The Classics IV featuring Dennis Yost a enjoyed two more top-10 hits, "Stormy" (1968, Hot 100 No. 5) and "Traces" (1969, Hot 100 No. 2, Easy Listening No. 2), the latter of which Emory Gordy also co-wrote. Cobb and Buie borrowed heavily from 1936's "Every Day with Jesus" by Robert C. and Wendell P. Loveless to pen the top 20 follow-up "Every Day With You Girl" (1969, Hot 100 No. 19, Easy Listening No. 12). "Spooky," "Stormy," and "Traces" each sold more than one million units, and all were awarded gold discs by the R.I.A.A. Those three hits plus "Every Day With You Girl" also appeared in the 1977 film The Chicken Chronicles. In 1970, Cobb, Buie and Daughtry formed what would become Atlanta Rhythm Section with Candymen drummer Robert Nix. However, the former two remained active as writers and producers for the band.[5] After recovering from a car accident suffered in May 1969, Eaton left the band and later on became an electronics expert, working for Unisys. 1970–1975: Later years With Yost as the remaining original member, the group changed its name again to Dennis Yost and the Classics IV. After Imperial was absorbed into United Artists Records, the group signed with MGM South. In 1971 after working for other Lowery artists Tommy Roe and the Swingin' Medallions, Michael Huey became the drummer. During this period Huey also became the staff drummer for Lowery Studios and later moved to Los Angeles. The band's subsequent releases were less successful, despite the final top 40 hit, "What Am I Crying For?" which peaked at No. 39 in 1972. By this time, the partnership between Cochran and Buie ended. After the release of "My First Day Without Her" in 1975, Yost disbanded the group and returned to Florida. 1975–2001: After Classics IV In 1977, Yost returned to performing on the Holiday Inn circuit, this time simply under his own name or "The Classic One." (He lost the rights to the Classics IV name.) The same year, Eaton got a job on Jacksonville's computer system in 1977 and later on worked for the City Hall. He is currently a professor at Florida Community College. During the mid 70s to early 80s, the Atlanta Rhythm Section scored a number of Top 40 hits, notably "Doraville", "So in to You", "Imaginary Lover", "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight", "Do It or Die", and their rendition of "Spooky". During the 1990s, Yost used many backup bands including Steve "Stevie G" Guettler (guitar, vocals), Jeff "JT" Strickler (bass guitar, vocals), Steve Farrell (guitar, vocals), Mike Wilson (keyboards, vocals), and Wes Armstrong (drums, vocals) of the Atlanta-based group The Rockerz. He also used Nashville-based Steve Jarrell and The Sons of the Beach Band, as well as the Hitts out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Ed Hutchison (guitar, backing vocals), Ramon Gonzalez (keyboards, backing vocals), Andy Crosswell (drums), and David Voss. Other incarnations included Toledo musicians Danny Joe Greenburg on Bass, and Sid Siddall on drums. Nashville bassist Louie Meek also did a stint with the band. In 1993, Classics IV was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. 2001–2006: Reformation In 2001, Yost underwent successful throat surgery for a condition that had severely impaired his singing voice. Later on, he started touring under the Classics IV name, which he gained the rights to. 2006–2008: Death of Yost On July 11, 2006, Yost fell down a flight of stairs and suffered serious brain trauma. To assist Yost and his wife with their medical bills, a benefit concert was held on March 25, 2007, at Rhino's Live in Cincinnati, Ohio. The concert did not significantly benefit Yost or his wife financially as hoped, as expenses far exceeded the money raised, leaving the event in the red. After the accident, Tom Garrett was chosen by Yost to replace him as lead singer. The plan was for Yost to make a few yearly "special appearances", and gradually have Garrett take over as the leader of the band. However, Yost was able to perform with them for only one appearance in 2008. Yost died at age of 65 from respiratory failure on December 7, 2008, the 40th anniversary of the entrance of "Stormy" into the Hot 100's top 10. 2008-present: Post-Yost The current line-up of Classics IV consists of Tom Garrett as lead vocalist, Kevin Lloyd on bass, James Yoder on keyboards, Paul Weddle on saxophone, John Kerner on guitar, and Shawn White on drums. The group regularly tours to this day.

Wizards Of Ecom (En Español)

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 17, 2022 29:41

Welcome to the Multi-FAMILY zone podcast, where business meets family. The hosts of the show, Julia and Gino Barbaro, have been married for over twenty years, and have six children.    Julia homeschools the children, and recently became a marriage and life coach to help couples become better communicators and help enrich their lives.  The couple is constantly asked about how they balance their entrepreneurial and real estate journey while raising their kids. The Multi-FAMILY zone was created to address these questions, along with a host of questions from the Jake and Gino community.    Julia and Gino are joined by Ray and Christy. They will talk about how their store and how they balance working together and being married.   Ramon Gonzalez has been in the Real Estate field since 2004.  Prior to that, he was recruited to GE for their Financial Management Program.  After 3 years, he realized that the corporate world wasn’t for him.  He was searching for Freedom, Financial Abundance and a higher Purpose.   Christy Risco was a 4th grade teacher for 5 years, before realizing that although she has a passion for teaching, growing and giving - the Public-School System was not the place for her to shine bright.   After dating for 3 years, in 2011 – Ramon and Christy attended a Tony Robbins seminar called Date with Destiny.  During the 6 intense days, they realized that they were ready for a big, bold step in their lives! They moved in together while simultaneously starting a new Real Estate joint venture– Flipping REO properties in the Miami market.   Within 2 years of working and living together, they were both at their rope’s end.  The relationship was practically nonexistent and their finances did not reflect the amount of hours and energy they were putting into their company.   After working with several life coaches and continuing on in their self-discovery journey, they began to make several adjustments to their current life situation- including getting an office and taking several personality tests to hone in on what they were really good at and what they needed help with.    Once they drew that line between personal and business space, things started to shift.  Next, they hired a Business Consultant, who advised them to start looking for staff, even though it was scary for both of them to “give up” control in the business.  This led to growth and a new direction for the company.  Within 2 years, with a Property Manager and an Acquisitions Rep on payroll, they were able to grow their business to 7 figures and acquire over 100 units of rental properties.    In 2016, the couple had a daughter, Valentina, and again this started to shift the direction of their lives and business.  They decided to sell off most of their portfolio and eventually close the office to enjoy more freedom and time with their toddler.    They are currently in the Private Lending space and take pride in having amazing relationships with all of their borrowers, who they consider family. They each are part of Mastermind Groups and run their own Mastermind Experiences in Miami. They believe in growing, networking, inspiring & giving.   Within this transition, many of their colleagues and friends started getting intrigued by their success both at home and in business.  After much brainstorming, they realized that all of their success has come from working together to make things happen, no matter how difficult things seemed to get.  Through this personal reflection – Both on Board was born.  Both Ramon and Christy are passionate about helping and inspiring couples to work and play together in a way that serves each other, the business and the relationship as a whole!  “Helping Entrepreneurial Couples Thrive” is what they are about and helping them create IMPACT in the world!

Transitioning from wholesale to private label requires a new set of skills and considerations. Here to discuss his transition to private label is Ramon Gonzalez, a member of the Wizards of Amazon. Ramon started his sales journey as a rep selling distillation equipment for Captain Morgan rum. Due to the transient nature of the product, however, he decided to move into a more stable arena and found wholesales and wholesales online. Ramon has been dominating in wholesales for several years but recently had an experience that had him taking a second look at private label. As he was putting together a bundle for a wholesale product, one of his suppliers ran out of the product. Rather than waiting for over a month for the new supply to come in, he took a chance and sourced the product directly from China. He saved a considerable amount of money on each bundle and subsequently made significantly more than he was projected to initially.  Instead of diving directly into private label, Ramon has taken the time to build slowly. He’s looking to divert some of his wholesale profits and resources into private label and build it into his main source of income over time. His goal is to reduce the number of SKUs he has to manage without reducing his income.  Ramon is a relentless business owner who has taken the time to understand the changing operational and knowledge requirements needed for transitioning his business. Don’t miss out on the chance to learn from Ramon’s experience in both wholesale and the process of transitioning to private label.    In This Episode: [00:23] Welcome to the show Ramon Gonzalez, here to discuss going private label. It's been known that successful people start their day very early in the morning - as early as 4AM. This habit isn't for everyone, and today's episode will explain who should embrace the practice, and why some people shouldn't even try waking up that early. Starting your day in the early hours enables you to play on offense and prepare your mind to respond to challenges with alertness and composure. You're less reactive to unexpected demands, overwhelming inboxes, and making irrational decisions. This episode features my friend and former co-worker, Ramon Gonzalez, who made the decision to join the successful elite by starting his day at 4:00 AM. He'll explain his step-by-step process of training his body to wake up before the sunrise, and explains the purpose behind this activity. This is Ramon (Ray) Gonzalez's third appearance on the show! Alex and Ray go way back and this week's episode focuses on why mindset, surrounding yourself with amazing people, and holding yourself to a higher standard are so, so important for you, your family, and your business. Be sure to check back on the earlier episodes with Ray (links in the show notes). Key Takeaways: Are your dreams for sale? When things get hard, instead of giving up, you gotta lean in! Hold yourself to your standards. Get people to call you out. You're never going to get more than whatever you think you're worth. Why does Ray love attending masterminds? By hanging out with amazing people, they help catch you and keep you to a higher standard. If people are not enhancing your life, why are you wasting your most valuable commodity (your time) on them? How do you turn an acquaintance into a true friend? Remember, relationships are built over time. People can tell if you're being fake or if you're being sincere and genuine. What kinds of benefits can you get from attending a high-level mastermind? When we pay — that's when we pay attention. You have to do your own pushups. No one else is going to do it for you. Make sure you're clear on what you want, not on what you think you want because you see other people's success. Ray is hosting a mastermind! Who is this event for? The growth process never stops. While we're breathing, we are growing.   Mentioned in This Episode: I would greatly appreciate an iTunes Review :-) Flip Empire on iTunes Email Alex: Alex@FlipEmpire.com Episode 54: Timing is Everything in Real Estate! He's going to walk through his journey, he's going to walk through how he's gone through and really modeled the market cycles. You're going to see the clear path from the time that he started in real estate back in 2004 or five, on what he did during that phase. Then, what he did in seven and eight. He took two years off and then what he did the next cycle and then what he's doing right now and what you guys should start to look at too. There are way too many real estate entrepreneurs that are in this current market cycle that are doing the wrong thing. They're either going to make you broke or you're missing the massive opportunity that there is right now to build wealth. A lot of people are active and doing bunches of things but they're doing the things that are not going to position them to build wealth. They're about six, 10, 12, 14 months behind the market cycle, are you one of those people? Also, you're going to hear his inspiring journey. This episode does have some bad language in it! What is Ramon currently doing to generate leads? Everybody's got cash. What's important is whether you can find a deal or not. Investors are used to paying, but you want to create a little frenzy among everyone, to get a quicker sale. Ramon shares an example of what a typical deal looks like for him. Anyone who tells you they haven't lost money on deals is lying! Everyone has lost money. Alex and Ramon Gonzalez go way back, and have been long-time friends. Alex offers a disclaimer that because of their long-lasting friendship, this episode has some offensive language in it that some might not approve of. Ramon has a lot of wisdom to share on today's podcast episode, but his interview did run a little long. Alex has split up this interview up in a two part-series, so stay tuned next week for the final half of the episode!   Key Takeaways: Alex warns that this podcast episode has some offensive language. This show ran slightly over an hour, so Alex has broken it up in two parts. How did Alex and Ramon meet? The first deal Alex and Ramon made together was just a near-disaster. The industry has changed! Set realistic expectations because you will have to hustle HARD to get to where you want to go. How is Ramon separating himself from the competition? Right now the market in Miami is turning into a buyer's market. Price is important, but motivation is more important when it comes to closing that deal. Why does the seller want to sell? Seasons happen, which means you can't ignore what the market is telling you!
