Lola Kirke has played many roles as an actress (“Mozart in the Jungle,” “Gone Girl,” “Winning Time”), but as a musician her sights have always been set squarely on Country. After relocating from Los Angeles to Nashville in 2020, Kirke devoted herself to honing the craft she'd come to admire so deeply in artists like The Judds, The Pistol Annies, and Dolly Parton. Halloween approaches, and as is tradition, we're covering two Christmas tunes with a Halloween-y kick! The first is "Hell of a Holiday" by the Pistol Annies, which offers a mish-mash of Halloween and (select) winter holiday flavors, as well as some intriguing questions about what spells their respective cleric domains would have. Then it's "Flappie", a dark Christmas tune beloved in the Netherlands, hauntingly performed in English by Todd Rundgren. Oath of Miranda Lambert paladins would not approve. Anna was born in Illinois, but moved around often as a kid until her family found roots in Arkansas in 2002. She has loved singing since she was a little girl and vividly remembers her parents smiling and singing Bobby McGee in the living room while her daddy played guitar. She sang in church with her momma and had lots of car jam sessions with her, listening to John Denver and The Eagles on 8-Track. Her first guitar was a pawn shop Abilene, gifted to her by her daddy with a set of strings in 2007. Her biggest influences include: Bill Scranton, Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, John Denver, Carly Pearce, Pistol Annies, Johnny Cash, Ashley McBryde, Merle Haggard, Tammy Cochran, Loretta Lynn, Kitty Wells, SHeDaisy, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr. & The Dixie Chicks. She is a 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2021 Arkansas Country Music Award Nominee. She won Duo of the Year with Adam Cunningham at the 2020 ACMA's for their duet "Thinkin Bout You" and is nominated for 2021 Album of the Year for her album "Rain and Whiskey", released in January of 2020. Taylor Hughes is a country/blues artist and singer-songwriter from Lexington, Kentucky but now resides in Franklin, Tennessee. She has been performing professionally for a little over 5 years now but got her "start" in Nashville on a TV comcast called "Nashville Spotlight." Award winning gospel singer and vocal coach, Christy Sutherland, has described Taylor's voice as "rich chocolate cake with soul." Taylor has been nominated multiple times for best female vocalist, singer-songwriter, song of year, and best country act for the Lexington Music awards. She was awarded best singer-songwriter and song of the year in 2016 and best female vocalist in 2018. Hughes has played at several prestigious venues such as the world famous Stations Inn, Manchester Music Hall, and The Lyric Theater. Mud is a multi Blues Music and Living Blues nominee and bears an uncanny resemblance to his late father�s sound. We kick off another Inside Music Row with the mention of the Pistol Annies as the hot trio is set to release their second album together.  Look for the new album, "Annie Up," to hit stores May 7th.  Also in the news is the thrid annual Johnny Cash Music Festival as it is shaping up for 2013 - look for Vince Gill, Larry Gatlin, Jimmy Fortune, and many more to perform August 17th in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  Also in the news is a new corn whiskey on sale with Tennessee ties.  "Grandaddy Mimms authentic corn whiskey," is now being produced by Tommy Townsend; the lead singer of Waymore's Outlaws.  Tommy is also the grandson of notorious moonshiner Jack "Mimm" McClure and has received his family's blessing to bring Mimm's to market.  Finally, we go Inside The Song with B.J. Thomas to hear about one of his all-time most popular songs, "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head."
