In collection of stories that were told to him while growing up, Ernest Allen Flatt, Sr. shares insight into both sides of the Flatts that include his mother's family, the Griffins. Throughout the action-packed tales that begin in 1898 and continue through the present day, Flatt offers an entertaining glimpse into the two families' experiences as they moved from Tennessee to Kentucky, and then to Ohio and back to Tennessee again; married and gave birth to offspring; attempted to survive the challenges surrounding the Great Depression and two world wars; and dealt with killers. Flatt also shares background into his own life as he transformed into a professional musician, married twice, raised children, bought two motorcycles in the same day, retired, and battled health issues. Included are two family trees that can be utilized as a reference. Book copies are on display and available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Book Depository and other online resellers

Phil Circle talks with Chris Bell, a former union pipe fitter, now owner of Flatts and Sharpe Music, Chicago proper's second biggest music lesson provider. Sitting in the lobby of her Rogers Park store, they reflect on Chicago's past and present, how it relates to other American cities, and the massive changes in the world today. Chris shares her experiences growing up in the neighborhood and reflects on what's changed and why. Also in this conversation they talk about the future of one of the world's greatest orchestras, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As of this podcast, the CSO musicians were on strike for a number of reasons. Chris Bell gives her balanced appraisal of the situation and talks about her efforts to support local musicians by presenting free shows at her music store. Weeks later, the CSO won the strike. This show was recorded at Flatts and Sharpe Music in Rogers Park, Chicago, on April 18th, 2019. Phil Circle taught at Chris Bell's store until opening his own lesson facility in the neighborhood, with her full blessings. Phil Circle Music opened its doors in December of 2018, and 2019 marked 25 years that Phil Circle has been a music coach. In 2019, Expertise.com awarded Phil Circle Music the Top Music Schools in Chicago award, listing him among the Top 12 of 574 music schools and private lesson facilities surveyed. Here's a video from the Hey Coach playlist on his YouTube page. Phil still refers business to Flatts and Sharpe Music, as his niche is primarily adult professional and semi-pro musicians. Luke Bryan wants me to Play It Again, but Keith Urban dropped the CD Somewhere In My Car, Adam Brand would call us Freedom Rebels, but we are all speeding to see Dozzi after their text saying “I Need You Tonight” - I’m guessing it was auto correct! Also tunes from Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Miranda Lambert and Ben's interview with Rascall Flatts all on REAL Country this week.
Rascal Flatts has been entertaining fans now for over fifteen years, and they’ve accumulated tons of awards, number one hits, and platinum albums. It’s refreshing to see they are not taking their previous successes for granted. They are still doing everything they can possibly do to give back to their current generation of fans, while also appealing to a new generation. We were able to hook up with the guys to talk about the new “Rewind” album, which went on sale earlier this month. Here’s Kelly with more.
Savannah Maddison is determined to make a difference in the world. As a young teenager, she is working full time on a career in country music, but her heart is full of love for America’s soldiers. Initially inspired by her best friend, Savannah created a program designed to bring a little love from home to soldiers deployed to all corners of the world. “Savannah’s Soldiers” is closing in on one hundred-thousand letters sent to our military forces overseas. We caught up with Savannah to talk about that exciting program.
Rascal Flatts is one of country music's most popular groups ever, and in the last thirteen years, they've certainly been one of the most successful. We had a chance to preview new music from their upcoming album, including the new single "Rewind," plus we got the scoop on their plans for early this year, including their first radio tour since their "Praying For Daylight" days.
The Inspirational Country Music Awards are a breath of fresh air in a market that is crowded with hard-partying drinking kinds of songs...or what you typically hear on the radio. The ICM Awards take a different spin on things, honoring artists, songwriters, and industry people in Christian and Country music who are making a difference. Big winners from the evening included Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, and Scotty McCreery in the mainstraeam categories, and we had chance to catch up with many of the honorees before the big show. Here's Kelly Lynn out on the red carpet.
Sweetwater Rain is a new trio on Curb Records that I'm sure you'll be hearing more from very soon. Following the success of their debut single "Starshine," the guys have now been added to the fall leg of the Rascal Flatts' "Live and Loud" tour. We had a chance to catch up with Sweetwater Rain to talk about that upcoming tour and their second single "Pray For Me."
