Chris Corinthian's framework for minimizing student loan debt involves using tools like the Common App, College Board Scholarship Search, Scholly, and Google to discover scholarships tailored to one's interests and deadlines. He suggests students take advantage of local resources, such as alumni associations, to find scholarships that are often less competitive for local applicants. Chris also emphasizes the importance of continuously applying for scholarships throughout college, not just in high school, to maintain financial support and minimize the need for loans.

On this episode, I read one of my articles from 2021 titled, "Reflective Reasoning and Philosophy" in Philosophy Compass. Both philosophers and cognitive scientists seem to think that philosophical thinking could depend on whether we reason intuitively or reflectively. In this paper, I review the claims, scientific methods, evidence, and what we may need to do to improve our understanding of reflection's role in philosophical thinking. Christopher Gray – Founder and CEO – Scholly Christopher Gray earned more than $1.3 million in college scholarships as a high school senior. As the child of a single parent with few resources, Christopher realized that if he was going to go to college he was going to have to find a way to pay for all of it, including living expenses. His journey to win all of those scholarships led him to create Scholly, an organization that would help other young men and women do the same thing. Scholly received the nation's attention and adoration when it was featured on Shark Tank, landing a deal with Daymond John and Lori Greiner. The company was named in Inc. magazine's top college startups. Chris Gray was also named Ernst & Young's entrepreneur of the year. Most importantly to the Scholly team are the hundreds of thousands of students and families who have been able to use the platform to find more than $70 million in scholarship money to go to the colleges of their dreams. Go Where There Is No Path: Stories of Hustle, Grit, Scholarship, and Faith by Christopher Gray For all who dare to go off the beaten track, this is the inspirational, power-packed playbook for transforming your life and your world—from a young, Black social entrepreneur whose dorm-room tech startup has helped millions pay for college and access unprecedented opportunity. Gray, the son of a single working mother who had him at age fourteen, grew up in deep poverty in Birmingham, Alabama. An academic star, he had every qualification for attending a top college—except for the financial means. Desperate, Gray headed off the beaten path, searching online to apply for every scholarship he could find. His hustle resulted in awards of 1.3 million dollars and became his call to action to help other students win their own “schollys.” It inspired him to start up Scholly, an app that matches college applicants with millions of dollars in outside scholarships that often go unclaimed. When he was a senior at Drexel University, he appeared on Shark Tank as CEO of Scholly. In the most heated fight in the show's history, the sharks challenged Gray as to whether his app was a charity or a profitable business. Both, he insisted, proposing a new paradigm for social entrepreneurship and netting deals from Lori Grenier and Daymond John. At the time Scholly's subscriber base was 90,000 users. Today the app has 4 million subscribers who have won scholarships totaling more than $100 million. Meanwhile, Gray—without help from the mostly all-white boy's club of Silicon Valley—has emerged as a tech startup superhero now tackling the crisis of student debt with innovative, unrivaled strategies. Gray's premise is that when you lead with the good—confronting issues such as poverty and racism—the money will follow. His story is proof that when you develop a mindset for success, you turn disadvantages into gold. And when you create opportunities for others, you enrich the marketplace for yourself too. Gray shows us, we can carve out new paths to better days and leave trails for others.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.07.22.215442v1?rss=1 Authors: Sip, V., Scholly, J., Guye, M., Bartolomei, F., Jirsa, V. Abstract: Intracranial electroencephalography is a standard tool in clinical evaluation of patients with focal epilepsy. Various early electrographic seizure patterns differing in frequency, amplitude, and waveform of the oscillations are observed. The pattern most common in the areas of seizure propagation is the so-called theta-alpha activity (TAA), whose defining features are oscillations in the theta-alpha range and gradually increasing amplitude. A deeper understanding of the mechanism underlying the generation of the TAA pattern is however lacking. In this work we evaluate the hypothesis that the TAA patterns are caused by seizures spreading across the cortex. To do so, we perform simulations of seizure dynamics on detailed patient-derived cortical surfaces using the spreading seizure model as well as reference models with one or two homogeneous sources. We then detect the occurrences of the TAA patterns both in the simulated stereo-electroencephalographic signals and in the signals of recorded epileptic seizures from a cohort of fifty patients, and we compare the features of the groups of detected TAA patterns to assess the plausibility of the different models. Our results show that spreading seizure hypothesis is qualitatively consistent with the evidence available in the seizure recordings, and it can explain the features of the detected TAA groups best among the examined models. I sit down with Colin Jackson, a long time friend of mine. We used to be extremely close around grade 8,... skip forward just under 10 years later, we meet again and indulge in each others lives. . Colin was a regular guy who grinded hard to get a scholarship to an NCAA school, playing the sport he loves. We are both the same age, graduated with our bachelor degrees and now we BOTH have a year (or more) off of school. . Just like old times, we talked for hours, and hours.... and hours!!! After about the 10th restart we got our shit together and recorded this. . We discuss a wide array of topics; how Colin got a scholly to play NCAA lax, how IF helped him get there. Everything from an "amazing" story about Chris Pine, a lesson from George Orwell, exponential thinking, tips in life and our opinions and perspective on being out of University. We also talk about Tekashi 69 and have a more in depth convo on what was going on in my head during my heart thing. . Enjoy the sarcasm, humour and little tid bits of smartness stuff.

He started out working in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) where you can simulate very complex models like explosions and fluid flow for aircraft design. Outside of the traditional mechanical design some other fields of mechanical engineering are Materials Engineering and Fluid Mechanics. What he likes about engineering is if you have an idea, you can realize that idea, if that sounds interesting to you then engineering could be a great path for you. He believes learning about programming is important, not to the level of a Computer Engineer or Software Engineer but you need to understand the concepts of what it is capable of as it will be controlling your mechanical system. In new product development, you need to understand what your customer really wants so you design a product that will be valuable in the market place. An ah-ha moment? When he was introduced to SWOT analysis which is your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats and recommends you perform one on yourself. Best piece of advice: Don’t limit yourself. A phone app is Scholly to help find scholarships for college. Book recommendation is “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey which you can get free from Audible at www.stemonfirebook.com Free Audio Book from Audible.

Alissa Rumsey—now known for her work in freelance writing, private practice, and as an experienced spokesperson for the Academy—started, and loved, her career in clinical nutrition. During her clinical work, she also started writing, side-hustling, and at the suggestion of her boss (and mentor), applied to become a spokesperson. If you work somewhere for more than a few years, you learn a lot, develop key relationships, and may have an incredible mentor who helps push you in new directions. She may convince you that clinical is the right place to start. (You do you!) Transition to business and life things: One key question: How and when do you pay YOURSELF? Student loan debt in the US is over $1.3 billion. You can watch the student loan debt grow in real time here. And it’s no wonder. Over 70% of students in the US take on debt to pay for education. At the same time, over $100 million in private aid (scholarships) go unclaimed on an annual basis. This is why Christopher Gray cofounded Scholly. If you have heard Christopher’s name before, it would not be surprising. He is well known for having been awarded $1.3 million in scholarships, a feat that took him 7 months of hard work. You might also remember the disagreement his pitch caused among the “sharks” on the television show Shark Tank. Scholly is the simple, comprehensive and accurate scholarship matching platform that has helped students win over $35 million in scholarship awards. In less than two minutes, you can input your data and be instantly matched with scholarship opportunities. Social Entrepreneurship Quotes from Christopher Gray “Scholly is a mobile and web app that makes it simple for high school students and current college students to find scholarships for college.” “Rather than students taking months looking for scholarships, we turn that process into minutes.” “It took me 7 moths just to find the scholarships I wanted to apply for.” “It takes 2 minutes to input 8 parameters and instantly you’re matched with scholarship opportunities.” “We were getting like 9,000 hits to our site per second.” “We were shutting some scholarship sites down because so many people were accessing the site at one time.” “You have to make sure you’re building a business where your financial success correlates directly with your social impact.” “Focus on your data.” Social Entrepreneurship Resources: Scholly: http://myscholly.com Culture Shift Learning Academy waiting list: http://tonyloyd.com/assessment Culture Shift Learning Academy We’re moving closer to the launch of Culture Shift Learning Academy, a comprehensive system to help you flesh out your social impact idea and start achieving it.
