Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News, spoke with Dinakar Munagala, CEO & Co- Dinakar Munagala Founder of Blaize, and Joseph Sulistyo, SVP of Corporate Marketing, about Blaize's push to make AI inference practical outside the data center—and why a new strategic collaboration with Nokia is designed to accelerate that shift, especially across Asia Pacific. Blaize positions itself as an AI computing company built around a purpose-built, fully programmable processor architecture it calls a graph streaming processor, paired with software intended to simplify development of “real-world” AI. Munagala framed the company's focus as practical AI inference for environments like smart factories, smart cities, agriculture, defense, and other edge and hybrid deployments where latency, power, thermal limits, and operating conditions are non-negotiable. A centerpiece of the discussion was Blaize's announcement that Nokia is strengthening edge AI capabilities through a strategic collaboration with Blaize to deliver hybrid inference solutions across APAC. Munagala and Sulistyo described the move as a signal that AI's next phase isn't only about large-scale training in centralized data centers, but about deploying inference where outcomes are realized—near cameras, sensors, machines, and field infrastructure. In their view, Nokia's global reach in networking, automation, and integration creates a path to deliver end-to-end solutions that combine connectivity and compute for real deployments, not demos. Sulistyo emphasized the economics driving hybrid inference: cost-sensitive, power-constrained environments often cannot justify a single “monolithic” compute approach. Instead, he argued, the market is moving toward heterogeneous architectures—mixing different compute types to hit performance targets while controlling total cost of ownership. In APAC, he noted, the scale of deployments makes marginal savings meaningful, and hybrid designs become an operational requirement, not a preference. The conversation also connected edge inference to public-sector and community outcomes. Both executives highlighted smart-city use cases—such as traffic management, tolling, and first-responder automation—where real-time inference can improve accuracy and responsiveness while reducing labor-intensive processes. They extended that point to rural and underserved regions, arguing that “smart city” also includes municipalities and regional governments, where automation and analytics can unlock revenue (e.g., tolls and fines) while improving safety. Doug pushed on definitions and practicality, prompting Munagala to describe edge inference as compute performed as close as possible to the sensor—for example, processing video near a camera mounted on a pole, at a toll booth, or in a factory—so systems can detect events and respond with low latency. He added that some deployments may route inference to nearby on-prem servers or regional data centers, depending on architecture and proximity, and Blaize aims to support these variations with a common hardware/software platform. Blaize also addressed the “AI energy speed bump” impacting communities and operators—particularly where power availability and cost are constrained. Munagala said low power is foundational to Blaize's design goals and argued that purpose-built inference architectures can reduce the burden associated with power-hungry AI approaches. Sulistyo added that the broader infrastructure conversation increasingly includes cooling realities (air and liquid) and the need to match the deployment environment to the right compute profile. To ground “real-world AI” in examples, the guests pointed to deployments including license plate recognition in complex, variable conditions and traffic anomaly detection (identifying behavior that deviates from normal flow). They described these as compute-intensive workloads that must run reliably outdoors and under harsh conditions, where latency and endurance matter as much as accuracy. They also discussed retail analytics as another example of edge inference delivering measurable business outcomes by connecting what happens in-store to revenue-driving decisions. Looking ahead, Munagala described the Nokia collaboration as a model for additional partnerships that bring inference solutions into production environments at scale. Sulistyo noted APAC is the initial focus, with other regions expected to follow based on demand, proof points, and the prioritization of specific use cases. Kevin Boston-Hill speaks with speaker and author Kevin Blaize about his journey to becoming an author and how students can use his example to explore the world of literature and how teachers can use his books to encourage their students.
Blaize is back to get close to the end of our conversations aout the films directed by Paul Schrader. This time we're looking at two of his most recent films, Master Gardener and The Card Counter. These are part of his "lonely man in a room" trilogy with First Reformed, but are they are fulfilling and poweful as that previous film? The guys debate the films' complexity and power, and how influential Luc Bresson's Pickpocket is on Schrader's whole career.
Alex Kantrowitz of Big Technology weighs in on what Microsoft and Meta's reported job cuts and hiring freeze means about the broader landscape for Big Tech. Plus, the CEO of AI chip startup Blaize discusses the decision to go public through a SPAC merger. And, Gabelli Funds Co-CIO Chris Marangi highlights one financial name that offers an alternative entry point into the sector.
Small Cap Breaking News You Can't Miss!
The Schradercast has walked some interesting ground in its previous 9 episodes, but this time Blaize and Jason have hit the most interesting ground so far, with two diametrically opposite films which provide a fascinating contrast for each other. First, Dog Eat Dog a hyperkinetic nihilistic Nic Cage/Willem Dafoe crime thriller. Next, First Reformed, a highly considered and deeply fascinating Ethan Hawke/Amanda Seyfred journey into the complex darkness of one man's soul. Whatever the mismatched nature is of these films, the resulting discussion ends up being one of the most intense and often moving conversations we've ever done on Jason and the Movienauts. We hope you enjoy it too.

Blaize is back with Jason to continue their look at the films of Paul Schrader, this time with perhaps Schrader's oddest career killing move. In 2014 Schrader was contracted to deliver a "geezer teaser" action thriller with Nicolas Cage called Dying of the Light. But the film was taken away from Schrader and edited without his consent. So Schrader created his own take on Dying and posted it to torrent sites as Dark. Are either of these films any good, or is this another example of the eternal oddball Schrader sabotaging his old career. Can the old man learn new tricks? Answer: well, it's complicated!

This time in our look at the films of Paul Schrader, Blaize and Jason get obscure and controversial. First they look at Schrader's decidedly different Adam Interrupted, which stars Jeff Goldblum as a former popular German entertainer who is sent to a Nazi concentration camp - and the trauma that camp visits upon him. It's a very Goldblum type of performance, as the guys discuss. Then they get to the notorious The Canyons, a kickstarter-funded LA noir starring rehabbing Lindsay Lohan and abusive porn star James Deen. It's an odd film for all those reasons, and many more which the guys argue and debate about in detail - this is one of the episodes in which the guys disagree the most. We think this is a very interesting 100 minute (!) chat and well worth your time! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sacks/message

Blaize and Jason are now getting towards the later section of Paul Schrader's complex career. This time they get to a couple of really pretty intriguing films by him. Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist is one of those films which has a backstory as compelling as what viewers see up on the screen. Blaize gets into all of the amazing backstory here, exploring how Schrader opted to go back to work for the studios, how his Exorcist prequel was taken away from him, and how that prequel was ultimately released. Even with all that backstory, Dominion is a complex, fairly interesting film with a surprising amount of depth, and the guys find a lot in the fulm to make it compelling. The Walker, Blaize and Jason agree, is kind of a lost classic. It features a fantastic performance by Woody Harrelson in an excellent character study that adroitly explores late 00s Washington DC, full of decadence and betrayal and even murder. Both films are worth searching for and we think you'll enjoy this discussion. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sacks/message

Blaize and Jason are back to continue their look at the films of the great Paul Schrader. This time in their chronological review, they're looking at the justifiably obscure Forever Mine and the fascinating, odd, kinda brilliant Auto Focus. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sacks/message

This week Blaize and Jason continue their look at the films of the singular Paul Schader with a look at two films by him which are adapted from novels. And what opposites they are. Touch, adapted from an Elmore Leonard novel, feels listless and unfocused. But Affliction, adapted from the Russell Banks novel, continues Schrader's focused on the Lonely Man archetype, getting deep inside the heads of a family whose toxic masculinity becomes a generational trauma. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sacks/message

Blaize and Jason are back on their Schader watchlist with movies 9 and 10 Schrader directed. And you couldn't ask for a more diverse pair of films. Light Sleeper is a potent, powerful instance of the Schrader lonely man lead, while Witch Hunt is a charming little goof of a film. But both are actually pretty great, and well worth celebrating. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jason-sacks/message

Today on Crime and Entertainment, we share quite a tale. It is a mix of "Gone in Sixty Seconds" and "Catch Me if you Can." Our story is about Kasse Blaize whose real name is Rafael Pate. After an unexpected situation left him with a warrant out for his arrest, Kase's life began a path that resembles something out of a movie. When his plans to enlist in the US military were derailed, he began stealing cars which ultimately led to his incarceration. His incarceration was the beginning of quite a wild ride when he had his first successful prison escape which would NOT BE HIS LAST! As we unfold his life story, we discuss how he eventually spent over 15 years on the run. While on the run, he managed to escape to Canada and graduate college. Then, he would later sneak back into the USA, open multiple businesses, and become acquainted with several well-known individuals who had no idea of his past or his actual legal name. Please enjoy this wild and crazy autobiography of Rafael Pate!
