EP. 217 - In this episode, I sat down with Caroline Alan, the CEO and co-founder of BEAM Minerals, after trying her products and feeling compelled to learn more. She broke down exactly how these plant-based mineral complexes work in the body, and I asked her everything I wanted to know about absorption, detox, and rebuilding from the inside out. This conversation is packed with actionable insights, especially if you're curious about how mineral imbalances might be holding you back. James Swanwick is an Australian-American entrepreneur who helps high performers and casual drinkers reduce or quit alcohol without feeling deprived. He is a former SportsCenter anchor on ESPN and the creator and founder of Project 90, a neuroscience-based process scientifically proven to reduce drinking by 98%. He’s also an investor, speaker, and author of the book, CLEAR: The Only Neuroscience-Based Approach for High Achievers to Finally Break Free From Alcohol Without Willpower, Rehab or AA. I push back on some of James’ views, especially around moderation. We get into the nuances of drinking, discussing hormesis, genetics, culture, and whether small amounts of alcohol can play a role in a well-rounded, intentional lifestyle. It’s a respectful, spirited conversation that doesn’t aim to tell you what to do—but gives you the clarity and information to make the best decision for your own health and goals. Why do we keep eating foods we know are bad for us? In this powerful episode, #245 of the Fit Father Project Podcast, Dr. Anthony Balduzzi sits down with Head Trainer Ben Sterling to unpack this deeply human struggle — and share the science and strategies behind breaking food addiction for good.Ben opens up about his personal journey from pizza-fueled college nights to becoming a model of discipline and health. Together they explore why willpower alone isn't enough, and how understanding brain chemistry — specifically dopamine loops, habit cues, and emotional triggers — is the key to reclaiming control. The conversation blends cutting-edge neuroscience with hard-earned wisdom, offering listeners a toolkit to stop compulsive eating and feed the “good wolf” instead. You'll learn how small, daily decisions either reinforce or break addictive patterns, why delayed gratification is a key to long-term success, and how food cravings are often just symptoms of deeper emotional needs. We discussed the importance of understanding bioindividuality through the epigenome and individual life history.     The conversation reframed longevity as living well and with purpose, advocating for engagement with individual needs.  It seems that as we no longer need to discuss the symptoms of menopause, we move on to wanting to live our lives better, happier and healthier.  Longevity is that flex!  You can find Andrea Nakayama on her website here.  You can also find Andrea on IG. Minerals are the unsung heroes of cellular health, fueling critical processes that keep us feeling vibrant and resilient. Unfortunately, modern diets often lack the essential trace minerals we need for optimal function, leaving us feeling fatigued, inflamed, and out of balance. Beam Minerals, powered by fulvic and humic acids, offer a natural solution to replenish these vital nutrients and support whole-body health. At The WHOLESTIC Method with Debbie Potts, we combine Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) principles with Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN) testing to go beyond symptoms and uncover the root causes of health imbalances. By integrating personalized insights with the power of Beam Minerals, we help clients transform their health from the inside out. The Role of Fulvic and Humic Minerals in Cellular Health Beam Minerals are rich in fulvic and humic acids, which offer profound benefits for cellular health, energy production, and longevity: Boost Cellular Energy: Fulvic minerals enhance mitochondrial function, delivering essential cofactors like magnesium and zinc to optimize ATP (energy) production. This helps you feel more energetic and ready to tackle your day. Support Detoxification: Humic minerals bind to toxins, heavy metals, and environmental pollutants, aiding liver enzymes and enhancing the body's natural detoxification pathways. Enhance Nutrient Absorption: Fulvic acids act as natural chelators, binding to nutrients and improving their absorption into cells, ensuring your body gets the maximum benefit from your diet and supplements. Reduce Oxidative Stress: Both fulvic and humic acids are powerful antioxidants that protect cells from free radical damage, slowing the aging process and promoting DNA integrity. Improve Adrenal and Nervous System Health: Balanced minerals support adrenal function, reduce symptoms of fatigue, and promote a calm, focused mind. Strengthen Bones and Muscles: Minerals play a crucial role in maintaining muscle contraction, bone density, and overall skeletal health, keeping you active and strong as you age. Why Beam Minerals Are a Game-Changer Beam Minerals go beyond simple supplementation—they address the foundational needs of your body: Cellular Resilience: Fulvic and humic acids strengthen cell membranes, improve electrical conductivity, and facilitate proper cellular communication. Approximately 43% of Americans report experiencing fatigue regularly. That's almost half of the population! Constant fatigue is debilitating. It negatively impacts your relationships, work and overall well being.  If you struggle with constant fatigue, I am going to explain the cause, and most importantly the easy steps for you to have natural energy throughout the entire day.  Let's first start with the cause of fatigue. The only reason why you are tired is because of mitochondrial dysfunction. The mitochondria are way more than mindless energy factories, they have an intelligence to them. The word “mitochondria” derives from the Greek terms “mitos” and “khondrion.” They mean “thread” and “little granule” and together refer to the shape of the organelle as grain-like. Mitochondria's biggest job for our bodies is via oxidative phosphorylation where a series of chemical reactions use a coenzyme called NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) to extract energy from food. Once loaded up with energy, NAD reacts with proteins in the inner membrane to drive the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), and ATP is the rockstar energy that powers our bodies. The top 5 ways to improve mitochondrial health to have MORE energy! Tip 1: Movement Tip 2: Ketosis Tip 3: Fasting Tip 4: Two specific antioxidants and copper, magnesium, vitamin a rich foods Tip 5: How you feel drives changes in your mitochondria
