Enthusiasm! Now this is a word that has changed meaning over time. In our day, when we hear about someone's enthusiasm, or being enthusiastic, we think of excitement, celebration, just spun up about something, mostly in a good sense. It comes from a Greek word meaning, to be “inspired or possessed by a god.” A way we might understand it is, to be in God and God in me in whatever I am doing. Or as they said about Jesus, “He has been consumed by God!”

My guest this week is Tim Roberts, a seasoned Learning & Development professional who has been running his own business, Enthuse, for the past four years where he focuses on the application of emotional intelligence in our workplaces and how we interact with colleagues. Tim explains that when we understand what our own values are and how these affect the way we communicate with others, then it provides a platform for cohesiveness, improved relationships, and overarching culture. He has also written a book (Break The Mould) that highlights the importance of not feeling the need to fit within a preconceived stereotype, but by being your true, authentic self, you are then able to be the best version of yourself.... and when you are the best version of you you can be then good things tend to happen!Tim had a few roles before finding his way into Training and L&D. By participating in a Leadership Development programme at the company he worked, Tim saw a whole new way of thinking about how to be an effective leader and he was 'sold'. It was a moment that changed his career trajectory and he hasn't looked back since.Whether you're in HR, Training, L&D, or any sort of management/leadership role, there are plenty of thought-provoking and inspirational elements that pop up in our conversation. If you'd like to find out more about the work Tim does or make contact with him then follow these links:www.enthusecoaching.comtim.roberts@enthusecoaching.comSupport the show
When it comes to fundraising, data is your biggest asset. It's the key to unlocking what, when, and how your supporters want to donate. But with great data comes even greater responsibility. Excellent management should be the number one concern for any charity, especially in the age of online giving. It is now more important than ever for charities to focus on data management, especially when it comes to their digital fundraising strategies. In this podcast, Enthuse and RedFox Research discuss how charities can best harness their donor data for growth and to build trust in their cause. They'll share tools and techniques you can adopt to better harness the data your charity already collects. The session will cover key topics such as how to communicate with different demographics, the art of donor retention, and the role of third-party fundraising platforms.

"Feast upon uncertainty. Fatten upon disappointment. Enthuse over apparent defeat, and invigorate in the presence of difficulties.” Today's Mind Bullet is about setting a new mindset: Start clapping! When misfortune hits, we tend to think in extremes. Didn't get the job? I'll be homeless in three weeks! It's easy to spin out into the worst scenario. But there's an infinite spectrum of possibilities, and staying optimistic is a great tool to steady yourself in the face of adversity to recalibrate your course. The great NFL coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks is in a near-constant state of clapping during the game. Seahawks missed a field goal? He claps. They fumble. He claps. The other team scores a touchdown? He claps. He's constantly showing his team that they're fine, there's plenty of time, and it's not panic time. This mindset goes beyond football into all aspects of life. Didn't get the job? It's OK, start clapping. Things not turning out as you expected? There's still time; it's not over yet. You're still in the game. Start clapping. There's time to fix this, and misfortune can be a great opportunity. Listen in to learn how to keep your vision intact when misfortune occurs, how to recalibrate when things aren't going your way, and help yourself not to stumble as you get back on your path to victory.
