Do Our Votes Count?

Podcast 78:With everything that has happened you have to wonder, does my vote count. In the scheme of thing maybe. When you hear things that are happening in Pennsylvania about 1.8 million mail in ballots being sent out and 2.5 million returning it makes you question things. If there is voter fraud then that devalues the process. As individuals how can we stand by while a broken system is in place? I’d like to know that when everyone goes to the polls there is certainty that their votes will be tallied correctly. What do you think? Podcast 77: Today’s podcast is a conversation with Mike Salinas and myself about the afterlife. Mike recently listened to a podcast on Earth Ancients Podcast and it was interesting to me. Wether you are a religious person or not I think everyone is curious on what happens after we die. Most of the time we look at death as the end but maybe it’s really the beginning. Obviously when someone close to us passes we always want more time with them. Wanting to hold on is a personal problem I have myself. Letting go has always been hard. What do you believe? Is there a heaven and hell? Personally when it is all said and done I hope to see everyone on the other side. Check Out Earth Ancients Podcast:https://www.earthancients.com Thank you for listening. Our Political Atmosphere

Podcast 76:It doesn’t take much to notice that our political atmosphere is terrible. We have so much going on with so many issues that you can’t just say 1 thing is wrong. I think we deserve better as Americans. I think our politicians should be better. On one hand we have Donald Trump running for re-election and on the other we have what seems to be the Democratic Party running for president. No Joe Biden and Kamala Harris but the whole Democratic Party is running and looking for power. No matter where you stand or what your beliefs are stand firm to what your you beliefs are and don’t choose one side because “your family has only voted blue” or “only voted red”. Look at what the candidates policies are and what they have done in the past. See who they are before you cast your vote and see if they line up with who you want them to be.Podcast Posting LinksThank you for listening. Rate, review, and subscribe please. Is Spotify Trying to Censor Joe Rogan?

Podcast 75:Spotify is trying to censor Joe Rogan. Well I shouldn’t say Spotify, I should say their editors. So Spotify signs a deal with Joe Rogan, they pay him a certain amount of money, and his whole podcast library is supposed to be available. That hasn’t been the case.At what point do the employees run the show? Why is it that employees feel like they have this immense power where they say “If you don’t do this we are going to protest”. Why doesn’t Spotify say “If you don’t do your job you can quit, and protest all you want”.It’s not like there is a shortage of workers out there. Spotify signed a contract with an individual and they are supposed to honor it. Plain and simple.Thank you for listening. Rate, review, and subscribe please. Beirut Explosion and Aftermath

Podcast 74:The first Picture is a picture of Beirut before the explosion. The second is a picture of the explosion in Beirut.Lebanon has been plagued by corruption and self serving politicians for years. Since their Civil War ended in the early 90’s there has been a rotating roster of corruption and the people have paid the price for it. Inflation of their currency has crippled things, COVID-19 hits to make it worse, then this explosion happens because a large deposit of ammonium nitrate (fertilizer) was left unchecked for years. This happened 20 days ago and the toll is this, 220 lives lost and 300,000 homes destroyed. What has the government done? The Lebanese Prime Minister and his cabinet resigned but the President won’t relinquish his power. Is he part of the problem too. Something for us to take into consideration is that things like this can happen when self serving politicians and corruption are allowed to thrive. We need to keep our own politicians in check and vote out any that have been there too long and have done nothing.Podcast Posting LinksThank you for listening. Rate, review, and subscribe please. Cancel Culture and Free Speech

Podcast 73:Is our speech free? Often we hear of individuals making statements and then having to pay dearly for it afterwards. We can thank cancel culture for that. Today I use the example of Drew Bree’s making a statement about standing for the American Flag. He caught some backlash behind it but I didn’t think what he said was wrong. I think he made a good statement and that should have been it. He had to make a statement about his statement later on apologizing and I think that’s ridiculous. Can he not have his own opinion? If his opinion doesn’t match up with to what everyone else wants why is it a problem?I think cancel culture needs to come to an end. It is one thing to hold someone accountable. It’s a completely different thing to ruin someones lively hood over something that can be trivial.Thank you for listening. Rate, review, and subscribe please. George Floyd and the Police Brutality Problem We Have

Podcast 71George Floyd was murdered a few days ago and now Minneapolis is under civil unrest. Tensions with police have risen and everyone is looking for answers. The problem is no one knows where to find them. You can’t just say cops need to stop killing blacks because that is just the outcome of the problem. The root of the problem is that police officers are under trained. They need more training. How many people need to die before the people in power see that additional training is needed and that it needs to start happening now.As a supporter of law enforcement it’s ok to support them and condemn police violence. It’s ok to say there is a problem and that it needs to be fixed. Why do we respond to these tragic events with looting and violence. I understand that there is anger. I understand that people want justice. Looting and burning down buildings doesn’t fix the problem. It creates new problems. Burning down a police precinct is going to need to be fixed. The money that is going to be used to fix it is going to come from the tax payer. In closing it’s important to understand that not all police officers are bad. There are a great number of them that do their job right and put their lives on for the citizens in their towns. Podcast Posting LinksThank you for listening. Rate, review, and subscribe please. Gun Violence in general is bad. Even worse is trying to politicize a situation and not look for a definitive solution for the problem. Criminals don't go to the gun store to buy guns. They get guns by other means. Creating more gun laws don't prohibit criminals from getting weapons, it makes it harder for law abiding people to get them. So if gun laws don't work what will? I believe investing in the education system is the solution. If we could invest more money in kids and educate them, they would be less inclined to join gangs and commit crime. J.B. Pritzker, the Governor of Illinois released plans to legalize marijuana in Illinois. It is a divisive issue because there are people that are for it and some who are not. Most importantly is what are the ramifications of doing so?When prohibition started it was the birth of organized crime. Now that marijuana is becoming legal in a commonly know corrupt state like Illinois, who knows what it holds. Most noteworthy is Chicago's influence on the entire state. Normally everything runs through Chicago and just trickles down to the rest of the state. It is noted that Law Enforcement and the NAACP do not agree with this legislation. So will this make even more tension with the citizens and police? There are some positive notes though. There are benefits to marijuana like helping people with chronic pain. CBD oil is already legal and there are many benefits that people are already benefiting from. Some individuals pain is worse than others. For some marijuana helps with their anxiety and depression. Most importantly I hope this doesn't effect kids in a negative way. Based on the study that Denver conducted on it's 5 years of legalized marijuana use things didn't turn out that bad. William Pietruszewski is also charged with willfully failing to file suspicious order reports with the Drug Enforcement Administration. If found guilty they could spend life in jail. Pretty brutal. There is an opioid crisis. People are overdosing. Opioid use is ruining lives and drug company's are profiting . In addition drug dealers on the street are lacing other drugs with Fentanyl. Now these super drugs are being sold and some people don't know this. Therefore they buy these drugs and they overdose from it because their bodies can't handle it. An easy solution to the problem is just don't do drugs. Unfortunately it's not that easy. Furthermore the problem is with opioids it is very easy to get addicted. If you have a knee or a back surgery and you get prescribed Oxycodone. It's pretty normal. The thing is once you use it you start getting used to it, then getting off is really hard. Above all it is believed that these men willfully stocked pharmacies that were not supposed to have Oxycodone. They were supposed to file paperwork to the DEA on what they thought were bad practices and they didn't. They valued profits over people's lives and that is horrible! How do you punish such a powerful company though? It is said they will have to pay a 20 million dollar fine and reform it's compliance program. This is pretty much a slap on the wrist and doesn't set an example from prohibiting other company's from doing this. Rate, review, and subscribe please. The bombs went off in 8 locations and most noteworthy, it is believed that the attack was meant to target Christians. It's difficult to comprehend something like this. Normally we see what the tragedy is, say how terrible it is, then go on with our day. It's important to understand that these things can happen here as well. The Government and first responders can't protect us all the time. Therefore we need to know the basics on how we can help our selves so that when help arrives your not to far to gone. CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed training is a great place to start. This is great information to have and you would be glad you know it when you need it.Sri Lanka had a civil war between 1983 to 2009. An attack like this upsets the balance that they have fought so hard for. Instead of looking at this like a terrible event, we should look at it as a learning experience as well. It makes one wonder "how did it come to this"? Shouldn't the local government have a plan in place to have had these things done years ago? Notre Dame Cathedral went a blaze (which is horrific) and the government wants to help by sending money as a donation. Why not use that money to help out Flint Michigan? The Notre Dame Cathedral is getting tons of support from very wealthy people and I don't think we need to send any cash there when we have more pressing issues here. One of the most noteworthy is the border problem we are having. He stressed the lessons learned while also giving examples of mistakes that he made. That's helpful because sometimes when we hear a story we think to ourselves "how can I learn from this".This was a fun interview to say the least. As I read passages from the book, Dan put what he was experiencing into perspective and was able to elaborate on his message. The book ranges in lessons that he learned as a triathlete to lessons learned on the battlefield. It is becoming incredibly obvious that the mainstream media enables people. There are people that watch the news, take it at face value, and go on with their lives. It doesn't matter what it is said. They just believe what is told to them. When people do that it leaves the truth out in the wind and it changes their behavior in a way where they blame things that happen to them because what is told to them on the news. This happens on the left and the right. This could be the reason why there are such extremes of both sides. The mainstream media I believe is the result of all the divisiveness in our country right now.Next we talk about Target recently raising its minimum wage to $13 an hour.
