Fake German heiress, Anna Sorokin conned her way into Manhattan society. Posing as Anna Delvey, a German heiress, she swindled banks, hotels, and friends out of more than $200,000 dollars. She forged checks to get money from banks and charmed people into paying for extravagant meals, and travel. Sorokin was convicted on a handful of grand larceny and theft of services charges. After serving her time, the 31-year-old released from prison, now, fighting being deported, but again Sorokin falls on her feet. First, she landed a deal with Netflix for the rights to her life story, then began selling her artwork and now, Sorokin says her home confinement and social media ban are “more restrictive” than jail. More women have come forward accusing a Denver cardiologist of rape. Stephen Matthews, 35, was first charged with drugging and raping a woman he met on the dating app "Hinge." Matthews was later charged again as the nine additional victims revealed similar stories. Matthews now faces 51 felony counts related to the alleged drugging and sexual assault of thirteen women. Three of the cases allege that Matthews drugged and subsequently raped the “helpless” victim. The remaining cases allege that Matthews drugged the victims. Matthews's attorney, Douglas Cohen, said his client is innocent, entering a not guilty plea in court. Matthews' trial is set for next Spring. It's been 15 months since the family of 21-year-old Allison Rice laid the college student to rest, and police are no closer to arresting her killer. Rice was found shot dead in her car, just three miles from campus. The LSU student was stopped at a railroad crossing for a train when witnesses say the killer or killers walked up to Rice's car and started shooting. Police say she may have been in the middle of turning around when the shots were fired. Police also say there's no sign anything was stolen from Rice's car. Matthew Perry wrote about his issues with addiction to alcohol and drugs. In his memoir, he said he began drinking at 14 and was an alcoholic by 18. Perry first went to rehab and completed a 28-day program at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation after a jet-ski accident led to an addiction to Vicodin. In his 2022 memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big, Terrible Thing," Perry claimed to have been to rehab 15 times, detoxed 65 times, and spent about $7 to $9 million trying to get sober. After years of addiction, Matthew Perry spent 5-months in the hospital after his colon burst from prolonged opioid abuse. Perry says he was in surgery for seven hours and in a coma for two weeks. Doctors told his family he had a 2% chance of survival. After leaving the hospital, Perry used a colostomy bag for months. Two years after his near-death experience, Matthew Perry goes to a Rehab facility in Switzerland. He wrote that he faked pain symptoms to get Oxycontin during COVID. He was also getting daily Ketamine infusions. While at the facility, Perry needed to have surgery and was given propofol. When he woke up 11 hours later, he found out his heart had stopped for 5 minutes and during the long CPR process 8 of his ribs were broken. The doctor then refused more meds. On October 28, Matthew Perry went to his country club to play a game of Pickleball with friends. Perry returned to his home after the game and was seen by his assistant, who was leaving the house to run errands. At 4 p.m., the assistant returned home and found Perry floating face down in the heated end of the pool. Paramedics pulled Perry out of the pool and pronounced him dead at the scene. The DailyMail reports the actor died from an overdose of the "party drug ketamine." Arelie Garcia is the youngest of the six children in her family. After high school, Garcia trains in Automotive Mechanics Technology at the Center for Employment Training and works at My Chevrolet in Salinas as a service advisor. Co-Worker Miguel Alvarez describes Arelie Garcia as the "Happy One" of the group. Garcia maintains a close relationship with her sisters and texts Veronica almost daily. On September 22, Arelie Garcia sends Veronica a message at 6am, a simple message of ‘Good morning, I love you." At 6:30am, Garcia is seen on surveillance video leaving her apartment heading for work. She didn't show up at all. Her sisters begin texting and calling their sister's phone, getting no response. Garcia's sister, Veronica, logs into Find My iPhone and is surprised to see Arelie Garcia's phone last pinged to a location in Big Sur, about an hour away from Salinas. A ruling by a Pennsylvania appellate court upholding the finding in Ellen Greenberg's death hasn't stopped her parents' search for the truth. The Philadelphia teacher was found dead in her apartment, stabbed more than 20 times. Some stabs were to the back and head, and somehow the death was ruled a suicide. It was initially listed as homicide. Why did the medical examiner change it? That is the million-dollar question. The parents do not believe Ellen committed suicide. Josh and Sandee Greenberg have struggled, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, to have the rule changed, and the appellate court ruling is just one more obstacle. In a 2-to-1 ruling, the Commonwealth Court found the Greenbergs lacked standing to bring their claim. This means that the parents can't raise a challenge, but if Ellen's parents can't, who can? In the same ruling, however, the court did raise questions about a faulty original investigation. It's a conundrum. If the investigation was not properly handled, how does that not change the cause of death? Two women go missing within six miles of each other in Winter Park, Colorado. Melissa Whitsitt moved from Tennessee to Colorado in May to start a job at Winter Park Resort, almost 70 miles outside Denver. Mom Cindy Whitsett says her daughter had two days off and was supposed to return to work on Tuesday, August 15th. Whitsitt didn't show up for her shift the police are called and a welfare check is complete. Whitsitt is not at her home. Police have confirmed that she got on a bus to Denver on Saturday around 10 a.m. She was wearing blue bell-bottom jeans, a blue tank top and/or a white sweatshirt. The Whitsitts say their daughter's phone pinged in Denver, but an unknown man was using it. Melissa Whitsitt's debit card has not been used since she went missing. Whitsitt doesn't have a car and hasn't contacted friends or family since the day she was last seen. Whisitt's parents say they have had to conduct their own investigation, as cops say they're outnumbered by missing people cases. Svetlana Ustimenko is an avid hiker living in Broward County, Florida, according to the Idaho Statesman. Family members say Ustimenko had been drawn to the peaceful Colorado mountains. After finding her rental car had not been returned by the due date and learning that Ustimenko was reported as missing from Florida, authorities launched an immediate search around the area where her vehicle was located on August 11. According to a news release from the Grand County Sheriff's Office, the Grand County Search and Rescue, Front Range Rescue Dogs, Rescue Dogs of the United States, Colorado Search and Rescue as well as drones and volunteers, began searching for Ustimenko. Six cadaver dogs joined the search efforts to no avail. The search for Ricky Griffis began two days after his last contact with his mother. When Alice Mabe texted her 46-year-old son, asking if he was coming home that night, he said "no." Two murders, weeks apart. Teen cheerleader Amie Hoffman vanished after leaving her part-time job. Two days later, her body is found floating in a retention tank at a local reservoir. Hoffman has been sex assaulted and stabbed repeatedly. Twelve days later 25-year-old Deirdre O'Brien, 25, bangs on a truck driver's door at a desolate rest stop pleading for help. She also has been stabbed. Before O'Brien dies, she describes her attacker as tall and slender with bushy hair and some facial hair. No arrest is immediately made, but the next year, 1983, a break in the case surfaces. James Koedatich calls police, describing his escape from an attacker, who stabbed him. As emergency responders take Koedatich out on a stretcher, a responding officer sees a car that matches descriptions of a vehicle spotted at the mall the night of Hoffman's disappearance and at the rest stop where O'Brien is attacked. The next day, Koedatich is named a suspect in the cases. Willard Noble Chaiden Miller and Jeremy Everett Goodale, both 16, are accused of killing 66-year-old Nohema Graber. The boys were students at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, where Graber had been teaching Spanish since 2012. Now Jeremy Goodale has agreed to testify against Willard Miller. Goodale and Miller are each charged with first-degree murder in the November 2021 death of 66-year-old Nohema Graber. Police found Graber's remains November 3, at the Chautauqua Park in Fairfield. A tipster led investigators to the teens. Police say social media evidence ties both suspects to Graber's death. According to a criminal complaint, in a social media exchange, the teens appeared to know specific details regarding Graber's death, included how the teacher died, and the motive. Cell phone video again was the focus of testimony today in Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. Prosecutors played a video reportedly taken by Murdaugh's 22-year-old son Paul just minutes before he and his mother, Maggie, were killed. In the video that is just under a minute long, three voices can be heard, Maggie Murdaugh and Paul, and one other. Prosecutors believe the third voice is Alex Murdaugh. Paul Murdaugh was trying to take a video of one of the dogs he was caring for. The dog's tail had a condition and Paul had been texting with a friend. The timestamp on the video is 8:44 p.m., June 7, 2021. Five words are a major focus at Alex Murdaugh's murder trial. During a recorded conversation with investigators three days after the killings, the police body cam footage shows Murdaugh saying, “It's just so bad. I did him so bad." He's such a good boy, too.” Many are claiming this is a possible slip-up, a statement of guilt in the death of his son. Defense attorneys however pushed a SLED agent to say that it was possible that Murdaugh said "they" not "I," but the agent did not waver from his original assessment. Prosecutors went through the bullet evidence in detail looking at each casing, giving its caliber and recovery location. Also discussed in court today were phone records of the victims and how they were tied to the timelines of their deaths. Dramatic opening statements from both the prosecution and defense in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial as both attorneys laid out different versions of the same story. Prosecutors say forensics will prove Murdaugh, 54, killed his wife and son. Defense attorney Dick Harpootlian says however that there is no forensic evidence to tie Murdoch to the murders. Harpootlian suggested that the crime may have been the work of two people because of two different weapons. The rifle that killed Maggie Murdaugh has not been found. Murdaugh could be seen visually emotional as his attorney laid out in graphic detail the injuries Maggie and Paul Murdaugh suffered. Maggie Murdaugh, defense attorney Dick Harpootlian said, died running for her life, and Paul Murdaugh's brain was blown out of his skull. The man accused of kidnapping and killing 18-year-old Naomi Irion will stand trial. Troy Drive has been found competent to face charges. Driver is accused of abducting Irion from a Walmart parking lot. Police find the body of missing teen Naomi Irion after receiving a tip that leds them to her gravesite. 18-year-old Naomi Irion was last seen on security footage, sitting in her vehicle while waiting for the shuttle she takes to work at Panasonic in the Reno-Sparks area. The footage also shows a man walking from the direction of a homeless camp and lurking among the parked vehicles. Naomi's brother, Casey Valley, says that security footage seemed to show the suspect saying or doing something that made Naomi move from the driver's seat to the passenger seat. Irion was in the passenger's seat as the man drove away. Investigators later found Naomi's blue 1992 Mercury Sable at the Fernley industrial park. An autopsy revealed Irion was shot multiple times. The suspected vehicle was a dark-colored 2005 to 2009 Chevrolet Equinox. Authorities say there should be damage to the front passenger mirror, a side view front passenger mirror and passenger headlight. Phillips just turned 13th the day before he was hit. New interrogation videos show Keith Papini's shock at finding out his wife's kidnapping was actually a hoax. Keith Papini described himself to investigators as "the idiot husband that stayed around the whole time." The 39-year-old mom was reported missing on November 2, and told investigators when she was found 22 days later that a pair of Hispanic women kidnapped her at gunpoint. Papini said her kidnappers abused her and then shoved her out of a car. Papini was emaciated, her hair was cut shorter, and she had cuts and bruises all over her body, but prosecutors said she caused the injuries herself. The case was broken in 2020 when DNA led investigators to Papini's ex, who told them she had been with him the entire time. Federal prosecutors charged Papini with 34 counts of mail fraud and one count of making false statements. Papini accepted a plea deal, but didn't explain why she created an elaborate kidnapping hoax, although she apologized for her actions. Since her arrest, Papini's husband has started divorce proceedings, Sherri Papini soon begins her jail sentence. In April 2020, Katie and John Palmer, walking in their Denison, TX neighborhood are struck from behind by an F-250. The couple is knocked about 75 feet. John Palmer, who suffers a broken back, crawls over to his wife, watching her take her last breath. The driver was later identified as Cory Foster, one of the Palmer's neighbors. Foster tells cops that fog and sun glare prevent him from seeing the couple. Cops push for a breathalyzer test and Foster blows a .06 BAC, but no blood test was conducted. House Bill 558 passed after Katie Palmer's death. This bill ensures that drivers are blood tested when involved in any accident that causes serious bodily harm or kills a pedestrian. The legal limit in Texas, is .08 BAC. After questioning, a trooper takes Foster home. A grand jury has twice declined to charge Cory Foster. The Palmer family has a civil suit pending against Cory Foster. A jury trial is set for October 17th.
