and some help from Hagerty Insurance, Petrolicious hired him as their editor. When he’s not writing, editing, or taking photographs he is out driving and still getting speeding tickets.
