Almost a year ago, we did a special episode where we talked about two (kind of) related movies. We called it Double Feature and, well, we decided to do it again! In this episode, Ashley & Matt talk about the adventures of a magical car and its humans friends, as we discuss The Love Bug (1969) and Herbie Fully Loaded (2005).

The GBGBs are back (with special returning guest Micheal) to review our second movie featuring a car possessed by a demonic spirit (citation needed), Herbie: Fully Loaded! Micheal had last joined us during our review of Air Bud: Spikes Back, so we thought it was only appropriate to rope him into another 2000s Disney classic. This movie stars Lindsay Lohan as an aspiring racecar driver who meets a mysterious Volkswagon Beetle that seemingly has a mind of its own.... Hijinks ensue, the Beetle farts and pees on 6 different people, and Justin Long looks great in a tank top. Also discussed: The 2006 Kid's Choice Awards Quiz, what's a "car movie", and the terrifying real-world possibilities of having a self-aware car. Thanks for stopping by!
We're back with another bonus episode where we review the New Line Cinema cult classic, CRITTERS! Jace was out adventuring in Japan during recording so Ryan and Denali took up the helm this episode. Critters stars a bizarre batch of alien furballs hellbent on eating the inhabitants of Earth. It is up to two shapeshifting alien bounty hunters to dispatch these "critters" and rescue a terrorized family in rural Kansas. There's wild practical effects, slapstick gags, and even a full fake glam rock music video starring one of the main characters. Car fans fear not, we will be returning to the Car Season soon with our review of Herbie: Fully Loaded. But until then, enjoy this special review of CRITTERS! Thanks for stopping by!
With her friend Jack, she decides to investigate, and finds herself caught in a web of intrigue. It's an explosive parcel of action and adventure.Fun Facts:This is the last film that Lindsay Lohan stars in under her original Disney contract that required her to do three movies, the other two being The Parent Trap and Life-Size.At the beginning of the movie when Lexy and Jen are showing each other their outfit choices, the song playing was later used in Hannah Montana as being the song that Mikayla (Selena Gomez) sings.A song by the band Prozzak, "Get a Clue," appeared in the film and the music video was shown on Disney Channel at the time of its release. The name of the band was changed to Simon and Milo, named after the characters depicted in the music video, so their band name would not be associated with the drugs.A well-concealed reshoot took place in late 2001 to film a different ending concluding that the villain in the film was Meany. In the original ending, the villain turned out to be Mrs. Stern, a teacher at Lexy's school who had known Mr. Walker while he was living in Arizona.Next Movie: Gotta Kick It Up! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

We're hitting the salvage yard -- and then the NASCAR track -- to talk about Lindsay Lohan in Herbie Fully Loaded! Before we get to Michael McGahon's patron pick, though, we catch up on extracurricular activities (which are very Y: The Last Man heavy) and then do the stare and drive in the 2F2F minute (21:30), where we discover a similarity (of sorts) between Brian O'Conner and Frank Costanza. Then, we dive into Herbie Fully Loaded (31:50) to talk about the "car movie algebra" that yields Herbie, plus the weird amount of acceptance and understanding around Herbie's sentience. We also talk about whether or not Lindsay Lohan can ride a skateboard, whether or not her character Maggie should get any credit for her driving in this movie, and a piece of IMDb trivia about Lindsay Lohan that may be one of the weirdest and most troubling things we've encountered yet. The boys test out a new tradition by claiming August to be "A Long Way to Christmas". Much like last year where they watched "Accepted" starring Justin Long for their August bonus episode, this year they are selecting another film from this actor's illustrious career, "Herbie: Fully Loaded". Have they stumbled upon a genius idea or are they embarking on a tradition that will only make that lengthy Christmas wait even longer? Other topics discussed in this episode include: Jonah Hill, Steve Zahn, performance analysis, ways to make this movie better, bad cover music, dated product placements, and Brian's new photography hobby. “Herbie: Fully Loaded” is the first G-Rated movie featured on Pick Six Movies. It’s got possessed cars, batdads, “Herbie Speak” and lots of sexual innuendo. Lindsay Lohan’s contractual obligation to deliver her third and final movie with Disney puts her front and center of this early 2005 NASCAR infused continuation of the VW Beetle starring kid friend series. Except all the sex stuff, that’s totally inappropriate for children.

Monster Trucks 2016 was a box office disaster with a bizarre premise. But what if it's an 80s coming of age movie for a modern audience? Let's break down this weird nonsensical romp with glowing squids and evil oil companies! Spoilers abound.
MAGIC HERBS concerns Herbie: Fully Loaded, a FULLY LOADED film starring HERBIE!

The past weeks and months have been a wild ride here on We Want The D, thanks to The Summer of Love Bug. From the top of the Golden Gate Bridge to the bottom of the ocean, we've followed the adventures of the little car with a big heart with fascination, disbelief, horror and delight with equal measure. But now it's time to say goodbye, and there's likely no better way to spend our final hours with Herbie than by being wholly distracted by the fact that HERBIE: FULLY LOADED was also the final Disney film for Lindsay Lohan as well. It's almost a shame that the title character and franchise star plays second fiddle in their final film, but that's what happens you have Lohan, Michael Keaton, Matt Dillon, Justin Long all vying for screen time. It may not be the ending we hoped for, but it's the one we got. So we say to you - Adieu, Herbie. Adieu. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Special Thanks to Taylor Higgins (@taylorhigs) for our logo! Episode 19 of the Is This A Thing Podcast!"Robo Lotto Black Friday 4000"Potential Things This week: Soda Water Update: A "new manager type" gets all up in Marc's cup. Naming Your Car: All good names come about organically. Or come at the flip of a quarter and roll of a D6.The Lottery: A tax on idiots. Like Akshat, apparently. Although apparently we're the idiots for thinking so.Black Friday: This one's from the archives of two Thanksgivings ago. Support America. Support Black Friday.Feliz Cinco de Mayo! On this holiday we celebrate many potential things. First, we get an update about the riveting Soda Water Controversy from Episode 18. A new manager gets a little over zealous. Then, we think about Car Names. Believe it or not, the film Herbie Fully Loaded actually covers the death of car personalities (and names) surprisingly well. Akshat then argues about the Lottery. He's not stupid for buying a ticket. You're stupid for telling him not to buy one. Finally we finish with one from the vaults on Black Friday and Thanksgiving. Thanks for listening!"Just one word. Crankfest?" Special thanks to Fletcher Magellan for our new theme song, "Oh, No!" off his upcoming album. Listen to it, and other singles like it on his Soundcloud.

What better way to celebrate Mousterpiece Cinema's 50th episode than with another milestone? Yes, after what feels like years but has really only been a few months, Josh and Mike have reached the end of the Herbie, the Love Bug franchise. (Or have they?) This week, they're thrilled that Herbie has finally joined the 21st century in the 2005 reboot/sequel Herbie: Fully Loaded, starring Lindsay Lohan, Michael Keaton, and Matt Dillon. Josh and Mike get loose and silly almost immediately, ping-ponging from a mini-discussion of John Carter to looking at two of the writers of Herbie: Fully Loaded, Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, to the piece de resistance: Mike throwing down a challenge to all of you listeners! Find out about the challenge and more on the new Mousterpiece Cinema!
