Afshin Ziafat opens CROSS CON26 by pressing the gospel into the center—its news so precious that Jesus says it is worth losing your life for, and so powerful that Satan works tirelessly to keep us blind to it. From 1 Thessalonians 1, Ephesians 2, and Romans 3, Afshin shows that we are dead and destined for wrath apart from Christ—but that "But God," in mercy, made a way for God to be just and the justifier through Jesus' finished work. The call is simple and weighty: repent, believe, and turn from idols to serve the living God—no matter the cost. Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 1; Ephesians 2; Romans 3 Topics: Gospel, justification, repentance, assurance, Christian joy
Payments shouldn't feel like a maze. We sit down with Kurv's CEO, Afshin Yazdian, to unpack how a legacy “lifestyle business” evolved into a modern payments platform by stripping out friction, investing in human-centered service, and doubling down on tools that make small businesses stronger. From tap-to-pay on everyday smartphones to faster access to funds, the strategy centers on clarity and speed so owners can focus on sales, staff, and customers - not statements and support tickets.Afshin walks us through his unconventional path from law to leading roles at iPayment, Priority, and Paysafe before acquiring and rebranding EMS as Kurv. He shares what it took to rebuild operations, unify a new leadership team, and scale applications and activations nearly 10x in 18 months. We explore why transparent pricing, intuitive onboarding, and self-service matter just as much as getting a live expert on the phone, and how that blend becomes a moat in a commoditized market. We also dig into the high-stakes frontier of AI and fraud. With more digital leads and synthetic identities hitting underwriting queues, Kurv deploys machine learning to protect onboarding and e-commerce merchants while preserving approval rates. Add in real-time payments for better cash flow and a truly omnichannel approach - retail, field services, and online and you've got a playbook for SMB payments that is powerful without being complicated. Along the way, Afshin makes a strong case for culture as strategy: communicate clearly, care for people, and let that pride carry through every interaction. If you're building, selling, or relying on payments, this conversation will leave you with practical ideas for simplifying workflows, reducing risk, and earning loyalty.

Afshin flips Gil off and yells to Gil, "you're going down." Meanwhile we recap Andrew Gould's statements at the first status conference where he proceeds to tell the Judge he's ready to take the federal case to trial. In his argument, he steps on Raees' Mohamed's reputation in slamming the last lawyer on the State case for not knowing what they're doing. Here Andrew says he's got 35 years of experience and he's ready for a trial right now. The judge interrupts and says she too has 35+ years of experience and doesn't need Andrew to tell her what to be watchful for in this case and they continue their narrative that Gil and Jezuz are bullies. We revisit the encounter with Afshin at the Suns game. We remind Andrew that Brandon may not have received the memo that we are going to trial. Good thing he said it in open court where it was recorded so we can play the tape back when the case is dismissed. Lastly, Gil asks ICE agents to taker a a hard look in the mirror when doing their job and to be mindful that the women and children they're out arresting at church and at work are law abiding people in this community. Perhaps they would be better served if they were working on the thousands of outstanding felony warrants in Maricopa County looking for real criminals. Not misdemeanor immigrants. However, the consent agreement with the State Bar of Arizona says otherwise. We discuss the lawsuits that Bill Kelhoffer and Afshin Afsharimehr have against Gil to silence his podcast. While both cases are weak, they're attempting to drag Gil into further litigation. We learn that on the Federal lawsuit, Andrew "Fools Gold" Gould has requested from Geoff Sturr an extension for the depositions of Brandon Rafi and Rafi Law Group employees. Despite Geoff's best efforts since June 2025 to get deposition dates, he has gone unanswered to his requests. Good luck Andrew " I can't get out of the primary" Gould in winning that motion. We close the show with the Xander Garcia and learn about his livestream ,Wager Chasers. We look back on what started the advertising frenzy that was known as AZ Hometown Law Firm. Stay tuned for more.

The hosts and guests disclaim any liability for actions taken or not taken based on what is discussed.Today we learn that Brandon Rafi has filed a motion to dismiss his own lawsuit against Gil Negrete. After more than 20 months of relentless litigation and baseless accusations, Rafi is now seeking to walk away from the case he initiated — the same case that has tormented Gil and his family since it began.By filing a motion to dismiss his own lawsuit, Brandon Rafi effectively concedes defeat, doing so to avoid his upcoming deposition and potential court sanctions. But rather than asking for the case to be dismissed with prejudice — which would permanently end the matter — he has asked for it to be dismissed without prejudice. That request keeps the door open for him to re-file the same claims later, perhaps in front of a different judge or under a new theory. This move signals retreat — a tactical withdrawal to regroup and strategize his next attempt. We also take a look back at the role of Paige Rafi. From our perspective, Paige — herself a licensed attorney — remained silent throughout this process. She stood by as her husband advanced false and defamatory allegations that accused Gil of a home invasion and even a bomb threat against Rafi Law Group — claims that were completely unfounded and never substantiated by any evidence. As an attorney, Paige had an ethical duty under Arizona Rule of Professional Conduct 8.3 to report serious misconduct by another lawyer when it raises a substantial question as to that lawyer's honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness to practice. Her failure to intervene or report suggests at best willful blindness, and at worst, complicity.Instead of helping to end the conflict, she chose silence — and life continued as usual. We also uncover attorney Afshin's phantom release that was signed by an unconscious client. We further uncover the pending RICO case against Rafi Law Group and Jeff Raiffie at Arizona Injury Doctors. We apologize to Tyler aka Skrilla at AZ Spine! Keep grinding Tyler. If you've been a client of Rafi Law Group, you may be entitled to compensation. Feel Free to Reach Out to Us. Bye for now!
In this special message from Providence Church, Afshin Ziafat returns to 2 Corinthians 9 to challenge and encourage our church family toward cheerful, sacrificial giving as we approach Commitment Sunday on September 21.Afshin reminds us that our generosity flows not from guilt or pressure, but from a clear view of God's abundant grace and provision. God doesn't just call us to give—He calls us to give joyfully, trusting in His sufficiency. Through this initiative, we have the opportunity to invest in reaching the next generation, expanding gospel impact, and leaving a legacy of faith.

Jupyter's become an incredibly popular programming and data science tool, but how does it actually work? How have they built an interactive language execution engine? And if we understand the architecture, what else could it be used for?Joining me to look inside the Jupyter toolbox are Afshin Darian and Sylvain Corlay, two of Jupyters long-standing contributors and project-steerers. They've going to take us on a journey that starts with today's userbase, goes through the execution protocol and ends with a look at what Jupyter will be in the future - an ambitious framework for interactive, collaborative applications and more.–Support Developer Voices on Patreon: https://patreon.com/DeveloperVoicesSupport Developer Voices on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@developervoices/joinJupyter Homepage: https://jupyter.org/Jupyter Xeus: https://github.com/jupyter-xeus/xeusJupyter AI: https://github.com/jupyterlab/jupyter-aiJupyter CAD: https://github.com/jupytercad/JupyterCADJupyter GIS: https://github.com/geojupyter/jupytergis/Jupyter GIS Announcement: https://blog.jupyter.org/real-time-collaboration-and-collaborative-editing-for-gis-workflows-with-jupyter-and-qgis-d25dbe2832a6QGIS: https://qgis.org/ZeroMQ: https://zeromq.org/Sylvain on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sylvaincorlayDarian on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/afshindarianKris on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/krisajenkins.bsky.socialKris on Mastodon: http://mastodon.social/@krisajenkinsKris on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/krisjenkins/

Now we find out the Bearded Lawyer aka Beardo from Baller Busters has filed a bar complaint against Gil trying to weaponize the State Bar to attack Gil's reputation. I guess Beardo isn't as tough as he claims after all.

Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Luke 18:29-30 – “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God.” Romans 1:1 – “Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God” Romans 8:24-25 – “For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” 1 Corinthians 2:2 – “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 4:7 – “For who makes you different from anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” 1 Corinthians 15:19 – “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 – “Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Ephesians 2:12 – “Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.” Philippians 2:3-8 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross.” Hebrews 12:6 – “the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” James 1:2-4 – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” 1 Peter 1:3-7 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith—more precious than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 4:19 – “So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” 1 Peter 5:10 – “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

On the real with Afshin Javid, former Hezbollah fighter. Afshin takes us through his journey of growing up in Iran as a devout Muslim, making the transition to become a Hezbollah fighter only to have a conversion experience with Jesus in a Pakistani prison that changed his life.
Afshin, born as an Iranian, raised as a devout Muslim, believed in the jihadist revolution led by Khomeini. At the age of 12 he joined Hezbollah. On a mission to convert Christians in the United States to his religion, he was arrested after trying to use a fake passport. In his prison cell, Afshin met Jesus. Jesus challenged this young soldier with words that broke the hard-harded militant. He caved. Afshin knew as a student of Islam that no person could speak directly to God, but in that encounter, Jesus declared Himself as God. Today, Afshin is a whole-hearted follower of Jesus Christ, on a mission to make peace between the "Sons of Isaac" (the Jews), and the "Sons of Ismael" (the Arabs). If you watch only one video, watch this one; as Randy Kay, a former "militant agnostic," interviews a former militant jihadist. Together they speak as brothers in Christ.
From Going Underground: On this episode of Going Underground, we speak to the editor-in-chief of The Grayzone, Max Blumenthal, who joins us for a special interview. He describes a trail of ‘lies and deceit' by the Israeli government and the Biden administration on what really happened in the Hamas ‘Al-Aqsa Flood' raid on October 7. He claims the evidence points to Israel killing its own civilians while attempting to stop Hamas from taking hostages, and accuses Israel of atrocity propaganda that has been regurgitated by Biden's State Department to justify Israel's genocidal destruction of Gaza, using Israel's manipulation of ‘evidence' which has been shown across TV screens in NATO nations. He also points to racist double standards in the US, UK and European media in their coverage of Israel's war on Gaza. Read more at: The Grayzone

Click here for the extended episode, including the full interview with Afshin Rattansi. And don't miss Aaron's take on The Young Turks meltdown over him. Afshin Rattansi's show Going Underground is becoming harder and harder to see as the US, UK, and EU have all censored the RT. But Afshin has some good news for viewers: “With a VPN, you can always say you don't live in unfree places like the US or Europe or Britain, and say you live in Pyongyang where there is freedom to watch it.” Rattansi, whose channel RT has become known as pro-Russia propaganda, regularly calls out the Russian invasion and has guests who condemn Russian aggression. But that doesn't fit with the western narrative for the channel, so we don't actually get to see him. If only we lived in North Korea. In this interview, we examine the problems that led to the crisis in Ukraine and how world leaders dangerously get history wrong. “Scholars only talk about Putin and Putin's mind. This is corollary to the idea that WWII was about Adolph Hitler and not the Treaty of Versailles and the impoverishment of the German people after the war of reparations.” Without understanding the structures around leaders, like the hawkish state department and Russian Duma, “we're in the realm of Marvel comics and Hollywood individual good and evil.” This individualism is what leads people to blindly call for a no-fly zone, which sounds good in terms of good-against-evil, but in reality, will only cause more destruction. Or, as Rattansi puts it: “It'll be the end of the earth.” In this episode of Useful Idiots, we analyze no-fly zones, media censorship, and the path to peace in Ukraine. And we get treated to a very fun letter from Donald Trump. It's all this, and more, on this week's episode of Useful Idiots. Check it out. Learn more about your ad choices.
