Writing voice over marketing emails is hard enough of a task on it's own without having to worry about whether or not those emails are ever actually landing in the inbox of the desired recipient. There are things you can do when writing emails to help keep them out of the dreaded spam folder and get them into the inbox. Some of the red flags are a bit technical, but many of them are content related. It could be as matter of simply changing your subject line or cleaning up your email signature. In this episode, Brad Newman of Upper Level Hosting does a great job of breaking it all down, and doing it in the least technical way possible. At the end of the interview, he even introduces a tool that will help you check the score of your email address. As crypto has fallen from its previous perch high up in the atmosphere where the air gets a little thin back down here to earth where us mere mortals live it is an interesting time to say the least. Everyone is trying to figure out where we go from here. In a lot of ways this reminds me of the dotcom crash where afterwards many people walked away and said “well that whole internet thing was fun but time to get back to reality”, while others kept working at it and well we know the rest of the story, right?  So the existential question is whether or not we will look back in 5, 10 or 20 years and see this as just the beginning of a multi trillion dollar market with applications for every area of our lives, or if there is something to it, which there obviously is, but maybe the opportunity isn't as big as the hype has suggested?  To talk about and unpack all of this I invited Brad Newman from Baker McKenzie back onto the show. If you are interested in this topic than you are going to really enjoy Brad's insights.  And don't forget, if you like what you here subscribe to the podcast, follow me on twitter @thepulseofai , and ping me on linkedin.

On this podcast Jason Stoughton is joined by Brad Newman. Brad is a litigation partner at Baker McKenzie and leads the firms North America Machine Learning and AI practice and is the Chair of the American Bar Association Business and Commercial Litigation AI subcommittee.  It is hard to find a company today that does not use AI within their recruitment, screening and hiring process. It has almost become ubiquitous within the hiring industry. However, brad argues that companies are potentially putting themselves at legal risk by using these systems because bias is sometimes unintentionally built into the algorithms.  And in fact, regulatory agencies have announced that they will be taking a hard look at these practices going forward.  But interestingly, Baker McKenzie recently sponsored a survey of C-suite leaders and few felt that there was a significant risk involved with their practices around AI in recruiting and HR. So obviously there is a disconnect in the marketplace. We unpack all of this and more in the podcast. And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Balancing life and other hobbies, I finally managed to get the Mustang back on the road at the end of 2006.  I did all the work myself except the engine machine shop work, mounting the tires and windshield.  All the work was self taught.  I rebuilt the engine and transmission. Replaced inner front fenders, torque boxes, floor pans, inner rockers, quarter panels, inner and outer rear inner fenders, trunk drops, and rear frame rails. Also did all the paint work.  Replaced entire interior and convertible top.  My wife and I enjoy taking it to car shows all over the east.  Drive it to work in good weather. On today’s episode, I talk about what I’ve been doing for the past two weeks, and I share the story about how I came up with my company name.   Mentioned in this episode Alex Sanchez linkedin.com/in/alex-sanchez-3935b1174, voiceactorwebsites.com  Brad Newman linkedin.com/in/upperlevel, www.upperlevelhosting.com  Tim Keenan linkedin.com/in/tim-keenan-15b3788, creativemediarecording.com   Source Connect https://source-elements.com/products/source-connect  The Pharmacist’s Voice Podcast has listeners in 37 US states and 21 countries. May has been a very busy month for me.   My new website launched Thursday, May 21.  Thank you Alex Sanchez and voiceactorwebsites.com.  Also, thank you Brad Newman at Upper Level Hosting for guiding me through the tech pieces that go into changing websites.  Everything looks great, and I’m really happy with how things turned out.  Thank you again Alex and Brad!  If you want to check out the new website, please visit www.thepharmacistsvoice.com. The last two weeks have been filled with plenty of activity.  I’m still adjusting to being able to focus on my voiceover business full-time.  My husband is doing a great job helping with the kids so I can audition and direct-market to potential clients. I really love what I’m doing with my voiceover business and the podcast.  I’ve met so many people because of both.  It’s been such a great experience.  My guests are amazing, and I love to hear how they use their voices.  Plus, their network of supporters has liked, commented on, or shared the podcast across several social media platforms.  I appreciate the engagement, and it’s fun to watch this podcast of mine touch lives.   Throughout the month, I’ve met and connected with a number of voice actors too.  One has even become a medical narration workout buddy.  Time zones are tricky, but the practice is helping me stay sharp and get better.   Every other week, I meet with my voice actor accountability buddies.  A hot topic that came up last week was Source Connect.  I’m giving more serious thought to getting connected.  Tim Keenan’s webinar helped.   My husband is updating his resume and LinkedIn profile.  He will be searching for a job soon. I came up with my company name 3 years ago before I knew about the voiceover industry.  Looking back on it, it was a small miracle.   Using my identity as a pharmacist in my business was important to me.  Having the word “Pharmacist” in my company title was important to me.   I knew I wanted to use my “voice” to do something.  I put the words “Pharmacist” and “Voice” together, and the name “The Pharmacist’s Voice” organically came about.   Using my voice is very important.  Having a voice is so very important.  My husband and I have a 17-year-old non-verbal son with autism.  We are his voice.  I know how important it is to have a voice, and I want to communicate important messages.    I can use my voice in the spoken word or in the written word.  My company name is versatile.  I absolutely love it, and it is very personal as well.  I feel very blessed and very thankful to have the company name The Pharmacist’s Voice.  I can combine my voice and my identity as a pharmacist to do work that I love.  My work allows me to support my husband from home and raise our children in the unique way they need to be raised. The next solo episode is June 12, 2020.

Her daddy Johnny Lee, who's also featured in this episode was a legendary honky-tonk hero and her mother Charlene Tilton, was the sexy siren who turned heads and broke hearts on Dallas, one of biggest television shows of all time. Subscribe and download on your favorite podcast platform: Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Tune In, Stitcher. In this episode, Cherish tells some great stories including the time her father gave her a famous Martin guitar, which she promptly painted with glitter nail polish. You'll hear Johnny Lee describe what it was like raising his little songwriter/poet and hear the pride in his voice as he talks about his daughter following him on stage and into this often uncertain profession. Cherish reveals that even though she had the backing of her famous dad, she's still suffered her share of set-backs in the music industry, but perseverance and drive along with a winning personality have kept her dreams alive. Cherish talks about how she made her latest album, Tequila Cowgirl for just 15-hundred bucks, a sum so low it doesn't seem possible by today's standards. But as she says, "where there's a will, there's a way" and Cherish is not the type who's gives up easily. This "can do" attitude serves her well as she carves out a new career in Nashville while raising her young son with her husband, Chase Christopher. Robert K. Oermann hosts this interesting look at an up-and-coming artist with the series producer Brad Newman by his side.
