*Apologies in advance for the slightly off sound quality; we hope you still find the content meaningful.* What is Artificial Intelligence? What role can it play in ensuring information is factually correct (especially during a pandemic) and that data is gender disaggregated? Today I’m joined by our first honorary male guest, Freddie Kalaitzis, Senior Research Fellow in Machine Learning at the University of Oxford. We know that AI is modelled on human behaviour, and given that humans are innately biased, can we trust AI to be unbiased and neutral? Freddie also talks about his work with Amnesty International on ‘Troll Patrol', which investigated the extent of abuse against women online. One statistic which stood out was that Women of Colour were 34% more likely to be mentioned in abusive tweets than White women and that Black women were particularly affected, being 84% more likely than white women to be mentioned in abusive tweets. Globally, Public Health policies have not addressed the gendered impacts of pandemics. Campaigners have argued that this research gap is caused by a lack of gender disaggregated data. Emerging evidence suggests that more men are dying, potentially due to gendered immunological or environmental differences, such as exposure to pollutants from working outside or smoking. 89% of nurses in the UK are women, emphasising the gendered nature of the healthcare workforce and the risks that women face. I ask Freddie if AI can drive information gathering techniques which simplify and enable sex disaggregated data to be collected and what solutions AI might provide in response to COVID-19. At a time when we are saturated with news and information at our fingertips, AI could play a crucial role in preventing misinformation. Finally, Freddie reminds us why we should be mindful that correlation doesn’t always mean causation.
Lebanon has suffered not just a catastrophic blast that cost around two hundred lives, but also a devastating economic crisis. The value of the currency has plunged and the pandemic lockdown forced nearly a third of businesses to close, leaving thousands jobless. Is Lebanon now a sinking ship? People are leaving in droves, as Leila Molana-Allen reports from Beirut. Chile's central region has been so dry over the past ten years, that scientists speak of a “mega-drought”. But how do you farm without water? Jane Chambers visited the Til Til region to find out how the residents are coping with the agricultural crisis. In the Philippines Facebook took down more than 200 accounts accused of promoting pro-Duterte propaganda last week. Opposition politicians, human rights activists and journalists have reported receiving threatening posts. But a group was formed, to stand up to the abuse: The Troll Patrol. Howard Johnson went to meet one of them. In the Australian city of Melbourne, they’ve been having a second, full lockdown since July. Constraints have now started to be eased, beginning with the lifting of the curfew. But this second lockdown has been happening during the winter in the southern hemisphere, and, as Will Higginbotham reports, it took a heavier toll on residents’ mental health than the first. The spread of coronavirus has triggered a tangle of travel restrictions around the world. The UK demands that people arriving back from most foreign countries - though not Germany - self-isolate at home for 14 days. Reason enough for Simon Calder to watch his step very carefully at the German-Belgian-Dutch border. Presenter: Kate Adie Producer: Arlene Gregorius

Listen, we're not known for keeping our knickers knot-free, but this week might take the cake. Maybe it's that we've been away a while or maybe it was the bottle of wine, but we took it out on the Cats trailer, Disney World Mom, Titus Burgess, Jake Paul and yes, even the Queen herself. Something must be in the air. That has to be it. It can't be the wine. We oop our way through it all AND a Troll Patrol that gives new meaning to "Bitches who go to diners need to act right." That may actually be the only meaning for that. Oh, we got Wigs, too. Cuz we care about some stuff still. Thanks for listening!
Hi, Wigs! Are you ready for the biggest podcast spectacular of the year starring Hollywood's hottest A-List stars? Well, tough titties, this is just Wigs & Wice! This week we get into our feelings about Game of Thrones, Nicholas Cage, Bob Kraft and starving anal worms (unrelated somehow!) And if that's not enough to make you hit DOWNLOAD, how about a Troll Patrol dispatch with one of the most terrible trolls we've ever had the displeasure of reading? And as always, Wigs for days and days and days. Which is good because you'll need it while you wait in line for Avengers tickets! (That's a dumb joke because no one waits in line for tickets anymore) Thanks for listening and don't forget to rate, review, share and subscribe!
Sivan and Jen, our Superstar registered medical cosmetic nurses are back and Miss Polly from Penis and Pussy Talk with Miss Polly is our special guest. Sivan’s clients are some of the Dallas Housewives from the Bravo Hit Series. Everyone’s beautiful faces are walking billboards of Sivan’s work. Gabrielle says that the big lips are more a USA trend and not so much a Europe Trend but the girls disagree and are saying it is starting to take over there as well. We discuss the bad techniques of some injectors and how they can create the Marge Simpson look with lip injections and you definitely do not want that. Sivan talks about some clients unrealistic expectations and demands. We learn that it takes 10 syringes to fill up one little ketchup packet. Sivan and Jen tell us that you do not have to be only in your 20′ to have full lips but you should have beautiful full lips in your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and even older. Sivan wishes that all the beautiful makeovers she creates would share the truth so that they could help someone that might not know that this help is available for them. Sivan tells us about her Mom telling her that a woman dies twice in her life. Listen to how poignant this is. It is never too late for injections but starting young is best. We discuss personal grooming for women. Then we have the Troll Patrol discussion about how they deal with their haters. Sivan informs us about the insanity of the new trend that people buy their fillers online and have a nurse friend inject them for free, only with horrendous results. You must hear this story. People advertise lip injections that are not FDA approved for $ 300 or you get only 1/4th of a syringe. We discuss the pain of the injections. Humble Sivan has been voted as one of the TOP 100 injectors in the whole USA.Jen has been trained by Sivan and Sivan says she might be even better than her. We find out about all the amazing services lemmonavenuesurgerycenter.com offers. The Question of the Day is a must listen: We ask about how everyone feels if they find out about an ex boyfriends betrayal and how they would react. https://www.instagram.com/lipsbysivan/https://www.instagram.com/lipsbyjen/https://www.instagram.com/lemmonavenueplasticsurgery/https://www.instagram.com/paulkraft/https://www.instagram.com/drmarkdeuber/
Hi, Wigs! What a long strange year it has already been, no? Makes you long for the cozier night terrors of 2018. Thankfully, we're back with another episode filled with lots of confused vigor and fury to make the pain SLIGHTLY less eye-stabby. This week, we wade through the Khloe/Jordyn drama, unravel the insanity of the Momo Challenge and sashay right on past the complications of Leaving Neverland and Jussie Smollett in favor of more important issues... Drag Race Drama!! We've got a double Troll Patrol that takes you from a beloved Los Angeles bodega to just south of the border. And Wigs to keep you smiling long into the weekend. Thanks for listening!
On this episode of The GAP Luke Lawrie and Joab Gilroy talk about doing back flips is Trials Rising. The other games they've been playing this week include Apex Legends, Dota 2 Auto Chess, Rainbow Six: Siege, Troll Patrol, Armello and more. Over in the news Fortnite will have $100 million for esports prize money […]
Hi, Wigs! Well, before we round out this shitshow of a year, we have one more episode for your listening pleasure. And lucky us, you did all the work! That's right, some of our favorite listeners weighed in with their favorite things of the year (and a few popped corks for good measure). We have a twisted Troll Patrol dispatch and even a throwback to one of our very first episodes. Spoiler alert, we got drunk. Love you wigs so much for your support. Thanks for all the love and we'll be back in 2019!
In this episode we are missing Aric, but we discuss haunting on hill house *SPOILER ALERT* and various other horror films as well as dabbling in a bit of anime. Check us out on Youtube!

Oof, that's probably not what you were expecting to see in your pod subscriptions this AM, huh? We gotta cut to the chase, Wigs. Not only did we have to take another month break, but this episode is GNARLY. In the best way tho! All sorts of new sex stuff and not all of it has to do with our latest Supreme Court justice! LOL AREN'T WE?? Beyond that POS, we also drag Charlie Puth, Amazon, Azalea Banks and sadly, Murphy Brown. Yeah, nobody is happy with that one, but we're non-partisan (or at least we pretend to be). Lots of good stuff, too, tho. A double Troll Patrol and Wigs galore to make you smile until you get sized for your Handmaid garb. Chin up! No, that's what your Handmaid tailor is going to say to you. Thanks for listening!!
Hi, Wigs! Austin Powers finally got the answer to his burning question and as it turns out, it's Cardi B. As usual we consume and digest all the garbage juice of the week so you don't have to! From the Saturday Night Smackdown heard around the world to Les Moonves (GTFO) to the pastor who decided that there's never a wrong time to grope. We gotta be honest, this week's garbage juice was much more stank than usual. But don't worry because after all that, you can sink your teeth into an Italian feast-inspired Troll Patrol. Then sit back, flip yo wig and load up on all the great pop culture you'll need to get you through the weekend! Keep those heels where we can see 'em and thanks for listening!
Wigs! It's royal wedding weekend! Do you have the fever? Yeah, neither do we. But we do want to talk about the Markles because they are Making England Great Again™. Also, we have some thoughts on Nev Schulman, the Tim Hortons Pooper®, Lil Tay (she back) and the worst douchebag from Texas (which is saying something), Blake Farenthold. But there's also this dude in our Troll Patrol who's pretty awful. AND Laurel and/or Yanny, depending on how you swing. Guys, things are still not great. Except our Wigs! We're snatched about an important new HBO doc, the Golden State Killer arrest, a brilliant Netflix comedy special and a tragic drunken Whitney Houston mistake Paul will never make again. Eh, let's get real, he'll probably make it again in a week. Happy Friday Wigs! Pour yourself something stiff and thanks for listening!
Wigs, things are confusing. You know this. We know this. We don't know how to fix it, but every single day, we strive to speak more eloquently about it. Because none of these fools we're talking about are going to. So today, brace yourself for corks on Kanye, Kim K, Uber, Lil Tay and Katherine Heigl, because that bitch more than anyone, simply can't just be cool. But stay tuned for a Troll Patrol and plenty of wigs to flip that remind us there's always a light at the end of the long, long, long, long, long dark tunnel that is 2018. Thanks for listening!
Sometimes the "Wig" just doesn't fit, you guys. But we still found a way to cinch it real tight this Halloween with lots of good treats and more than enough tricks. We'll scare the pants off you with the latest on Maroon 5, Kevin Spacey, Kathy Griffin vs Andy Cohen and Taylor's tragic new attempt to stay relevant. We've got a Troll Patrol and a super sweet quiz for Lindsay. And wigs that get flipped so high, a witch caught one and swapped it out for her hat... No, that really happened! Pour yourself whatever brew suits you and enjoy!
Wow, things are still pretty sh*tty, huh? Take a deep, long, cleansing breath and then, prepare to get worked up all over again as we swirl our Chard into a tizzy over terrible pastors, Katy and Orlando, natural deodorant, Despacito, DACA, Taylor Swift and most important of all, Chizza (if you don't know, you may want to listen once you're done eating). Good news comes in the form of a Troll Patrol and a brand new segment called, Second Opinion! And stick around to the end to find out what's giving us hope. Spoiler alert, Lindsay had to actually Google "good news" to find some. Harumph. Thanks for listening!
Hey Wigs! Well, we can probably check Patrick Dempsey off the future guest list after this episode. He's the subject of our Pop Culture Itch Scratch and, well, opinions are formed. Same goes for Katy Perry, James Cameron, Louis CK, Steve Bannon and the people they hired to give commentary on the eclipse. Luckily, we turned our frowns upside down long enough for a gross out Troll Patrol, Judge Judy's boss status, new music from Pink, Lady Gaga's new documentary and how we can all be better white people. Thanks for listening! (Disclaimer - We had a little extra wice this week, so apologies in advance, mostly to Patrick Dempsey)
Charlize is not the only one kicking ass this week. Trans rights are human rights and we are dragging these fools, even though they certainly ain't worth it. We also have plenty of chum to devour in the form of Blake Farenthold, Friends from College, ill-conceived cartwheels, Angelina's casting process and Terminator reboots. There's a listener request that gets very controversial-ish, a Troll Patrol for seafood haters and plenty of good news that we'll keep secret because, we need it more than ever. Fasten your lacefront, wigs! It's gonna be a bumpy night.
We had to sneak away for a couple weeks, but the good news is, it only made us crankier! Settle in with a ice cold Sancie and listen up; We’re talking Bachelor in Paradise, Rough Night, Caitlyn Jenner, the new Ken dolls, and obviously… Katy and Johnny (do we even need to say their last names anymore?) We pick our songs of the summer, gag over the Drag Race reunion and Troll Patrol ourselves to Barnes and Noble. Summer’s here and the time is right… for wigging in the streets! Thanks for listening!
Talking Points Memo: "Girl, bye." That's it. At least for O'Reilly it is. But, nobody pays us so we can say whatever the hell we want! Hey, Bill, maybe there's a future in podcasting for you? #bwahahahahaha And do we ever... live from the desert of Palm Springs itself, we let our chill fly away with the evening breeze, sip our sweet tea and break down everything from Dan Rochkind to #thingsonlywomenwritershear to Olivia De Havilland's email address to Rachel Dolezal... and as always there's a Ruality Check and Troll Patrol to get you ready for the weekend! If you've got an itch or a scratch to itch and/or scratch, you're welcome here. Thanks for listening.
Tim Allen is so marginalized you guys. We were going to start a Kickstarter but then we realized we didn’t give anything close to a f***. #oops This week, we drag Brett Ratner, Dave Chappelle, John Mayer, someone actually named Raul Labrador and almost Tom Cruise for a garden variety of reasons they all probably deserve. And y’all Security Moms… yeah, you’re gonna want to have a BIG glass of wice ready for this one. Troll Patrol gets real meta and we flip our wigs over things that really matter. Like Moana, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Baywatch and an iPad game for teenagers. Listen, it’s not the New York Times, but it’s also not fake news. So... that's something.
Well, it's taken roughly three days as president for that schmuck to fuck everything up so we decided it was only right for us to come back a little early this week. Brace yourself for so much spillage of tea, wine and even Monster drink, our cups runnethed over. There's even time for a Reality Check and Troll Patrol! Don't say we never gave you anything. Enjoy, wigs! #sharkgirl
