We're all about education on this show. Over the years we've learned a lot about beer and beer styles. This episode we learn about NEIPA and how to best store them. Stefan has been doing this for years but Batch Brewing is educating the masses. Because NEIPA tend to settle over time, they created This Side Up, a NEIPA at 8.5% ABV. The label is upside down so you know which way to put in your fridge. Funky Fluid is teaching us that beer can be any color you want. They went with purple. Gelato XTREME: Blue Velvet is an 8% ABV pastry sour made with bananas, berries and ube, a type of blue yam. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #pastrysour #neipa

As fiddle player for the Avett Brothers, Grammy-winning founderof The Duhks, accompanist for Mary Gauthier and as a session player, TaniaElizabeth has spent two decades shaping the arc of modern-day roots music. Sherefocuses the spotlight on her own music with Storm Season, a solo album whosesonic textures are as dynamic and diverse as the songwriter who created them. “I've always backed other people,” she says. “I'm really good at supportingother musicians and holding down the fort so they can shine, but I've rarelyhad anybody else hold that space for me. With Storm Season, I'm investing inmyself for the first time.”  A longtime road warrior, Tania began recording Storm Season during the globalpandemic that brought her touring schedule to a standstill. It was a rare timeof rest for someone who'd been performing since the age of 9. Raised in asingle-parent household, Tania moved from Australia to Canada during her earlychildhood and began busking on the streets of Vancouver Island while still ingrade school.  By 15 years old, Tania had launched her own record label andcompleted her first solo album: Something, a self-financed collection ofinstrumental songs funded by her busking profits. By 16, she had left school, completed a cross-country Canadian tour in partnership with Save The Children(a humanitarian organization dedicating to supporting victims of childtrafficking), and recorded her second album, This Side Up. By the time sheturned 18, she'd already performed her songs in venues across Australia and China.  Looking for new horizons, Tania co-founded The Duhks, a genre-jumping rootsband whose debut album appeared in 2003. The Duhks quickly became one ofCanada's most decorated folk acts, earning a Grammy nomination and a Juno Awardduring Tania's tenure. She left the group's lineup in 2010 and began performingwith the celebrated folksinger Mary Gauthier. By 2013, she'd earned a permanentspot in the Avett Brothers' touring lineup, contributing heavily to Grammy-nominated releases like True Sadness along the way.  On a record stacked with appearances by roots-music luminaries, it's Tania Elizabeth's star that shines the brightest. She writes honestly and poignantly about the bad weather in her life, ultimately finding comfort in her own resilience. Heartbreak, resolve, struggle, and vigilance are common themes, with tracks like “What You Need”unfolding like wake-up-calls for those who have yet to prepare for incomingstorms. Storm Season also soothes, though, balancing itsown urgency with the comforting salve of Tania's voice and the rootsy sweep ofher multi-layered arrangements. This is music that targets the heart as well asthe head. It's the latest chapter in a life story that's still being written. It's the sound of a lifelong musician who's making a return to centerstage, armed with the most compelling music of her career.  Find Tania here:  Website: Taniaelizabeth.net  IG: Telizabethfiddle  FB: Taniaelizabethfiddle  You Tube: Taniaelizabeth.com  Patreon: taniaelizabeth

Had they opened the box, they would have been surprised to learn that the box contained Henry Brown, a Richmond slave who was mailing himself to freedom. In March 1849, Henry Box Brown, a slave paid $86 to ship himself into a 3-foot by 2-foot crate from his master's home in Richmond, Virginia, to Philadelphia. The box was lined with baize, a coarse woolen cloth with a small hole on one side for Brown to breathe. It was nailed and tied with straps and Brown carried with him a packet of biscuits and a can of water. Brown was fully prepared to ‘conquer or die' on his mission as he traveled 350 miles over 27 hours by a variety of wagons, railroads, steamboats, ferries, and finally, a delivery wagon that deposited the box in the office of the Philadelphia Anti-Slavery Society just before the office closed for the day. Brown reportedly jumped out the box and greeted the abolitionists Passmore Williamson, James Miller McKim, and the rest of the Philadelphia Vigilance Committee by saying. “How do you do, gentlemen?” 4:30 - 4:45 Advertisements CQ, LLC QK 4:45-5:20 Let's Dive In GÜD TYMZ: Güd Tymz was born out of our President and Co-Founder Michael Visher's realization that in order for edibles to work well in most social situations, they needed to kick in quickly and deliver a predictable experience that lasts for a reasonable amount of time. So he set out to create an edible that could do just that. In 2018, Michael joined forces with biochemist Dr. Audrey Shor to tackle the problems of slow-acting, inconsistently dosed cannabis edibles. Over many months of research and development, they successfully produced a wholly new, water-soluble cannabis formulation capable of powering truly fast-acting cannabis edibles and revolutionizing the edibles market. From there, Michael and Audrey dove head first into developing fun, novel edibles infused with their proprietary solution and designed to work perfectly in most any social setting. Combining pharmaceutical-grade delivery technology with confectionary chemistry, Güd Tymz was born. With dedicated attention to the highest quality ingredients and the most sophisticated processing techniques, Audrey and Michael launched Güd Tymz Cannabis-Infused Gelatin Shots in 2021 in Denver, Colorado, followed shortly by Güd Tymz Java Shots. Jerry Yudelson Yudelson is a social activist, environmentalist, engineer and spiritual seeker. He’s chronicled his extensive 50-year career and spiritual journey in his book, “The Godfather of Green: An Eco-Spiritual Memoir.” Jerry’s environmental activism began with the inaugural Earth Day Celebration in 1970, when Jerry was a campus organizer at Caltech. He was a key player in California’s solar energy movement during the 70s and 80s, appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to run the state’s solar development program. Jerry has authored 12 books on green building, sustainable development, water conservation, green homes, building performance and green marketing. Fires, Floods, Coronavirus & Climate Change – The Real Challenges We Face in the Coming Decade. Jerry is here to tell us a little bit more about climate change. Currently, there are so many wildfires in California right now due to lightning! The influx of storms is directly due to climate change. Right now, we have more carbon dioxide in the universe than we have in 3 million years. We are heading into doubling and tripling the temperature rise than ever before. Let's look at hurricane Laura. Laura went from a category 1 to a category 4 in 24 hours. The increased heat in the Gulf of Mexico allowed for hurricane Laura to gain strength. We have changed a lot in the last 50 years since the first earth day in 1970. The United States need to be a good example for other countries around the world. We are taking advantage of our earth and planet. We must respect the planet we were given. There is no planet B! Lauren Herring Lauren Herring is CEO of IMPACT Group, the largest woman- owned career coaching company supporting over 200 Fortune 500 companies worldwide. Over the past 30 years, IMPACT Group has successfully helped hundreds of thousands of people find jobs. Additionally, Lauren has donated IMPACT Group’ s services to thousands of individuals in underserved communities, helping them to find jobs, dignity and economic independence. She has received the "Game Changer Award" by Workforce Magazine and has been published or quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Fast Company. Lauren’s passion for making a positive impact led her to write "Take Control of Your Job Search!" as well as  "This Side Up!" Lauren can also be found running the streets of St. Louis while training for a triathlon or spending time with her husband, Ted, and two young children. 10 Emotions To Master During Your Job Search So many people are out of work right now, so Lauren's book is a great read, and so timely! Networking is the #1 driver of jobs right now, especially now, more than ever. The saying "it's not about what you know, it's who you know" is a saying for a reason! Career IQ and EQ are important, but EQ can often be forgotten. Your emotional expertise matters too! Sometimes, not having a job is not the worst thing ever. Take time to get your game plan together. Take time to strengthen your skills. If you do not have connections, that's okay! Bernadette says that she respects people who want to work hard, more than those who just "sit" or know someone. You must master both the positive and negative emotions alike! Having a team of support behind you is critical during a job search. Think of it as a personal advisory board. Lauren says to the people that are desperate to find a job during COVID, do not be discouraged. Get out there and try! Focus on your personal branding and make your intentions clear. Show your value and what you can bring to the table! Have faith in yourself. Thank You!

Hailing from Okinawa, now-Tokyo-based producer IORI once cut his teeth as an assistant for David Mancuso’s revered party, The Loft, in New York City, where he learnt a meticulous sonic mentality from his audiophile mentor. This permeates his carefully-handled arrangements, which have helped make his name and define a series of spacey, atmospheric originals and remixes for proponent imprints like Phonica and Prologue to name a few. Since his striking 2009 debut, Galaxy, which took its cue from Basic Channel and Manuel Gottsching, the Japanese producer has developed an immensely expressive dubbed-out sound in his own right. The first culmination of that is 2012’s excellent Nexus album for Bitta, a label owned by Far Eastern rising star DJ Nobu, seeing his ambient productions sit nicely with his hypnotic dance tunes. Two year stay in Berlin in early 2010s helped IORI gain a foothold in the international stage. He has since traveled across Europe, validating his characteristic meditative techno set, which is just the tip of his huge musical iceberg that ranges from low-slung house to leftfield oddballs. Despite his return to Japan in 2015, his presence remains strongly felt through frequent European tours. 2016 saw IORI release the Cold Radiance album, where his sci-fi ambient side grew fully- fledged. For an artist that has produced immersive and spacious pieces, it was a logical continuation of his extensive career as a producer. Eschewing the club-orientated perspective, it certainly proved IORI’s expressional depth and does justice to his artistic intention, his acute ears for spellbinding details standing out in sharp relief, which raised expectations of his promising future. (by Yusaku Shigeyasu) You can find IORI productions on labels such as @phormarecords, @semantica-records, @phonicarecords, @kr3_records, @djnobu_bitta, @awryrecords, @user-79693200 (Oktave Records), @fieldrecords and more Tracklist : 1 @artefakt-official - Ganzfeld Effect 2 @ValentinoMora - Yant Suea 3 @erikadotnet - North Hex ( @Orphx remix) 4 @Cassegrain - Lop Nor 5 @toma-kami - This Side Up (@forest-drive-west Remix) 6 @naturalelectronicsystem - Marea 7 @mownofficial - A New Life Is Born 8 @iori927 - Under The Water (@Wata Igarashi remix) 9 @benbui - Star dust 10 @Psyk - Outline 11 @Forest-Drive-West - Hidden Past 12 HIGMA (@djyukimasa & @drafted01 )- Follow the Sign 13 @svrecaofficial - Mountain Splitter (@ValentinoMora remix) 14 Marsel - Bambu 15 @stefanvincent - Grey Haze Follow IORI here : @iori927 https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/iori https://www.facebook.com/ioria92781/ https://www.instagram.com/iori_asano/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Follow OUTER DIMENSION here : https://open.spotify.com/show/7AuvVaOqgYPxL7NTME38cT https://soundcloud.com/outerdimension www.instagram.com/outerdimension/ www.facebook.com/OUTERDIMENSION/ Infos & Promos outerdimension.au@gmail.com

My very first experience with Arizona craft beer was Railhead Red at Beaver Street Brewery. It changed my life. For better and worse. I now know what good beer tastes like. But I also gained a few pounds. Well worth it. After hitting up Beaver Street periodically over the next year or so II was super excited when word came out that they were expanding and opening a new bigger brewery and restaurant which became what is now Lumberyard Brewing Company. Owners of what is quite possibly the best patio view in downtown Flagstaff Lumberyard has become an oasis of freshly made craft beer and amazing food.  In fact, another life-changing experience happened to me right on that very patio. I’m a huge fan of BBQ pulled pork. Hands down one of my favorite foods of all time. I also love mac n cheese because I’m an American. Seriously, you show me an American who doesn’t like mac n cheese and I’ll show you a terrorist. Well anyways, I’m looking over the menu and suddenly a single  beam of light shone from the heavens with the sound of angels singing their heavenly tune filled my ears. I followed the shining heaven beam directly to the bottom corner of the menu and quickly realized the purpose of this beam: baked mac n cheese. Ok, you have my attention. But what fell slightly below is what really blew me away: “Don’t forget to include one of our add-ons” and on THAT list I quickly shuffled past everything and saw BBQ pulled pork. Done. Deal. I didn’t even look at the rest of the menu which is rare. My normal process is to narrow it down to about 4 things and then experience self-induced anxiety before making a decision that I immediately regret and dwell on for days. Not this time. I nailed it. And to top it off it was even better than I imagined it would be. So good that I think about that dish at least once a week and that was over 6 years ago! I have also not been able to eat mac n cheese without BBQ sauce ever since.  Oh yeah, guess what?! They have beer too. Really good beer. The Knotty Pine Pale is one of my go-to Arizona pale ales and their Red Ale is stellar as well. I’m a sucker for reds and Lumberyards red is fantastic. They even started a single hop series which I love. I want to know what each hop tastes like so that I know what to look for when making future selections. These guys have won awards. Like, the big kind. Not the “Most Shotgunned Beer at Glenns Bachelor Party” kind of awards. I’m talking Great American Beer Festival Gold Medal type of stuff. They know what they’re doing. In this episode I sit down with Ken Wilson the sales manager at Lumberyard and an overall beer expert. Ken is also the president of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild. Needless to say Ken knows his beer. We recorded this episode during the can release of “This Side Up”, the collaboration between The Shop, Dark Sky, and Helton so things escalated from a sound perspective really quickly. This was a misjudgment on my part but hey, you live and learn right. Anyways, Ken and I have a plan of doing a mini-series about the business of beer so you’ll be hearing more from him in the future. Enjoy the show!  Intro/Outro music is "La Negra Tomasa" by the awesome local Arizona band Fayuca Want to show your support and help this show grow? LOTL Welcomes The Great David Benoit . Discuss his latest CD (CONVERSATION) Since launching his recording career in 1977, David Benoit's expansive career as a contemporary jazz pianist and composer has included over 25 solo recordings. His '80s releases This Side Up, Freedom at Midnight and the GRAMMY-nominated Every Step of the Way are considered influential genre classics. Among his other GRAMMY nominations are those for Best Instrumental Composition (for “Dad's Room,” from 1999's Professional Dreamer) and Best Large Jazz Ensemble Performance (for the GRP All-Star Big Band). His prolific output since 2000 includes several prominent Charlie Brown related projects (including Here's To You, Charlie Brown: 50 Great Years and the star-studded 40 Years: A Charlie Brown Christmas) that reflect his lifelong passion for the music of original Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi and solidify Benoit's role as his musical heir. Benoit has also released the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charting albums Fuzzy Logic, Right Here, Right Now, Full Circle and Heroes, which paid homage to the pianist's top jazz and pop influences.
