Mike welcomes his brother Jizzy Jake Riley for a special Thanksgiving Thursday Stoutsgiving episode recorded in the taproom. They taste and rate six dark beers — including Bottle Logic's Jam the Radar (raspberry imperial stout), Chapman Brewing's nitro oatmeal stout, Pizza Port's Bacon & Eggs imperial coffee porter, Aerolodge's Voyager barrel-aged imperial stout, Great Notion's Barbarian peanut-butter cheesecake pastry stout, and Frogtown's Prince George bourbon-barrel vanilla porter — offering tasting notes, ABV info and personal ratings. The conversation ranges from favorite Thanksgiving foods and side-dish poll results to nostalgic holiday memories and traditions. Mike and Jizzy debate stout styles (barrel-aged vs. pastry vs. coffee), nitro vs. non-nitro, seasonal stouts vs. year-round pours, and play Stoutsgiving trivia and games with listeners. Key takeaways: Jam the Radar and Great Notion's Barbarian stand out as top pours, Chapman's nitro serves as a palate cleanser, and the hosts even blend all six beers into a surprise “stout gumbo.” The episode closes with gratitude, industry reflections, a preview of an upcoming reunion episode (150), and a reminder to support local breweries and follow @Wildrileysupply on Instagram.
How about a high-Q blowout from Other Ryan's garage, where the ongoing parade of attempts to get a junkyard manifold to align with a junkyard 5.9 (hey, $400 with a set of equal-lengths can't be all bad) turns into a great piece of show. From tales of how the usually dependable 5.9 lump could go from power to just POW, Freiburger's motorhomes and Péwé's Jeeps, professional drivers and drifters, and tanks buried all over Europe, to Nayr Zedlav and Nutsij Trof's thoughts on getting the dissimilar surfaces in an engine to mate up.. You'll probably learn something - sorry about that. In addition, there's the return of Pizza Port's coincidental Chronic Amber, some weird rock from "The Shining", frosty mugs, Hugh Mearns, Edgar Allen Poe and Ed Gorey.

Between so many interruptions - the politicking and the Chinese food, phone calls from friends and parts percolating in the garadtch - White Mark the Diversity Hire and Hostus Maximus Justin Fort were lucky to get through this one at all. What's in it? Skyrocketing values of old 911s and the cost of our buddy the Doc's new pistachio GT2; strange new clunks in the new Grenader; comfortable old clunks in a 300K 4Runner. Then it's all about the sauce: the Real Dill's Bloody Mary mix, Pizza Port's Chronic Amber Ale, Stone Brewing in Pt. Personally its one of the most iconic Pizza Port Brewing beers, it was a malty introduction to the flavorful world of San Diego Beers. Now, you don't have have to pop into one of the pubs to grab a pint as it's now in cans, Bacon and Eggs Imperial Stout! Honestly with the tweaking the team has been doing, this could be the best year EVER to try this beer.
Playing with hops is what Pizza Port does, so when they get the freedom to play with hops they go all out with their seasonal beers. Vibrant Views is one of their latest seasonals brewed by a notorious San Diego brewer (who will remain unnamed here) that as crafted an absolute masterpiece IPA perfect for an SD Fall.

It's Fresh Hop/Wet Hop Season! As local breweries are getting same day deliveries of harvest hops it's a wonderful time to be a hop-head! Offering more depth and complexity then just floral bitterness, these beers offer a more raw taste then pelletized hops. Slamarak Cold IPA is one of the first of the season to drop and it's named after a North County wave contest where they try and jam as many people as they can on one wave.
It's been a long time since the brewers from Pizza Port dropped in for a beer! "It was on my last shift cleaning bathrooms at the Pizza Port, just before I told the manager I was quitting, when I found the wallet in one of the stalls... The picture on the license was exotic. He wore a turban, had thick tortoiseshell eyeglasses, and sported a flat gold chain with an amulet. Some kind of Arab sheik with Mafia ties?" A hapless ex-real estate agent stumbles into an adventure that might be life-changing... if it's not life-ending. An excerpt from a new collection of novellas and stories.

Time for the podcast. Alright so on today's show, we sped through the god dang thing it felt like. Tony was drinking hoppy wheat beer, I was drinking hazy Pizza Port. It's crazy! Griff finally picks an AFL team and it's the worst one (typical) and all of his other teams suck really bad too! In the Discord segment there was some big nasty foot fetish talk so if you're a big Tarantino guy we got you covered! We also did the happiest HBNDSN of all time where everything was just kind of cool??? Finally there was game that left both guys totally confused as to what was going on at all times. It was a disaster but in the like, cool, funny, disaffected way. Alright enjoy I'll see ya later!!! Matt Cross Tap Takeover Episode Matt and I appreciate Jacque and Ryan Fields of Wild Fields Brewhouse because while they make and sell IPAs, they also make and sell so much more than that. Jacque and Ryan brought several beers over for us to taste, and Matt and I enjoyed every one of them. The Pine Mountain Monolith Brown Ale was my favorite — almost all of their beers are named after spots on the Central Coast. We discussed Jacque and Ryan's strong lineage in the beer industry, with Beachwood, Lost Abbey and Pizza Port among the breweries they've worked for. We also talked about how to start liking sour ales, Atascamazing, bottles versus cans, and the Fields's RV named Honey Buns.

In March of 1987 Gina and Vince Marsaglia, a pair of siblings in their 20′s, bought a struggling pizza place in the coastal town of Solana Beach, just north of San Diego. Early on, Vince took advantage of free space in the restaurant's storage area to dabble with home brewing. The hobby took off and at the urging of friends and fans, Vince and Gina decided to go into the brewpub business. Pizza Port offered its first craft-brewed beers to patrons in 1992 and quickly gained a reputation in San Diego's growing craft beer scene.

In this episode, we're cracking open Hotel Zebra by Brouwerij West and Pizza Port Brewing - an 8.2% West Coast Double IPA that is exactly what you would expect from a Pizza Port inspired beer. Bitter, dank and sticky, but with a nice tropical backbone from the bouquet of hops. Definitely a nice break from the IPAs we've been drinking lately, and LOVED the can sticker art on this one.
