We've talked about 80s winners. We've talked about 80s losers. Now, it's time to talk about the "just okay" of the 80s. Please join me as I discuss some 80s film and TV actors that were jack of all trades, bur masters of none. Some, like Robert Hays and Kristy McNichol are no brainers, while my man, Don Johnson, is a hot take and will likely piss some of you off. Regardless, it's time to kick back and allow me to wax poetic about more 80s actors.
The Drum of Dumb has spoken, and we discussed one of the most quoted films of all time. Is it so clever that its dumb? You be the judge! Content Warning: we discuss outdated themes in the film that would not be acceptable by today's standards. Old Tomato Face and Mr. Monopoly co-host Bad For Me. If you have a favorite dumb film, let us know at hourofthunder@gmail.com and it could be entered into a future Drum of Dumb. October will be all Simpsons Tree House of Horror episodes, starting with 5 (Season 6).
Noel catches up with David Leisure. The actor appeared in the Airplane! movies and was the roommate of Robert Hays. David played Charley in The Golden Girls spinoff, Empty Nest. David is perhaps best known for portraying pitchman Joe Isuzu.
Jason and Lisa are back (again) with the sub genre of anthology films! Jason's pick is the 1986 Stephen King film Cat's Eye featuring Drew Barrymore, James Woods, and Robert Hays. Lisa's pick is a 2022 somewhat Shudder original featuring Pedro from "Napoleon Dynamite" and Jonah Ray.

The Uncanny is a 1977 British-Canadian anthology horror film directed by Denis Héroux, written by Michel Parry, and starring Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasence, Ray Milland, Joan Greenwood, Donald Pilon, Samantha Eggar, and John Vernon. Although it is similar to the horror anthologies released by Amicus Productions and could be mistaken as one, it was actually distributed by The Rank Organisation. However, the co-producer was Milton Subotsky of Amicus. Cat's Eye (also known as Stephen King's Cat's Eye) is a 1985 American anthology horror thriller film directed by Lewis Teague and written by Stephen King. It comprises three stories, "Quitters, Inc.", "The Ledge", and "General". The first two are adaptations of short stories in King's 1978 Night Shift collection, and the third is unique to the film. The three stories are connected only by the presence of a traveling cat, which plays an incidental role in the first two and is a major character of the third. Its cast includes Drew Barrymore, James Woods, Alan King, Robert Hays and Candy Clark. In 1980, we were flying high with the directorial debut of the trio known as ZAZ when their careers took off with the hit Airplane!. This silly slapstick flick stars Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty alongside the comedic debut of Leslie Nielson as we watch a relationship explode amidst bad fish and faulty autopilots. This movie made a silly amount of money, turning its $3.5 million budget into a $175 million payday and has been the most quoted movie since 1980, source missing. But does it hold up? Listen in as Jon, Colin, and Brent discuss unloading in the white zone and the first time we saw a grown man naked as we try to see why this flick took off and if it landed safely or crashed and burned.
Final comments on Robert Hays!
Really good, inside stuff regarding "Airplane" from Robert Hays!
New book "Shirley, you can't be serious"!!"
This year's Shat The Movies Spooktacular brings you three movies in one: It's the 1985 horror anthology "Cat's Eye." What do all the stories have in common? A cat, Drew Barrymore and a heavy dependence on Stephen King's name recognition. In this episode, Gene questions why anyone would own a cat. Big D makes the case for rabbits being the ultimate pets, and both hosts admit to using racist terms they didn't know were racist. The Shat Crew also debate the value of aversion therapy, speculate that Robert Hays has petite feet and consider whether all horror movies should at least be Rated R. Was that tiny troll a puppet or a dude in a suit? Should you always believe kids? Does Scotland use miles or kilometers? We answer these questions and more while playing Stephen King Bingo. A few weeks ago, Disney's 'Homeward Bound' celebrated its 30th Anniversary at The El Capitan Theater in Hollywood! This is a hugely nostalgic film for so many of us and I was honored to be asked by one of the film's stars, Benj Thall, to moderate the cast and crew panel before the screening! Benj is a fantastic friend and the film is just as entertaining today as I'm sure you remember it being! Joining Benj and I onstage were his on-screen family of Robert Hays, Veronica Lauren Sawyer and Kevin Chavalier. Director Duwayne Dunham and producer Jeffrey Chernov had some amazing stories to share about putting the film together. And of course, where would this movie even be without the film's animal trainer Joe Camp, joined on the panel by Tammy Maples. Whether or not you've never seen Homeward Bound or you've seen it a million times, I think you'll really enjoy these stories from the people who helped bring it to life! Regarded as one of the funniest comedy movies of all time, it's the kind of movie not made any more. Comedy from shot to shot, scene to scene. Flying High - known as Airplane around the world, stars Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Liam Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves and even Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Like a sketch show with a plot this movie is a parody of another presumably serious movie but done with the intent to make you laugh, and laugh you will. Stephen knows it back to front, Trev's seen plenty of clips. So Fire up the Fetch and sit back watch it on your Hisense TV again.

Open up a pack of Bing Bongs with the Cannon Bros (Frank and Geoff) as they discuss Peter Weller and Robert Hays just trying their best in this mess of a movie. Going through the complicated production history, the complicated politics of this movie, the complicated abundance of "soft jokes" and the real complicatedness of just WANTING to get on board but thinking..."Why is Robert Hays swearing SO MUCH?". Look, it's a complicated movie and if you're unsure, "lick your finger and touch the sucker". And who knows, maybe the coin at the end will move you like no other movie in cinematic history.
