Ogni giorno l'Intelligenza Artificiale ci offre uno spunto: perché se ne parla così tanto e, soprattutto, perché l'IA ha un ruolo sempre più importante -potremmo dire un potere quasi invasivo e allargato- nel dibattito pubblico? Potremmo fare un passo indietro per riportare quanto scriveva, nei giorni scorsi, sul sito della RSI il collega della nostra redazione culturale Paolo Rodari: «Un gesto destinato a lasciare un segno nella storia della Chiesa e nel dibattito globale sull'intelligenza artificiale. Leone XIV presenta oggi -era lo scorso 25 maggio- “Magnifica Humanitas”, la sua prima Enciclica, firmata il 15 maggio nel 135° anniversario della “Rerum Novarum”. Come Paolo VI che, nel celebre discorso all'ONU del 4 ottobre 1965, evocò Terenzio dicendo che nulla di ciò che è umano poteva essergli estraneo, anche Leone compie di fatto lo stesso gesto. Ricorda che la Chiesa rimane esperta di umanità, chiamata a discernere ogni epoca a partire dall'uomo e per l'uomo. Si tratta di un testo che affronta la «custodia della persona umana nel tempo dell'IA» e che, per toni e contenuti, supera i confini dottrinali per entrare nel cuore delle tensioni geopolitiche contemporanee». Il messaggio è dunque chiaro: l'Enciclica, scrive ancora Rodari, «è un appello a orientare la tecnologia verso giustizia e comunione, rifiutando una logica puramente efficientista». Leone avverte che l'IA «non è moralmente neutra» e che la dignità della persona rischia di essere oscurata da nuove forme di disumanizzazione. La tecnologia, scrive, «assume il volto di chi la pensa, la finanzia, la regola», e per questo va guidata da criteri di corresponsabilità e sussidiarietà. Con la sua Enciclica sull'IA, Papa Leone XIV richiama la necessità di porre la tecnologia al servizio della dignità umana e del bene comune: si tratta di una nuova “questione sociale” capace di incidere sul lavoro, le relazioni, le decisioni pubbliche e politiche e i conflitti. L'appello è a non ridurre l'uomo a criteri di efficienza e calcolo e a “disarmare” l'Intelligenza Artificiale, sottraendola a logiche di dominio, guerra e esclusione. Partendo da questa importante presa di posizione geopolitica del Pontefice che commentiamo con un esperto teologo, oggi spaziamo e divaghiamo anche nell'universo dell'Intelligenza Artificiale dando un'occhiata ad alcune notizie delle ultime settimane. Ad esempio: i grafici sono preoccupati per l'appiattimento totale delle immagini: sempre più volantini promozionali e pubblicitari creati con l'IA non spiccano per originalità e creatività. Sono tutti molto simili e uguali, oramai omologati e standardizzati. Poi i media ci hanno riferito che molti giovani non apprezzano particolarmente l'Intelligenza Artificiale: per quali motivi? Un altro argomento di rilievo riguarda i consumi energetici enormi e gli impatti sulle emissioni di CO2 e sull'uso del territorio dell'Intelligenza Artificiale. L'intelligenza artificiale rischia di diventare un problema ambientale globale. Entro il 2030 consumerà l'acqua necessaria a 1,3 miliardi di persone (pari all'intera popolazione dell'Africa subsahariana), e 945 terawattora di elettricità (il triplo di quella usata da 650 milioni di persone tra Pakistan, Bangladesh e Nigeria). A lanciare l'allarme è il rapporto dell'ONU Costo ambientale del consumo energetico dell'IA: impronta di carbonio, acqua e suolo. Lo studio evidenzia come l'intera filiera dell'IA necessiti di linee guida: dalla costruzione dei data center all'uso quotidiano, fino ai rifiuti elettronici. Sono ospiti: Alessandro Longo, giornalista specializzato in nuove tecnologie e direttore di Agendadigitale.eu e Markus Krienke, professore ordinario di filosofia moderna ed etica sociale presso la Facoltà di Teologia di Lugano e direttore della Cattedra Rosmini.

Riflessioni di Ajahn Jayasaro. Nascere nel regno umano significa disporre delle condizioni fondamentali per la liberazione. Il Dhamma ce ne offre la conoscenza e gli strumenti. Sette forze ci sostengono: la fede, l'energia, il pudore morale consapevole, il timore intelligente delle conseguenze, la presenza mentale, la concentrazione (samādhi), la saggezza. Una cosa conduce all'eccellenza: la saggia attenzione. Una cosa dovrebbe essere realizzata: la liberazione incrollabile. Nove sono i modi per superare la malevolenza: quando sorgono i pensieri "mi hanno fatto un torto, mi stanno facendo un torto, mi faranno un torto"; oppure "hanno fatto, stanno facendo o faranno un torto a qualcuno che mi è caro e gradito"; oppure "hanno fatto, stanno facendo o faranno un favore a qualcuno che mi è ostile e sgradito", in ogni caso, chiedetevi: che beneficio c'è nel coltivare la malevolenza? Cinque percezioni conducono alla maturazione della liberazione: la percezione dell'impermanenza; la percezione della sofferenza (dukkha) nell'impermanenza; la percezione dell'impersonalità nella sofferenza; la percezione dell'abbandono; la percezione dell'equanimità. Otto cose devono essere profondamente comprese: guadagno e perdita; prestigio e perdita di prestigio; biasimo e lode; piacere e dolore. Sei forme di rispetto vanno mantenute: verso il Buddha, il Dhamma e il Sangha; verso l'addestramento; verso l'attenzione; verso l'ospitalità. Otto cose devono essere sviluppate: Retta Visione, Retta Intenzione, Retta Parola, Retta Azione, Retta Sussistenza, Retto Sforzo, Retta Consapevolezza, Retta Concentrazione. Later, I moved to the United States as an adult, built a business, and eventually returned to education in public schools. Looking back, that shift mattered because it gave me the three lenses I needed: system, workplace, and relationship. AI Changed the Conditions of Learning, and Why This is Urgent AI did not just add a tool. It changed the conditions of learning for children and for the adults guiding them. AI accelerates output, but it does not build the internal capacities a child needs to live well. It can generate language, answers, and even persuasive arguments, but it cannot build a child's self-regulation, empathy, moral judgment, or ability to verify what is true. Those skills are formed through guided practice and accountability. If we do not prioritize them now, we will confuse productivity with competence. We will raise students who can perform, but cannot explain, check, or revise under pressure. That is why I say that human skills are the stable line of support when the future is hard to predict. From school safety to AI governance: why emotional and identity harms appear first. The Role Shift for Teachers and Parents Teachers are no longer competing as holders of information. Information is everywhere. What is scarce now is judgment, verification, and authorship. So the teacher's role shifts. Teachers become accountable architects of thinking: they design what students must know and show independently, what can be supported, and what must be verified, so learning is not replaced by polished output. Parents face a role shift, too. Parents have a new factor shaping childhood: algorithmic influence. It shapes what children see, what they repeat, what they normalize, what they desire, and sometimes what they fear. Parenting shifts from policing screens to mentoring attention, values, safety, and truth seeking. The child is the only person who lives in both worlds every day. That is why home and school must be coherent: shared expectations for explanation, verification, and revision keep the child protected. Coherence before capacity: Protecting teacher thinking in the age of AI Coherence Before Capacity, and What I Built My organizing principle is Coherence Before Capacity. It means we align roles, boundaries, and evidence of learning first, before we scale tools, training, or adoption. Capacity without coherence just scales confusion. Coherence is what protects meaning, protects dignity, and protects the child as an author of their own learning. I founded AI4Educator to help teachers use AI in a way that protects teacher authority, student authorship, and feasibility. That is why I built two practical supports. Question: When AI saturates STEM ecosystems, what protects the learning process? For teachers, I developed an Epistemic Principle: a simple way to decide what must be independent, what may be supported but verified, and what artifacts make thinking visible. I built the agent to operationalize that in teacher planning, so those protections show up in lessons without adding workload. Check It: Verify one key claim or one step with a second source or method. Change It: Update your work based on what the check revealed. Correct an error if needed.
