Joining us on the panel, Pablo Rodriguez Retired Professor at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Former Rhode Island Attorney General Arlene Violet and Boston Globe Report Ed Fitzpatrick.Support the show

Lisa Napoli's new book, Susan, Linda, Nina & Cokie is the story of the “founding mothers” of NPR – Susan Stamberg, Linda Wertheimer, Nina Totenberg, and Cokie Roberts – wrapped around the emergence of public radio and second-wave feminism in the seventies. She talks about the friendship between these remarkable women, how they overcame gender barriers to become icons of their industry, and reflects on the state of journalism today.
At the very heart of the debate about the future of work in the UK is this week's Oven-Ready HR guest. Matthew Taylor is the outgoing CEO of the Royal Society for Arts Manufacturers and Commerce, more commonly known as the RSA, and the former interim director of Labour Market Enforcement, the body created to tackle non-compliance with employment legislation. His 2017 independent report into modern work practises, commonly referred to as The Taylor Review, was the basis of the government's Good Work Plan. In this interview, Taylor argues for a change in the UK tax system to stop exploitation of workers in the gig economy as he considers them particularly vulnerable to unscrupulous firms. He's also unconvinced that the recent Surpreme Court judgement in the Uber case will have any lasting impact. He argues that case law isn't the same as a change in the law and the Government have essentially outsourced employment law legislation to the courts.Taylor is also a former Director of Policy and Chief Advisor on Strategy to the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, a former Director of the Think Tank, The Institute for Public Policy Research, and a regular panellist for BBC's Radio Four programme, The Moral Maze. Matthew was awarded a CBE in 2019 for services to employment rights

JOHN EASTMAN: Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsberg - and will There be a CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS if President Trump Chooses NOT to Nominate a Replacement Until AFTER the Election? - CALL IN: President Trump has Announced that He WILL Make a Nomination to Replace the Late Ruth Bader Ginsberg on the U.S. Surpreme Court. Do You Believe He Should - or Should He Wait Until AFTER the Election?
Dr. Dady Chery, associate professor of biology, co-editor-in-chief of News Junkie Post and author of "We Have Dared to Be Free" takes the controversial perspective, with respective push back, that vaccine testing could be an undiscussed proponent in the resurgence of covid 19 in the multitude of states experiencing peaking numbers over the past several days as opposed to an organic expansion of the virus resulting from the early openings of the economies of those states. Dr. Cheri argues the virus is now better understood than it was when it first occurred and is not as severe as was originally believed, making the opening of the economy a reasonable action. Bob and Jamarl discussed the Rayshard Brooks shooting by cops in Atlanta, Georgia and the swift action taken by the state to appease an already on edge community. Within 24 hours of the shooting, the cop involved was fired and the police chief was one of the 40 million out of a job. Strangely enough, the most interesting part wasn’t the cop killing, that is unconscionably normal (cops kill 1000 a year, 99% result in no charges) - it was the city’s reaction given material circumstance associated with the shooting.Vijay Prashad, historian, journalist and executive director of the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research brilliantly explains how the US Government, despite not responding rationally to the phenomenal crisis to which this country finds itself, it is legitimately concerned with the protest taking on larger and broader concerns considering 40 million people are out of a job, tens of millions will be evicted from their homes, and millions are already on the streets. Prashad drilled into the inability of both parties to address the vocal concerns of the population, instead preferring performative politics and theatrics over honestly regarding the public’s indignation. For example, Mayor of Washington DC Muriel Bowse trolling Trump by painting “Black Lives Matter”in large letters on the street in front of the White House, while simultaneously increasing the police department’s budgets. Misfit hosts Bob Schlehuber and Jamarl Thomas also discussed the rather surprising win for common sense and good conscience. A conservative Surpreme Court has ruled that Civil Rights laws must also protect the worker's rights of people that classify themselves as lesbians, gay, and transgender.
