This is right near the one year anniversary of The Great Escape. We are only at Chapter Six so it's going to be one long and wild ride.Back in January of this year Phantom Phil read the latest book from one of his favourite researchers Dean Henderson...it can be purchased here:https://www.amazon.ca/Royal-Bloodline-Wetiko-Great-Remembering/dp/This ended up being a philosophical game-charger in a number of different ways. One of them was the introduction of the concept from the Lakota tribe known as Walking The Good Red Road. A more in depth definition comes from this site.http://spirithorsenation.orgThis path could change the state of humanity's consciousness if taken to and applied properly. So find out about it's benefits and how dark forces (likely not of this Earth) got us all off the path in the first place.Connect with Unexplained Inc. here:www.unexplainedinc.com
Summer is late in the city I stay in. There are discussions about it but no conclusions. Some say - enjoy the extended spring. Nobody minds, as there are high winds coming in from the south-west, and windows rattle. There is more time to get the air conditioners serviced. But the intimations of summer have not ceased. Much before the papers announced the hot days ahead, the mornings had started to get more humid. Joggers knew. Windows in cars started being closed and the air conditioning cranked up. Summer bushes along walking paths started flowering. Pink Bougainvillea, red frangipanis, yellow elders. Flower beds had amaranths, salvias and hollyhocks nodding away delightedly. And as I went to office, Red Road and the Victoria Memorial complex was strewn with gorgeous gulmohur and amaltas, the golden yellow shower tree, the purple jacaranda and the flaming royal poinciana. My drives every morning were ablaze with colour. And I knew though it was a welcome, things would unravel in different ways. The tar on the roads would start to melt, as would the barely hidden anger on the edges of side streets. People would tend to get tired faster and more irritated. Fuses would ignite and punches landed. Relationships would begin to unravel and truths told in harsh tones. People would fall into lust more than they fell in love. And there would be too many misdemeanours conducted by common people in commonplace ways. But legendarily people understand. Even as they fight and argue, they understand that the heat is a character in every situation. People make plans to go to the hills but some refuse. Summers are when they reveal themselves to their own. They write their most honest poetry. And understand the enormity of their misdemeanours- and do not hesitate to ask for forgiveness. Springs just make you glad, happy to be alive, perky without reason. Autumns are for deep depression, to think of the worst life has every given as just desserts: it's the time for seeking redemption. Winters are to freeze inside, to not reveal oneself. Everyone is too embroiled in one's own battles of seeking succour and warmth, to be able to think of being benevolent. But summer is when we allow everything to fall apart. Our clothes, our defences, our truths, our untruths. Even as the most iridescent flowers burst uncontrollably in colours which sometimes hurt the eyes, something soft inside wants to tell truths. It seems easier to give in then rebel, or wallow in stories with long lives. It's good to be ordinary and open. Summers are the time for both passions and truths to find their own paths of destruction or redemption. Whilst other seasons are one dimensional, summers are when the roads get forked, ready to form - or destroy you. Ibiza is an island of contrasts. A place which triggers thoughts of raucous partying, superstar DJs and excess. But it's also an area of raw natural beauty, rugged hills, with a rich spiritual history. No-one knows this duality better than Kim Booth - she's experienced both faces of the Balearic paradise island. Kim first visited as a party go-er tourist and 30 years on, she's now a resident offering an alternative side to Ibiza. This tiny island island swells from a few hundred thousand residents, to over a million when tourists flock there over the summer months. But what pressure does this put on the people and the nature of Ibiza? After working in PR and for some of the biggest names in the music industry like superclub Pacha and dance label Defected Records, Kim chose a different path. Facing personal traumas in her life with the loss of her mum and her brother being murdered, Kim turned away from the parties and discovered the Red Road indigenous teachings. After experiencing this wisdom in Central and South America, her life mission changed. She brings healers and musicians from around the world to provide an alternative experience for those looking to “go inwards” - on an island full of people “losing themselves.” But is it realistic to unite these two worlds together in one of the busiest, commercial hotspots in the world? Reporter Amber Haque travels to Ibiza to witness the coming together of ancient, indigenous practices, on the tourist-packed island that is full of modern conflicts. Presenter: Amber Haque Producer: Rajeev Gupta Editor: Miriam Williamson Production Coordinator: Mica Nepomuceno

Today I speak with my friend and exceptional filmmaker Ellie Foumbi, about her Independent Spirt Award-nominated 'Our Father The Devil,' which is now on the Criterion Channel following a premiere at last year's Venice International Film Festival. We also discuss the influence of Andrea Arnold's film 'Red Road' (2006) on her work.We reminisce about our initial meeting and collaboration in 2012, mutual connections in the industry, and Ellie's process of making an effective micro-budget thriller - which involves the balance of intrigue, character development, and a clear antagonist to create tension and engage the audience. Ellie shares her thoughts on the future of cinema, the significance of her work being featured on Criterion, and the importance of patience and honing one's skills through short films and workshops. Updated: 4:45 p.m.The city of Minneapolis began clearing Camp Nenookaasi, a large encampment of unsheltered people, just before noon Thursday.More than 100 people have been living in tents and other temporary structures at Camp Nenookaasi for months. Most of the residents who have been living at the encampment are Native people.Police waited into the late morning for people to move out. There were no apparent confrontations between residents and police.Residents of the camp, located near the intersection of 23rd Street and 13th Avenue, started folding tents and gathering belongings after a pre-dawn breakfast. The mood was somber then purposeful as the sun came up. As the day progressed, people gathered for a news conference held by the camp. The gathering included camp organizer Nicole Mason, Minneapolis council members Jason Chavez and Elliott Payne, Rep. Aisha Gomez, DFL-Minneapolis, residents and others.Tribal leadership also spoke. Red Lake Nation Tribal Secretary Sam Strong described the need for a healing center to be built in the area as an option for those needing services, and the Red Lake Nation being a partner in that pursuit.“Today is about creating a future where we can build this healing center,” said Strong. “The Red Lake Nation is committed to being that partner, to build a space where our people can go when it gets cold, to build a space where our people can learn and relearn our language, our culture, our way of life, the tools to bring them back into society, to bring them on the Red Road. And to do that, we need the cooperation of state, city, federal partners.”A Metro Transit bus was reportedly onsite to transport people leaving the camp to a warming center. Regina Medina updates Tom Crann on All Things Considered about the clearing of Camp Nenookaasi by Organizations in the area have expressed their concerns about the encampment. Sharon Day is the executive director of the Indigenous Peoples Task Force, which operates a housing complex adjacent to the encampment. Day outlined support of the camp's closure in a press release and listed several concerns related to the camp.“We are aware of the over 100 police reports, including sexual assault, human trafficking, other violence and drug trafficking,” wrote Day. “We are concerned about the fires burning within feet of residential buildings, including buildings clad in cedar. We have had vandalism including our vehicle being drilled to access fuel.” The Indigenous Peoples Task Force supports government leadership providing more resources for housing.Late last week, Minneapolis officials set the latest date for closure of the camp for Thursday morning. The city had previously delayed the closing twice because it was working to find places for camp residents to live, at least temporarily. Camp organizer Nicole Mason said she will continue to work on their behalf. “My goal and their goal have not changed. They all want housing. We want the healing center. They want recovery,” Mason said. Many people in the camp struggle with opioid use disorder. A city of Minneapolis spokesperson said in a statement earlier in the week that dozens of former Nenookaasi residents are in more stable housing situations. For many residents, their next move is unknown. Some may take their belongings to another location nearby, others may relocate to one of the shelter beds provided by the city and county. A city spokesperson previously said that local shelters will make 90 beds available to camp residents. Two residents of the camp tried to stop the closure, but a federal judge denied their request for a halt late Wednesday. The residents said in part that the eviction would affect their health and that there were no clear plans to preserve their belongings.

Today's guest is my dear and beloved brother, Salvador Villalobos. Salvador has been walking the Camino Rojo and working intimately with the sacred plant medicines of the Americas, and their traditions, for over 25 years. Originally from Mexico, but now living in the breathtaking cloud forest of Mindo, Ecuador. Salvador is one of the guardians of Hayulima Spiritual Sanctuary; a beautiful and sacred land which welcomes people of all backgrounds to reconnect with nature and themselves, and to safely experience the healing potential of master plant medicines such as Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Peyote, and other ancestral ceremonies. In this episode Salvador and I explore his life long journey into the profound realms of plant medicines and the healing that can be found through ceremony. We discuss the importance of forming a genuine relationship to the natural world around us, the process of meeting and receiving the blessings of his Elders, the transformational power of Ayahuasca, and advice for the younger generation who wishes to work with these sacred plant medicines. We also venture into Salvador's journey of now being a leader of Vision Quest, a potent ritual involving fasting, prayer, and introspection which serves as a doorway to self-discovery and spiritual growth. Beyond the realms of his personal journey, our conversation navigates towards Salvador's vision for the future. His love for his daughters and his aspiration to sculpt a better world for them shines through as he shares the story behind the creation of Hayulima Spiritual Sanctuary and the vision he holds for this land. Join the triad this week as we discuss spirituality and it's importance to walking the Red Road.
We're back in the dark reaches of a pessimistic and aggressive portrayal of the world's "most beautiful place": Scotland. In Ryan's words, it can be a terrifying place. Andrea Arnold's slice of Cinema Verité inspired by the Dogme 95 aesthetic and film movement, really puts you in a scary place that is equally horrifying and mesmerizing. As a counterpoint to the last film we covered, this is also a film about watching people, innocently enough through the eyes of a CCTV operator, but how, through this character's trauma, how that power is easily manipulated for her personal gain. This is a fascinating piece of cinema and one of the strongest debuts from a first-time director. Enjoy this incredibly dark and uncompromising film at your own peril but you won't be disappointed.

You do not want to miss this conversation with Charles Robinson. Charles wonders why Christians are not at the forefront of the environmental movement. We dig into how God revealed Himself to the Native Americans long before the Mayflower and what we all have in common. He also defines justice as the assumed human dignity of all. Charles Robinson, along with his wife Siouxsan, founded The Red Road, an organization dedicated to serving and celebrating Native Americans and ministering the love of Jesus through practical support. He is also the Founder of Atsiniki, a cigar company that seeks to honor Native American culture and the stories of indigenous people everywhere. He, Souixsan, and their 11 children work together to demonstrate how following Jesus and following the red road leads to deeper peace for all.» Subscribe to PEACE TALKS Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/peace-talks/id1590168616About the Center for Formation, Justice and Peace: Justice and peace come from the inside out—from the overflow of a transformed heart. Pilgrims, Indians, the myth of the grateful colonized person — it's been at the core of a persistent but false Thanksgiving narrative that has distorted the true relationship between Indigenous Peoples and white colonizers dating back to Plymouth Rock. As many of us observe Thanksgiving and Indigenous Peoples' Day, the new federal holiday, Judith LeBlanc, executive director of the Native Organizers Alliance, reminds us that “people are questioning.” In the midst of a national reckoning with white supremacy and colonial history, Indigenous people are demanding a new relationship with DC — honoring the traditional, legal, and moral rights of Native nations. In 2021, a group of Native organizers invited Laura to travel with a 25-foot totem pole from the Lummi Nation in Washington State to Washington D.C. stopping for ceremonies in communities under threat and gathering messages for the Biden-Harris administration. In DC they held a historic meeting with Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. In this episode, we hear what happened in that meeting, how Native movements are changing, among other myths, the Thanksgiving story, and where a Red Road to the future might lead us — if we followed it. November is National American Indian Heritage Month.“. . . When Native peoples are taking a stand, whether it's no DAPL at Standing Rock or the Keystone XL Pipeline . . . it's not just a Native American issue. We're defending the water and the land for tens of millions of Americans.” - Crystal Echo Hawk“Laws and policies were written without considering Indigenous communities' challenges or their strengths . . . Today and every day, we break barriers to those institutions and systems that were designed to keep us out.” - Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland“We're hoping this Thanksgiving, people take a look at what has happened in this country when it comes to reckoning with systemic racism . . . We bring the idea that we're all in relationship.” - Judith LeBlancGuests:Crystal Echo Hawk: IllumiNative, Founder & CEOJudith LeBlanc: Director, Native Organizers AllianceMari Margil: Executive Director, Center for Democratic and Environmental RightsAnahkwet/Guy Reiter: Executive Director, Menīkānaehkem Community RebuildersFaith Spotted Eagle: Ihanktonwon Dakota Elder & Brave Heart Society Kunsi Member The show is made possible by listeners like you. Great interview with my friends and colleagues, Ray and Amalia Baca. Together we started the Ocotillo Center for Integrative Medicine, which continues to evolve. Raymond Alonzo “Two Bears” Baca describes himself as a Christian Taoist, walking the Red Road. I call him a Medicine Man and a Breathworker. Amalia Baca obtained her doctorate's from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Baca has developed a strong passion for providing medical care to families, using advanced medical technologies as well as traditional & indigenous healing methods. Together their experiences with sacred ceremony, with & without entheogens, have blessed them with opportunities to help others with their healing work and post-integration. Breathwork has become a big part of that integration, and in this episode, they share their expertise with our audience. Enjoy this profound episode!
