In our Episode #76, we talked with Emily and Heidi of the "Romancing the Shelf" podcast, and they were asking about whether or not we ever see Steven Whitter and his wife again in another "In Death" book. We have not, but that got us thinking about all of the characters over the years that we loved and wish would come back. We give you a whole list of these and why we love them, and why we want to see them again. Also, we talk about whether chili should have beans or not, if chili was in fact invented in Texas, AJ's ex-mother-in-law's horrible chili recipe that actually won a chili cookoff. Also: Sue Neveu from Windsor Canada calls the number! That sparks a whole discussion about Canada and how it's a "rite of passage" according to Jen, for people in Michigan to go up to Windsor Canada to drink when they turn 18.

The Canadian rock music scene is not just about Nickelback. The country is rich with talent in the rock world with the emergence of some eclectic bands like The Glorious Sons, Monster Truck and Justin & Tarek from the band The Blue Stones. A two-piece band originally from Windsor Canada. Has a sound comparable to The Black Keys and Royal Blood. They are the special guests this week on the DOMKcast with Lunchbox and Promo Brady. The re-release of their album "Black Holes" will happen Friday October 26th. You'll hear the title track off their album at the end of this episode. It tackles the subject of independence. That first little taste that you get directly out of high school and college. Always an experimental time. It's left 100% up to you. Which path will you take? When talking about the message that they were trying to convey with the song Justin & Tarek said "It's about trying to choose between something secure, the safe choice or taking a risk on a path that might be a black hole but could lead to something great.". Huge sports fans and got the opportunity to have one of their songs played during Monday Night Football. Both are admitted Lions fans and talked about the trepidation that goes along with that. The guys and Lunchbox go back and forth about which is worse situation The Lions or The Browns? Hear about their experience playing just outside Wrigley Field before a Pearl Jam concert and the reception they got out on the streets. What are the bands future plans in terms of touring? Hopefully they will be making their way to Oklahoma soon. Full conversation with Justin & Tarek from the band The Blue Stones on episode 77 of the DOMKcast. #DOMKRocks

As part of our special series on emergent scholarship, Dr. Bonnie Stewart of The University of Windsor (Canada) discussed her research of networked publics and the intersectionality between the activity of a scholar and the production and dissemination of scholarship. In this we discussed the difficulties for more traditional practitioners and accreditory bodies to engage the scholarship coming from these domains, in part because of the incongruence between historical models of scholarship production and emergent forms of communication and collaboration. ABOUT BONNIE STEWART Bonnie Stewart is an Assistant Professor of Online Pedagogy and Workplace Education at the University of Windsor. In an era of rapid change and increasing complexity, Bonnie’s work investigates the intersections of knowledge, technology, and identity within educational programming and policy.
