Sosnoff / Ratigan - Truth or Skepticism from tastytrade

The U.S. is the financial epicenter of the world. A big reason for that is the political role we have historically held. The current administration seems willing to abdicate our leadership role in the world in order to focus more internally. But if that happens, what does it mean for financial markets?

What is the reality of political life and how does it affect our MPs? Can they be the real human beings that they are? In this podcast, TaSC members Robbie Curtis and Mick Cooper talk to Labour MP Alex Sobel, as he discusses his journey from environmental and anti-fascist activism to representing an ‘unwinnable' Labour constituency. With a much-appreciated openness, Alex sheds light on the personal and professional challenges of political life, providing a candid look at some of the mental health challenges faced by politicians in 2025. Alex talks about the stress and isolation that can come with the role, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being amidst the relentless demands of public service. There are systemic challenges that can threaten the capacity for parliament to represent all human beings. Alex goes on to discuss parliamentary issues like lack of designated seating, irregular hours, and frequent travel that can create a non-family-friendly environment, especially for those with young children or separated families. Alex also discusses the prevalence of undiagnosed neurodiversity among MPs and the limited mental health support available. Alex advocates for more inclusive practices that accommodate the diverse needs of politicians, highlighting the importance of effective representation.Alex underscores Leeds' significant contributions to arts and culture; and shares insights into being a Jewish MP, addressing antisemitism within political spaces and the distinction between Jewish identity and Israeli government policies. We round off the episode by tackling the broader implications of misinformation in today's digital age, stressing the crucial role of truth in preserving democratic values. This episode invites listeners to explore the multifaceted world of politics and the pressing challenges today's politicians face. This Podcast is sponsored by Onlinevents

Produced by KSQD 90.7, 895. & 89.7FM “Be Bold America!” Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 5:00pm (PT)  “When somebody has taken the time to draw up a playbook, they are going to use it.” - Tim Walz, 2024 DNC Vice-Presidential Acceptance Speech (re: Project 2025) Call it what you want. The Republican Party is nakedly zealous about turning America from a democratic republic into a kingdom and the right-wing billionaires and their corporations are doing everything they can to make it happen … led by The Heritage Foundation, that also flew the American flag upside down after the January 6 insurrection just as did Justice Alito's wife. Everyone must realize that the Project 2025 scheme to dismantle the American government is for any future Republican president. It might be beaten back this upcoming presidential election but these people, who are fighting for a dictatorship, will not go away. The right wing is not hiding it. They say it out loud and have proudly written their manifesto; their painstakingly detailed, 922-page, step-by step instruction manual titled, “The Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise - Project 2025.”  This interview with Professor John Roth, cohosted by former KGO radio talk show host, John Rothmann, will peel back its pages with an emphasis on religion, health and education. Yes, this is a detailed plot for a coup.   Interview Guest: John Roth, PhD, is the Edward J. Sexton professor emeritus of philosophy at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. Dr. Roth was named the 1988 U. S. National Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Dr. Roth's expertise in Holocaust and genocide studies, as well as in philosophy, ethics, American studies, and religious studies, has been advanced by postdoctoral appointments as a Graves Fellow in the Humanities, a Fulbright Lecturer in American Studies at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and a fellow of the national Humanities Institute, Yale University. In addition to lecturing widely throughout the United States and around the world, Dr. Roth has authored, coauthored, or edited more than fifty books, and he has published hundreds of articles and reviews.  Dr. Roth graduated from Yale University with a Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees. Guest CoHost: John F. Rothmann is a renowned radio talk show host, formerly with KGO radio, and he is a popular lecturer and political and foreign policy consultant. John has also been involved in a broad variety of political campaigns on the national, state and local levels and Richard Norton Smith called John "a scholar of modern Republicanism.” John is the co-author of two highly acclaimed books and has been on the faculty of the Fromm Institute at the University of San Francisco since 2004.    John's personal library of 15,000 volumes is widely recognized as one of the finest libraries of American political history and biography in the United States. Scholars, graduate students and authors in the process of research frequently access his extensive collection. Currently, John hosts his own highly successful podcast titled, “Around the Political World with John Rothmann.” John lives in San Francisco with his wife Ellen and their two sons, Samuel and Joel.

Richard Sennett is a sociologist and the Centennial Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics, whose work has given particular focus to areas such as how we co-exist in urban spaces and our places of employment. But his new book looks at the role of performance in society. The Performer explores how the spectacle of the arts can be mirrored in roles found elsewhere in life, such as in politics and wider everyday business, where we're often being encouraged to try and make ourselves the main attraction. Joining Sennett in conversation for this episode is someone who is no stranger to the merits of a good performance, Philip Colins. He was chief speechwriter for Tony Blair and has been an influential writer and columnist at publications ranging from The Times to Prospect magazine and The Evening Standard. Collins also heads up Writing Company, The Draft. We are back... back in the New York groove... in Texas and Utah...nevermind.We talk about the concept of "splitting the vote," and what is the concept of the primary. We educate on what the addition of Pence and Chris Christie to the republican pool actually means. We talk about Robert F Kennedy linking pharma drugs and opiates to the border, much like what we saw in the last season of Ozark. Is this life imitating art?We talk about the success of the conservative boycotts and then get into Bud Light giving money to Desantis. We also clarify the Soros and Bush family connections to Desantis. We mention our one week YT ban for something from 6 months ago and how insane this is based on other content. Lastly we talk about the LIV golf tour merger with the PGA.#truthwillsetyoufree #freespeech #conservatism #illegals #borderissues #awakenotwoke #news #msm Our gear is at AwakeNotWokeStore.com and use AWAKE for 15% off.
