Lisa is joined by Maura Rogers, singer/songwriter and programming director at Cleveland Rocks, Past, Present, and Future. In addition to her connection to The Music Settlement, Maura tells us about the impact that music had on her life growing up, how she passes on that joy to her children, and the close connection she has with her band family. Maura also discusses the work of Cleveland Rocks, Past, Present, and Future to foster a supportive environment for local music makers and the many ways that Cleveland residents can support music in their own community. Dr. Cathy Benedict, Lecturer for Curriculum and Teaching at the Teachers College, Columbia University, connects Maura's work to her research in music education philosophy, and poses philosophical questions for preservice music teachers: Music is everywhere - what does that mean? What constitutes music? What does it mean that it's everywhere? Who gets to or does not get to play it everywhere? Who is rewarded for playing it? Cathy also emphasizes the importance of manifesting joy through music-making. Ian started his career fronting the band Mott the Hoople who were best known for their hit, All the Young Dudes. This week, the Bayer siblings are thrilled to welcome comedian and fellow Clevelander, Dave Hill to the podcast! They're talking about growing up in the city that rocks, Dave rocking all the way to the stage of the Jon Stewart Show with his band Sons Of Elvis and how this catholic school kid became a force to reckon with in the world of entertainment. We also discuss formative concert experiences—including the Guns 'N Roses show Jonah and Dave both saw in 1991 and the very different takeaways they had due to their relatively minor, but at the time major differences in age. (Spoiler alert: Dave's mom didn't take him to the concert.) Plus, we potentially make some headway in the mystery of whether Jewel played at a beloved coffee shop in Cleveland? Finally, in a rousing game of CHANGE.DORK, the three of us debate the merits of Dave getting let back on Twitter, a Cleveland NHL expansion and should Jacob grow a Tony Iommi style mustache? Should Dave grow one? You'll have to listen to find out!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

YUH 150 is Mick The Digital Doctor and "Ian Hunter On Track". When our guest saw that Sonicbond publishing had the legendary Ian Hunter of Motte the Hoople covered in a book about that important British band from the early 70's, he was moved to approach them with a project covering Hunter's work since leaving the band in 1974. After all, some of the artist's greatest songs have come in the almost 40 years since "All The Young Dudes" broke through. Songs like "Once Bitten Twice Shy", "Cleveland Rocks" and "The Golden Age of Rock and Roll'". In 2023, Hunter brought together a collection of some of the greatest rockers of the last 60 years to release "Defiance Part 1", a 10 track record that serves as a testament to Ian's powers as a vocalist and prominant stature in the history of rock and roll. Mick Smith is a fan and brings tremendous depth to the remarkable story of Ian Hunter! #mottethehoople #ianhunter #markronson #defiancepart1 #alltheyoungdudes #davidbowie #Allthewayfrommemphis #Guernica #thedoors #sonicbondpublishing YUH Theme by David T and Mojo 3 https://www.amazon.com/Insanity-Sobriety-Blues-David-Mojo3/dp/B091N8BJNB Ian Hunter on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Ov9t7KbQF0oz9B4JsMfV2?si=DqHCwVGZTDqnMzgxlxI1Jw Mick The Doctor of Digital Substack: https://micksmith.substack.com/ Ian Hunter Friends on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/559168214188149/ Sonicbond Publishing: https://www.sonicbondpublishing.co.uk/ Yeah Uh Huh Social Stuff: Yeah Uh Huh on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@yeahuhhuhpod Yeah Uh Huh on Facebook https://facebook.com/YeahUhHuhPod Yeah Uh Huh on Twitter https://twitter.com/YeahUhHuhPod Yeah Uh Huh on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/show/7pS9l716ljEQLeMMxwihoS?si=27bd15fb26ed46aa Yeah Uh Huh on Apple Podcasts https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/yeah-uh-huh/id1565097611 Yeah Uh Huh Website: https://yeah-uh-huh.wixsite.com/yeahuhhuhpod --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yeah-uh-huh/message

Legendary singer-songwriter, author, and rock ‘n' roll star Ian Hunter's illustrious career is now in its seventh decade. His rock ‘n' roll life has long been marked by collaboration, from the golden age of Mott the Hoople to his fabled partnership with Mick Ronson and 21st-century renaissance with his crack backing combo, the Rant Band. Over the years, Hunter has enjoyed numerous chart successes, especially Mott the Hoople's international hit “All the Young Dudes,” the David Bowie composition that emerged as a countercultural anthem in the 1970s. Hunter would later recount the trials and tribulations of his life with Mott the Hoople in his autobiography "Diary of a Rock 'n' Roll Star." During his solo career, Hunter's best known work includes the song "Once Bitten, Twice Shy", later covered by Great White, and "Cleveland Rocks,” (originally “England Rocks”) the popular theme song for "The Drew Carey Show." With his latest album DEFIANCE PART 1, Hunter takes creative solidarity to an unprecedented new level with accompaniment from a truly awe-inspiring roster of special guests, famous fans, and lifelong friends. DEFIANCE PART 1 sees backing from luminaries such as Ringo Starr, Jeff Beck, Todd Rundgren, Joe Elliott (of Def Leppard), Guns N' Roses' Slash, Jeff Tweedy and – in one of his final recordings – the Foo Fighters' late, great drummer Taylor Hawkins. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/everythingfabfour/support

I was traveling this week, so while this might not be one of the longer episodes in the bunch, it struck me as meaningful. To be honest, I didn't even plan on doing this one, but after attending two sporting events during my trip to Cleveland, it begged to be talked about. With all the good vibes I had, nice people I met, and my naturally opinionated nature on the ways professional sports leagues should operate, it seemed like a good time to point out some ways these sports could be improved for the next generation of fans, and for the greater good overall. If you watch football on Sundays, or just generally are baffled at how little a multi-billion dollar enterprise can even pretend to care about their fanbase, this episode is definitely for you.
