A native Detroiter, Loriann Bell recently received her Doctorate in Education, with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Dr. Bell's research interests center around effective leadership models, with an emphasis on district leadership, and more specifically the relationship between the superintendent and curriculum director. She is also interested in organizational development–improving organizational culture and strategic planning, as well as Professional Communities of Practice–developing the instructional leadership capacity of principals and classroom teachers. Although her career in education spans 31 years, since March of 2015 she has been committed to improving student achievement in the Pontiac School District.
