Curta e comente. Bons sons e até a próxima pessoal !#rock #ledzeppelin

On Part 2 of our track x track review of Physical Graffiti as it turns 50, we review the 2nd LP/CD. While there is little in the world of rock music that can stand up to the first LP/CD, the second is more eclectic and shows the real breadth of all Led Zeppelin could do vs. more one dimensional bands at the time. In The Light is an epic that builds to joyous uplift. Sick Again shows Jimmy's slide skills were among the best of his generation while Bron-Yr-Aur shows the quieter acoustic side of Jimmy and great change of pace which leads to a bittersweet Down By The Seaside. Lyrically the boys get a little political with Night Flight, remember relationships from their youth Ten Years Gone and illuminate the LA groupie scene on Sick Again. Because they needed at least 25 minutes of material after their 1974 recording session at Headley Grange (where they recorded part Led Zeppelin IV), they dusted off and cleaned up some songs from previous recording sessions. Some were acoustic numbers that Jimmy electrified like Down By The Seaside and Ten Years Gone. All the songs give all four members of the band a chance to shine and they even enjoy a roadhouse jam with Ian Stewart on Boogie With Stu. The second disc on Physical Graffiti may not be the best. Many of the tracks would never make it on a single album. But double albums have deep tracks and the ones where the boys get away from their heavy riffs and blues based badassery are cool outliers in the Zeppelin catalog. And the heavy riffs from Jimmy Page are amazing. We love it! Led Zeppelin's double album, Physical Graffiti is like no other album. It encapsulates everything about Led Zeppelin to this point. The album features, the blues, rock and roll, heavy metal, prog rock, funk, acoustic numbers, instrumentals and so much more. The band may be at its highest point, creatively, commercially and artistically. All four members shine on Physical Graffiti and the album is adored by Zep fans like no other. The album boasts 8 new tracks along with 7 other tracks left over from their previous albums. Many of the songs are now considered Led Zeppelin classics including, Custard Pie, In My Time Of Dying, Ten Years Gone and the legendary Kashmir. Physical Graffiti went to Number 1 in the USA and UK and is 32 times platinum in the United States. The album cover is iconic and features two buildings located at 96 and 98 St. Mark's Place in New York's East Village. This is as legendary as legendary gets. Led Zeppelin at the LA Forum, June 23, 1977 is one of the most popular, and famous, bootleg recordings out there. The quality of Mike Millard's master recording is matched by the quality of the bands' performance. The first four songs are from the Barry Goldstein master tape, which is almost as good as Millard's. It really ties the room together, as it were. I play Nobody's Fault But Mine, a serene and sublime Ten Years Gone, and a muy fuerte Achilles' Last Stand. It's nice to hear this show with even better clarity. All thanks to the JEMS taping group for curating and preserving these precious recordings.

This a brand new transfer from Mike Millard's master cassettes themselves (not the DAT tansfer) by the laudable JEMS tape group, remastered tastefully by DADGAD. June 27, 1977. Led Zeppelin's final night of a five night run at the LA Forum. I play Sick Again (which rocks), Since I've Been Loving You, which shines in its more mature 1977 arrangement, and an adventurous Ten Years Gone in which not every landing is stuck, but the attempts are noteworthy. This is a stellar recording of really good show. Lots of magic here. Zeppelin at the Forum is not to be missed.

Physical Graffiti Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine Led Zeppelin returned from a nearly two-year hiatus in 1975 with the double-album Physical Graffiti, their most sprawling and ambitious work. Where Led Zeppelin IV and Houses of the Holy integrated influences on each song, the majority of the tracks on Physical Graffiti are individual stylistic workouts. The highlights are when Zeppelin incorporate influences and stretch out into new stylistic territory, most notably on the tense, Eastern-influenced "Kashmir." "Trampled Underfoot," with John Paul Jones' galloping keyboard, is their best funk-metal workout, while "Houses of the Holy" is their best attempt at pop, and "Down by the Seaside" is the closest they've come to country. Even the heavier blues -- the 11-minute "In My Time of Dying," the tightly wound "Custard Pie," and the monstrous epic "The Rover" -- are louder and more extended and textured than their previous work. Also, all of the heavy songs are on the first record, leaving the rest of the album to explore more adventurous territory, whether it's acoustic tracks or grandiose but quiet epics like the affecting "Ten Years Gone." The second half of Physical Graffiti feels like the group is cleaning the vaults out, issuing every little scrap of music they set to tape in the past few years. That means that the album is filled with songs that aren't quite filler, but don't quite match the peaks of the album, either. Still, even these songs have their merits -- "Sick Again" is the meanest, most decadent rocker they ever recorded, and the folky acoustic rock & roll of "Boogie with Stu" and "Black Country Woman" may be tossed off, but they have a relaxed, off-hand charm that Zeppelin never matched. It takes a while to sort out all of the music on the album, but Physical Graffiti captures the whole experience of Led Zeppelin at the top of their game better than any of their other albums. If you missed our first show on Skid Row, you can listen to it here. Please follow the show on Twitter. If you want to email the show we can be reached at MandatoryMusicAndCD@gmail.com. Let us know how you rate Physical Graffiti If it is the best album you've ever heard, it goes to Paradise City If it is really good, but not perfect, it spends time with Dr. Feelgood If it is solid, but not perfect, it goes to the Crossroads If it is mostly crap with a hidden gem or two, it goes to Skid Row If it is the worst album ever, it goes directly to Hotel California for all eternity where you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. #mandatorymusicandcd --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/comics-in-motion-podcast/support

Listen to this, Mimo! By request of long time patron I feature Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden, NYC June 5, 1977. It's the first of six nights they played at the Garden, and it is on fire. We listen to a bass heavy (in a good way) soundboard recording of this show, and hear The Song Remains The Same, In My Time of Dying, Ten Years Gone, and The Battle of Evermore. Enjoy.

In this episode we bring out two very different riffs, one breezy chordlike passage and one trollish stomper. In each episode we pick one main riff each, undisclosed to the other part, to base our discussions around. In this episode Olle picks "Ten Years Gone" by Led Zeppelin and Jon brings in "Cemetary Gates" by Texan metal monsters Pantera. The Led Zepp parts kick of at 02:40 and the Pantera section starts at 26:30. Enjoy! gainitforriffs@gmail.com http://anchor.fm/riffs

There is no other album in my collection that continues to evolve as I do as a person than Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin. The album is a journey filled with songs that take you to another place. From the days of youth through the years of life it's lyrical content continues to resonate. Led Zeppelin continued its evolution as a band with experimental tones and texture with songs like "Kashmir" & "In The Light". They were able to tap into a funky groove with "Trampled Underfoot" while reminiscing about lost love on "Ten Years Gone." In my opinion, this is the pinnacle of Led Zeppelin. Please enjoy the episode.

We listen to a beautiful performance of Ten Years Gone, as well as a glowing Since I've Been Loving You. Jimmy Page is playing wonderfully. We also hear a snippet of an early 1975 hoarded soundboard tape. One of the only live performances of the Wanton Song in soundboard quality. Good stuff!
