New Hampshire Unscripted talks with the performance arts movers and shakers
Today's WKXL NH Unscripted guest, Ethan Paulini, Artistic Director for the Weathervane Theatre, graciously came all the way from Whitefield NH and drops by to chat up the Weathervane's 60th season. It's packed to say the least! With a themed season focusing on icons it features productions such as Alanis Morissette's “Jagged Little Pill”, “Becoming Dr. Ruth”, “Grease”, “Dirty Blonde”, “The Producers” as well as a play called “The Shark is Broken” in which 3 actors take on the roles of Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfus who “…are crammed into a too-small boat, entirely at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Alcohol flows, egos collide, and tempers flare on a chaotic voyage that just might lead to cinematic magic…if it doesn't sink them all.” And all of that is just SOME of their seasons offerings. (Tickets can be purchased here: ci.ovationtix.com/35289)

Business was not just slowing but coming to a full stop. And our money was doing the same.So today, we're getting honest about how we're all weathering this season, the lessons we're taking from these experiences we're having individually and collectively, and of course how we're supporting each other. We're talking about:why money is so personal, and how we feel its energy and emotion in our bodies — especially manifesting as shamethinking of a financial downturn as a reset period that makes space for other opportunities to come into our livesleaning into the curiosity that whatever's happening, it's preparing you for something different, to be someone different, "who am I going to be next?" instead of resisting and working from fear and panicpracticing nervous system hygiene and embracing the idea of surrender, where you're trading money for valuable timeIt feels like a cliché to use the word “abundance” sometimes but it really is about more than just money, and the power of empathy we hold in a world of capitalism that doesn't value those powers. So I hope you find some resonance here and practices to lean on, because this kind of thing is hard for everyone!Connect with the Weathervane Witches:Rachael:Website: thegoodwitchofthenortheast.comInstagram: @thegoodwitchofthenortheastJessica:Website: jtbwellness.comInstagram: @beamyourheartNicole:Website: mediumnicole.comInstagram: @mediumnicoleaReady to watch the podcast on YouTube?Check it out HERE and be sure to subscribe!Join me for Co-Create, a monthly new moon circle and community space for the spiritually curious!>>>Sign up here Download your free Human Design body graph here.Want to book your Human Design chart reading?Get on the waitlist here to be the first to know when my books open for readings!I'm DYINGGGG to get to know you better so I'd love for you to hang around! This week we talk about Weathervane Productions, a company backed by affluent men with ties to Wells Fargo, which gave them the appearance of reliability. They funded multiple box office participation trophies, but the funding deal they were peddling seemed too good to be true.
Our story tonight is called Snowstorm at Weathervane Farm, and it's a story about settling all the animals on the farm into their cozy stalls and pens before the blizzard arrives. It's also about the pond icing over, friendships that reach beyond species, blueberries and extra blankets, rubber boots, and the excitement of fresh snow. Not sure how I haven't had my friend Dan Adams on the WKXL show NH Unscripted before, but, it's time to correct that error in judgment!! He's been a paramedic since 2003. Was a police officer in the early 2000's. So his life was public safety before he needed to make a change and got into education. He went to college for News Reporting and Anchoring, had some job offers but didn't want to move across the country. He had always wanted to be an actor. So started doing some community theater then took a break. Then got cast at the Weathervane. Then it took off from there. Oh yeah, we got all the juicy details.

Ram Vilas Paswan was a steady presence in national politics for more than four decades. He has held Cabinet posts in several governments, including stints in key ministries such as Railways and Telecom. He is one of the faces associated with the historic implementation of the Mandal Commission report on OBC reservations. As someone adept at sensing shifts in political climate before others could, he was able to make the most of his political capital. But what is the nature of his legacy as a Dalit leader? A new biography, titled ‘Ram Vilas Paswan: The Weathervane of Indian Politics' by Sobhana K Nair offers a nuanced answer to this question.
AP correspondent Karen Chammas reports on France Notre Dame Rooster.

"I think about rage as containing information. I talk about anger as a weathervane pointing you towards the places that need attention and healing. So I think rage can be useful in that way of teaching you what needs to change in your life. And it might be that you need more support or you need to not be in charge of bedtime every night or whatever.Rage is also useful in giving you the energy to create change larger than just your little home." ~ Minna DubinWe are really excited to share with you this illuminating and enlightening conversation with Minna Dubin. Kaitlin and Minna had the great privilege to meet by way of the Artist Residency in Motherhood group, which she's mentioned on the podcast in the past.Minna is the author of the book, Mom Rage: The Everyday Crisis of Modern Motherhood, which is out from Seal Press the very week that this episode is released this September, 2023.Her writing has been featured in the New York Times, Salon, Parents, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Romper, The Forward, Hobart, MUTHA Magazine, and Literary Mama. As a leading feminist voice on mom rage, Minna has appeared on MSNBC, Good Morning America, The Tamron Hall Show, NBC10 Boston, and NPR.“Modern motherhood is a setup for anger.” ~ Minna DubinShe lives in Berkeley, California with her husband, her two children, and no pets, she clarifies because, as she says, enough is enough.Minna and Kaitlin talk about:How Minna came to writing, particularly how she came to the writing structure she uses in writing Mom Rage. The different facets of mom rage, and how rage can look different for each individual. The individual and the institution and how the interplay of both come to highlight where rage and power structures intersect. How Minna finds community now that she has a clear understanding of those power structures and how they impact her experience of motherhoodHow family structures in other cultures and parts of the world differ, and how the individual experiences of motherhood are impacted when you have these structures.Parenting neurodivergent children and how the lack of societal support structures for them interplays with mom rage.More about Minna:Website: www.minnadubin.comTwitter: www.twitter.com/minnadubinInstagram: www.instagram.com/minnadubinPre-order your copy of Mom Rage here: https://bookshop.org/a/86159/9781541601307Please subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and give us a rating. There's no denying it. No matter how good your product or team is, the startup will make or break because of the founder. Most founders learn this during their startup journey and actively pursue everything they can to make sure they can be the best founders possible. But in doing so, fall into the hidden traps and paradoxically become the founders they've tried so hard to avoid being. What are these founder traits that you should avoid at all cost? Chris is back and he rejoins Yaniv to explore the 7 Founder Archetypes Destined To Destroy Their Own Companies. With an analysis of their strengths and pitfalls, this exploration into the inner workings of startup visionaries is bound to captivate anyone fascinated by the clash of ego, ambition, and innovation. To his legions of local fans, Dennis Schocket is one the hardest working performers in the thriving Harford County music scene. At any number of local venues, you can catch Dennis performing solo, with special guests such as Rob Fahey, or with one of his bands -- Starbelly, 1974, The Atomic Light Orchestra (AL0) and Fabtastic Four. Under appreciated, however, is Dennis's talent for creating complex harmonies and lilting melodies in the service of intricate pop songs that bring to mind the music of Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. Dennis makes a return visit to Mainstreet to talk about his new solo album "Weathervane," to be released in April on Tall Boy records, and an upcoming tour with his band Starbelly. Will Dennis, or any of the gifted local musicians he's been associated with over the years, someday win a Grammy? Find out what Dennis thinks on this episode of Mainstreet. The story of Madame Sara Spencer-Washington would be lost to not only African-American history, but US history as a whole, were it not for her descendants and the work of author Cheryl Woodruff-Brooks. With a goal of introducing a new generation of children, "The Story of Madame Sara Spencer-Washington and the Apex Empire" is one of an entrepreneur who broke boundaries. In 1911, Spencer-Washington moved from Virginia to Atlantic City, New Jersey and started the Apex News and Hair Company, a door-to-door cosmetics business and hair salon, which she transformed to an international empire. With hundreds of products, and 45-thousand agents around the world, Spencer-Washington opened beauty schools and expanded to Haiti and South Africa. She was honored at the New York World's Trade Fair in 1939 for her endeavors, and also served as a philanthropist and civic leader. Cheryl Woodruff-Brooks had a passion for writing from childhood, and won awards for her essays. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, she wrote for the school newspaper The Weathervane; her works have also appeared in Bronze Magazine, among other publications. Her first book for Sunbury Press was the 2017 release, "Chicken Bone Beach: A Pictorial History of Atlantic City's Missouri Avenue Beach," which was nominated for a literary award by the Schomburg Center in New York City. Cheryl is also an accomplished singer-songwriter; she lives with her family in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

Nikki Pebbles is featured on this week's episode of Nicstalgia. Can the conversation about thongs ever really end??? No. Talking ~in depth~ about hiding your bedazzled and embellished Mandee's, Weathervane, Wet Seal, Rave, and Rave Girl thongs from your mom. Did Nikki have her first kiss at a Harry Potter movie, wearing Jessica Simpson's edible dessert line? Yes, of course she did. (Lorraine just knew.) Shout out to Mike's Hard Lemonade. In these final chapters of John's Revelation he describes, in detail, the ongoing war between the Lamb of God and the Dragon of the adversary. It's fitting that in our last study of the New Testament we get a vision into our past and our future all intended to give us hope and help in that exact conflict. The outcome of the war is assured; study with us this episode in search of truths that can make our personal battles just as sure. There is sometimes occassion for even the most devout desible or the most believing Saint to ask themselves, "Jesus, are you really there?" This question may have been on the minds of some of the earliest readers of the apostle John's epistles which would explain why he begins his writings with the certainty of his own witness followed by some of the richest descriptions of Jesus found in scripture. Study with us this week as we learn what John has to say that might help us feel closer to Jesus and become more assured that He is, in deed, really there. Webster's definition of endure is "to continue in the same state." However, that's the exact opposite of what Peter counseled early saints to do as they faced persecution and battled personal struggles. When we read this in James: "Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only," we can't help but analyze ourselves. When it comes to studying the gospel, do seek to learn, really learn from the Lord? In this episode, we both study the doctrine of doing as well as practice a scripture study that has us asking what God wants us to learn, and also feel, do, and become. In a world that seems to be constantly at war with our faith, and with persistent temptations to give up, pull back, or draw away, the Epistle to the Hebrews challenges us to remember our great "high priest of good things to come" (Hebrews 9:11) and to "draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith" (10:22). How do we do that? Study with us this week as we learn together how to strengthen faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Show Notes: Jeffrey R. To a people who felt their faith slipping and their hearts hardening the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews taught both why they should retain their devotion to Christ and how they could actually strengthen their faith. In this first of our two part study of Hebrews we start a study of everything about Jesus Christ that helps us "come boldly to the throne" of God and which increases our confidence before him. What happens when you feel yourself or someone you love swerving away from the covenant path? That's the question that Paul addresses with a few specific individuals (Timothy and Titus) from this week's study. Study along as we discuss the difference between doctrine and policy and how we can navigate a world that seems to be constantly changing while drawing closer to a God who is unchageable. The Thessalonian saints spent their Christian living in world filled with persecution and pain and, thus, anticipated with longing the promised blessings of the Second Coming of Christ and the accompanying salvation from pain. However, Paul writes to inform them that those promised blessings are yet a ways off for them. So what do you do when the future you're waiting for isn't here yet? What do you do when you're tired of doing what's right and waiting for the reward? How can you be "not weary in well doing" when you feel you've been doing it so long? Study with us this week to learn answers to these and other questions. Show Notes: "Patience: More Than Waiting," Ensign, August 2015. D. Our life, like Paul's, is often filled with bad news and good news that are intertwined. From prison (bad news) Paul writes a letter to the Philippians about his rejoicing (good news) in the gospel of Christ. Similarly, we must learn how to face our own prisons and problems (bad news) and see through them to the promises and perfection (good news) that Jesus Christ offers. Have you ever felt like your faith was under attack? Like your membership was being bombarded by criticism? Like you were in war against something or someone you can't see but who is intent on wrestling away from you the very truths that provide you hope in life? Well...you are! At least, that's how Paul describes what the Ephesians are going through. Study with us this week as we learn from Paul how to really fight against that unseen wickedness, put on the whole armor of God, and stand strong in our faith in Christ. Show Notes: Kim B. If you've ever felt pulled in two different directions, commanded to walk a covenant path by one voice and tugged to walk in other directions by so many other voices, than you can empathize with the Galatians. This week we study Paul's words to those who are pulled in different directions and learn, from him and from our own personal confirmations, why we should "stand fast" in the faith of Jesus Christ. Paul says that he has a "thorn in the flesh", some weakness that persistently bothers him and forces him to admit humility and reliance on God. That feeling of weakness is, of course, not foreign to us as we look at ourselves nor as we look at those around us. So why does God allow us to have weakness and why does he allow those around us, maybe especially those who lead us, to have weakness too. Study along this week to learn from Paul what do with your and others' thorns. Show Notes: Blue Dot Sessions, "Weathervane," Creative Commons.

"There are," Paul writes, "so many kinds of voices in the world." How true today, with so many and groups clamoring for our attention today Paul teaches the simple truths of the gospel and resurrection of Christ. Study along with us as we listen to one voice that will make all the difference. Show Notes: Blue Dot Sessions, "Weathervane," Creative Commons.
Paul taught that, just as there must be unity among different parts for the body to function, so too must there be unity among different members of a family/ward/church in order for that organization to work properly. Study with us this week as we learn what breaks the body and what heals it again. Show Notes: Blue Dot Sessions, "Weathervane," Creative Commons.
