I'm excited to have this forum to talk about everyday issues and everyday people making a difference in society. Lets talk about it, join the movement, and rule the world...

The 2023 movie Little Mermaid is the latest example of a movie that was supposed to be a movie for kids, yet the movie was made into the second coming of Spike Lee's epic movie Malcolm X. This is an intro to an upcoming show where I speak on how to me, the recent movies Wakanda Forever and Woman King shows how many in Hollywood, and by extension the audience see Africa and Africans. It's not a good thing...We'll get deeper on the topic in our next show. Let's talk.
Hello, hello! How are you? Today's show is pre-recorded as I'm helping a friend on a movie set, so I won't be able to talk calls today my friends! Enjoy... Soooo, President Bidens main qualification for someone to be nominated to a seat on the Supreme Court is that the candidate not only be a woman, but more so that she be Black; not just a woman, not the most qualified, he specifically stated that she only be a Black person. I didn't expect the deluge of emails that I received from part one of this topic was from part one of this topic! So, we're going to answer a few emails and put forward my suggestions that can bring back storytelling that tells a story, not promote a cause.
So, how's the Progressive movement and defund the police movement working for you? Things improve in your high crime neighborhood. Crime down? Wait, were you one of the people that was convinced that the police, not the violent felons, are the bane of comunities experiencing increasing, the reason for abuse and death in the inner-city? Wait, did you even live in the neighborhood where you were protesting the police, or did you live in say, Malibu or Amherst? Has thing gotten better from the election of those “criminal justice reform, end mass incarceration, criminal are victims, and ‘my laws are guaranteed to get someone killed” district attorneys like Los Angeles District Attorney Gascon, or the one in San Francisco whose parents were active members of the terrorist group The Weather Underground? Let's talk about it… Cori Bush explains her “defund the police" position - YouTube
Back in the days of Superman, The Crow, Iron Man, The Avengers, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, etc., movies were presented based on, you know, the storyline and the characters. But now it's about the non-Anglos, the melanin country, the sexual orientation, hyper-feminism, how many trans, that's at the forefront of the promotion. When I sit in on meetings, the cringe is high because they're selling not the story, not the character, no, its about what the character looks like, thinks link, and what group the character represents. Hollywood actors, especially the current generation of talent, too many really don't have knowledge of the comic-book genre, and when they research, the fims revolve around color, gender, etc., Let's talk about this by reading an article I just came across, link posted in the description…. It's been a disturbing, and increasing, narrative the last few years, that having Black (and Brown) skin equals being disadvantage and oppressed. It became clear when a few days ago, in conversation with several friends, non-Black or Latino, insisted that Black people must work three times as hard as White people to be successful; and that I was wrong for saying that it's not true. And media makes it a mission to take every opportunity to post articles that continue the narrative that Black skin equals oppression and disadvantage.
Hello, hello friends! How are you during these crazy days? Its been months since my last show, it's been a challenging time since my fathers passing this past August 2021. As we begin Season 13, I'm going to answer a few questions that I've received the last few months and going forward we'll broadcast each Sunday at 4pm. I'm also introducing a new segment entitled ‘Lets read an Article!”, where we'll go over an article for various news site, and I'll share my view on it. Let's listen to each other, and respect each other, all we have is God, and each other… Stay safe, life your life…
I received a lot of emails regarding the recent controversy on The Bachelor involving the first, and quite possibly last Black contestant, let us talk about it….
On January 6, 2021, a mob separated from a peaceful protest and stormed the US Capital. It was insanity to say the least, and it was received with condemnation by people of all political persuasion. President-Elect Joe Biden said in a speech in Wilmington, Delaware, “No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesting yesterday, they wouldn't have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol.” Now we hear words of “insurrection”, “white supremacist”, “Nazi”, "systemic racism", "structural racism", "fascism" "white privilege", detention centers become "cages", Arnold Schwarzenegger compare January 6, 2021 to the infamous Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), etc. How did we get to this point and why aren't elected officials or media personal like Rachel Maddow, Don Lemon, Bill Maher, Trevor Noah, using their platform to bring the American people together? President Trumps words have been dissected 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Words must unite, not divide, but media shares a lot of the blame for the level of toxicity of the toxicity in today's current political climate. President-elect Joe Biden wants unity, yet he played into it as well, so now he wants unity, well, what kind of unity? More importantly, do the people even want to unify with another group of people that have been demonized for four years straight, since the night Donald Trump was elected president. It's not too late to pump the brakes on this rhetoric, or is it? Let's talk.
Let's have a discussion about what happened at the US Capital this past January 6, 2021, and the dangerous road we're traveling down.
I came across an article posted on Catholic Citizens which had the headline, "Nancy Pelosi Bans ‘Gender' Terms Like Mother, Daughter, Father, Son in House Rules", I first thought that I was looking at a parady from a comedy act, and then I found the resolution where it reads in clause 8(c)(3) of rule XXIII, strike ‘‘father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, step-mother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, grandson, or granddaughter'' and insert ‘‘parent, child, sibling, parent's sibling, first cousin, sibling's child, spouse, parent in-law, child-in-law, sibling-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, half-sibling, or grandchild''. "Siblings child'? When did 'son' or 'daughter' become offensive and need of change? Lets talk about this. https://catholiccitizens.org/issues/church-state-relations/93856/nancy-pelosi-bans-gender-terms-like-mother-daughter-father-son-in-house-rules/ Intro/Outro song: 'Tension' by Pink Zebra
We're concluding yesterday's show where I read student responses. In this segment, I'll read the responses giving to my survey question, "How has the quarantine and distance learning affected you personally? (For example, your emotions)". It was very moving. Intro music, "Paranoia", produced by Saafi.
Hello, two weeks ago I gave a survey to my students regarding how the current pandemic is affecting them and their education. 72 of my students completed the survey, and their answers are very revealing. I'll share with you in this episode their answers. Intro music, "Paranoia", produced by Saafi.
(***Note from the Host. Hello, hello! Technical difficulties prevented out airing yesterday's episode, so I made sure to upload it today for your listening pleasure Thank you for your patience, and for your continued support.) The 2020 elections for US president, The Congress aka House of Representative, and the US Senate is over, ballots have been counted while some are still being counted. Over the last week I've got emails ranching on topics such as Biden presidential victory, Trump losing, Antifa, BLM, Supreme Court, COVID-19, Media, Distance learning, Geraldine Ferraro, Sarah Palin, Obamacare, etc. So I'm going to answer as many questions as possible you sent in with the hope that answers will help continue conversations that can just maybe, help resolve the division that we see today in the USA, and by extension the world-at-large. Let's talk. Intro music, "Paranoia", produced by Saafi.
Had a conversation yesterday with a relative, everything was fine until President Trumps name came up, which let to our conversation dissolving into an attack on Trump, and an attack on me. It revolved around Trumps handling of COVID-19, as it related to my father's death, and my being called a Trump apologist even though I said nothing to support Trump, beyond I recall Trump sanction criminals in my homeland of Democratic Republic of the Congo, and that was received with the reference to a negative comment allegedly made by Trump regarding Africa, so I didn't even bother talking about anything else. Biden's faults were disregarded, 1994 Crime Bill, sexual assault charges, racist comments, treatment of Black women, etc., just wanted to hear thoughts. It's just the times we live in, if you don't agree with someone, they think you're delusional, an Trump supporter, that your dumb, ignorant, it's only going to get worst after the election. Its not rational, I was asked who I would vote for Trump or Biden, and when I said I wouldnt vote for either one of them (I was going to mention a write-in candidate but didnt bother) I was told that was a cop-out. That really hurt. Trumps elections revealed the true colors of a lot of people, whether they be Democrats, GOP, conservatives, progressives, liberals, Black Lives Matter supporter or critic. Seems the days of conversation, and exchange of idea is long gone. Can we bring it back? Let's talk. (Article) For the first time, Latinos are the largest group of Californians admitted to UC Intro music, "Paranoia", produced by Saafi.
BLM was supposed to help the issues of black inequality, but it's not. Why? Intro music, "Paranoia", produced by Saafi.
"We don't get along", "they don't like us", "they hate us", "they think they're better than us", I get a headache each time I hear it. The oft cited narrative says that there is warfare between African and Black Americans? We're going to talk about it. This episode came about several weeks back when I was watching an interview on Vlad TV where Vlad was interviewing comedian Godfrey C. Danchimah aka Godfrey and the topic of the relations between African and Black Americans was broached, and it included Rick "Freeway Ricky" Ross the former drug leader, not the rapper. I wasn't happy with most of the discussion, much of which I've heard before, and it circled around the refrain, “Africans this, Africans that.” Africans aren't a monolith, Black-Americans aren't a monolith, and it was a disappointment to hear Godfrey, a brother I highly respect (his impressions of Denzel Washington are a riot!), lump a continent of 1 billion plus into one envelope. Godfrey did say it was from his point of view, so I'm not going to argue against that; I'm going to talk about it from my point of view.
Facts, fiction, people dying, businesses profiting. It's not the end of the world, but it feels like it, doesn't it? These are crazy times, yeah? Everyone is suspicious of each other. Store shelves being stripped bare of toilet paper, Puerell, rice, and eggs. What is the cause of all this? Fear. The Coronavirus aka Covid-19 is now a global pandemic, and as a result, “social distancing (remaining 6-feet from each other” is being emphasized to prevent the virus from spreading. Yet, because of the testing for the virus seems to be inaccessible to the everyday person, it's hard to tell how many people actually have the virus, so it's not a coincidence that the numbers of the infected continues to grow, exponentially in some areas, to the point that many governors have order a stay-at-home order, and President Trump even considered imposing a quarantine on parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Let's talk about it. 1. (YouTube) [LIVE] Coronavirus Pandemic: Real Time Counter, World Map, News 2. (YouTube) Coronavirus outbreak: America's changing face in the COVID-19 pandemic fight 3. I've been looking at media the last few weeks, YouTube, Instagram, the news outlets, print media and there has been this weird balkanization of media between those that think they are the spokesperson for whatever cause they think deserves attention and those too afraid to speak honestly for fear of retribution from the first group. "Woke", which according to Wikipedia is defined as; “As a political term of African-American origin refers to a perceived awareness of issues concerning social justice and racial justice. It is derived from the African-American Vernacular English expression "stay woke", whose grammatical aspect refers to a continuing awareness of these issues.” Yeah. I've watched the celebration of mediocre movies that were praised simply because they had women behind the camera, had a majority Black cast, or in the case of the Academy Award winning movie Parasite being praised as though “Crazy Rich Asians” wasn't extremely popular months earlier, or the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon didn't win Best Foreign Language Film, Best Art Direction, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography at the 2001 Academy Awards. Least we do not mention the open hostility towards White men, including Brie ‘Captain Marvel' Larson's "I don't need a 40-year-old white dude to tell me what didn't work about A Wrinkle in Time. It wasn't made for him! I want to know what it meant to women of color, biracial women, to teen women of color.” Considering that it was more than likely Anglo men that financed the movie, and that many of Anglo men have children with non-Anglo women, that comment didn't prevent that movie form bombing at the office. Lets Talk About It.
Thus far these Democratic debates have consisted of mudslinging, personal attacks, Medicaid for All, very little of the Green New Deal, and even a smaller dosage of discussing the policies that will benefit the American voters. And the moderators of these debates, they leave much to be desired. The televised debates look more like the gladiator fights at the Roman Colosseum, than actual debating. It's been disappointing at best. People are worried about how will they make rent, how will they pay their bills, put food on the table, keep a roof over their heads, praying they don't get sick, and the Democratic candidates are more concerned about delivering pre-written answers to pre-written questions. Let's talk about it. Audio intro (Rep. Tulsi Gabbard) source: CNN c.2019
Alright people, my acting friends, we need to have a conversation about some of the things that I've seen at auditions, whether it be those that we hold or those that I've sat in on. These are things that pretty much doom the actor/actress before they utter a single word, even before they get the sides. Conversely, there are a few things that an actor/actress can do to improve their chances at, if not getting the role, being considered for the next role that come across the casting directors' desk. Let's talk about it.
Too often I've attended Comicons, and it seems each time that I walk the convention floor, I see the same egregious mistakes made by exibitors whether they be artist, dealers, or publishers. This episode will focus mainly on artist and small press. I'll do a longer one on dealers and exibitors. Enjoy. Rule #5: Act like you want to be there. Rule #4: Don't have a cluttered table / exhibit booth (though this is mainly for artists). Rule #3: Have someone watch your booth if you must leave it for a few minutes. Rule #2: Don't have a crowd just hanging around, loitering at your table / exhibit booth. Rule #1: Don't relish with glee, the opportunity to tell a potential client, “I'm booked!”

Leading up to the 2015 Academy Awards, the narrative sweeping the land after the nominees were announced was/is that there needs to be more inclusion in the images shown on the movie screen. Any felt ‘Creed', ‘Straight Outta Compton', and ‘Beast of No Nations' were overlooked. Chris Rock spoke of diversity yet only through the lens of Black and White. Is the real issue diversity or is there a deeper issue at hand? Let's talk about it.
As an educator, I see a trend of students with no motivation to go beyond average, being not motivated to even be motivated. Why is this? Where did it come from? Let's talk about it with a few of the rock stars in my classroom.

A play on Philip K. Dick book, "Do Androids Dream Electric Sheep", on which the Ridley Scott directed movie 'Blade Runner' was based on, a majority of today's high school students seem to embrace failure as an option because they either 1) feel that they will be bailed out by a teacher because of pressure to give the students a passing grade, or 2) they will always be served by a society that has conditioned them to think that society will wait on them hand and feet thereby the student doesn't have to do anything. Kinda like a diner in a restaurant waiting to be served by the waiter/waitress. I have seen the future of this country in classrooms, and it's frightening. Yet, are too many of todays students doing what the school system has conditioned them to do? Lets talk about it.

With all the media spotlight on illegal immigration, there hasn't been an equal light shown on the students already legally in the US who are struggling to graduate high school and go on to higher education. Why the disparity in activism? The numbers of students, especially Black and Latino graduating is slowly climbing, yet the numbers of those not completing high school is still horrific. Let's talk about it.
The New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks for the Superbowl championship. So many lifes lessons were at play in that game, lessons you can use for your own journey. While in the classrooom this past week, I see more and more the failings of education which could lead to a dystopian USA in the future. Overseas, everyone wants President Joseph Kabila to step down as president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, well, and then what? Whats in DRCongo's future, more of DRC's past? And finally, is the War on Terrorism turn into War on Islam? Lets talk about it.

It wasn't too long ago, that 'Kony 2012', a short film produced by Invisible Children, Inc..to raise enough awarenss to capture fugitive Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony was the cause celibre. The campaign resulted in Joseph Kony's name being on all media and on the lips of a lot of people. Almost 2 years later, he's still on the run. This year in 2014, the rallying cry is the 276 plus girls kidnapped several weeks ago by the lunitic group Boko Haram, and like 'Kony 2012' Bring Back Our Girls is in all media and on the lips of alot of people. Months from now will the results be the same? Yet more importantly, why is Bring Back Our Girls resonating with so many people when other issues, many close to home, hardly get a few paragraphs in a local newspaper? Lets talk about it...

Another year has passed. It's a media driven society these days; it bleeds it leads, if it's dead our ratings are red. Reality is defined by reality TV, and scandal is the new road to riches and notoriety. Yet through all this fog of war, the people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are slowly rebuilding from multiple invasions, coup attempts, negative media portrayal, and endless resource exploitation. Through it all millions of our Congolese brothers and sisters were killed, along with those that fought to defend them. Those responsible thought they would die nameless, thrown in mass graves, discarded like ashes to the wind. Many want the world to forget them. We can't forget them. We won't forget them. Through our remembrance of them, they will live forever...
In a few months, thousands of high school seniors will graduate into the real world. Hundreds of high school seniors won't graduate. Either way, more young adults are entering in the real world. Somehow along their journey to matriculation, they've convinced themselves that if they succeed it's because of the student, if the student fails, it's everyone else's fault. Soon-to be graduates, lets talk about how that delusional line of thinking works in the real world…..

We all have obstacles to overcome, challenges to defeat, and dreams to realize. Yet eventually, many people drift off-course in their lives and don't do what they were created to do. Then one day it happens; you come across a photo of yourself as a child and you wonder about the dreams you had back then, what you aspired to do, and you wonder if it's too late. It's never too late. The time to start is when you start.
Today we'll talk about whats in the news, President Obamas speech on the slain young brother Trayon Martin, and also have a great conversation with Baltimore, Marlyand based artist Dawn Douglas as we talk about entertainment and social change, a topic of which she is a huge proponent of. Let's talk about a few things; the NSA controversy, the immigration vote, some international news, some entertainment news, and words you can use to release the greatness in you!Yes we will touch on the Tayvon Martin verdict and the issues surrounding it. Sometimes one sees injustices, and we wonder what we can do to prevent it from happening beyond just talking about it. So many of us leave paycheck to paycheck, worried that our place of employment could let us go everyday, and yet we see movies stars being paid huge amount of money to be in a film, obly to see the film be a box-office bust, and they still get more movie offers. Lets talk about it.

Our 12th year of remembrance, though I incorrectlly mentioned 9 years as I neglected that we did it on-line twice! Last show we discussed if the Gods in history were actually Aliens. Now lets flip the coin: what if aliens weren't involved in mankinds history? What if its simply that our ancestors were more advanced then we give them credit for? In the Bible, Ezekial described a man, he didn't describe a spaceship. Lets talk.
